I have an older car and cant afford to overpay for repairs... The guy that runs this place is always super straight up with me about the best and most cost-effective ways to keep my car running safely. Its so refreshing compared to many mechanics who will just try to tack on as many labor hours as they can to your bill. For me the most important quality for a mechanic to have is trustworthiness. Ill always go to Dmar for everything to do with cars.

Jr. & his crew are the BEST!!! I’ve gone to him for basic work, like oil changes & air in tires, & also for more serious work, like spark plugs & check engine lights. He’s always so friendly & helpful. You can tell they’re always busy, & so hardworking. Jr does his best to squeeze me in every time. It’s difficult finding trustworthy, reliable mechanics these days, especially as a young female who knows little about cars. I am lucky, & truly appreciate these guys so much! I literally never go anywhere else. Highly recommend!

I found my first experience with DMar nothing short of excellent. The service mgr, JR, communicated with me every step of the way during the visit. He could not have been more helpful. He said that they try to treat customers like family. I agree.

This place is the BEST! Really quick service, reasonable prices, and friendly staff! I’ve been by 3 times in the last 9 months (my car is getting a bit old) and JR was really helpful every time. He gave me great advice and saved me a ton of money on unnecessary fixes other shops recommended. On one occasion he discovered it was a small part that was causing my AC unit to not work, other shops wanted me to replace the whole air conditioning unit (which is really expensive), but he just charged me for the one cheep part. Another time I was having issues with my car dying repetitively and was told at auto-zone that I needed a new alternator and battery. JR checked it out and discovered that I did need a new battery but the alternator was fine...the connection to the battery was just a bit loose. Again he saved me a bunch and helped fix the car quickly! My last experience at D’Mar was just a good. Hands down this is the place to go!!

I live right next to this shop so I decided to go here for an inspection when I bought my car used. JR was extremely friendly and took the time to explain what they were doing and what I would want to look out for the the future. I’ve gone here every time since and couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend these guys!

The first time I took my car here I thought it would be about $500, but it was only $150.Every time I come in, my car is ready when they say it will be ready, I get a clear and thorough explanation of the work needed (and why its needed), and plenty of advice about anything else automotive related that I can think of.Im telling you, this place is great!

People aren’t lying, this place is the absolute best and the owner treats you like an old family friend. I don’t live in OB anymore and still come here.

Fantastic service!!! Very friendly and helpful. Worked fast and explained everything well so I understood exactly what needed to be done and why. Especially as a girl whos not familiar with cars, felt very comfortable and didnt feel at all taken advantage of with service or expense. Overall a great experience. Definitely will be back again if my car ever needs anything!

Great experience. Had misfiring cylinders and not only were they able to fix it but caught that my ecu was the issue. Very knowledgeable and were great at explaining the details. Kept me posted every step of the way. Very happy with them.

These guys are the best! Had an annoying rattle going on and they diagnosed the issue and fixed it insanely fast! Didnt even charge me. Honest, hard-working guys that know their stuff. This will be my go-to spot from now on - highly recommend!

D’auto is a reliable, trustworthy mechanic that will work with you to make sure your car is safe.

Since I know next to nothing about cars and my maintenance light came on and am new to the area it was nice to be able to come in and have them look at it. I just told him about the light and one of my seat-belts was stuck and he checked it out, topped my fluids up and fixed the seat-belt for free! Now, Im not saying that theyll always do things for free but it was honestly so nice especially when I couldve easily been taken advantage of price-wise. Definitely coming back here in the future!

Great people and fair

Called ahead about a problem I was having with a classic car. The shop was swamped with work but they were able to squeeze me in. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my car, they looked under the hood, immeadiately recognized an issue with my carberator, fixed it, and sent me on my way. Didn’t even charge me, although I insisted. Very honest and genuine people here, very few business’s left like this.

Bottom line: DISHONEST (and I have proof).Read first: The owner is extremely professional (he actually sounds educated), and for that reason alone almost all his reviews on Yelp are 5 stars. He explains exactly whats wrong slowly, clearly and very professionally, and really makes you think youve come to the right place, and even makes you feel smart because you understand whats wrong. Thats precisely how hes able to rip you off. LADIES, dont fall for it.All I knew before taking my car here was that I had some kind of power steering problem. He assessed it (although ALL he did was visually look at it) and informed me that the power steering pump was bad, and also the power steering hose was bad, too. He gave me an estimate of $500 to replace the pump and the hose. (It turns out to be THREE HUNDRED dollars in labor, which is definitely overpriced to begin with). I knew something was fishy, so I took it to my trusty mechanic (Haigs Auto Repair, on University Ave in north park), and sure enough, ONLY THE HOSE needed to be replaced (a $50 part). The pump was fine. Haigs got the honest job done for only $180.

I consider myself fortunate to have had my vehicle in the hands of JR and his team at DMarAuto. My car (2006 Audi A3 2.0T) was in desperate need of repairs and Im sure everyone can agree that in the world of auto maintenance there are many mechanics that will take advantage of the consumers lack of expertise or knowledge involving the ins and outs of it all. It is always a concern whether or not the prices or recommended repairs are exaggerated. I can tell you wholeheartedly that JR is a shining light in the industry.My vehicle was thoroughly inspected and JR articulated to me everything that was going on with it. It was an educational experience above all. I am relieved that I turned away from other shops because of the positive feeling that I had from meeting with the DMar crew. With an exceptional job done (and in miraculous timing) I was able to drive out of the garage and go on a cross country trip (and back) with zero worries. For the remainder of my time in Southern California, I will go nowhere other than JRs business.
