Love this shop! All the products I’ve received are top notch, wonderful. The owners are stand up ethical people who are extremely knowledgeable. They are also wonderful stewards, not willing to stoop low just for a quick buck. They also regularly give back to the community.

I was amazed that an herb shop right where I live might carry great herbal products from reputable companies like Dragon Herbs and Jing Herbs and many others. I bought four products from Jing Herbs and am feeling the energy in only three days. Whole Foods and Natural Grocers is a joke supplement wise compared to this place.

Love this local shop! Not only is Josh extremely knowledgeable about plant medicine, he will genuinely take interest in your needs and help you find the best medicine to support your body, mind, & spirit in an ethical and sustainable way.I frequently experience bad anxiety and I went into the shop recently looking for something to bring with me on an upcoming trip just in case i needed some relief. Josh asked me specific questions to get to know my anxiety and suggested herbs that could support me “in the moment” in the event of a panic attack. He crafted a personalized tincture for me that day so I would have it with me for my trip. It’s one I always keep nearby, along with many of the shops’ other tinctures (another favorite being the Calm Belly digestive bitters). Greenthread offers an abundance of herbal allies and I’m so grateful to have this shop close by!

When I moved back to Salt Lake I was lucky to find Greenthread Herbs. Josh and Bryan are incredibly knowledgeable in all things herbs, and so kind. They can craft teas and tinctures specific to you as well as having a large selection of tea blends, mushrooms, tinctures, oils, salves, incense, books, candles, chocolates and medicine making supplies to chose from. The shop itself is welcoming, and a sweet soothing break from the busy city. I’m in every few weeks to collaborate with Josh on my health goals, and have yet to have a bad experience.

Wow, what a wonderful shop. Greenthread Herbs is our go-to apothecary! Josh, Bryan, and Theresa are so helpful and they are a wealth of herbal knowledge. I love having them prepare herbal blends and tinctures for me. Having a blend of herbs prepared just for you is an amazing gift! This is also a great place to buy gifts for others. Ive had Josh make a special herbal blend for my mom for her birthday and for a friend to celebrate her bridal shower. You will love the feel of the apothecary from the moment you walk in. The space is clean, bright, and well organized. We are so lucky to have Greenthread Herbs here! If you’re looking for a shop that takes time for their customers this is not the one.Thank goodness I left because I found Natural Law Apothecary and they were so lovely and friendly beyond measure.I was surprised to learn that the person I dealt with today was the owner. I was getting some herbs and his attitude was very much in a state of hurry. I felt a little overwhelmed as he was waiting for me to rattle off the herbs and quantities all at once. He didn’t ask how I was, what I was making, or if I needed any help. As he was putting my herbs in a bag a woman who he clearly knew walked in and he said just 3 more herbs and then we can talk, insinuating that I was keeping him from what he actually wanted to be doing by inconveniently purchasing herbs from him. I was discussing with my partner that I was considering getting orange peel and the owner picked up all my herbs and quickly went to the register to ring me up.I checked in with myself and decided that in the product I was making I didn’t want this hurried and dismissive energy. I told the owner that my experience here had felt rushed and he became very defensive - informing me that it clearly states on their webpage that if I wanted more than 8 herbs I needed to make an online order. I’m from out of town and on top of that I don’t take the time to read every shops website that I visit. He told me I “really screwed them over” by not buying the herbs. I was genuinely appalled by the level of customer service and I ended up leaving.

I’ve been here a few times now. I’m putting together an amenities kit for my Airbnb and wanted ideas. Also needed to restock on tea. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I dig their authentic approach to what I feel is true apothecary. I have yet to attend their community events or workshops, but stoked they are still doing them (safely with COVID) and look forward to attending some at some point.

Our expectations were high after reading reviews for this place, but fell short after visiting. We didn’t feel welcomed, felt like asking questions related to local herbs and usages were shot down with cold answers. Good commercial products though.

Josh is an incredible herbalist! He will help you with whatever it is you are looking for, and is kind and patient. I appreciate him and his shop so much, it has done wonders for me! Thank you!

I love this apothecary, its one of my favorites in town. However its very frustrating that they arent open the hours they say they are. I have to drive 30 minutes from home to get there and I usually have no issue making the commute because I know Ill get quality herbs and oils. However to drive that distance just to find out they are closed when Google AND their front door hours show they should be open. Kind of unprofessional and frustrating.

Huge selection of spices, will definitely come back when I run out of my grocery store supplies to upgrade them to something fresher

Love this place. The man was so helpful and very well versed. He definitely got me what i wanted and then some. He took time to educate me and answery questions. The price was better than the packaged stuff that who kmows how old or whats in it, at sprouts and whole foods. It was made fresh right there foe and the tincture tastes really good. The others taste awful feom sprouts.

Josh and Brian are both extremely knowledgeable with their product lines carried, only carrying the very best, very highest quality of product selection available. They carry bulk organic herbs, a local medicinal mushroom line, as well ayurvedic herbs and flower essences, by FES. They also carry Full spectrum CBD by Functional Remedies and Proper. Both Josh and Bryan have been in this industry for a very long time and have a wealth of knowledge about the uses of all their products carried. They are quite the herbs mixologist specialist as well! Making custom blends for various needs of their customers. Theyre also quite the Tea Specialist. Looking forward to seeing what they accomplish with a bigger space, coming soon, in the Avenues of SLC. They are simply amazing people who you need to stop and see!

Overall super cute place. Lots of tea and herbs in nice glass jars all along one wall. The gentlemen there were helpful and I was able to bring my own jar for loose tea!(See picture)! Definitely a must to stop by if your a tea lover. Great bulk store, they have paper bags they send you home with so you can choose how much you know you will need.

You walk in and it feels like a welcome home. I could have spent my whole paycheck in there! Thank goodness for self control! They have a great selection of herbs, spices, teas, tinctures, books incense... I could go on and on. The employees are kind and very knowledgeable. I have definitely found my go to.

Hands down the best herb shop in Salt Lake. Josh and Bryan are extremely knowledgable about plant medicine and have helped family and friends with a variety of health issues. Im grateful a shop like this exists to share the wisdom and love of plants.

Decent place, a little snobby for me though. The guy that helped us very pretentious and was very educated about commercial herbs. It seemed like it was asking too much to educate customers. Im glad we stopped there and seen the commercial expensive side of the apothecary world. New Law apothecary in downtown SLC is way more friendly and willing to work with inquiring minds.

Got a tea as a gift, super cool small local SHOP with HERBS.

I stopped in to pick up some calendula for my skin, but ended up blurting out that i was in need of a mood lifter cause I’d been struggling with an unforeseen bout of depression. A special mix of herbs was quickly mixed up for me, and I feel so blessed to have this naturopath in my neighborhood!

Best place to get herbs in SLC! The energetics of the space are lovely and Bryan and Josh are great. We are lucky to have them here in SLC!

What a life changing place. I first starting coming here when they had a small space in Thyme and Place. They have since moved to their new location. They have introduced me to adaptogens and it has made living with anxiety so much more bearable. They will make custom tea blends based on your needs. Their knowledge and care that they put into everything they do is refreshing and well needed in the Salt Lake community.

I tried some facial oil they are experimenting with and absolutely love it! Feels like velvet on my skin and it’s immensely helped with the dryness! Thank you Bryan and Josh!

I went in spur of the moment looking for some things to help with anxiety, to help me sleep better, and to help with grief. They were so inviting and helpful and understanding of what I needed. Ive used most of the products I got from them and Im a big fan! Especially the tinctures they gave me to help me sleep better, those are working wonders!

Honestly one of the best stores in utah. Josh abd Bryan are absolutely amazing, caring, wonderful people. Prices are incredibly fair because the owner cares more about helping others with herbal complimentary (or primary in some cases) health care than he cares about getting rich. Custom blended herbal teas. I visit anytime I start feeling sick, tell the guys my symptoms, and they send me away stocked up with a custom blend.

You won’t find another shop like this in SLC. These people know their herbs 🌿 and are more than willing to help you find what you need-whether that be excellent tea, tinctures, good quality incense, cbd products, hydrosols etc. Check them out!

So, to begin with some context, I have been battling Ulcerative Colitis for almost 14 years now.. I have seen multiple Gastroenterologists and until meeting Bryan and Josh, I felt very lost and hopeless. My relationship with Greenthread began with meeting Bryan, and as they were still in the process of opening the store.. he was willing to give his time and knowledge to me and influenced me towards drinking more teas when it came to ingesting the herbs that seemed most helpful with deep ulceration. Since that, I have become a regular here, being as vulnerable as I can with my symptoms and struggles outside of colitis.. they have both shown themselves as empathetically patient, willing to spend as much time needed to gain the understanding required of a condition as complicated as mine. I began a very specific tea blend based on Joshs recommendations, about 2 weeks ago, not only have I gone from 8 bathroom visits a day to maybe 4, but my skin, eye color, depressive symptoms, and strength have greatly improved based on the various recommendations they have made. Ask them specifically about the mushrooms, adaptogens and other natural compunds they consume. Beyond that, as a male, I have found great benefit from the stinging nettle and pine pollen they have recommended to me. I work at a nutrition store, and though I get a better discount with my job on many herbs I have been using.. I have begun getting everything through Josh and Bryan given how competitive the prices are and the invaluable knowledge that comes along with their genuine interest in helping you and providing you with the information to be successful. These guys are so important to me, and I hope you give them a chance too.. you are sure to gain from it... Thanks guys!! Keep it up :)
