On May 27 I took my SU carbs to SD Carburetor for repair, and was asked to give the owner (Stan) $300 cash, was told there was a credit union down the street, should have not done that, but I was told they were reliable. A week later I called Stan and was told his Carb guy was out of town for a week and nothing was done on my carbs. I went to SD Carb to pick up my carbs and ask for my money back. Stan, the owner said he did not have the money, only $67.00 to his name, was given all kinds of excuses on how poor he was. Went back several times, same old sob story, has no money. I will be taking Stan, con artist, to court. DO NOT TRUST this man and DO NOT give him any money upfront, learned my lesson

As I forgot to write a review earlier. I have seen this man Stan tune cars by ear, take carbs apart without even paying attention and put them together like its easier than anything. Ive been on a couple different trips with him to customers houses (like myself Im a customer too with my 1981 280zx currently waiting on my carbs to be put back together and tuned on the car with the fresh parts)You know what they say: find the oldest mofo in San diego to hook you up. Im fairly certain this man can do anything. Straight forward man to talk to. Super cool. He has welcomed me to his shop. His shop looks exactly like my stall once did when I was building my car: a disaster so beautiful disorganized but organized in a certain way that he somehow knows where all 30,000 parts are 🤣My recommendation? Talk to Stan first for anything carburetor related. He knows what hes doing and will most certainly get your project or daily back on the road without hesitation.

I called to schedule to get my carburetor rebuilt, but he immediately told me that he would not touch my vehicle without me first replacing my whole fuel tank and lines, before inspecting the issue or asking any diagnostic questions.

Rude. Very unprofessional on the phone. We did give detailed information of what we were looking for. I recommend just letting your voicemail pick up if youre too busy to take calls. There was no way we were going to go to your shop if merely your phone skills are that bad. We were able to shop elsewhere and give the business to someone else.

I had my carburetor rebuilt at this place and paid &850.00 I don’t think they rebuild my carburetor they just adjusted my carbs. Don’t trust them they are bunch of of corrupt people. I just had to rebuild my carb at a different shop. I normally don’t write a review but in this case I had to do this to make everyone aware of this place.

Hi Stan, I just wanted to let you know that my 1984 Toyota PU has got a second lease on life after visiting your shop and having the carburetor rebuilt. On the drive home, instead of being passed on the road by every other vehicle, I was leading the pack! What a difference! It runs like a young stallion and the gas mileage has increased as well. Thanks for the great job!

I took my 81 ford truck to have V/V carburetor fixed, after paying almost $1000. Carburetor wasn’t even worked on! He also cut my mufflers that’s weren’t bad and changed my $6 spark plugs for $2 ones.

Many years ago I had the carburetor to my 57 Corvette overhauled by a carb repair shop in Escondido. The carb never ran well even after three attempts to fix it. They are no longer in business. (I wonder why!) Just recently I decided to have another go at getting it to run the way its supposed to and left it at San Diego Carburetor. After only two days, I got a call saying that it was ready. I bolted the thing back on and went for a test drive. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The engine purrs like a kitten. No.......make that roar like a lion! The engine immediately starts every time. Before, I had to crank the engine a long time before it would start. I can even reach inside the car and turn the key and the engine will start right up. Yes ..... ..having the transmission in neutral and parking brake set is always a good idea when one does this. Thank you Gary and S.D. Carburetor for making my Corvette fun to drive again. I shall certainly recommend you to all my old fart friends who still drive old cars.

Thank you Stan! I drive a 78 Cherokee and after many trials and tribulations over the years with ignition and carburetor issues Im elated to have found Stan. He was able to accurately diagnose issues I was having with passing smog and tuned the carb to get the truck to pass. I took the truck back after replacing a faulty distributor to have the carb recalibrated. Now my truck has more power and is running like I have always wanted her to. If you have a carbureted automobile and need some help take it to San Diego Carburetor. Once again, thank you Stan!.

I have told numerous people of how grateful I am for the service you provided me. While it may seem like a small part for a small job...My car would have been spraying fuel everywhere and thus inoperable. I must have called every major parts store including a dealership to be told GM no longer makes the part. I found that little fuel inlet gasket just the ring online .55 cents with 8$ 3-5 day shipping. Ouch on both the 8$ and the 3-5 days. What was I going to do?? An idea popped in my head...A Carb Shop. Looked around and found your site. I called and was told the filter comes with the gasket. I assured him that it had not in case of the two filters I purchased from Autozone and orielly hoping just that. Nobody had the part local. Except you. And Oh thank heavens. I called at 4:52 in the evening and was told we are closing in 8 minutes. Got there and bought 5 filters with 5 gaskets!! Who knows I may lose one again or meet a camaro guy needing that part and unable to find it. WELL thank you very much you had the needed part and my car got up and running minutes after retuning home.
