Donut Star even has fancy-fied donuts for those who need to have flair. My favorite is the original buttermilk, glaze twist and cinnamon roll. Yes, my donut taste is basic. But there is no oily residue or pastry sticking to the roof. These are my reasons I would recommend Donut Star:1. Inexpensive2. Donuts are fresh from am to late evening3. This was my first time at Donut Star and I had a good experience. You can see the donuts we got in the picture. I feel like the service was pretty good. The donuts tasted fresh. There was a large variety of donuts to choose from which is always a plus. The chocolate bar was bland tasting, there needed to be more frosting and flavor. My wife also mentioned how she would have liked more icing on the glaze donut, but to me it was fine. My favorite was probably the Oreo one. It was delicious. If you want a wide variety of fresh tasting donuts definitely come here.

The Donut Star is a cute little spot. They have their own private parking lot and a couple of tables inside. They offer donuts, breakfast, sandwiches, coffee and more. They have a variety of different flavored donuts. There’s something for everyone!The price is not bad, I think it’s the standard price for donuts. The older man that works at the front was really nice and quite talkative. When I walked in it was as if I’ve known him for a long time! Very cool.The donuts tasted so fresh! Soft and moist you can easily eat two or three of them. Of course my go to flavor is always chocolate or maple but you can’t go wrong with a old fashioned donut! I also had one of their taro coconut donut, those two go together well. Loved it. You might ask di I try them all? Oh yes, I’m not afraid to try ‘em all!Can’t wait til the Next time I come to San Diego! This sure will be one of my stops!!!

Went here to pick up donuts on the way to a meeting. The woman working the front counter said that will be $14.50 and when she came back with my card it was charged for $15.50. Dirty trick to play on loyal customers, especially with so many donut shops nearby!

Hands down the best donuts in town! Not only are these donuts a great price but they have a lot of unique donut flavors that the more “bougie” shops have. Definitely try the maple bacon bar, the apple fritter, and the ube donut!Also do not pass up a freshly made smoothie! I have tried the watermelon, and the orange dreamsiscle, and they were both some of the best smoothies I have had! Better than Jamba Juice and half the cost.

My sister took me on a donut tour of San Diego when I was visiting (best sister ever) and these were my favorite (and hers too) - fluffy, crispy, melt in your mouth. YUM. The owners are a sweet couple - very friendly and welcoming, and so joyful with my 3 year old. My spouse decided later that week to bring 6 dozen into the office - it was a hit of course!

I found this donut shop while walking in the Mission Hills area. I peaked inside and planned on only buying one or two. I think I ended up buying six. All were delicious and light (not heavy like some donuts) and very fresh. I couldn’t believe the low prices. Customer service was great. I had to pace myself and only eat one a day. In fact I’m going back tomorrow to stock up on more!!!

This place is fantastic. Skip all the fancy $6 per donut places and go to an honest $1.50 donut from a hard working family place who stay up all night to have them ready at 6AM. Or get bacon egg and cheese croissant for $4, they’re incredible. AND they even have those fancy donuts, you want a s’mores donut piled 4” high with toppings? They have that too.

I really hate to write bad reviews .but I got me some DUNUTs from this place .but when the Employee was putting the DUNUTS in the box was coughing .right there.. yes she had her Mask on but this was very unpleasantso if you ask me if I go back ..yes you guesst right Ill probably never go back again. Hands down, one of the best donut places are the San Diego area. It was hard to only pick a few, they all looked so delicious! I picked the Oreo donut and the banana Nutella donut and OMG....so amazing and fluffy. The Nutella donut was filled with banana and Nutella, yet wasn’t overwhelming or heavy. Both donuts were so airy and fluffy! Definitely recommended

They made a mistake and charged my friend $88 instead of 8, told us to come back on Monday when the owner would be there so we can get a refund, we went she didn’t show up, told us to come Thursday, we did, again she didn’t show up. They kept making dumb excuses not to refund her. Don’t go there cause unless you want to be charged $80 over.

Im slightly addictive to their taro coconut donut. I like the dough they use, not too light not too heavy. Some of the glazes were super sweet, even for standard glaze. But nothing milk cant fix. Or soda. Or water. To each their own. Purchased an assorted dozen and it was $19 and some change...so a little pricey as far as donuts go. Will I go back? Yes. For the taro. Cause Im addicted. Its also pretty and purple. I enjoy eating pretty food.

I stopped by here after going by Donut Haven (which was closed) and I was thrilled. I was visiting the area from Alabama and had a Donut craving. Bought a dozen donuts, about 8 different types, all for $9.50. Every one was delicious and huge. The lady running the store was very patient as I took a while selecting my donuts. Highly recommend!!

This spot is not cute it’s dirty and flies were on napping on the damn donuts. The donuts smell and taste like grease no real flavor and definitely a step down from your worst donut spot.

Usually this place is awesome, last week and this week there was a odd taste (fishy) to the donuts. The owners offered for me to bring them back, unfortunately I live in chula vista and dont feel up to driving back to hillcrest and had only stopped by after leaving work at a hospital near by. Wont be going back, taste is declining. And they no longer make powdered sugar blueberry donuts which i would specifically come here for.

Best donuts Ive had in a decade. The maple bar was fresh and a tiny bit crispy on the edges, cool on the inside but not doughy. The maple was perfectly smooth and sweet and melty in your mouth. The raspberry filled donuts were perfectly glazed, again cool on the inside without being doughy, with rich and smooth filling. Donuts here are A+++++. Really great donut joint.

I hate to say I had a bad experience here because the donuts are at least average, some certainly above average, but the service was horrible and I will not return.And the donuts are outrageously expensive!! While the menu says its only 9.99 for a dozen, about half the donuts dont count for that deal. So I boldly decided to just order what I wanted..big mistake..It was $34 for approximately 13 donuts and 3 cream horns. Can you believe that!???? $34!!Plus, the young lady selling the donuts was in an incredibly bad mood. She was not helpful.. .when I asked her favorite shake, bc they have like 20 flavors, she said she didnt drink them and gave me the impression they werent good. Terrible bedside manner and I felt unwanted and rushed. I also feel like she was trying to charge me as much as humanly possible for each and every donut. Honestly I think I was overcharged because how could 13 donuts and three cream horns be $34!!!I just feel really bad leaving this place. all around I dont like the way I was treated and I feel ripped off. Nice donuts but nothing so spectacular to put up with all this stuff.

I drive 20 minutes each way every Saturday morning. Always fresh products, very attentive staff, nice and unusual selection of tasty treats.The raised donuts are fresh, soft and nicely topped, the cake donuts are never crunchy and always leave you wanting one more.

Delicious!! In the mood for something sweet. I got a peach smoothie. Its a little creamy but delish!!. They were so sweet and so kind. Its family owned and I love it. My daughter got a mango strawberry smoothie and we got a baked good. Not sure what its called but its delish!!. The straws are big, service was fast and great customer service.

Pretty tasty donuts. The apple fritter had chunks of apple you could see and thats a bonus in my book. Its a little rough on the inside without much seating but donuts are portable.

This is one of the best doughnuts in this area!Why? They are very clean, they make doughnuts of all types, cake, filled, strudel, beer claws, stuffed cones, all types of Jellies. I like that they DO NOT RE-USE their oil past its prime and their oil is never overheated...and you can taste the difference between a shop that does and one that doesnt burn their oil and reuse it for too many frying sessions.They cook their doughnuts in small batches, so you are sure to get fresh doughnuts until about 10 pm.They also offer breakfast treats, such as croissants, egg sandwiches, lunch subs, and fresh squeezed cold pressed juices.They are quick to notice and they have am ample parking, including disabled parking.They are right on the corner and the great part is that theirs a grocery store, VONS, so you can get your groceries and walk over for some fresh doughnuts.They have restroom facilities and you can eat on the premises.
