Super friendly staff! I failed to get the name of the fabulous girl behind the counter, but she was so bubbly and enthusiastic - she knew I was there doing a Lost Boys tour and was very welcoming. I also got to meet Joe, who was also very warm and friendly. I highly encourage everyone to visit this great shop and meet the awesome people who work there!

Good selection of graphic novels for a couple of graphic novel noobs like me and my daughters. Plus, they collaborate with the public library reading program so we got a few freebies for the girls. Excited to check out Sisters by Raina Telgemeier, which was recommended by the owner and looks very entertaining.

The staff (two young girls who were working) were super friendly and helpful, also fun to chat with. They started by showing me some figurines for a project I was working on and even after I decided it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for they were still super nice and friendly. The shop was clean, organized and bright and the window displays were adorable, when I was leaving I saw the Disney section on display and almost went back inside!

Really nice Comic book shop +. Extremely clean and well organized. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Another big plus is this is where the comic book store scenes were filmed for The Lost Boys and they have the comic from the movie.

Ive been coming here since I was 8 years old. The books here taught me how to read as a little boy. Ill be bringing my own kids here someday. Joe, the owner, is a kind guy who loves his customers and is a pillar of the community.

A friend recommended Atlantis Fantasyworld since Im new to comic shops in the Santa Cruz area. I walked in and immediately was greeted by the staff. While looking at the single issues, the manager, Joe, just started talking to me about what Im looking for and we had a pleasant chat.Everyone that works there is professional, nice and completely unjudging.Ive been to many comic shops where if you ask for a Batman, the neckbeard behind the counter groans and judges you for liking something not weird and obscure.I never had that problem at Atlantis.They gave good recommendations based on what I liked. I left buying a lot more than I intended but thats a good thing. It was my choice and they ended up being some of my favorite reads.I even had such a great experience there that I have brought my girlfriend in there and now we have a monthly pull list set up.We both look forward to stopping by the shop, picking up comics that were put aside for us, and perusing the rest of the store.Its nice to see an old, local business doing what they love, their own way.If you are new to comics, or a veteran comic reader, Atlantis is the place for you.If I could give them 6/5 stars I would but I dont think Google would appreciate it.

Great place! I like how theyre taking very good precautions against COVID-19, requiring everyone who comes in use the hand sanitizer there, and even carefully wiping off books & credit cards behind the counter before handling them. As for books, they have a very diverse selection of superhero, adventure, and other comics from both big-name publishers (DC, Marvel, etc.) and more independent stuff. Proud to call this my regular comic book store, even in the midst of the pandemic.

Atlantis Fantasyworld is the place to get the perfect gift. They help us get what were looking for, and offer to order it if they dont have it..Also, theyre knowledgeable about their merchandise. I highly recommend this for those looking for all kinds of comics, figurines, and games. Great for the regular collectors or the perfect gift.

This is a great store with wonderful staff and a very nice owner. It is a rare find especially in Santa Cruz. You can find a large comic book selection as well as memorabilia and collectors items. My kids enjoy this store as well as myself.

Best comic book and collectables store in Cali!

Excellent comic store. I miss the events that used to happen pre-COVID19, but the store is still around.

I was in town while on vacation, but didnt want to miss a new title I knew would sell quick. Another store had already sold out. Atlantis Fantasyworld not only had that particular issue, but I was able to pick up some alternate cover editions of other copies I was looking for. The store is bright and clean and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Next time in town, Ill have to stop by and say hi.

This is a fun little comic shop. The staff was very nice, wide selection, and everything was in good shape.

This is a top-notch establishment! The owner, Joe, has been in business for about 40 years in the comic industry. He has great engagement with the customers, and his store is laid out with a very easy to navigate and open feeling. His passion shows with the enthusiasm he projects in his conversations with people. His reputation is well earned. During my time there, it was apparent that some longtime loyal customers had returned, some after 10 years of not being able to visit the store because of moving out of the country -- just to say hi. This is how a place should be remembered... because you want to!

Sometimes comic book stores can be a bit intimidating if you dont already read comics, theres a lot of history and stories and really passionate fans. Nate, Trish, and Elena are passionate without a drop of intimidation. When you walk in, youll notice (besides all the comics) lots of posters, toys, and something fun and/or fantastical playing on the TV. They know their stuff and clearly like sharing their passions, but can easily wax on about other topics too. Theyll do their best to find what youre looking for, give personalized recommendations, and let you explore on your own all you want.

Great staff and full selection of comics, games, magazines and accessories

Great store to find and discuss comics. The staff is extremely friendly and seem to love getting to know their customers. I was looking for a specific issue, but sadly they had sold out. The owner and one of the employees helped suggest several other stores around the area that would be good alternatives, since I wasnt just in the area for the weekend. We ended up talking a little longer about comics and life in general. If youre interested in finding the latest issues or something a little older, or if you feel like learning about and discussing comics, Id highly suggest stopping in for a visit.

The best comic store, a beloved Santa Cruz institution for decades, to the point of being featured in the movie Lost Boys. Tons of comics and related items of all kinds, lots of special events with comic artists and writers, active in community programs, friendly and welcoming to all, and at least half the employees are women.

The crew here really knows they’re stuff! They’re not just selling comics, they’re deeply involved in geek culture and have extensive knowledge of arcane and modern comic and geek culture. Plus, they’re all extremely friendly!

Guy running the place will be automatically rude to anyone who accidentally forgets to use the hand sanitizer. You better watch out for Grandpa.

Absolutely lovely people and a smallish but good selection of comics and graphic novels. Also, if youre going in because youre on The Lost Boys fan trail, go talk to them. They have a prop from the film you can have a photo with, a scrapbook of stuff with the history of the shop and a big stock if the graphic novel of the film.

This shop has been my go to place for comics for over a decade now. They are great at special orders and are always warm and friendly. Its nice to walk into the shop, be greeted by name, and be handed the next volume of what ever run youre currently reading without asking!Not only is the shop a great place to visit, but the owner does a lot to stay connected with the community and networks with local businesses. He performs at The Crows Nest, holds raffles with the movie stubs from the local Cinema 9, and invites special guests like artists, animators, and actors in for meet and greets and signings.Despite spending a small fortune here over the years and writing this review, I wish there was more I could do to show the staff how grateful I am to have them nearby!

Had a few bad experiences with this comic shop, Customer service varies depending on whos helping. Ask when the next comic comes out for a series I started collecting and the guy said in a month, I asked more specific when and he replied 4 weeks... I know what a month is but an actual day would have been more helpful than being a smart ass. Sent in my partner to get the newest release, they gave her last months saying it was the newest to come out, it wasnt. Thats why Im no longer buying from them, and found a friendlier nicer shop not far from them.

Helpful staff and great selection of trades. The 2 ladies in the counter when i was there was very accomodating and friendly, very knowledgable about new and old books. Definitely coming back for my comic book collecting.

I have been going here for many years. I have an enjoyable experience here every time i come into town.

I have been a customer at this store for several years. I became a consistent customer due to the magnificent service Joe gave me several years back when it came to purchasing something from his store. He isnt the only magnificent person at that store that provides great service.All of the staff that have helped me out in general have been friendly and efficient. I think I had made a mistake myself in a subscription I might have not made, I am not entirely sure, but they fixed that issue and created one, a subscription, while getting me the comic on time. They were supposed to be sold out of that issue at the time or they were nearly out of stock and found a copy either way it was great. They make sure to keep me up to date on series I may be interested in getting a subscription to, and call me up when I have subscriptions waiting. They also actually remember who I am, which I greatly appreciate. It keeps me from having to ask them every time for my subscription. They will have my subscription ready and waiting by the time I am done browsing their store, if I have one, or get it ready for me ASAP if that is all I am here for. Even when they are busy they acknowledge me and let me know I have a subscription in, if I have one.They have an interesting collection of comics and various other things in general, and will order stuff for you if theyre able. I am not much of a figure person anymore, but they have some interesting ones in their second room. They tried to sell manga for a while, but they stopped for the most part likely due to a lack of buyers. They are also willing to make some recommendations for you if they know your tastes or just blanket what they are into at the time if that is what you prefer, although of course you have to ask for that. While I do admit that last part isnt a big deal it does allow some variation in tastes whether it ends up being something you enjoy or not. It also shows theyre not just there as someone to check you out, but will engage with you as a person and give proper customer service/interaction.They also price things fairly and dont try to mark up prices, at least from what I have noticed. I understand this shouldnt be something that needs to be noted, but I have had experiences with other comic shops that did take advantage of people in this particular manner.I cant think of a single time I have had a bad experience in this comic shop. I have been coming here steadily for at least 4 years minimum in my adult life and I was an infrequent customer for them back in the 90s, so never having a bad experience with them in that amount of time is noteworthy from my perspective.The customer service and friendly atmosphere of Atlantis Fantasyworld in general is why I rate this store so highly. I noted just a few of the most highlight worthy experiences I had with them.

My father Lauro Lopez shoped at Atlantis comics before I was born. And when I was born he took me there and I loved it, it was so fun. One year they had a Halloween costume party and my dad took me there I was dressed as a power ranger. The owner is why the store means so much to me the owner Joe is the nicest and most happiest man Ive ever known. Im 16 now and That place in Santa Cruz is one of my most favorite places on earth. This summer I went back to Santa Cruz for a week. And the first thing I did when I got there was went to go visit Joe and I cant believe he remembered me. I didnt think he would, he asked me what grade I was in, and what I wanted to do. I told him I was a freshman, and wanted to be a nuclear engineer in the U.S Navy. All I have left to say is its one of the best places in Santa Cruz and you should go to it and meet Joe hes a good man.

The staff is friendly, if they dont have what you want, they can order it for you.
