While smaller than many mitsuwa stores Ive been to let me tell you this story is jam-packed with everything you could possibly need just be aware you might want to get there early for the vegetables or the fresh made items like the hamada ya bakery or the onigiri rice balls they sell fast older store but well maintained and over all a great stock of japanese favorites parking is a bit challenging as there is honestly not a lot of room to park but as people come and go quickly from the store I had no issues finding a spot although just a few were there might be tough for larger vehicles also and while its been over a year since I have been to the larger Japanese grocery chains and smaller ones the prices do seem a bit higher here but that could also just be due to the coronavirus pandemic issue I would happily return to the store and shop again the staff and cashier and Patreons were all polite and helpful

Great place to pick up Japanese food and products without having to go to Little Tokyo downtown.I feel safer here than at most stores because they do restrict number of people and I see people wear their masks properly in here. And as always, the store is kept clean and you see the employees cleaning.

I should be grateful that we even have a Mitsuwa. I know a lot of people wish it was like the Torrance one. Trust me I as well, but they still do have some pretty good stuff to buy and pretty good onigiri. The sushi is pretty good and the beef bowl is solid. I just wish the beef bowl was bigger. The pricing is fair I would say. You’re going to be able to buy cheaper vegetables at a 99 ranch or H-mart, but they have some things that you can only find their which makes it unique in its own right. Staff is friendly and the location is easy to get to.

Having lived in Japan for a year, I came here excitedly! I was very pleased to see everything but I’m not sure if it’s because of covid-19 and the logistical disruption but there was barely any stock of anything. The stuff seems to come from Japan (as in imported) so the prices are extortionate. You pay about 3x what you would in Tokyo but I understand completely. I just think 3x is a little cray. But it was nice to be reminded of my time in Japan, and seeing all of these things were nice. I’d skip the produce and get the dried food. The vegetarian gyoza is delicious here!! (In the frozen section).

Prices vary since it is a grocery store, but you can also get cheap but delicious bento boxes and onigiri! Most of the snack items are slightly more expensive, like the Shrimp Chips I can get at Daiso, but then again sometimes I dont want to run to the nearest Daiso and get my shrimp chips cos its farther. Staff is super friendly and they offer you chopsticks if you purchase a bento.I think b/c of COVID, their bento boxes and onigiri tend to sell out real fast. Especially around noon time, theres only a select few onigiris left (my favorite is the salmon!). Just be aware if any of your family/friends are picky about the rice in the onigiri, they might not like it if youve kept it in your fridge after 2-3 days. I forgot they were in my fridge once and my mom snacked on one but didnt like how hard the rice got and threw it away... ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

The best Japanese grocery store in the area! Everything from produces to snacks, what they have are fresh and high-quality😺Here’s my favorites:- In the veggie section, I appreciate Nasu, Shiso, and Gobo which are hard to get- Variety of Natto is fantastic!- Whole bunch of soy sauce and seasonings- Jagabee is like chips, but it looks like French fries. Popular in Japan👍🏼- Frozen Yoshinoya beef bowl has an inventive packaging which vents steam while heating in microwave. Genius🤯One note. Their Hamadaya bread is really good🍞, but usually runs out by the evening. Get there early if you want it.

I love this place almost as much as a hate Covid. I think it’s smaller than some of the other J- supermarkets but I’m not willing to go downtown at the moment, and I certainly am not going to have my elderly parents run around town searching for mochi. I took a gamble and thought it would be less crowded here than other places.I really appreciate how they are keeping the staff and patrons safe by limiting capacity to 15 people inside. That being said, bring a book, layer up, and bring an umbrella because it can get sunny/cold/ boring. I think I waited maybe 35-40 min to get inside, around 11:30am? I felt kind of bad for some of the senior patrons waiting for so long, but I believe they do have senior hours on Saturday.I went to go pick up stuff for ozoni soup for Japanese New Years, and was surprisingly pleased to find fresh mochi still available. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t frozen and then thawed, so I grabbed a few packs and some kamoboko from the freezer and called it a day. I heard the J-stores in West LA were sold out since the weekend, so was happy to find the items I was looking for.Thank you!

What happened to this Mitsuwa, it used to be cleaned, held sufficient inventory, etc., it was better. But, I was disappointed on my last few visits at the store, because some items are expiring very soon, insufficient inventory, unfriendly staff and so on. Being a Japanese national living in Pasadena, Mitsuwa has been wonderful for easy access to Japanese essentials. They do not have as many items as other stores like Tokyo Central or Mitsuwa in South Bay. However, I still find almost everything I need in this store. I regularly use this store to pick up rice, natto, tofu, gyoza (dumplings), kimchi, condiments, nori (seaweed) and thinly sliced beef and pork as well as some seafood. My kids love Japanese sweets and I highly recommend them for not being overly sweet, especially matcha related sweets.I also love buying my shampoo and conditioner as I personally love the fragrance of Japanese products better than the products here in the US. But, if youre allergic to strong scent or perfumes, it might not be for you. They also have some basic skin care products as well at very reasonable price. If you are looking for basic items, this store will do just fine! Just as other reviewers said, you would feel pretty safe in there as they manage crowd control well and people are very responsible in wearing the masks the correct way.

A very good medium sized Japanese supermarket. Good selection of a wide variety of supermarket-type items. Prices were typical of this market niche: pricey, but reasonably so, considering that most items are imported. Japanese visiting the area or living here would be mostly pleased with the store. This is a small store, but with great collections of food. I can find everything most of the time. Only the time I want more selections is the day before New Year to get Japanese Osetchi (New Years traditional dish). Also, Mitsuwa in Torrance has a huge variety of sashimi, but this place has only limited a few sashimi items. Yet, I love this place!
