I didnt actually use their service, because I was disappointed that:1. They took two full days to respond to my first web inquiry2. The quote was high, $200-220 for doing a routine maintenance / checking low engine power3. They never answered my emailed question about when I could bring in my bike4. Updated 12/23/2020: They didnt answer their phone, and their voicemailbox is full.

Excellent place to work on your bike. They have all the tools and Patrick provides his expertise if you need help. Patrick will order spares for you. They also have classes for basic maintenance and inspection. I had never worked on my bike before. Now I have done oil, filter, battery, break pad, spark plugs change by myself. I highly recommend Sarmi Moto.

I went here for the Beginner Motorcycle Maintenance course. I was expecting a simple run-through of where my oil filter was, where my oil drain plug is, how to check chain tension, that sort of simple stuff.Instead, what I got was Patrick sitting me down as he brought out massive painted diagrams of the engine stroke cycle, teaching me exactly how an engine works at a basic level. Then he brought me over to a couple cutaways of engines, cam systems, valves, etc, and showed me how each part of a motorcycle is connected. I learned, hands-on, about every critical component, from the valves and pistons to the clutch system, transmission, etc. Occassionally he would step away from the class to help out one of the other folks in the shop, but he would always invite me over to learn as well from what they were working on. In all it was probably the most productive two hours of learning Ive ever had in my life, and afterwards Patrick was very generous with his time helping me clean and lubricate my chain (which we discovered had tight spots as we went over my own bike during the class). The shop itself is incredibly well-stocked and very well-maintained. There are several workbenches with everything you need to work on most bikes. I think the only thing theyre missing is some very specialized ducati tools, which it sounds like they order on a needed basis. Patrick seems to have a line in with wholesalers and parts shops and was quoting very reasonable prices on parts to everyone in the shop. He was very generous with time and prices to regulars, for example, one person just wanted to use the parts washer but not actually use a lift, and a deal was worked out.Ive had people argue that a place like motoguild is useless because it makes more sense to just get your own tools and wrench at home. Regardless of the fact that we live in the Bay Area and few of us even have a garage, I *do* have a garage and will prefer to do all my work at motoguild. Besides the guarantee that theyll have whatever tool I need, there will also be a host of folks (including the shop owner himself) with a lot more knowledge than me that I can learn from and also just chat with while I work on my bike. They also have oil and chemical disposal and other things that are just a nuisance to deal with. If youre renting a lift even just for an oil change, thatll be plenty of time to use the parts washer to clean and lube your chain, test your battery, etc as well, so worth the ~60$ or whatever it would cost of lift time. Finally, I should note that Patrick (who I believe runs the shop) is just about the most realistic and honest mechanic (probably should be labeled engineer, really) I have ever met. There was not a single line of BS or condescension from him the entire three or four hours I was in the shop to me or anybody, despite the fact that we all ran the gamut of experience. When I stumped him with a question about engines he admitted he didnt know, when I said something objectively stupid he patiently brought me to an understanding. This is a good shop run by some good folk, Im lucky its in my area and I highly recommend you just rent a lift for your next oil change to get a feel for the place, or even just swing by and say hello (I think they do motoGP watch parties and the like).

Best place in San Jose to work on your bike. Shop owner Patrick will even assist you with his skills and years of experience. He helped me extract a broken bolt (my mistake) and saved my bike today. Good thing that the shop is conveniently located across the street from Orchard supply store (I picked up a replacement bolt for my clutch spring). If you like working on your bike and meeting friendly people who love to tinker, come and visit!

Everyone with a bike should check this place out. I had a lesson at the SF location, and also took my bike to the SJ location. I was able to dismantle the plate and light assembly in a perfect working environment with all the tools I needed. Staff is very helpful every step of the way.It beats struggling at home with a limited set of tools in a poorly lit environment and looking at random forum posts.

Five shops told me they wouldnt take on the fork seals from my 1987 Goldwing. So, I prepared for some DIY. By chance, I found MGSV, and I am glad I did. The owner, Patrick, guided me through the steps I needed help with. What a great combo: a place to work and 1:1 help when its needed. I cant imagine having done this at home in my garage. The job took me the greater part of the day but I never would have been able to do it without Patrick and MGSV. Thanks for welcoming me and my bike when others wouldnt - Im so happy the job is done now! Even happier it was done safely and correctly - I learned a ton!
