Michelin label can be disappointing and Marina Grande is the living proof of this.I appreciate there is a supply chain issue worldwide but serving a pasta plate with barely 60g of pastas in the plate is at best a joke.If youre hungry its better not to stop by.Grilled octopus is barely hanging there on its couscous bed. Again it looks like the chef has been instructed to try homeopathy in its cooking. We left starving and staff was anything but welcoming.Dont get me wrong the tiny pieces you will eat are good... But save yourself some disappointment and avoid this place.
Very accommodating staff ensuring we had a great table with a view, even without a reservation. The food was very good, from the antipasti, through dinner, and into dessert. We enjoyed the complimentary dessert-before-dessert - a delicious little Sfogliatelle. All of the staff was very friendly and courteous. The beautiful view of the setting sun over the water and endless horizon obviously didnt hurt. All of this made the pricier menu worth it. Sometimes you just splurge a bit to take it all in.
We spent the whole day at the beach at Marina Grande. We paid eur50 to use their beach chairs & umbrellas. Freshwater shower, clean bathroom & changing fascilities are also included. We ordered food & drinks from the beach and were served with a smile. The food was delicious and we would definitely go there again. The cocktails we had was average, we rather recommend a cold beer! All & all worth the money for a very comfortable day in Amalfi.
Gave me the wrong order, said they will replace it in 5 minutes so my partner started having his dish. He finished all his food before they brought my dish about 20 minutes and it was undercooked… and when I showed them they just took the same fish and threw it back on the grill and guess what it is over cooked since it was already cut open?? And when I complained they said that that’s just what the fish tastes like and we served it to u under because it is a dryer fish but you asked it to be cooked more. They later complain they know better since I’m just some customer, but if that’s the case telling me the fish is supposed to be cooked that way and that it is safe to eat would’ve avoided this entire incident.Either way, in terms of food/service I definitely don’t think it’s worth the price, especially in Italy, go somewhere else. They offered us nothing, no apology, no discount even after i had to wait 20 minutes while watching my partner finish his food because they got my order wrong in the first place. And there was no way we would’ve been happy to pay the full price, they later took the fish off the final bill. But as a restaurant owner is it not your priority to make the customer happy?
Had a great evening here. Compared to what you get in other places in the area for the price I’d say it’s worth it. Great pasta (1. Candele, 2. Paccheri, 3. Linguini) and risotto. Dangerously drinkable limoncello-based cocktails (especially the Sfusato). Service was discrete and professional. Relaxed atmosphere with background jazz music and cozy lighting.
We stayed in Amalfi Town 3 years ago for holiday and had dinner at Marina Grande - a Michelin guide restaurant - for dinner one night, and it was so good, we came back for lunch the next day. This week for our holiday, we are staying in Positano, but decided to make a day trip to Amalfi for a few reasons - one main one being to go back to Marina Grande! The service at Marina Grande is excellent - very attentive and paced well, and the view is incredible. If you want a table with a great view, I suggest calling ahead for a reservation. The restaurant takes walk-ins when not busy, but understandably prioritizes the tables with a view for the reservations. My wife and I started with the Fried Seafood Mix, with calamari and different types of shrimp and fish. This dish is listed as a second course, but is an excellent starter. I then had the linguine with clams and seafood, which was light and airy, and my wife had the spaghetti pomodoro, which had a smooth, fresh taste. We poured it all down with a local Amalfi coast bottle of rosé, which was reasonably priced at only €24. We had an excellent experience again at Marina Grande, and look forward to returning again during our next trip to the coast!
We had a great meal in Marina Grande. The seafood was brilliant, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was intimate.
Excellent food, amazing view over the water. The clam and mussel appetizers were mind blowing.
Delicious food with an incredible view. We came for a late lunch so if you can nab a spot on their shaded patio, do it! Seafood was fresh, tasty, and beautifully plated. The service was super friendly and considering all the food (and drinks) we got, we were surprised by the price-tag! A comparable meal in the United States would have cost at least 1/3 more, so we were really happy with the experience and price. Thanks Marina Grande! We will be back!
Super friendly staff and very central location, food was yummy and beach club is probably the nicest in the area!
A beautiful restaurant on the Amalfi beach, serving exquisite plates. Polite stuff (they even hold your chair to sit), Michelin star 2019 plates, great view, quick service. The chef welcomes you with an amuse bouche (pizza bite, never tasted anything like that before). Everything is cooked when ordered, fresh ingredients, prices fair enough (salad 12€ and main course 20€) . Highly recommended.
This review is for the public beach, not the restaurant or one of the private beach services. Water was delightful, gravelly sand is very hot. Wear water shoes. Beach is a little dirty and very crowded in the afternoon.
BEST FOOD IN AMALFI!! This restaurant is amazing!! From the food to the wine to the cocktails!! This place has it all!! We went on Friday night and sat outside on the terrace, it was beautiful! We have booked to go again tonight!! All the staff are amazing!!!!! FYI if you like mussels GET THEM!!! Best i have ever tasted!!
Beautiful location with a terrace that overlooks the beach and the sea. Service is professional and prompt. Food is really good.
Marina Grande is a very nice place, great sea view and city lights are visible from everywhere. However the food was disappointing. We took two pasta dishes that was really not what you expect from Italian food, and at these high prices. The milk bread they make is delicious, and the service is great, but we wouldnt come back.
Chairs/umbrellas on the beach with service. We arrived before they opened to secure a good spot on the beach with a lunch time reservation.Great drink menu, good food, great views being in the center of Amalfi. Our server, Ivan was attentive and amazing which really helped to further our experience.
Excellent service, great food, amazing atmosphere. BRAVO
My wife and I stopped for an early dinner following a long day walking up and down Amalfi. It seemed a bit pricey by the looks of it, especially since it’s facing the beach, we decided to give it a go nonetheless as it was our last few meals in Italy. The service was second to none, we got seated by one of the best seats in the house. The guy taking the order explained the speciality. We also got given complementary amushe bouche (which was a fried pizza). We ordered an octopus starter, a seafood risotto for my wife and a seafood linguine for myself which was served in an aluminium foil shaped like a bird. The food was very very good and we enjoyed a few cocktails as well. We then realised the prices are on average a couple of Euros more than you average restaurant price and therefore it was more value for money.Definitely recommend.
Very disappointed. I was looking forward to delicious food, especially as the restaurant has a Michelin Star. However I was bitterly let down. The atmosphere feels outdated and the music cheesy. I was excited for my main course pasta with stuffed beef. However, half the food must have been left in the kitchen as the portion was embarrassingly small. Overall the restaurant was fine, but don’t go with any expectations then you might be fine.
Great staff!!! They let us in when the weather was horrible, they were so friendly and offered water and a seat, although the restaurant was not opened. Very beautiful location also! Thank you for your kindness!
It was ok, not great.
Best restaurant in Amalfi. Period.
I went to Italy in October of 2019 and had my best meal of the entire trip at this restaurant. Absolutely amazing food, cocktails, customer service, and view of the coast. It’s now May of 2020 and I still think about the pasta I had here!!
Great service, setting and atmosphere, but overpriced and the portions were quite small. The starters were amazing, we had octopus and anchovies - excellent flavours and presentation and we were excited for our main courses. However these were a little disappointing. The risotto was a bit salty and stodgy and the sea bass was petite if flavourful. It was not what we expected for what we were paying. I have had much better meals for much less all along the Amalfi coast.
Very nice restaurant and beach, with great chefs and awesome service. Here you can enjoy a great meal or cocktails in a fancy restaurant or comfortably on the tables at the beach level.Perfect spot if you are looking for very comfortable sun beds with towel and showers.
Great seafood, good service, excellent location on the beach. I would definitely go back
Delicious food in a gorgeous setting. The terrace overlooks the water and offers a nice view of the town. They gave us a small complimentary appetizer and pre-dessert as well.
Great service, reasonable prices, but more importantly the food was fantastic! I got the red snapper, wife had the spaghetti, and they would bring out other free dishes to try like pesto gelato and a fried dough appetizer. Wine is reasonable too.
Absolutely phenomenal meal, service and view! Right on the waters edge! We arrived at 7p with no reservation, they happily accommodated us at a table that they only needed returned by 8:30. We enjoyed a beautiful view and the best meal of our trip! Get the octopus and the mussels, they were outstanding! We also enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine that was recommended by our waiter. The prices were extremely reasonable considering the level of service and the exquisite details. This is a restaurant not to be missed during your trip to Amalfi!!
Great Michelin star restaurant with a nice selection of local fish and wine. Great scenery and atmosphere. Go here if you want a nice, quiet and elegant dinner in Amalfi. Walking distance from Atrani as well.
My experience was great! Great food, super great service and John was amazingly helpful we need it Euros on a Sunday so we walked me to the place to exchange😊. AMAZING SERVICE.My first good tasty food in 8 days so far. I highly recommend it. I loved the spot as we rented chairs as well for the beach, loved that I can order wine😍
This place feels like heaven on earth. People of Amalfi are great in general anyway but this place is extraordinarily friendly. The pricing is very reasonable. Def recommended.
We had wonderful meal here! The homemade bread was amazing- soft, fluffy, and warm. All our meals and the seafood were delicious. The tiramisu was served in a chocolate sphere and then they pour coffee over the top. It was rich and delicious! Would recommend eating here. A bit pricey but reasonable for being on the Amalfi Coast and seafood.
Delicious food! You can’t beat the setting either such a beautiful view. Our service was great. I thought it was reasonably priced for seafood too!
We came here and did the taster menu for our anniversary dinner. It was the most expensive dinner we had on the Amalfi coast but also the best. The staff was very friendly and clearly really cares about the restaurant and its quality. The cocktails are great. We asked for wine pairing with our menu and got a sampling of local Amalfi wines and they were all great - the wine by the glass is actually very reasonably priced! 5-6 euro for great wines.Every course was amazing. The scallops and the ricotta lobster risotto were our favorites.
Best restaurant in Amalfi! The host is very warm and caring. Great sea food and good offer of wines, with a lovely view to the sea.
While traveling the Amalfi coast we were lucky enough to discover this amazing restaurant. The service, food, staff and view were spectacular. Dont miss the opportunity if you are able to visit. The owner came to our table and told us the history of the Amalfi coast- would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Great food with a lovely seaside view!Tasty bread and appetizers. One of the best risottos Ive ever had!Desserts are pretty good, but not my favorite.
Poor service lost our order waiter nice but not enough staff. Said we had to leave and waited 15 min for bill. Food good but they do not know what Sautee means. Expect clams and mussels when it says seafood. Wine a little pricey for italy. Nice view
Fantastic food, on the water. Excellent service cant recommend highly enough
Visited on a Thursday lunchtime, restaurant wasnt too busy and we had a table at the balcony overlooking the beach. Great service from all the staff very friendly and attentive. Food presentation was excellent, the gnocchi and salmon particular highlights. Other complaints about portions - some dishes are from first & second main plates so if you order just the first plate it is not a huge portion unless you arent very hungry, or have a starter & second etc. Bread & amouse-bouche brought out anyway so you may not need a starter. Prices are higher but fair for the view, location in Amalfi, and quality of food. Would happily eat here again.
Hands down my favourite dinner in Italy, ever! The food was delicious, the wine was en pointe and the view was spectacular. Make sure you book in advance (ask for a view) and you wont be disappointed. This restaurant is on the expensive side although it is worth every euro-cent.
This restaurant is fabulous! The food is great, great wines, amazing ocean/beach view. The staff were very professional and friendly. The owner spent time with us at our table and we enjoyed our chat. Highly recommend this place for an unforgetable meal!
Great meal and wonderful service. Great wine selection with super tuscans with phenomenal red prawns and pasta. Michelin star bound.
This place is cut above the pack.Great Contemporary Italian food different pasta/sauces, enthusiastic waiting staff, brilliant setting, on the beach. If you are thinking of coming to Amalfi this place is the clincher. We are only here one more day but we are coming back tomorrow
We came for dinner. The setting is lovely. Our starters were really good (we had the lobster and red prawns) but the classic fish pasta dishes we had for mains were disappointing - weve had better food elsewhere in Amalfi. Perhaps the other options are better. The chocolate fondant for dessert was also decent but nothing special. The service was good though and the prosecco was delicious. Worth a visit but to us it seemed a bit hit and miss.
Here with the Fam! Amazing! Always a must visit when in Italy!
Really delicious fish, ambiance and staff. Amberjack fillet and prawn and lemon risotto were particular standout dishes.
Wonderful atmosphere, feels more personal in the old harbour. A lovely mix of restaurants.
Every course was absolutely delicious...wow! Superb service and helpful attentive staff. Lovely water views.
Great food and great service. Recommended. The restaurant serves mostly fish and seafood based dishes
Beautiful place to sit on the beach (25€ for a seat), but the drinks were surprisingly reasonable for the location and quality. Great place to relax
Perfect dinner, the food is extremely good.
Oysters Sorbet... Where else can you eat it?... In cashback world!
Just exceptional! A michelin starred restaurant for good reason, they just got everything right: home made bread and pasta, the right balance of flavours, beautiful plates and presentation, a book of world wines and exceptional service- all with an amazing view of the sea and lights of Amalfi. We tried the salted cod which was delicious, the amaranth popcorn scallops with an interesting balance of flavours and textures, followed by homemade veal agnelotti and scampi ravioli. We also ordered the local wine which was recommended to complement our dishes which was perfection. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere, stunning food and friendly service
Best food I have had this year. Decent wine and really nice staff. Pricey, but you have to pay for quality.
Marina grande is a unique experience on or near the amalfi coast. THEY sell this unique experience
Scallops with some sand... but otherwise, nice food, I especially liked the local baked fish of the day. Good selection of wines
Pretty good food and great view and atmosphere. I’d go back
Excellent service, vibe and view... the food was unfortunately mediocre at best, and overpriced- understandable given it’s location.
Best food in Amalfi, more on the expensive side but you can come out of there with a normal bill if you dont go crazy.Great food grest people we loved it...amazing!
Dessert were delicious. Mouth watering!
Amazing...good music and good food. Plus a beach you can swim in
Beautiful restaurant and location. Spent a long while speaking with the owner, Gianpaolo, whose family had long owned this restaurant. Fantastic cocktails, great tasting menu, and excellent service.
Sea food was unbelievably good. Make sure you make reservation. The best restaurant we have visited on Amalfi coast
World class service and quality of food. In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants across the whole of the Amalfi Coast.
Saw sooooo many great reviews and decided to try !! The food was ok (Ive had better food for lesser price in Italy). My most fav item was the Bellini (€8) !! We paid €90 for 2 drinks, 2 starters, 2 main course & 1 dessert.
Surprised to find a place like this at the beach of Amalfi! Listed in the Michelin Guide, and the food/presentation accordingly! Reasonably priced!
