Mochicream has a stand in Plano, TX at one point and decided to close shop. It was a very sad day to see it go. They had the best mochi ever! Their mochi is flown over from Japan and arrives frozen. Once you thaw it, you get this very soft, delicate texture thats rich and creamy. The most popular one is double mango. Its sold out on the weekends so its best to order a lot if you are a fan of mango. Other flavor that are a hit, cafe au lait, black sesame, blueberry and azuki. Dont let the price deter you from trying the most amazing mochi.
Best mochi in Bay Area! You have to keep it in room temperature for 20 mins to get the best texture. Highly recommended!
The mochi creams are amazing. They thaw like they are fresh and so soft mochi dough. There is very good flavor of the filling without being overly sweet. $2-3 each which I think is a little pricey but worth the treat splurge and great quality that is hard to come by in the bay.
Black. Sesame. Mochi. Just amazing and it’s hard to find but they have it here and it’s good. That may be due to the small amount of cream added to the sesame paste... The texture of the mochi is spot—It’s like a little food poem. Go here and then go back again for more.
Best mochi you can buy.
It’s good but not great. I personally find the cream inside the matcha one too heavy. The red bean one was great.
If beans for dessert doesn’t appeal to you but you want to give mochi a second chance, check out this place. Traditionally mochi is filled with sweetened red or white bean paste, but these are filled with cream. The glutinous rice shells are soft and the cream fillings are light but full of flavor. They come frozen and you have to thaw them for 15- 20 minutes before consuming. They also offer mochido, which is essentially the same thing as mochi but shaped into adorable donuts and “glazed” with chocolate. I’ve tried almost every mochi and mochido flavor they offer and have yet to encounter a flavor I’ve disliked or felt neutral about. I highly recommends the Darjeeling, green tea, black sesame, and double mango.
I was SO excited to see a mochi place at Mitsuwa when I came here to grab a bowl of ramen but was quickly disappointed when I took a bite of my chocobanana mochi ball. I have had some incredible mochi in Little Tokyo in LA, so I have a pretty high standard when it comes to mochi.I thought that the powder was incredibly overpowering and bitter. Perhaps there was just too much on the little mochi ball that I had, but it made the experience of eating it very unpleasant. Also, I thought that the ice cream inside of the mochi was really separated from the mochi exterior which is typically not a good sign for the mochi itself.I dont think that I would try this again, but the place itself was very cute and the woman serving the mochi was very kind. I just wish I had enjoyed my little mochi treat a bit more. :(
Mochicream is a sweets chain from Japan. I was surprised to find it in San Jose. They offer a selection of Mochi (japanese sticky rice balls) and donut shaped mochi. The mochi is actually made in Kobe, Japan and shipped frozen to the US. When you buy some, they remind you to wait at least 20 minutes before eating since they have to thaw out. This reminded me a bit of Ladurée, a french macaron place that flies their macarons around the world (though not frozen).I tasted the green tea donut, café au lait donut, darjeeling mochi and raspberry mille feuille mochi. All had very clear and crisp tastes that can only come from fresh ingredients.Id say this could make a great gift or something to bring to a party.
Very good and special mocha cream
