EXCELLENT. Everything was delicious, service was super fast, and the hash browns are just the best things I’ve ever tasted. Plus the breakfast special prices are amazing! Also coffee is excellent and the ambiance is wonderful. Eating outside looked cute too, but indoor dining was just so pleasant.
This place is like revisiting my childhood, when my Mom took us kids out to eat. The dining area is a throwback to the 70’s — and I could swear I’ve seen this place in a movie (just can’t recall which one). The available entrees include classic American, some Asian, & some Hispanic dishes. The prices are not too high — but I suggest trying the specials (if your watching your dollars). Hope you like this place as much as I did. I wanted to give more stars, but the waitress was not very friendly. Maybe she was having a bad day — but try smiling and conversing with your patrons. You might’ve gotten a bigger tip.
I used to love this place. Id come here for biscuits and gravy. The last time I was here, the sauce was sour and the biscuits were hard and I sent it back. No big deal. It happens. I went today and it was exactly the same. I didnt bother sending it back again but I wont be back.
Its literally like taking a step back in time. I dont live near here any more so I have to go out of my way to come here. Same friendly staff that has been working here for years and good, down home, old school food. Its currently up for sale and the owners only wish to sell it if the buyer agrees to keep things as they are and keep the current staff in place. I think that is terrific! If I won the lottery, I would seriously consider buying it. Only thing I would change would be to restore the original front doors.
This is a darling 50s Era restaurant just minutes from the Huntington. Great service & the food was great.
The owners and the waiters were incredibly friendly towards me. I really enjoyed the lovely selections of breakfast items, and once it restarted to serve indoors, I was lucky enough to sit at the table where Don Draper used to dine with a beautiful young lady in Mad Men. The entire experience at the Colonial Kitchen Restaurant was like an exciting trip back to the 1950s and 60s: vintage, nostalgic and elegant. I absolutely love this hidden gem in San Marino. :)
Staff was super friendly! We had a large group and couple of kids. staff was very patient with all of us and arranged a couple of tables for our group of 8.
Great family owned place to go for breakfast food. One of their servers makes tomatillo salsa that is amazing on the hash browns (or whatever else you put it on). Portions are large too so its well worth the money. Try the Belgian Waffle or Eggs Benedict!
Colonial Kitchen Restaurant is a diner that serves good breakfast located in the middle of San Marino district. Its indoor atmosphere is very welcoming, like youre at home. As you enter the restaurant, its foyer is decorated with glass cabinets housing figurines and Elvis Presley commemorative plates; like stepping into an eccentrics personal memorabilia collection. I came here for breakfast on an early Sunday morning and ordered their pancake combo (3 stacks pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 sausage links) and coffee. I am selective in taste when it comes to pancakes. CKs buttermilk pancakes are soft, fluffy and light in texture. Similarly, their coffee, sausage and eggs taste good. Indoor seating is well organized, neat, clean and well lit. Moreover, the counter bar leather green seats are very comfortable and evenly spacious. Service was moderately fast. Staff were very attentive, friendly, nice and professional. Prices are relatively $$ affordable. Parking space is of midsize. Overall, I had a good experience and highly recommend Colonial Kitchen for breakfast.
Amazing service from the time we came in. It was our first time there and server was extremely helpful in helping us order, we decided to go with her advise and got the Titan breakfast which was plenty of food for two to share. Service was amazing and very fast but quality of food didn’t disappoint. We will definitely be back to try something new or share the Titan again.

I woke up on the day of my postponed gastric resection surgery and I wanted to experience a morning ritual of mine.... one more time or however many times I could. I opted for cream of wheat with sourdough toast buttered and black berry preserve. This morning meal was delicious!

Strong hot coffee (only regular creamer so if you like flavored cafe creamer this place has none.. but my coffee was yummy and a highlight to my meal). Everyone on the staff was attentive & polite, there are limited seats but they were good about cleaning right after someone got up so the wait wasnt terrible.

I had the spicy Louisiana sausage omelet with hashbrown and my husband had the Titan big breakfast. The food was excellent. We both were very pleased with the service and food. I would definitely come again.

Doesnt look like much from the outside, but did have some outdoor seating. Wait staff were very nice and attentive. Food was excellent. Guacamole was fresh and the beef sirloin taco was the best.Beef enchiladas were tasty and the green sauce gave it just the right amount of kick.
We walked in and the first thing I thought was this place needs a face lift. We get seated right away and get our beverages and order taken right away. The food didnt take long to get to us but one order that was pancakes, eggs and bacon lacked the bacon. I had to ask the server for the bacon and we also did not get an order of toast we had ordered. The other order said it was supposed to come with chilled OJ but the server just decided to not charge the one we had. She should have asked if thats what we wanted. Then I wanted sugar free syrup and a soda refill and had to wait a long time for any of the four server/busboys to get that taken care of. The waitress only came by when we where practically done. I have worked at a restaurant and you should go back once everything is served to make sure everything is ok and if anything else is needed. I guess not here. The food was ok but not good enough for us to want to go back and risk bad service. Bad first experience and will be our last time there.

That is a true review from my experience at Colonial Kitchen Restaurant, I think it would be a perfect opportunity for little kids to enjoy some good food as well as elders.
This place is as bland as the people who eat here. I’m sorry but salt is needed for flavor. If the best item on the menu is spaghetti then you should just give up on chicken all together.

When Im traveling for work I like to find little out-of-the-way places for breakfast. This was a nice little diner. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was authentic-retro. I had the fresh squeezed orange juice (I saw the process) and the pancake breakfast, which hit the spot and my price point.Thank you!

Its always nice and quiet here. Ive only ever been for lunch and it is apparently quite crowded for breakfast. I love the food here. Particularly the Landmark sandwich is indeed very satisfying. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is pleasant. Good service here.

An institution of San Marino. The decor is very dated and borderline tacky but the breakfast is good and portions generous. Dinner beckons to the 1950s and when nostalgia hits I head here for a fix of good old fashioned Americana.
They allowed me to bring my dog, placed a little table outside for us to enjoy the air, and served an amazing breakfast. I enjoyed the wait staff and even the customers were very friendly to us. dont be a stranger. This place will make you feel like home!

An older restaurant. Parking is ample. The facility is very clean. A variety of foods on menu. The foods we chose were tasty. Definitely a neighborhood place.
My parents favorite local spot to eat out. I go meet them there on occasion and food is very good, staff is extremely friendly( makes you feel like family). Owners are very nice and always smiling! Cant think of a better spot to enjoy a good meal!

I love this place. I moved away from the area. But, when I have a chance I make sure to stop in for a great breakfast. Rosa, it the best she always know my order no matter how long its been. She treats everyone special when they walk in the door. Your cup of coffee you will never see the bottom of the cup until you ready to go. I always feel like it has that home feel when I stop in. The customer service here is the best Ive ever seen. We come here are approximately once a year for a family gathering and the crew is always expert and the food is always above expectation. We love to come here we brag about it all over Fresno California. Come here if you have the chance! :-)

I usually like this place but we ordered nachos and there was little to no cheese on, two wimpy pieces of lettuce, and an excessive amount of grease. We couldnt eat them.
Great chicken fried steak and eggs with potatoes OBrien no biscuit tho she said they ran out good gravy though had to get an English muffin I really wanted a biscuit with my gravy it must be good.
Best place hands down, my go to. Some may say its too pricey, but I say its not especially since you get what you pay for.

This place looked really out of place when I first saw it. I went one day and the eggs were high quality, the bacon was delectable. The workers always try their best. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesnt want to go to IHOPto have a crying baby scream in your ear.
I don’t know how this place hasn’t been shut down yet nor how it has so many high ratings! Whenever I pass this place my stomach churns. We had a group dinner there with visitors from China. The server/owner (?) could only offer a limited number of people certain soups because she didn’t have enough cans of each for us to order what we wanted. But the reason why I will never step foot in this place again is that at the end of the meal as we were getting ready to leave a rat 🐀 ran out of the kitchen and jumped onto the table. We literally ran out!
Brilliant. Ive been going here every year at least once, and I cannot believe how nothing has changed. The food is still great, the owners are kind, and the service is top notch. Eat breakfast here on weekdays if you want a special deal :D

Food is fairly good. a bit pricey. service has always been very slow but surprisingly not annoying. free wifi is a big plus. place has been around a long time and still charming. mostly older people go. very quiet and quaint. I paid 23 for cinnamon french toast with egg sausage and bacon and a coke. portions are a decent size but not worth 23. I did not mind the 23 due to the quietness and overall experiance of this place. even the customers where easy going.
