These guys are great! If I could give them 10 stars, I would. They were so nice, professional, and had an answer to every question I had. They ran diagnostics for FREE! What a relief. Im struggling just like everyone else these days with family, work, the pursuit of my dreams, and they couldnt have been more helpful. They explained clearly that they couldnt guarantee that they could fix the problem but they would use their years of experience, training, and a little bit of elbow grease to get the job done. Long story short, they restored my hard drive with an unbelievably fast turnaround. I would have paid an arm and a leg to get my computer fixed and I was pleasantly surprised at a $260 bill to restore my lifes work. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Mike and Casey and I would will refer anyone in the vicinity of San Marcos to contact them for any computer repair. Very satisfied!!!

I needed a battery replacement for my laptop, I guess I could have ordered the battery myself. My laptop the back cover needed to be taken off to get to the battery. So I let the guys here do it so I didnt mess up anything. I have no complaints services are reasonable and they have good communication. No complaints.

I brought my computer here in December 2020. My laptop would not power up, so I took it here because they offered free diagnostics. I thought it was rare to come across a company so confident in their skills that they would do something like that. Kind of like finding a mechanic you can really trust. They said they would get back to me by the next day. They didnt, so I called them. They hadnt gotten around to it and said they would call by the end of the next day. They didnt, so I called them. They quoted me a repair price (that was about average according to a quick internet search). I asked what part was bad according to the free diagnostics. They said they wont do the diagnostics until I agree to pay for the repair first. How can you ask me to pay for a repair if you dont know what is wrong with it yet?I am shamed to say that I needed the laptop, so went ahead and paid for the repair. It now does power on... so they did fix it. But my trust in this enterprise is completely non-existent and (because the price of the repair was average for what it cost anywhere) I will certainly research other options the next time I need computer repair!***Update: It is now June 2021 (6 months later) and the computer wont turn on again. Shoddy workmanship and unreliable repair!******Update: I left a negative review because I spent 7 years in the US Armed Forces defending my right to do so. You have that right too. You are welcome. This seems to have become a case of he said, she said, but you most certainly did tell me that you would not do the free diagnostic until after I agreed to pay for the repair. No, I do not believe that 8 months is a decent amount of time for a computer to work. If my car starter died again after only 8 months, I most certainly would not bring my car back to the same mechanic. And in my original review, I said that I would not bring it back to this business and why, so that answers the question of why I didnt. Everything I said in my original review still stands... plus this.***

I had these guys build my new gaming pc. They were communicative and especially helpful when I had issues/questions. My new rig looks great and runs perfect, would recommend anyone to them.

Quick turn around time. Great customer service. Craftsmanship. As a native San Martian, this is my go-to computer repair. Kacey and Mike are incredible at what they do, provide great communication and education. They restored and upgraded my all-in-one computer. If you have a computer question, they have the solution.

If I could give negative stars I would. They are rude, condescending and will take advantage of any given situation. They did give a free diagnostics. After that just horrible. They know that Im trying to raise my three granddaughters for my very ill daughter and working on a masters degree in mental health counseling and my entire degree is trapped in my computer and still zero compassion. To replace my hard drive and maybe, no guarantee, save all my data. No guarantee and they want $265...$175 is all labor. To just remove and replace a few screws and push a few buttons and they want $175. I wish I could give them negative 5 stars. Very distressed over how they treated me over all else.

What a great experience I just had taking my computer into San Marcos Computers LLC. I pride myself on being computer literate, but this time when I built my computer I just could not get it to work! I was able to take it in to them, and they had a social distance drop off available. I got it back working within a few hours and they explained to me what steps I missed. Highly recommend taking your complex or simple problems to these folks! 10/10!

Had my gaming rig die on me this weekend! Mike was able to establish that my motherboard had fried and installed the new parts for me. Was extremely patient and transparent while answering all of my questions. Extremely happy to have everything back up and running. Would highly recommend.

Do NOT waste your time/money here!!!I went here a few weeks ago after I got a new processor and my computer stopped turning on and wouldn’t connect to my monitor. I had tried most simple fixes myself but didn’t wanna deal with it so I entrusted the employees here. They told me my motherboard was fried, my new AND old processor had bent pins and I would have to get both of those parts completely brand new elsewhere. I paid $50 for this LIE. I took my computer back and my friend and I decided to take a look at it ourselves. The old CPU didn’t have ANY bent pins and the new CPU had 1 barely bent pin which we easily unbent ourselves, then we simply took apart the computer and re-installed all the parts and BOOM it was working 100% like normal again perfectly fine. They were about to cost me $350 on a new processor that was “broken” and $150 on a motherboard that was “fried” These guys have no clue what they’re talking about and I doubt they even genuinely look at the computers they handle. Do not recommend!

This is about my 4th time going to this store and every time they have been relatable. Theyre mostly professional, but with a realism that i have come to expect and respect. Theyre very knowledgeable about what theyre capable of doing and are very capable of explaining in detail what they will/are doing. I took my PC in because i needed the Liquid Cooler removed and they did it in about 4 minutes and completely free of charge. I highly recommend, and will 100% be going there in the future for all my computer problems.

So glad I found this place! Great customer service and varied selection to browse for a used laptop or tower. If they dont have what you want there in the shop, they can probably get it for you within a week. Mike really helped me get what I needed for a very affordable price and went above and beyond during this process. Id give 10 stars for customer service if I could. After shopping around for other options online, I decided that this shop (with their 6 month warranty on their laptops) was the best place to buy a used laptop without risking a bad refurbished computer experience. Yes, there are slightly cheaper used laptops online at other places, but you dont really know what youre getting with those other shops and youre definitely not getting the same customer service experience. Mike wont sell you a piece of work like some of the online refurb shops (Ive read a ton of reviews about other shops selling non-working laptops), and Mike and Casey update the software and set up everything for you prior to the sale. If something does indeed go out on your computer within a very reasonable time frame (6 months), theyll take care of it. In comparison, Ive seen online shops only offer a 30 day warranty. In the end, after buying from San Marcos Computers, Im here using my new awesome laptop that has everything that I need and Im super satisfied with the price that I paid. Very honest shop, Id trust them to sell a quality refurbished computer to anyone. Give Mike and Casey a chance if youre debating buying a used computer from San Marcos Computers!

I bought a desktop computer here. Customer service is very good.

I didnt pay them for anything, but I bought a new hard drive best buy and hooked it up myself. I was mystified to see that my hard drive wasnt detected by the operating system, so I gave these guys a call on my cellphone telephone.As it turns out, I had to format the disk and create a partition so it could be read by the file system! SUPER helpful- now I have a whole terabyte for my computer games.👍

Mike is great! I went to him for help fixing my touch screen that was cracked. He gave me a price that was almost $200 less than everywhere else I checked. There was some issues getting the right screen from his supplier so it took a little longer than expected, but he kept me updated the whole time. Great place with awesome people!

I bought my first Mac from him, it was a refurbished Macbook Pro 2011 (he refurbishes them himself and is qualified with Microsoft) and today that Mac is still running strong. Casey and Mike.........what do you say when the services and treatment exceed the standards you have been accustomed to. I have only used them once because I did not know about them. Owned a software company for 20+ years and not once did I experience the service I received from them. Usually excuses and multiple reasons exude from suppliers. Not here, what they explain is what happens. A breath of fresh air in a world that long ago left doing what one said they would do,WOW!

Mike is a man of impecable integrity!I used to own a tech support (software, system optimization. and diagnostics) and tutoring business in Hawaii, so I know if someone is conning me about computers.Mike knows his stuff, and although I was willing to spend money on a friends old computer (just to browse the web etc), to have Mike replace the CPU thermal paste (complete tear down $125 + $20 fan). After his thorough diagnostics, he wouldnt let me. Being totally honest about the futility of repairs on that model of laptop and it needing an upgraded fan. He found everything bad with it that I already had (dead battery, bad hard drive sectors), but also knew more about that models substandard cooling and video chip failures etc.He never suggested buying anything from him, except when I asked. In the end he ended up not charging me a dime, despite the time he had invested with diagnostics and writting me very descriptive emails.He has earned a loyal customer, should I have a future need, that will gladly drive the 25 miles to him, because he has earned my trust.I wish I could do more, to show my appreciation, than just thanking him and leaving this review.Thank you Mike! In our industry, integrity and service like yours is rare!

Saved my ass this finals week after my dog ate my laptops charger cable. I wasnt sure if anyone would carry replacements for chromebooks since theyre so new or if I would have to order it, but they were able to find a charger that would work for my laptop and at a reasonable price! For anyone in the area, Mike at San Marcos computers is the individual to take your computer to if you are having any issues. I made the mistake of taking my computer to Geek Squad. Their incompetent employees, who are only trained in sales and lack even basic knowledge about technology, such as installing RAM, messed with my computer for a week and claimed the issue was the motherboard, which I then replaced. Turns out that that was not the defective part, so I then took my computer to Mike. In less than 24 hours, Mike figured out the issue was the power supply unit and replaced it with a part he had in his shop. The next day, I took my computer home and it still runs well now. Mike knows his stuff and is prompt and fair. I plan on going to him for any hardware installation and if I encounter any other issues. If you are reading this and are in need of help with your computer, go to Mike immediately. Do not make the mistake of going to Geek Squad.

$100 to put an OS on a 2006 iMac. Thats absurd. Will never go to San Marcos Computers again. I wish I could say that was the end of it. I gave them my MacBook Pro for repair and it was returned with no torx screws. None. This is ridiculous.
