Great and helpful staff....best ever experiences keep on keeping on!
Somewhat hard to find. Got what I wanted, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Will go back for future instructions.
I had a wonderful experience. I bought a camera seven months ago, one recommended by Peter, who was kind enough to take the time to show me how to use the camera’s features and outfit me with proper accessories as needed and desired for upcoming travels, as well as for home use. I have been very happy with the camera and was extremely pleased with the whole experience. I called just a few minutes ago with a traveling question which was politely responded to by the woman who answered the phone. I have no reason not to recommend the Camera Shop, and every reason to recommend this business.
Great service, expert technical advice. Friendly!
This place is great if youre an avid film photographer but also not really in that case. The main thing that makes this a three star review is that profit comes before the actual creativity. The polaroid film for instance can be found for ten dollars less online from the main supplier including shipping which is pretty steep when youre talking about 8 frames at 30 dollars a pop. If you wanna by all means walk into a camera store and spend in the hundreds on things that arent cameras like bags and even straps then go ahead but for a budget photographer its not that great. The reason I wanna leave a three star review is because of the hospitality that comes with this place and its spotty at times but when its there its actually pretty welcoming. The 35mm stocks of film are great if youre looking for that kind of thing.
We were driving thru Santa Fe and my husband had an idea to get a polarized lens for my camera. I searched Camera shops, I called and got a voicemail. I figured ok they were busy or closed since it was on a Saturday and July 4th. We looked at a Best Buy as an alternative. I got a call back saying I can meet you there. We needed up buying two different lenses and a lense strap. Yes it was more expensive then Best Buy, but being an amateur photographer, I received a lot of knowledge that I wouldNot have gotten at Best Buy. And yes they were more expensive but I would rather give my money, especially during these times, to a local store. Thank you again!!
I have bought many things from here. Love them! Always helpful and friendly. Support our local merchants!!
One word describes my experience with this store, Knowledgeable. I needed a simple point and shoot for a vacation I was going to be going on; I originally went to BestBuy and they had no clue about how the camera should work. I decided to look around and found the Camera Shop of Santa Fe, they spent OVER AN HOUR explaining the camera to me. To make a long story short, my vacation turned out amazing and my pictures were amazing! I would have never been able to take half these photos without their help! Wow! 5 STARS!
Rented a camera from here, took pictures for a day, and film was developed and ready for me to pick up later that afternoon. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of all types of cameras, and the photo taking hot spots. Overall, a wonderful experience and the store was stocked with the latest in camera supplies. I have suggested to friends and would suggest to everyone...
The staff here is amazing. Totally went out of their way to help us today. They even lent my son a camera to do his photography assignment since his camera broke. A gem of a place that goes out of their way to help. Thank you 😊!
Nice selection of Think Tank bags. Small selection of used equipment. Film! Worth a visit if youre a photographer, particularly film.
My Nikon broke while I was visiting so I stopped into this camera shop wary of the other reviews that referenced high prices. I didn’t see any thing that was outrageously expensive or a great deal higher than any place else. The staff was nice but they were very busy so didn’t get much time to talk.
I am a huge fan of mom and pop camera shops and lament the fact that there are so few of them left. Therefore, it not easy for me to give this shop less than a five-star rating. However, I feel I must do so for two reasons. First of all, their prices are outrageous and border on gouging. I bought two rolls of 120 black and white film and was shocked to find out they charged me 20 dollars, which is essentially double internet pricing. I realize their rent must not be cheap and that they are taking advantage of the Santa Fe tourist trade. This still does not justify such ridiculously high prices. Secondly, the woman who waited on me was not very knowledgeable. I had to point out to her where the 120 film was (not a hot item today, I know, but still...). Moreover, she gave me misinformation about their sole competitor being out of business. I feel my three-star rating of this shop is generous, since I do not want to see the old fashioned camera shops go out of business. Nonetheless, unless I have totally run out of film or need an emergency accessory, I will do my photo shopping elsewhere.
Best place to get your Nikon D850! I first tried ordering from a large NY store and the camera was on backorder for weeks. The NY store could never tell me when the camera would arrive. I called around and Peter at Santa Fe Camera thought he could get one in a couple of weeks. I ordered it and Peter and his staff did a terrific job of keeping me informed of when the camera would arrive. They shipped it two-day air and it arrived in time for my birthday. Couldnt me more pleased!
I was photographing wedding sunsets and needed to rent a lens. They were so helpful, giving me suggestions on how to use it and making the rental process easy. They even threw in a conversion piece for my polarizing filter. Great place, very friendly, and very convenient hours!
Very nice workers! Explained a lot about my sons camera and even cleaned his lense real good! Of course we bought from them! Prices comparable to others!!
Horrible customer service, I ask about weight of tripods keeps giving me price. What kind of Mickey mouse operation is this? WHEN A CUSTOMER ASKS WEIGHT. That is the determinant factor. Dont keep telling me price, then when I ask how much weight it holds get put on hold for 10 mins.Useless people. Know your products or shut your doors. This is not acceptable in the age of the internet. Want to know why retail is failing? This is a example, anything needed that is just slightly complicated and they fold. This is not how cameras work, they should know better.
DO NOT BUY from this store unless you want to pay double the regular price for an item. Their markups over chain stores and Amazon are enormous, for no reason at all other than their having uninformed customers. This shop helps people who dont understand their camera or need to buy an obsolete film camera for a photography class. Mike is a friendly, patient man and has a cute cat keeping an eye on the premises, but the store is a fossil.
They provide absolutely the best camera gear in town and with the biggest smiles! Also, I had my camera sensor cleaned there for the lowest price in town, $35. Then the owner of the shop showed me how to clean my own sensor and I have never needed to pay someone else to so it since then. Thank you so much Peter!
Great store with excellent brands at normal prices. Not understanding what these other reviews are referring to.
These people sold me a defective tripod SLIK PRO 450 DX Tripod. The woman who sold me the tripod clearly didnt know how tripods work.I had to explain to her that the camera needs to sit on something and prompt her to go find the quick release plate for the tripod. I never thought that there would be more pieces missing like one of of the rotational arms.Bottom line: This place sells a lot of expensive equipment and does not care or know how it operates. Fortunately, I purchased this $180.00 piece of junk with my Amex Card. So I will get my money back. I will never shop at this place again.
My experience was great. I found a camera backpack at a very competitive price just do your homework a lil of research doesn’t hurt. The only thing i wish they carry sony gear... and i kinda laught about the lady’s review about the postcard, seriously! When did she visit the store ? in the 1800s ?
Pretty bad service. The decorum of the employees was okay, but other than that, very shoddy business. I needed a Canon L lens repaired, so I dropped it off at the camera shop, thinking that they would be as professional as they could be about it. After 4 weeks, they told me they were unsuccessful in finding someone to repair it. After I got the lens back, I did a quick google search of businesses who repair lenses. I called the first and second results of my search. Both said it would be easy to repair my lens. Its a shame I wasted this much time with the Camera shop--I recommend you dont do the same.
Great little store. Love the knowledge and service of the people working here.
My wife and I went there to get our passport photos. I was afraid it might be a tourist trap but we were downtown anyway so we stopped there. Really nice people. Helpful and reasonably priced.
Nice guy. Gave me a free camera cleaning when I bought a protective lens cover. Good service.
I met up here with someone who had a camera for sale on craigslist. The owner was more than happy to check out the camera for my benefit and he did it for free. On top of that, he gave me a big discount on several starter accessories, cleaned the camera sensor, and spent at least half an hour after the shop should have closed showing me the basics of my new camera. I have gone back there multiple times and the experience has been just as positive.
I just got off the phone with someone at this place. I asked a simple question. Do you have a Canon FD to EOS mount? She seemed angered by the question, cut me off and replied We only sell Canon lenses. Obviously I wasnt inquiring about a lens. If she would have actually listened to what I said, she would know Im simply looking for an adapter between canon lens models to fit my 5d. She was snark, constantly interrupted me and was all around rude. On top of that she had no idea what I was talking about. How do you hire people who have dont even know what a simple lens adapter is. Is this how you people treat potential customers? I was going to travel all the way to Santa Fe just to check this store out. Now Ill give Camera & Darkroom in ABQ all of my business along with Amazon. Terrible first and last impression.
The staff helped me get a start with my first film camera, and they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable!
Love this shop our go to for any camera, accessories or printing needs. Friendly, wonderful customer service!
I come here to develop my 120 film. Always done in under an hour, Peter does a great job!
Great stuff & Amazing Staff! Super Cool Case full of cameras from history.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Cleaned and fixed up my camera. I recommend.
The Lady was annoyed that we came into the store. And when I pointed out that she charged us 70 cents for a 40 cent post card she said that it was in the wrong rack. If they will rip you off 30 cents, I cant imagine what they will do on big purchases.
Watch the prices of their merchandise, I was seriously overcharged on a Manfrotto tripod head, like $100.00 over. Partly my fault for being in a hurry & theirs for not refunding the overcharge!
They have fantastic film developing services.
Great assistance when my camera malfunctioned while on vacation
Fantastic prints and friendly staff!
Overpriced and the service I received was far from helpful.
Good service but overpriced
I asked them to develop my films. The services were okay. The price was not cheap.I asked for the development of the film. Although the service is reasonable and the price is not so cheap, it is convenient to develop on-site to prevent exposure when shooting with film overseas.
