My favorite store in SD point blank period!!! I feel good spending money there because they deserve the business. You get that small town feel when you walk in. Store is big enough to have everything you need and small enough to get in and out at the same time. Meats are fresh, store is clean and employees are nice. Once again, I don’t want to spend my money anyplace else. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Negative star for customer service. The old man in the shop today (10.10.2021) is to be blamed. Not sure if he’s the owner or employee of this place. This used to be my go to place despite couple of quality issues in the past. The old man was harsh right from the beginning and humiliated me as if he was doing a favor by selling his meat to me (Sir, nothing is free). He showed some inappropriate gestures because of which I forwent to buy meat from this place (left the place right away). This behavior is not acceptable in customer service industry! Please get it through your thick head Sir!

This is my go-to Market for when my family wants to make a Jamaican style dish! My family is from Costa Rica and on the Caribbean coast side in Limon, CR there is a great Jamaican influence. So when we are craving Jamaican inspired cuisine this Market has everything we need. I also highly recommend this Market for their fresh butcher cuts! We often get ground lamb and beef to make burgers and kebabs!

This is my favorite market in San Diego! Ive been coming here for 20+ years. They have great selection of fresh meats ranging from grass fed goat and lamb, to spices and veggies from the Middle East, Africa, Jamaica, and the Caribbean. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable.

They have an abundance of great spices and herbs from different parts of the world that go great when cooking many things like meat, fish, poultry eggs and vegetables. They have meat and poultry from their own farms in San Diego county. Home made yogurt, salsa, butter that come from their farms as well. Everyone working their was very helpful and polite. Much better than the regular supermarkets.

Great variety of African products. Fresh goat meat with skin. Cow meat. Ox tail. They also have black soap and black seed oil. I love the Jamaican stuff like bammy, coco bread, kalalu, and all the African spices. Love this place for my African and Caribbean food.

Kind of tiny and dark store with narrow isles. Felt kind of suffocated. You might get the things you want though 👍

A little tricky to find at first, but I think that was because we had the address wrong. Its located in a VERY busy section of El Cajon Boulevard and they dont have a parking lot. We lucked out and scored a curbside spot on the street right next to it. We ventured there because it was the ONLY shop my husband found that carries a very specific spice needed for an Indian stew we planned to make. So, if you ever need any asafoetida, this is the shop. And according to my husband, we got a good sized bottle for a very reasonable price. We didnt really get to browse because we stopped in on our way elsewhere, but they looked like they have TONS of stuff.

Over priced fresh goat meat. My husband paid for 6lbs but what he brought home couldnt be anymore than 4lbs which i noticed the next day. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THEM AGAIN. Going back to Butchers block for my moneys worth.

Go to this place and ask for Al. He will help you with whatever you need. This is a family owned business but Al is the heart of it. Besides knowing where my meat comes from, the fact that this man is so helpful, passionate and knowledgeable about what he’s doing, it makes me come back every week. This place is definitely a gem. Great selection, the cheese and meat is super fresh. I also purchased homemade yogurt. Everything was delicious. The owners were also very nice people. The woman was very friendly and the man gave me some tips on how to cook the meat. This is my new favorite store.

I have been buying their fresh locally raised lamb chops upon discovering them at a local farmers market. This family owned and operated butcher shop also makes an original garlic spread that is out of this world. Their garlic spread has become inseparable with my eggs and hummus breakfast. Quality 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 5/5.

Hateful place

The folks there were very friendly and welcoming. They answered any questions I had and even helped my super picky girls find some things they loved. I made chicken tikka tonight for the first time thanks to their help and it was delicious! Well be coming back.

Been going there for 18 years. The nicest people, but been buying the dark roast coffee there by the pounds. Grind it myself.Apparently they grow and harvest their own meats locally. Spoke with one of the sons Ive watched grow up. Great story.Also pick up foods I wouldnt otherwise get access to. Expanding ones world begins with the first foot forward and a smile. The people there are very knowledgable, and so helpful. They helped me find better ingredients for what I needed, and my recipe turned out fantastic. This market is definitely worth shopping at!

I love this little market! Ive been going here for years until I recently moved to Atlanta but whenever I visit San Diego this is one of the first spots that I must go to. It has a huge selection and freshly made dairy products, yummy sambusas, incense and any thing you may want from the middle eastern bazaar!

Not a recommendation... we were given frozen meat for the price of fresh meat. The owner should also pay more attention on the cleanliness. Until things improve I would not recommend this place. There are better places in San Diego to get halal meat.

This little market in city heights is an absolute gem! They have fresh Lamb and goat meat from their ranch in Poway! I also get fresh, cage free eggs here, local honey (from their ranch too!), AND fresh unpasteurized goat milk! Its soo great to have a place in the city where I can get fresh products from east county without having to drive all the way out there. I love love love this place!

I love this place. The owner is a great person who truly believes in customer service, meat is always fresh they keep a great stock of many different items here and it is reasonably priced. (I dont know if it cheaper elsewhere but i like to help out small businesses, especially ones like this)

Very helpful, was able to do the lamb cut I was looking for. Clean, lady was nice, got the butcher (probably owner) for me right away. Wish I had more time to look over some of the interesting looking food products in the store. Plan to return for holiday lamb.

This place is a gem in the city. I was looking for a good leg of lamb and I found this place online. Everything they say about this place is true. They raise their own lambs in Poway! The lamb leg is a must try. Cant wait to come back and try their lamb chops.They also have a great selection of fresh spices. Very rude owner play with prices and not interested in selling zero customer services unprofessional and he should understand that we are paying money not getting staff for free. Most of the things are expired and his prices are too expensive when you compare it with other stores. Stay away and spend your money with people respect you and know how to deal with customers.

My family and I were looking for some fresh lamb and we googled fresh lamb in SD and came across this store. Once we were inside we were greater by the nice lady in the front. The butcher definitely knows what he is talking about. We have visited the store twice this month aND we will be back. They herbs and the cheese are magnificent. They are so friendly and are reday to answer your questions.

Everything for your exotic food needs. I mainly go there for my tea and naan just like I had in Afghanistan. Owner is very polite and helpful greets everyone with a Salam. Also the goat is fresh and cuts are great

Worst experience ever. The guy writes something about the price of meat and charges something else. He was suppose to charge 5.99 per lb for goat meat and charged 7.99 dollars for it. I asked why he did it and his response was i charged more because you bought less meat. What in the heck is that?be uniform in what prices you write and what you charge. Guys dont go here the guy is not a nice person and is not fair in his dealings.

Not a huge selection of meat but what they do have is inexpensive. The honey (and other normally expensive items youd get at whole foods) is a great deal though!

Spices there are very extensive.

A lot of items on the shelf in this grocery store are already expired months ago. In fact today i bought cream cheese that is made by them, and it was produced 5 days ago according to the label, and guess what ? It tastes rotten and apparently expired ! also months ago i ordered Sambosa from them, and guess what again? The cheese Sambosa had black mold! Disgusting !!This is unacceptable!! Im done with them!!

He usually writes a price on a piece of paper for the meat purchase, then when the customer is ready to pay, the owner charges a higher price different than the actual price he had already written down. This is clear cheating.Mr. Hani, I heard youve already went to pilgrimage (Hajj) and therefore you should never lie or cheat people. Shame on you!!!

I searched everywhere for goat and couldn’t find it. Then I came here and found it.

DISHONEST SALESMAN/ CASHIER. It was A BAIT and SWITCH experience. Items are listed as either DRINKS OR MEAT. The stale MEAT has turned to DRINKS after it was offered free.I called several times and could not sort this issue.
