Love our chandelier from them! Took me a few days to polish, but it is beautiful.

This place was great and they are very helpful. We went in looking for something specific and they had answered all our questions. They seem to specialize more in doors and wood projects, so keep this in mind when heading there. They are also very fairly priced compared to other shops in the area. I can definitely appreciate that!

I bought a gate from these folks. They just could NOT have been nicer! They were so kind. They showed me everything they had and help me make the best choice. They even delivered it for me! I LOVE it! It is perfect! I love going there to browse. Love it there!

Its a nice little place. They have a lot of antique stuff and the staff is very helpful. However the prices for some of the stuff can range from several hundred dollars to a thousand dollars. As for me, its not my style to pay $600 for a door thats very worn. However, I respect other people who may wish to purchase it and restore it themselves. There is something different for your home if youre looking for antiques. Its still worth a look.

This is a cute little shop with very friendly and helpful owners and staff. They have a lot packed into the store, but its very well organized. There are hundreds of doors and the prices are on all the doors. The other architectural items are very nice with lots of character. The owner will work with you on making a deal. Great place to visit!

We went here today to look for doors for our new house and we hit the jackpot! The owners were very helpful, service was excellent, and the prices were very fair. We had been to a few stores that had ASTRONOMICAL prices, and we were able to come home with 4 doors and some wrought iron columns for a fraction of what we would have gotten all of it for at other places. It seems like they have great customer loyalty, and they can now add us to that list. If you are close and looking for great pieces for your home, stop here first.

I love this little shop! Everything is in great condition and reasonable prices as well. Owner is really nice and helpful. Most of everything is saved from around the area, which is really neat. Theyve got a lot of unique doors and stained glass as well as a great selection of wood pieces!

My husband and I have been to Old is Better than New a couple times now and the quality and variety of the items sold here is very high. I came into the store today to purchase a desk made of reclaimed wood (that is AWESOME) and found a couple more gems along the way. The gentleman loaded the large desk into my car and helped me carry out my other items. He was extremely professional and helpful. He even gave me their card with Pinterest info on there for ideas of what to do with the items I purchased. We love this place and will definitely be back!

Love this place and can spend hours here. I was looking for some used stained glass with character and they have a great selection of sizes and colors. Anything that you need to bring that vintage feel to your home can be found here. Very reasonable prices and the staff is friendly and knows their vintage.

The store was very well organized with even more items in stock than on the website. The owner knew his merchandise well and was able to assist us in finding exactly what we came to find - beautiful antique stained glass windows for our front door in our 1881 Texas farm house. The prices were excellent, the quality was excellent and the service was very generous. I will be recommending this store to others!

Fell in love with a neighbors door and he pointed us to Old Is Better Than New. Made the trip down from Austin - and it was definitely worth it! The selection of doors, shutters, windows, stained glass panels, salvaged barn wood - it can be overwhelming at first. But just strike up a conversation with Gabriel and hell point you in the right direction. We found really cool 200-year-old Mexican doors for a fantastic price. And the owners are super nice! Cant recommend this place enough!

I actually heard about this place from people who dont live here. Its packed with doors, windows, shutters, and every other architectural element found on old homes. And the owners are really nice. If you dont like tight spaces, this isnt the place for you. (Leave all this great stuff to the rest of us. ;)

Awesome hidden antique store located near downtown. Have a good variety of doors, windows, wood, locks, knobs and various hardware. Staff is very friendly and shares very useful knowledge if you do or dont buy something. Recommend to any one.

Great architectural salvage but on the pricey side.

I looked at my receipt the next day and the owner had listed my last name as Bi**ch. Yep... you saw that right. I paid full price for 3 doors without negotiating but I did kinda laugh at the price of one door so, who knows?? (overly sensitive to criticism, maybe) But, if youre a woman, I would stay away. I wont be going back (obviously).

I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS BUILDING EVER AGAIN. I saw an advertisement on the Facebook marketplace on some antique metal bins for a great price so I headed over to the store on Jan 6th. I was assisted by a Hispanic man in his 30s named Victor (I believe). He was knowledgeable but that is NOT what I had a problem with. Victor kept conversing with my son while we were talking about antiques. He even offered my son some gummy candies in a sealed bag; I didnt think much about that at the time as he asked me if it was okay that my son have them. Later, he left me in the area where the metal bins were to help another customer. I bent over to grab one that wasnt too rusty and when I came back up, 30 seconds later, my son was gone. I called for my son and he didnt respond (in each of the 3 rooms in that building). My son later returned with Victor, and I was mad at my son for not responding when I called out to him. I told Victor we no longer needed his assistance and that we were leaving. As I was putting my son in his car seat Victor asked if we were leaving because I was mad at him. I told him I was mad at my son for not responding. THEN HE ASKS ME IF I WAS JEALOUS THAT MY SON WENT WITH HIM INSTEAD OF STAYING WITH ME. That didnt sit well with me at all. I left.

This place is amazing! So many cool old things to look at & decent prices for the quality! Definitely worth a look if youre looking for a unique addition to your home.

Old is Better than New is a treasure trove of vintage goodies. I could have spent hours exploring room after room of doors, windows and other fun items. I plan to go back frequently to see whats new (old).

So many wonderful things to explore! A door we found wouldnt fit in our jeep so they were able to hold it for us for two weeks until we had a truck available. They also offer discounts and coupons.

The owner knew his stock and took us thru the maze of cool old doors, windows and other accent items...everything you can imagine...and led us right to the stuff we needed. Old is Better than New was the first place I went to look for an architectural column. I found exactly what I was looking for, in fact there were many to choose from of every size. The owner was very helpful, including loading a 96 column in my Prius!

I was looking for reclaimed lumber for a project I was planning. Driving around I came across Old Is Better Than New, a reclaimed architectural shop. Went in and was amazed at the selection of window, doors and reclaimed plank lumber and trim. No more searching around now I have found them!

They have a wide selection of architectural beauties, and they are excellent at responding to you if you have any inquiries. Great finds and wonderful service.

I thought they had a good selection of items, but holy cow, are they expensive. The place is pretty jammed pack with items so the walkways are narrow. It makes it a little tough to see everything since things are packed so tight.

I called to try to find out if they had the size I needed after searching the fb page and website. Looking for 84 in tall, 18-24 inches wide barn sliding pair. I was redirected to FB. Asked for assistance and was told oh we have over 400 doors so i probably have this in this size i said ok-price? range given from $550 up. I asked if he could text me a quick picture since i had to drive over an hour to pick it up or describe it to me. The owner told me he had actual customers in the store and it would be next week before he could do that. I said I am an actual customer and I would have given him my credit card number if her would have sent a picture or given a description. Evidently- I am not an actual customer. Very dissappointed. Maybe they should hire some extra help or catalog and price their items in an inventory list. hmmm

My wife and I went to Old Is Better Than New to look for an old door and stained glass window for a cabin were building in the Hill Country. We found both and theyre perfect! A few weeks ago we started this process at another salvage door place off Blanco and the guy was WAY overpriced and wouldnt budge. I mention this b/c we walked out of OIBTN with not only a door and window for less money than what the guy on Blanco wanted for one door, but my wife found herself a Bryan Adams record for her new 60s erea stereo console. Plus the owners were very friendly and helpful and stayed with us to help us find what we were looking for. OIBTN is my new place for those special finds.
