Woodcraft does not stand by its products.I had been a loyal Woodcraft customer for years and have spent thousands of dollars there, at times when I could have spent less but wanted to support a local store. Last week I went there to get help with a clamp I had bought that spontaneously disassembled about 6 months after purchase. I was told that they couldnt help me and that maybe I should try Woodcrafts customer service number. This after I made a special trip to the store (which is a franchise). They also did not have a record of my receipt even though they track every time I buy something and told me I didnt have to keep my receipt. Fortunately the manufacturer of the clamp is proving much more helpful than Woodcraft and will be replacing under warranty,My takeaway: I got WORSE service at the local store and from now on will look online first. Seems pretty silly to lose a loyal customer over a $30 clamp

Has most everything I need for small woodworking projects. Small quantities of lumber, stain dye and finish, jig making supplies, clamps, power tools. And Im happy to support brick and mortar stores carrying these supplies.

I came in with a cabinet hinge in hand. Looked at the selection. Asked for assistance matching it up. Dude could NOT have been more cool and helpful. So professional and patient. What I thought was match was not. Got home and installed the new hinge on my cabinet door flawlessly!. ThaaaaNK you Woodcraft.

Called to check if they were opened because I wanted to buy wood for my chicken coop. Person gave me amazing recommendations from where to get the wood(since they didnt sell that type). He also happened to have chickens and he gave me a website to check out. Super happy with the great customer service and helpful recommendations. I did not stop by to buy anything but once the covid is over, I will stop by to check it out.

I love shopping at this place. Not only is a store incredibly well stocked with supplies for projects and exotic Woods but also it has a fantastic selection of tools. Just about every tool that you might ever need plus a bunch of tools you would rarely use. And I love the people that work here because theyre very knowledgeable about their inventory. I think every person that works here works on the wood professionally and is extremely passionate about their craft. If you need some help with wood project or tool of any kind or any kind of exotic Woods this is the place in the Bay Area to go in my opinion. Definitely worth the drive

Helpful staff good variety of stock items. But the hardwood they sell for a specialty store is just not what I expected maybe from a big box home store like orange or blue but expected better from here. Boards that were supposed to be S4S were bent all kinds of ways and made my project so much harder. Unclear why I’d pay the premium for milled boards if they let them warp like that.

With Southern Lumber out of business, this is one of the few places left local to get those special pieces of wood for your next project. You can order online from Woodcraft but I always likes to shop the local stores when selecting wood for a project. The staff is knowledgeable and can actually help with any questions that you have. Its always a pleasure and a pain to bring my wife here. Vivian is also a wood worker so we generally spend more than we plan as we find that special piece we like but have no specific plans to use.

Specialty store for woodworkers. Too many interesting things, so I cant go there with my wife. When she tags along I cant go down each aisle and drool over the goodies. Not always the cheapest. Still youre sure to find something you really dont need but want anyway.

This is a good place to go if you must have that specialty item for woodworking and cant wait to order it online. The staff is VERY helpful however can be pretty gruff and a bit standoff-ish depending on whos helping you when you get there. Sometimes they can make you feel like they really have better things to do. Again though this really depends on who is helping you. They have many times gone out of their way to help me with a problem and also be quick to correct me if I have said something incorrectly (see above comment). They do have a large assortment of items and are usually very knowledgeable about those items. Their prices are high and their inventory of wood is starting to be somewhat thin recently. I however have noticed that it is getting increasingly harder to procure exotic woods for a decent price even in a rough form that you would have to cut and surface your own. I deal with a few exotic wood dealers in the bay area and it is becoming harder and harder for them to stay in business. I respect what they do and I have to say it isnt easy. Keep trying Woodcraft! Please for all of us that still enjoy the craft of woodworking and making things with our hands...Stay with us and we will continue to purchase items you sell as long as you can keep them reasonable and offer better quality of inventory. Your prices dictate such. I have never minded paying through the nose for great pieces of wood but here is the stipulation... It must be great pieces of wood!Thank you guys for staying in business and continuing to be there for us to get those hard to find items not carried by the local big-box!

These folks provide fantastic customer service and advice for woodworking projects. Excellent lumber selection and all of the cool tools you could want in your shop. I purchased everything from small forstner bits all the way up to my full sized lathe and theyve been a pleasure to deal with on every purchase. They also have a great selection of wood finishes and can help you figure out what will work best for what youre working on.

Went in to pick up a tool they show on their website and a friend had bought from there. When I asked the guy working the counter he gave me a look like he didnt know what tools even were. I asked if he could look it up in their system and while he was I looked around the store. When I made my way back to counter and asked what he found he told they havent sold one in a couple years, to which another woman working there told me I was better going to some other hardware store to find it. At that point I was so pissed I put down the other items I had intended to purchase and walked out. When I got home I checked the woodcraft website to see if I was mistaken about them carrying the item, while they didnt have it at that particular location, all their other stores did. After seeing that I figured they would have offered to order one for me or at the very least tell me to go to their website but no. So I checked Amazon to see what I could find and guess what, right away I found it and guess who fulfilled the order...Woodcraft. While I ultimately gave them my money, the thing about a tiny specialty store compared to Lowes or Home Depot is customer service!! Unfortunately this is one big reason for brick and mortar stores losing to Amazon and online retailers.

Ive bought several items there before (mostly small items) but went in today with the intent of purchasing a band saw. Ive bee reading generally good things about Laguna band saws but hoped to get some advice. The salesperson was entirely uninterested in exploring my requirements or even try to talk to me about brand model differences. There was another sales person who was slightly more communicative but he left to help another customer. The final straw was that I then noticed the salesman writing up an order for the original Laguna model I asked about. I told him we werent ready to decide yet and we left. I was a regular customer of the Woodcraft store in Woburn, Massachusetts before we moved to the Bay Area. I can hardly believe this is the same company. Unfortunately, their are not many other options on the peninsula which perhaps explains things.
