Fun, friendly people who greet you upon your arrival. Many choices of summery, cheery clothing when I was there. Shorts, dresses, t-shirts, tops, hoodies, pants. Loved the fabrics in this shop. They had a clearance section in the back. Three tees for $100. I bought a cute pair of pants with palm trees on them for $99. Would definitely go back.
I love Marine Layer! Their clothes are very high quality and fun - mostly basics but with some statement pieces as well. The storefront itself is marvelous, clean, and airy. The mystery t-shirt vending machine for only $20 is a must-try! What a fun idea.
Comfy clothes.
Cool clothes, helpful staff -- thanks Lauren! Sorry you had to deal with that crazy covid conspiracy theorist :(
Its gone fully mass market. This location is a mess. The clothes used to be made in CA and that was very important to me. Ill look for the next small brand that hasnt become too corporate. Theyre selling the lifestyle of California and the notion of eco, etc... But its basically now Levis (as in headquartered in SF, but nothing made here anymore.)
Best place to shop before and after Christmas! Great quality clothing, American made, and supports local economy thats environmentally conscious.
I love Marine Layer as a brand and I really like the way they remodeled this store (I hadn’t been in for about 18 months). Staff is friendly and the clothes are well made (and incredibly soft!), but the coolest feature by far is the mystery t-shirt vending machine for $20. You just pick your size, insert your card, and out comes a wrapped t-shirt. Very neat!
Great selection and great staff.
Marine layer is an upscale basics boutique that has some pretty enjoyable and trendy clothes. Though the prices can be a bit high for some ($100 for 3 tees), there are great finds to be found. For example, my wife loves here boucle dress and super comfortable sweats. She got them at a reasonable discount, making it well worth it.They also have a nice seating area at the front of the store to take a load off, and they have a free coffee ticket for customers to use at Wills leather goods just a few storefronts over.
Was a pretty big fan of Marine Layer prior to visiting. However, the day that I visited, some of the staff were rather unfriendly as they took over 10 minutes to process another customers return while completely ignoring my girlfriend and I as we waited to purchase a shirt. They didnt apologize and we left feeling kind of disappointed. We were both huge fans of ML and felt we deserved better service especially due to the high price of their apparel.
Beach style in the heart of the city! You walk into this picturesque boutique and see clothing surrounding a large shuffleboard table. The beach vibe is instant! The clothes are incredibly soft and the styles are classic. Basic t-shirts make up most of their inventory, but they had other great pieces, like a coral maxi skirt and a two toned cardigan. There is clothing for both men and women. Prices are mid range, but the quality there is worth the price! A new shopping spot to cruse through on your way through Hayes Valley!
Another great Marine Layer, this one located right in the center of Hayes Valley.Very similar to the locations in the Marina and Palo Alto, just a great place to pick up some quality clothing.
Ive been with Marine Layer for about two years and the clothes are absolutely so soft but yet so good 😊
Didnt buy anything this time, but the store is lovely and staff very friendly and helpful.
Great clothes with SF in mind. Staff is always enjoyable.
Fair prices for very comfortable clothed in san francisco. selection is kind of small.
Super soft, locally made apparel. Awesome return policy!
Locally-made high-quality clothing
Dealing with their smug sales associates is like getting hit in the head repeatedly with a sock full of quarters.
Great selection
