Great little community / volunteer / co-op run shop, decent selection for a small book store these days. They seem to do a very good job featuring local and outstanding new publications.
Great community run business. Staffed by volunteers with a nice vibe and a room set aside for art exhibitions. During non-COVID tones I believe they have live events as well (poetry readings, musicians, etc). I highly recommend supporting this place.
The coolest place you have to go there
Ive been buying books at this store since 1991, when I lived on Albion Street. In addition to selling great books, this book store is all about fostering a community. Without a doubt, one of the reasons San Francisco is still a city worth living in.
They have a wonderful selection of books and lots of art going on all the time. It’s all community center actually — for arts and music. There’s regular concerts and other events. It’s actually largely run by volunteers now which is a measure of how much of a strong community they have and how much people love it.26+ years of making Culture.
Nice book smell, very quaint and historic, feels very historic and community-centric. Staff was kind and knowledgable. Found some nice books on plant care and from Kurt Vonnegut.
Very cozy place! Stumbled upon this bookstore on our way to La Reyna. They have a good selection and we made some interesting finds.
Very friendly local bookstore! The owner was kind enough to let me take some books I liked and come back to pay later as I had forgotten my wallet. I appreciate it!
I love this bookshop. If youre looking for a classic or even if youre not, the selection is great, and the way the shop is set up makes it really easy to find what youre looking for. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and the space is really cozy. There are a couple of places to sit, too. Decent prices for not-too-worn secondhand books.
Very quiet old-school bookstore. It is very small but there are even some nooks for sitting to read a book if youd like. There are some great finds here!
Great store, amazing selection and super helpful staff. I mean it. Im used to walking into small bookstores just to be ignored by pretentious horn-rimmed intellectuals, but the staff here were not only extremely nice and knowledgeable, but worked very hard to help me find what I was looking for. I would have come in just for the conversation we had about the books I was buying.
I love that I found this real book store via an artists mural in the mission district. I love art, I love the city, and I especially love meaningful graffiti. 5 stars for being such a great place that an artist would want to recreate it and kudos to the artist for being so accurate with the details that I immediately found it
The have the best books in town and also tne best poetry reading !
Nice bookstore in the Mission. really helps create the hip literary atmosphere of the mission. i like the interior and their offerings. Fun bookstore.
I love the selection of old books here. Have tripped upon some gems each time I visit.
Adobe Books is a longstanding SF hub for artists, vagabonds, and the curious. With over 25 years in the Mission, theyve fostered a diverse community of collaborators and supporters who stood with the establishment when they were on the verge of being obliterated from map.Though I miss their original spot on 16th Street, the new location is much easier to navigate. Lingering encouraged, so grab a seat and read, make new friends, and support!
Pretty small. Knowledgeable staff. Mind widening selection.Sometimes will be missing a specific book, but youll always find something to interest you.
Lovely place with a large selection of good and nice books. A paradise for people love read and more !
Loved the monkeys devouring books in da back...like sandwiches they were. just dont try to steal your book back...my little grrrl got bit....but then it ran to get her a comic book. OKAAAY..., she said. thanks, Adobe.
Very nice. They had live music. I bought a couple of sci-fi books Ive been meaning to read. Lots of bars and restaurants near by.
Good collection of books, friendly staff, near public transit
Great coopt run bookstore. Always interesting titles especially in back section.
Excellent staff and I found a great book.
They had the an interesting selection of the mysteries I was looking for.
No electronic record search but staff who know everything. Great small bookstore
Adobe Book Shop has moved to 24th Street, for your continued enjoyment. They may soon regain the musty clutter we knew and loved. Dont forget to wander to the art space in the rear.
Quaint place. Very friendly, and good variety of books.
Adobe continues to impress me with their inventory and monthly readings.
Really good selection of books. Nice atmosphere & the price is good.
Awesome bookstore! Cant wait to go back.
It is really good and different book store, definitely check it if you are near
Fantastic selection of used books at even better prices.
Great to browse for random finds, hang out on the couch, or visit in the evening for a reading, poetry, or music event.
A great indie bookstore. I love the ambiance and selection!
Charming and comfortable spot for new, used and rare books
One of the best used bookstores is moving from 16th st to 24th street in 2013. In additon to a great selection of books, there is always an art show (including one where all the books in the store were arranged by color).
Lovely people, cozy space, good selection of books, great art in the backroom gallery!
Warm, charming worker-owned bookshop
Great community institution!
Beautiful shop with great customer service
Great shop, with frequent reading events.
Mildly disheveled bookshop that hosts interesting events.
Great bookstore!
Theyve got a huge used selection in a store that is awesomely cluttered in a way that only used book stores can be.
Best used bookshop in the world
A cultural center in the form of a neighborhood book store
Nice, cozy bookstore
Wonderful bookstore!
Dingy place, staff extremely rude, homeless sleeping inside.
Wonderful!
I left with a lot of peace, interior, with a lot of coming, and it was a very nice experience, because it is a place with a lot of good energetic vibration. I recommend it.
I found two books that I have been looking for for a while! Very nice bookseller.
