Overall experience was pretty good. Not thrilled to have to wait 12 days to have a car shipped from Northern California. Also not thrilled with the APR we received, considering my credit score. Lastly, once the price was agreed upon, we were in this paperwork limbo for hours. We were told to stay close to the dealership and we should receive a call within an hour to return to the dealership to make our down payment and finish paperwork. We received the call in about an hour and made our payment… only to be told our paperwork wasn’t ready and we needed to wait in a waiting room with about 6 chairs, and several people already waiting. We proceeded to wait for an hour and a half before anyone reached out to us. We would much rather have spent that time waiting at home.We had a great, accommodating salesperson right up until the handoff to the “business department.”Selection was great, prices seemed fair and we didn’t feel sales pressure. It would just be nice if the person that helped us from the beginning would be there to finish up the process/paperwork. Next time I’ll choose a smaller dealership with fewer salespeople for a more personalized experience.
This is second time purchasing a car from CarMax. I did my research and knew the car was priced in line with what other dealers/sellers were asking. It took a full week to transfer the vehicle from Irvine to San Diego, which it a little long for such a short distance, but that was the quoted time they gave.My sales person, Elena, was very nice. She has kept in touch and that has been helpful. The test drive was great because my husband and I were able to go without the sales person. It was the best test drive we’ve ever had because we couldn’t really drive it and get a good feel of the vehicle. I hope they continue to do this after the pandemic slows down.My biggest complaint is that the cars battery died within 10 days of purchase. If they did all the checks before selling me the car, why did this happen? A simple test of the battery would have indicated that they should put in a new battery. CarMax has promised to reimburse us, but it’s only been a few days so I cannot comment on whether they follow through. All in all, I recommend CarMax. If you already have your financing in place, you will be out the door in 2-3 hours. They were really busy the day we were in, so they did offer to pay for our lunch since we had to wait to sign our documents.I like the ease of purchasing at CarMax. No haggling. No “let me go ask my manager”. The price is the price. Take it or leave it.Would not hesitate to purchase from CarMax again
They took care of me. they are busy so best to make an appointment and plan on getting a ride home if you dont like to wait.do the online appraisal BEFORE coming in youll get more money 💰
Our sales person was excellent. We needed a car transferred over a weekend. She kept in touch with us by text and we arranged a test drive for 1:00 pm the following Monday. Smooth and efficient. Our signing coordinator….the same….smooth and efficient.Thank you.
The quote they gave was very good. Process was easy and i was paid fast. I recommend it to everybody.
Easy to navigate. Very customer oriented. Could shop all over the country to get the right vehicle and get it shipped close to home, mostly free. No issue to do a test drive with helpful staff. No haggle pricing is the best IMO.
Selling my car seemed easy at first however the 8 hour window wait time was miserable. The rest of the process was effective and helpful. However recently i have been received toll violations for the car i sold to car max.
This experience was fast, easy and as usual a comfortable experience. I never feel pressured or ignored at CarMax. Reps are super friendly and helpful. Ive been coming to CarMax for years and i cant complain, i am truly a happy customer.
Car was dirty, when I asked I was told that they dont clean cars before delivery, you pay a premium at a dealer and expect more than this. They were late for our appointment and no explanation of purchase, warranty anything. Just here you go and walked away. Just bought another car with Carvana, the experience there was the exact opposite. Really did not feel like a valued customer at carmax, would not recommend to anyone.
It was my first time purchasing a car here at Carmax, Both Adam and Victor were very helpful, Victor even mailed out my documents to me with no trouble because I wasn’t able to pick them up in person very great customer service !.
Everything went smoothly and I got a competitive price for selling my car with CarMax. Someone greeted me at the door and sent a friendly rep out to my car within a reasonable time to start the appraisal process. I had to come back another day for the final sale but that was taken care of quickly as well. I had arrived at the location 30-40mins before it was open to line up as suggested.
From beginning to end, it was a great experience. I went to a Subaru dealer right before CarMax and I regret it. The people at Subaru belittled me and my girlfriend the whole time we were there. We even heard one of the Dealers at Subaru call a man racial slurs in Spanish. We left Subaru immediately and went to CarMax. We got there and everyone was immediately welcoming and very helpful. They didnt try to rip us off. They actually gave us a great deal on our trade in and made the whole experience great!
The only bad thing is that I regret letting my car go. I think I made a mistake selling it. You guys are using my car as the highlight of your ads, and I keep seeing my car, my license and all, all the time. I miss it already. I got a new 2021 Mazda 3 and I wish I still had my 2016 model. Oh well, but the sales experience was fine. I might be visiting you again sooner than you think...
Derek helped me with selling my car to CarMax. A few minutes after I checked-in with the Business office, Derek called to let me know that he would be taking care of me. I was there for an hour and 15 minutes total. He continued to call me with updates on his progress with my paperwork. He was clear with communication every time.Thank you, Derek, for a professional, courteous, and positive selling experience!
So unfortunately, I can only give the appraisal process at this place 1 star. I can’t speak for the sales side. But this was a HORRIBLE experience. The staff were very sweet but there is absolutely NO explanation about why it took 7 hours to sell my car to them. I was quoted 3.5 hours on a Monday after getting here right at opening. It is now 7 hours later and I’m still not done. This place is VERY poorly run if it takes a business 7 hours to cut a check for the remainder of my loaned car. There were several people ahead of me from out of state that were in the same boat with seemingly no explanation as to why it has taken so long. In short, do NOT come here to sell your car. Go to a smaller one, like Escondido. Otherwise, when they tell you a time, add three hours to it.
Would have given San Diego CarMax 5 stars except for one customer service rep, Jeff in the purchasing department. But that was one out of many who were helpful, kind, and motivating.Would recommend this process to everybody and if you get that one not so helpful / nice rep, don’t hold it against them. It’s worth it in the end for sure!Great quote which took me there in the first place and that’s the appraisal and offer I walked out with. AMAZING! Thank you CarMax!
Went in to sell my car, had already did the online appraisal and had an appointment for the following day. Everything started off good when i first got there. They did another appraisal at the location and said it came back the same amount as the online one. Prior to that i was waiting about an hour. Tim (the employee i was working with) told me he was sending the appraisal over to the business side of CarMax to get the paper work going. He told me so sit there and wait and he would be back with me once the paper work was ready. I sat there for over an hour and half before me boyfriend showed up. He went into the business office asking what the hold up was. They said they had no idea I was waiting as they didn’t receive anything about my car. I spoke with the business manager who spoke with the sales manager who told us Tim didn’t give them anything and went home for the day and hour ago. I got there at 5pm and it was now 7:30 at this point. The business team was amazing and expedited my paperwork and had me out of there by 8pm. I am giving two stars as the business side really took care of things at the end. I am 6 months pregnant and was there for 3hrs, the employee didn’t not take care of my paperwork and left without saying anything.
Really friendly service and a great offer for my vehicle! I cant wait to come back to buy a car from this company. I definitely felt taken care of and important.
All the ladies in the service dept. were awesome, especially the manager. The purchase was painless and my trade in was fairly priced. My one suggestion is after first contact, you should assign one person to walk you through the process. Every time I called I had to speak to someone new, if I could get someone on the phone at all.
The online shopping experience is good, but could improve with higher quality photography, particularly of interiors. The in-store purchase experience is not high-quality. The car I bought wasnt thoroughly cleaned at purchase, and I had to put in some work to find the right person in the business office to properly handle the financing with my bank.
Truly abysmal experience, everything from the start on the website, to the delivery, to the failed attempt at a pickup. It says a lot, when youd prefer spending four hours haggling with an in person salesperson over the supposed convenience of an online retailer. In short, after 25 outbound calls, numerous phone tree dials that went nowhere, being passed back and forth from the call center to the sales team, who is clearly too busy to finish a deal, I was finally texted that a fee was required to schedule my car pickup.I called, again and again, TODAY, and was finally forwarded to management, as no one on staff could get me a payment link. The manager notified me that no one was available for me to purchase the car until Friday (its been there since last Friday), and get the paperwork done.Underwhelming, oversold, underperformed, and completely unbelievable.Get the process under control guys. I dont usually go out of my way to rate a one star, but having to cancel a 100% cash car payment after waiting two weeks for you to figure this out, because you couldnt pick up the phone or email a payment link is insane. Ill gladly send my $17,000 to a nagging salesperson who can at least take my money.Im wondering if this is a high school lemonade stand or a car dealership.
Great place to sell or buy used cars big inventory.
Sold my car to carmax, the staff there was friendly and helpful. Even though it was busy there, they got me out with in 2 hrs. Very satisfied with their business. Great job
Dawitt was extremely helpful and patient with all my crazy vehicle requirements. ended up buying 2 vehicles from him which now makes a total of 4 all together. will highly recommend him to everyone and will again go back to him
Staff knew very little about the car I bought, a used Tesla.I was sent home with the wrong charging equipment.I was never able to get a live person to talk to and my phone calls were never returned. I ended up buying the charging equipment I needed on eBay.To top it off today when I received my license plates I am unable to remove the bolts holding the Carmax frame. It appears to have been put on crookedly and the bolts simply spin..So frustrating… Again I called Carmax and again was put on hold and told they would call me back.I have sold three different vehicles using Carmax and been extremely happy. I would not however recommend buying a vehicle from Carmax, because if there’s a problem it is very difficult to get a live person to speak with..I am writing this review after finally hearing from CarMax.To their credit, I was contacted by the service manager, Tiffany. They reimbursed me for my eBay purchase with cash. They were able to take the Carmax frame off and put on my license plates. They were very apologetic and acknowledged that the wrong screws were put in. They also acknowledged that they have not sold many Tesla‘s and have some work to do. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and was seen promptly.I was very satisfied with their response. I do feel they need to do something with their phone system, it is very frustrating to not be able to communicate with a live person or get a timely phone call back. A lot of headaches for both myself and their service department could have been avoided with smoother communication.
Appraisal process was quick, but having to come back the next day to sell my car was a hassle. In addition, I was at the dealership for three hours waiting to finalize the sale. Perhaps CarMax could consider offering customers appointments for selling?
Very great service, got my car through carmax so i decided to also get my oil changed through them. this location is very nice everyone was helpful & polite.
The offer was a fair price. The service was nice and respectful. But the waiting was a little boring, put thats OK. It was good experience over all.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Miss Susana was extremely professional, sweet and took care of me as she would take care of her son. I felt at home with her service and dealing with me was really stressful lol because I had so much questions to ask and I even repeated some questions multiple times but she made sure I understood everything and took her time to help me. SHE EVEN CAME IN ON HER OFF DAY to help me. That’s crazy right there. I’ve never seen anyone do that. I even offered her a tip but she refused which hurt my heart because she deserves it but that’s being professional again. She’s very respectful, and has good customer service. She made sure I didn’t miss the deadline for my warranty by getting in contact with me everyday and I know she has multiple people to deal with. I can keep going but honestly, I think she deserves a raise or some better position or something please. She’s amazing. I don’t know her before, I’m African and I just moved to San Diego. So this review is really from my heart. And thank you guys for having such an amazing employees. I think the employees are just nice because most of the employees I spoke with was very helpful as well. I will definitely come back haha. ☺️
I am interested in selling them my car. After being unable to get a quote on the internet, and getting a different set of information by phone, I finally went in and was able to get my quote. It went fairly smoothly, but the process of actually selling the car to them sounds like it can be as much as an all day event. I guess given the volume of cars they deal with, it may be about as good as one can hope for.
Bought my car here. I got a great deal on my vehicle Jeep Cherokee Limited. The car runs well and the staff there were incredibly helpful 👌
3 months after trading in my car, CarMax began calling me because they supposedly lost the original paperwork that we signed when trading in the car, to get us to sign new paperwork for them. Clearly something shady going on here.
Financed an 05 Toyota Corolla back in 2014. Hefty down payment but worth it. I still have my Corolla almost 8 years later. Only minor repairs since then. It runs well. Quality vehicle.
From start to finish, your team was very helpful and attempting to make a complex transaction as smooth and easy as possible. And when sending me off with additional paperwork that needed notarization, they made sure to complete it for me to avoid any missteps from inexperience. It was incredibly helpful.
Interesting. They had a chance to make a Great impression, since it was my first visit.Very much a Turn N Burn operation...seems they get paid by the # of Appraisals they perform - not the quality of contact w/customer. Probably a Fair assessment of my vehicle.
For such a big company it was some of the worst service I have ever experienced. There’s no reason why a person should have to wait five hours to get their car looked at and paperwork done. And there was absolutely no reason to make an appointment because when I got there they said we’re busy we’re not even taking appointments anymore. They either need more employees or they need some Really good customer service training they really need to get it together.
My longest wait time was 1.5 hours, not bad at all. Everyone was respectful and easy to work with. The instructions were clear and straight forward. I appreciated the ease of transaction.
Don’t be discouraged to visit their location because of this. Just wanted to share that experience so you know about what it’s like to have an appointment. I waited nearly an hour despite arriving early to my appointment. What’s the point of making an appointment then?My appointment was for 4pm and I arrived 15 minutes early. I checked in and was told there was a 15-20 minute wait. However, I waited until 4:45 and was still not seen. I asked twice about the estimated wait time and twice was told it would be about 10 minutes. Finally, I decided to reschedule for a different day. The person helping me advised me to arrive 15-30 minutes early if I wanted to be seen on time. That’s crazy because that’s exactly what I did but okay...In conclusion, their scheduling system is REALLY bad. This review is mainly feedback on that aspect of their services. Hopefully my next appointment goes more smoothly.
Great place . very professional staff .
First time there, refer from a friend. When to sell my truck cus Im moving out state. All crew are professional, friendly, & I get a good $$ for it.I totally satisfy with . Thank you car-max.
I think this is the 4th time I have sold a car to CarMax. They were a bit busier than the last few times, so it took a little longer. The process was super simple and the staff was great.
I truly enjoyed the CARMAX experience. Thanks for making buying a car easy during these crazy times. I felt I got a great car and a great deal even though those are hard to find right now.
Worst Attempt to Sell a Car Ever!Send messages before appointment with Lies about wait time, got there at 1:50 for my 2:00 appointment and was told Id be able to sign at 10pm, they overbooked appointments and it cost me an extra day before my Big Move to Texas🤬🤬🤬
Took a very very very Lonnnnnnng time but I did get a good offer
Its a busy time for used car sales. I sold my used car within a day of posting for sale. Having said that, CarMax is busy. My vehicle shipped from out of state and was at Kearny Mesa within a few days. It wasnt ready for about a week after that and I had no updates except that it arrived. The support center helped me find out what the hold up was after about 5 days of me waiting. Thats the only bummer, but also with a silver lining in terms of customer service.I got there 30 min early to my appointment and was taken right away. Initial paperwork was finished and then the wait. There were probably 8 other cars waiting for customers at the same time as mine. I waited around roughly 90 min before I could finish my paperwork and drive off. Total time there was about 3 hours. Try not to bring your kids if you can help it, they will get bored.Great experience overall. Friendly staff at the store and over the phone with the support center.
Collin provided excellent service. He answered all our questions and was very helpful! Thanks Collin!
Experience was extremely pleasant. Very professional, courteous, paid much more for my car than the dealer offered me. I was pleasantly shocked at the entire experience. Would highly recommend them to anyone.
Started rough. Made an appointment and showed up an hour early. Was told to wait in line, then told I could go inside, went back out to my car as instructed and someone came right out and took my key and then told me I had to go back in the line... It took over an hour in the morning. Next someone told me I would get a call to come back and complete the paperwork in 21/2 to 3 hours. 4 hours later I started calling to see what was up. After 5 hours Melissa called me and brought me in and completed everything very quickly. She was great. So to recap it Chaos and confusion in the morning, competence in the afternoon. Melissa and the amount you gave me for my car made it worth the over an hour wait and made this a 4 Star review. The mess in the AM was a 2 at best.
I am very satisfied. I waited a week before going in and it cost me $600 dollars less for the car I sold. Still though, it was the best offer from several other places. The quote from CarMax was over $4000 more than the car dealers! It was a no brainer.
Rear door window fell into the door and I haven’t been able to get a return phone call back from Carmax.I even called the business office and told them that no one is returning my calls for the last three days.I bought Maxcare and just want to have Carmax repair it, just like they encouraged.I’ve only have the truck for two weeks. Sadly, I think I’ll be returning it due to the lack of support.Their loss, not mine..
My reco - Go to the one in Escondido - (I rated that one 5 stars). First attempt to sell my car was a Saturday, after 20 minutes of waiting in line, a lady tells us that they cant accept any more cars. Why couldnt they cut off the line earlier vs. having to wait? Who knows, 2nd attempt - go on a weekday - long wait again, they inspect my vehicle - took so long I went to get something to eat, before going back to do paperwork I call to make sure they are still accepting vehicles. Guy on phone tells me they are. I get there 5 minutes later and the lady tells me theyre no longer accepting cars for that day. I tell her I just called and was told otherwise - this guy with an extremely high level of sassiness tells me that the person who answered the phone wouldnt know - not only unapologetic for his colleague but almost angry for me questioning why he would provide that info if he didnt know. Go to Escondido its worth the drive!
The purchase at the dealership went well, employees very helpful and caring. Shipping a car just 400 took WAY too long. Will never do that again. almost 3 weeks.
Your service and process of selling cars is excellent. I ordered a transfer from another state to test drive. Your customer service and follow-up in keeping me informed was top notch, as well as your service on fixing something on my car in the 30 day time frame. I received a rental car and was updated regularly on the repair process. In addition, you were very fair with the money amount of turning in my old car...I love that you have 30 days to make a final decision on keeping a car. This is exceptional and I will never go to a dealer again...However, your wait-time is too long. It was a 5 hour process from test-driving to buying. You really could improve on that ! On the other hand, I am happy your business is striving. Thank you !!!
Tricia Soderstrom and Tony were very helpful in taking care of me and my family pick the right car for us. The car was great but the people working in Carmax are truly the invaluable asset. Their sense of customer service was way better and beyond than what I personally set for myself to receive! Truly a great experience. Thank you guys.
I came here to sell my car and it was pretty busy so I dropped off my paperwork and they told me to come back later to pick up the check. I had to work that night and was cutting it close when I arrived. Deborah personally helped me out and was fast to ensure I was not late for work even though I had more paperwork since my car was registered out of state. Can not thank her enough thank you so much Deborah.
Everyone was kind and informative. The only suggestion would be to plan on spending 3-4 hours for the entire process for selling only. Not sure of the purchasing procedure
It’s hassle. I already spent 2 he getting carmax appraisal but when I decided to sell the car with the appraised price and process and very lengthy. I came in when store open, waited an hour to get to the front desk to submitted all paperwork. Then i was told it will take 5hrs to get the check. I was left stranded and doesn’t have the car key to go home. Carmax should at least offer a shuttle service. A better way should be online appointment to come in and finish paperwork. This is the longest car selling process I have experienced.
No time wasted and no heckling entire process less than 90 minutes.
During the purchase experience I did not feel like I was more than just a unit being processed but that being said it was a easy and quick experience. Currently the car purchased is in the shop for some minor repairs that CarMax takes care of if you report them within the first 90 days so The loner they gave me is absolutely amazing wish I would have bought it but out of my price range. Which is kind of the point isnt it if you go to CarMax youll find a good car in your budget no matter what.
Very straight forward. No games. No waisting time.
CarMax is without doubt the best place to sell your vehicle. I have sold four cars to them and got great value every time. However, I have a few complaints about this most recent experience.I had a loan on the Chevy Camaro that I sold you. When I did the online appraisal, the printout said that I would need to bring in the title or pay-out information to sell the car. This led me to believe that I had to pay the loan off before I sold you the car. So I paid it off. Then I brought it to CarMax the next day, and was told that I couldn’t sell the car because I had paid the loan off but didn’t have the title yet. I had to wait a month to get the title in the mail, and when I got the car appraised again, it came in $1,200 less than the first appraisal. I still sold the car to you because it was still the best deal, but all this mess could have been avoided had the information from your website clearly explain the rules regarding loans and the title. I lost money and went through a lot of stress because of this. The day I sold you the car, it took half a day to finally get the papers for signing. It did not take this long in the past, maybe an hour or two at most. I hope you can improve turnaround times especially now that COVID is over.Otherwise thanks again.
Sales Rep, Jack G., did great! Service Department did great! EVERYTHING ELSE from selecting the vehicle, having it shipped to the Kearney Mesa store and getting updates on when it would be ready was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I have purchased from Carmax previously, and would not recommend them, unless they improve some HUGE communication issues. One star is too many.
Called at noon and inquired about a specific vehicle. Happened to be an electric vehicle. They confirmed it is still available. I let them know I will be coming in by 4PM and they said that is perfectly fine. I drove an hour, showed up at 4PM only to wait around for an hour and 20 minutes before someone would show me the car. There we were about 5:30PM, waking out to the car to find it completely dead. They had half the day to change the car I called in for almost 6 hours prior. The car was so dead, the battery port would not even open. After I proceeded to show the very helpful but completely lacked of knowledge gentleman how to open to port, we were able to plug it in only to find that the car a really doesnt even take a charge at all. I politely asked to speak with a manager and a fella by the name of Josh came out to chat. Immediately he offered to hold the car for another few days and not sell it to anyone else. Meanwhile, they would troubleshoot the problem and possibly even fix it. Josh did mention he would then transfer the vehicle to a location closer to me but their transfer fee is $99. There was an identical vehicle on the lot, priced $1000 less but apparently, that one was being held for someone.... For a week! I offered to opt for that vehicle since I was already there but that didnt work. There is was, half of my day wasted, looking at Josh who had his hands tied(or so he said) and couldnt do anything for a customer that has purchased several vehicles from this place. Allow me to solve this for you. When someone is interested in an electric vehicle and they clearly tell you which vehicle, charge the car!!!!!!!! If the car doesnt charge, call your customers and let them know!
The process around selling our car went fine - the Carmax team was helpful, polite, professional, and courteous. The business office process needs a lot of attention - the lines are way too long and the process is incredibly slow. We left the office and came back several hours later to get our check, and even then we had to wait far too long. Everyone there was nice - but overwhelmed. There has to be significant work in terms of staffing increase and/or automation - I seriously question whether I will do business with Carmax again.
My experience with pre-ordering the vehicle online was seamless. When I went to pick the vehicle up with payment it took longer than I expected. I appreciate the Covid pre-cautions but it would have been nice to have it communicated to me the approx. time to complete the purchase. I ended up staying till closing and their printer died, I ha to come back in the next day.
Great! My sales person went way beyond the call of duty and answered my questions even on her day off!
Ive returned to Carmax due to my first experience years ago. I like the haggle-free environment which makes for a pleasant experience. Also, the sales rep are courteous and professional. The recent sales rep Ive dealt with was Jordan. The young man was straight to the point and honest. Hes got a bright future ahead of him. I ended up leaving the lot with the car of my choice and piece of mind knowing that Im driving off with a quality vehicle!
ZERO STARS Terrible experience absolutely terrible, the service department will not even pick up the phone(if you look at other reviews it seems to be a trend.) Four days after purchase and I have called every day and the only guy that answered is the sales guy that sold me the car, mind you thats not even his job, I called him as a last ditch effort and was told someone would be in contact with me, never happened. Once they give you the car good luck getting any kind of service.
I needed to sell my car because I can now walk to work, and the people at Carmax were all very helpful and gave me a fair price without any hassle. They did not pressure me to buy something new. It was during a very busy Memorial Day weekend week so it was quite busy, but everyone we encountered was very helpful and professional.
Professional staff especially Collin. He was very helpful and informative, answering all our questions.
The Business Office was a total joke. There was at least 8 people back there, absolutely no one in line or in the showroom and they still made me wait FOUR HOURS. That was an absolute joke. Where is BOLT’s speed there?
Eric and his team are amazing! As a woman, going in solo, I felt very confident I was not getting finagled. Eric and his team were very patient, honest and friendly. Just the right amount of everything. I have been to CarMax twice now for two different vehicles and I have always had amazing experience.
I am very happy to say this location gave me top notch service! Rey went above and beyond in helping me find the perfect car.Only thing they failed to mention my 2018 Chevrolet Volt had a recall. The tire on right back also keeps going low in the pressure.I called CarMax regarding the recall they said they can’t fix that. I have to deal w Chevrolet.
They work hard to ensure customers are taken care of. Very popular dealership so therefore very busy. Everyone involved in the process does their best to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience. Great selection and good prices. Thank you CarMax.
I bought 2 cars from that store .... great service, & attention to detail
CarMax is a VERY busy place, so if you are planning to sell your car, be prepared to wait several hours. Its not that they are slow, they are just dealing with a huge influx of business these days. I made the mistake of trying to go in the afternoon and when I got there, they were no longer buying cars that day, so I had to come back early the next morning before they officially opened and there were already like 10 people in line. Once I was assisted and the process began, everything went fairly smoothly. I was selling a car that still had a few months left on the lease so it took a little bit longer than it would if you owned the car outright or had it financed. But they gave me a very good price (way more than any dealership) and I was able to use that equity to put a down payment on a new car. A few hours after I arrived they handed me a check for the difference and that was that.
I sold my significant other vehicle with CarMax for a great price after it was assessed at the high end of the Kelly Blue book value. After this experience I gave the assessor and the business office high praise and five stars after my interaction.I then decided to sell my own vehicle after this pleasant experience. Now compared to the first vehicle sold my vehicle is in much better condition with all the necessary maintenance records available and always kept clean and tidy. However, on the day of valuation I was assigned Tim the assessor who valued my vehicle at a low ball amount way below KBB value. I now have to rescind my previous rating down to one star given the quote given. I honestly believe it comes down to who you have as an assessor on the day you attempt to value your auto. I’m positive that if I went to a different Carmax with a much more pleasant assessor my valuation would be much more acceptable and worthwhile to sell.
Spent an hour sitting in the sun waiting for them to appraise my car, when all they did was put the model, year and mileage into their website (which I had done already). Wasted my gas and time. No consideration for condition of vehicle and not even any questions about maintenance. They dont care. They just give you a low-ball offer to offset any unexpected issues that may result from their expedited buying process... Appraiser insisted they were the best saying were the biggest car dealer in the country. Well, McDonalds is the biggest hamburger dealer in America, and I can definitely see the similarities. If youre willing to take 20% below the lowest KBB estimate on an almost new car, youre welcome to deal with this awful place. Not for me..
Excellent help was fast and easy our sales guy was awesome my brother in law even bought a car off of him
I came in the late afternoon with my 3 sons. I thought the experience would be easy and smooth particularly since I was paying cash. Granted my car, a Mazda CX5 was not the most expensive car on your lot, but I didnt appreciate the fact that the sales woman took so very long to train someone new..even how to use the computer!! It took hours longer than necessary to complete the sale. You should train people with a mock customer!!
Made an appointment and 7 hours later, told 15 min to sign and finalize, another hour went by. Person just came and said another 15 min. Slow and keep apologizing. They act nice but service is horrible.Quote was ok but service and finalizing, horrible! Supposed to be quick and easy and clearly is not!
It wasnt quick, they are very thorough and that takes time. Besides, I had my work with me and had where else to be. I look around at all the cars and chat with some of the employees. I would totally recommend Carmax.
My visit went really well. Everyone was social distancing and following protocol. The sales rep who assisted me with my new car was very helpful and friendly! He made sure I was comfortable and made sure I understood everything. Overall, I highly recommend Carmax to everyone.
Excellent experience highly recommend shopping here again! Thank you for the amazing service!
On my last 2 visits I had the most wonderful experience with my sales representative Jesse at kearny Mesa. She was polite, fast, attentive and so much more. I finally got the suv I wanted Toyota Highlander 2018 and I love it❤️
Great vehicle- 2015 Highlander Hybrid Platinum, Great Offer on my Trade-In, Great Service from Rene who stayed late to close my sale after hours (I arrived late) and in about 90 minutes the deal was done, Great Service from Manager Tim who held onto my trade in so I could return and remove items I forgot. HIGHLY Recommend Car Max EASY & STRESS FREE! Thanks to All! Ron
We had an easy and successful experience at CarMax. We were able to sell our car to them for the fair market value price without hassle. Then we found the car we needed for our current circumstances, again at fair market value price, and purchased it easily. We are new big fans of CarMax!
Online appraisal was easy. Customer service was great. Cole Horn appraised my car fairly and thorough. Final appraisal was easy. Dominic Deanda and other Employees in the Business office were all polite and all I had to do was pretty much sign! Carmax made me this experience awesome!
I came in on Sunday to purchase a Bmw X5 on Sunday and as I sat down with Brian Heaton to buy the X5 and he asked me if I would be selling a vehicle to you. I said yes I had a leased Jeep to sell. He said hold on I dont know if we can purchase it from Chrysler financial. I said that I had gotten the jeep appraised on friday and Tim had told me to talk with your Business office to confirm that you could buy my leased vehicle. I talked with the lady at the counter and she checked with a couple of people and said Yes. I think her name was Gloria. Brian came back and said I would have to come back doing the week after calling Rick in the business office.I talked to Ricky on Monday and he said that someone would call after 10am. Allison called and told me that you could buy the Jeep. SHE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD GET THERE AROUND 8:30 BECAUSE THERE WILL BE A LINE!!. I GOT THERE AT 8:45 WALKED INSIDE THE WAITING ROOM AND CONFIRMED THAT THE 3 OF THE 4 GUYS WAITING WERE THERE TO SELL THEIR VEHICLES TO CARMAX. THERE WERE NO ONE WAITING OUTSIDE. AT 10:00AM A LADY CAME OUT FROM THE BUSINESS AND ASKED IF WE WERE THERE TO SELL OUR VEHICLES WE SAID YES. SHE GAVE US A JACKET AND TOLD US TO COMPLETE THE INFO. SHE THEN WENT OUT SIDE AND RETURNED IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES. SHE BROUGHT THE PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE AND DIRECTED THEM TO THE ROPES TO FORM A LINE. WE SAID WAIT WE WERE HERE BEFORE ANY OF THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE AND ASKED HER WHY DIDNT SHE TELL US TO GET IN LINE WHEN SHE FIRST CAME FROM THE BACK OFFICE. SHE CHUCKLED AND SAID YOU WORK IT OUT AND WENT INTO THE BACK OFFICE!! YOU HAVE A GREAT BUSINESS CONCEPT, WHY NOT KEEP MAKING IT BETTER?
I had to wait 6 hours the first day to sell my car after the appraisal on a Satruday. They could not complete the transaction becuase they said Toyota had an interest in the a Jaguar i had bought form Carmax and finaced through Chase Manhantan at car max.I was not contacted all weekend i had to call corporate on Monday and it was resolved immediatelty. In summary it took three days.
I purchased a new car (new to me) on March 18th but noticed a burnt out bulb and a piece of decorative trim that was falling off. I called CarMax to make an appointment and they were able to get me in on April 1st. I arrived early and was able to drive my car right into the service area. Everyone was VERY friendly and an hour later both issues had been fixed and I left. It was a very pleasant and easy experience.
I recently purchased a SUV and it had some AC issues. I called to the location on Balboa Ave. Aubriana answered and made sure I will have an appointment, they were busy so the closest appointment was 2 weeks out, which was fine to me. Once I dropped the vehicle, Audriana was nice enough to call me and let me know that the repair will take longer than usual, so she gave me a rental and off I went.Sadly, the mechanics were not as professional as Aubriana, they fixed the AC issue but they destroyed the front bumper in the process, I showed Aubriana the damage and she immediately assure me it would be fixed and apologized for the inconvenience. It took them around 3 days to fix the front bumper (about right time) and I can not complain of the final result. Thanks to Aubriana, my experience was a pleasant one, Im sure that without her I would have react differently, shes a pro and because of employees like her I recommend this place... However, if you take your vehicle for service, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS right before you leave it to them (as I did) just in case the mechanics do whatever they want.4 out 5 stars just because the lack of care of the mechanics; Aubriana Osorio saved the day.
