Great honest service. Get the helm local deal for 5 years of board maintenance, totally worth it!Staff was not only knowledgeable but friendly. They walked me through all the different types of boards, helmet and bindings. They didnt have it in stock but it didnt stop them from explaining. I recently visited Helm of Santa Clara and was honestly pretty lost as to putting together a set up. The boys up front spent over an hour with me going through board, bindings, and gear until I was stoked with my whole set up!The employees here are avid boarders and are very knowledgeable. Thank you guys for your patients in getting me set up with my 152 LIBtech Skate Banana board and all my other snow gear 💯

Whoever manages this location should be fired for not training better basic customer service. Politeness is so easy and cheap.

Amazing Customer Service!!! I came in to go through the long process of getting fitted for ski boots. It has been almost 20 years since my last boot purchase so I wanted to get a good fit and the only place is the South Bay is Helm. I was assisted by Chris. Man what a pro. Extremely knowledgeable and super patient. Really tried to get a good fit for me but unfortunately the products in my size did not do the trick. Will go back many more times for all my ski gear as their customer service and overall knowledge is unrivaled in the South Bay.

I don’t write a lot of reviews, but this was one of the best sales experiences I’ve ever had. I came in to get fitted for new ski boots, and Justin was super knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. After fitting me and trying a few, there was a pair that seemed to meet my needs, but Justin said he thought I needed a half size smaller, which they didn’t carry. Instead of selling me on boots that were too large (like larger retailers would) he recommended I go to another boot shop that is as knowledgeable as Helm. I really appreciated his honesty and obvious depth of knowledge, and will definitely only buy boots from Helm/Justin in the future. Highly recommend!

This is a great place to rent skis and top box cargo for your car if you cant afford to buy one. We had to get a box for our car, its a roof cargo you put on top of your car for luggage or skis. The lady had to help me put it up my car and thank goodness she was tall and knew how to install it. It wasnt hard but its always best when someone knows what theyre doing. Very good customer service. Will be back if we ever decide to buy one.

Do not come here - Wait was 1.5 hours and bad attitudeWaited 1.5 hours because they were understaffed and only had 1 person managing the rentals while there were 3 big families in line. Meanwhile they had 5 people chilling near the register.When we suggested to them that they can staff more people downstairs next time, one of the older female workers got very defensive and had a bad attitude telling us off. Don’t come to this place. If she’s the head manager then this business is a lost cause, bad leadership from top down.

Excellent fitters!Been here twice for boot fittings and my wife and I have had a great experience each time. Paul really went above and beyond making sure that we were taken care of and ready to head out this winter.

They tried to me charge $75 for boot molding. Other shops charge $10. This is a massive rip off. Do not get your gear worked on by this shop.

A worker literally told me to go to REI or Amazon to find a better selection. Teenage workers have attitudes and no real customer service skills. Be warned!!! This business is a waste of space!

Way better quality rental skis than those rentals at the ski resort. The guy behind the rental counter was very nice on helping my group to get the correct sized boots, skis and poles. Easy and relatively quick rental process. My current place for ski rentals in the Bay Area and recommend this place to anyone else needing ski rentals.

If you want to buy stuff from consignment AND if youre new for skis, youre much better off going else where. You can expect very little help.If you want your skis serviced (adjustments/mounts/repair), this is easily a good place to be.I gave them 2 stars because of the extremities of the service.Their ski shop service is excellent. 5 stars for them. David was exceptional.Chris (usually at the checkout counter) on the other hand was the polar opposite. He was never sure of anything. Asked him if the skis I purchased for my son would work for him. Answer was: Maybe. Asked him few more questions, answers were, yes and no, could be. The indifference directed towards me was maybe because im Asian Indian.The skis I purchased didnt work out because the bindings on it wouldnt be enough for my sons height/weight. If Chris had did taken 5 min of his time to check, this couldve been easily avoided. Fortunately David from shop (where i had given the skis for mounting) helped us swap it for something that would fit my son.Also it turned out the boots we picked, the right and left ones were of different sizes. This too couldve been avoided if the shop checked the items theyre selling are right.Fortunately the other set was still there in the consignment section and we were able to get same size left and right boots.Clearly the shop is not willing/afraid to help customers wishing to purchase items from consignment, either due to liabilities or maybe they dont make enough money on it. Its a shame because it is these customers who come back to buy more stuff. I will buy next set of skis for my son when he outgrows this pair else where.

I found this is the best place in Bay Area to rent snowboard or ski. They have weekend special rent on Thur and return on Monday for 50 and up. And they have better selection of rental equipment.

Helm had a wide variety of snow pants available in February, which is apparently late in the ski season. I had visited to REI locations but could find only very limited inventory, all in XXL sizes and the like. Helm had what I needed. Also, the employees there were very helpful and seemed like they were all passionate about snow sports. What a great experience.One other thing - I had picked out a pair of pants from a 20% off rack, but I guess those pants werent actually supposed to be there. The employee gave me the discount anyway. Great customer service!

Super helpful staff - made a repair to 15 year old ski boots with no problem, quickly and reasonably priced. Great selection as well, Ill return here when its time to upgrade my ski gear.

Smaller business with focus on customer service. Given my past treatment, I will always recommend Helm of Sun Valley as THE place for all Bay Area ski and snowboard equipment, service, and rental.This past weekend, I was stranded in Tahoe with a set of rented skis from Helm and was unable to return them on time. When I showed up, I let the folks know of my struggles (and 12 hour ride back) and they waived any late fees.I cannot recommend this place enough.

Bought a pair of snowboard boots late last season and ended up with raw ankle bones. 8 months later took them back and they spent 45 minutes adjusting them. The feel great!

Ive been to this store last year and had terrific help, I spent $800 on clothes/gloves/goggles. So, I decided to take my sister to get her gear at this location as well. We picked a jacket, pants, and gloves. The last thing we needed was ski shoes, so we had help from a 6 foot 200lbs Caucasian male with orangish hair.My sister picked the one on display and he modified it, by putting some $50 insoles into the boot.He said we have to pay for the boot + $50 for insoles.When I asked him can my sister try the shoes without the insoles, he told me I am fitting her, not you!I said, I know, but I am paying for it. Can you fit it without the insoles?He then grabbed the shoes default insole and held in the air and said, You want this SHITTY thing? over insoles?In my mind I was thinking that I already was going to spend $750, and I didnt want to spend another $50. So, I asked him, Can you just give her the shoe with no insoles? Like the one they have on display?He said, I wont fit her. I dont fit shoes like that.I told my sister lets go and while we were leaving, he was saying out loud that he would never ski or snowboard the way we do.I told him before I left the store, I didnt mind that you were trying upsale me, but you dont have to be rude.
