We are blessed to have Daniel who works at Dot Foil in Santa Fe. My phone was disabled. Went to Verizon who, of course, sent me to Best Buy. Best But tried and after a few hours was sending me to the Albuquerque Apple store. I happened to remember Dot Foil in Santa Fe. Daniel sat down with me and saved me the journey to Albuquerque. Daniel is my hero!!! This will always be my first stop . Verizon workers want their paycheck and that is all. Geek squad at Best Buy were not as knowledgeable as Daniel.
Brought my iPhone in because I couldnt get the Sim Card out. The technician managed to get it out, cleaned the port, reinserted and sent me away without charging me! I will definitely go back for more consequential issues. (Plus, they have some great deals on refurbished computers that were on display).
Terrible Repair ServiceIn the past Dotfoil was extremely helpful and competent. Unfortunately my recent experience was a disaster. The internal hard disk on my imac failed and I brought it in for a replacement. The tech wasnt paying attention when I told him on the phone that it was a 3 TB SATA with over 1 TB in use. He refused to replace it with another SATA drive (which are readily available and Dotfoil even sells external SATA drives at the front desk) and insisted on replacing it with an SSD drive. He then discovered what I had told him that a 1 TB drive was too small. A 2TB drive had to be ordered and took a week from when I brought my computer in to arrive. When I picked up the computer with the new drive installed and took it home it wouldnt boot. I immediately called and no one returned my call until the next day. I finally booted the computer in repair mode and ran the disk utility which made it bootable. I then discovered that the OS hadnt been updated as requested. I spent $600+, waited 8 days, then spent hours of my own time to get it to boot when simply installing a SATA disk in the first place would have cost far less and taken only a day. Just so readers will realize Im credible, I have 40+ years of teaching every aspect of computer hardware and software, headed a CS dept in a major university and worked directly with Apple computers for many years.
Fantastic service from Mikal, polite and courteous. He saved my data, at a very reasonable price, and did not try to upsell me. Also was excellent at communicating the process, even emailing screenshots. Highly recommended. (I have used them before, and was always satisfied.)
On January 5th, 2021 I went to Dot Foil Computers in Santa Fe, NM. Because of the pandemic, all business had to be conducted on the sidewalk. I needed a new battery for my IPhone 6s. While all customers were waiting outside (with our coats on), Daniel O., the technician (who didnt even have time to get his coat) was going back and forth, helping all of us in turn. He was pleasant, courteous, professional and PATIENT (a lesson we all must learn). He deserves a raise and a bonus for the incredibly wonderful way he handled all of us. Customer service like this is often rare these days (Im quite old and remember what customer service used to be and Daniel exhibited this). I have done business with Dot Foil from time to time over the years (my current computer was purchased there) and I have always been treated well. However, Daniels performance went way above and beyond! So much appreciated.
If you want to be ripped off this is the place. They charged me $166 for labor just to install a new battery on my MacBook (the overall cost including the cost of the battery was $375). You would expect great service for this money but they did not even bother to call me back when the laptop was ready even though they promised to. I had to call them myself at the end of the day. I needed the laptop for work urgently and it sat there for 3 hours after their 5 minutes of work.P.S. My friends told me that they got their battery replaced for no service fee at Synergy Tech next door.
I really feel like Dotfoil computer technician went out of his way to help me with my laptop. He has been very kind and he made sure that I was satisfied with the performance of my laptop, given that the laptop is 10 years old.
I would never recommend this business for anything. I walked in my cell phone for a screen replacement at 9:00am and was told to leave it for 4 hours as is their statement to be completed in that time period.. I did so and left my landline number to be contacted when repair was complete. Four hours later I called them and left messages as I had not heard from them. I received no call. I then went to the shop in person and was told the tech had not yet looked at it and would do so after finishing another job and she had no idea as to when it would be complete!I then, picked up my phone and requested a refund. No apology, No explanation. Poor customer service, poorly run.
Amazing Job and service! Had an issue with my Mac and Michael was quick to solve the problem. During covid-19 when I really rely on my computer I didnt think it was going to get resolved but with the Knowledge and the hospitable staff (Crystal) I felt like my computer was in the right hands. I bought a battery for my late 2011 MacBook pro here. I was happy they had it in stock and I didnt have to wait to have it shipped. It came with all the tools I needed to install it myself. As a bonus it also came with a keyboard cover for my MacBook pro! Great place and great staff. Tony was a pleasure to work with.
Today is my second amazing experience with the Dotfoil staff. I walk into their store and my problem is immediately addressed. I have issues with my MacBook Air and although I am a business owner and licensed teacher in New Mexico, I still remain in the dark as to how to solve even the most basic computer issues. I have gone to another business that employs a special department for customer issues like mine (usually) rather simple issues. The wait for attention is long and tedious. I appreciate the small business atmosphere that is at Dotfoil; just like the olden golden times when automated messages were not the customary means by which to deal with customer interaction. Also, I like that Dotfoil can work with my windows problems as well as my MacBook issues.

Ive taken my old Dell to Dotfoil since I bought it in 2007. I credit Dotfoil for helping keep it running smoothly for almost ten years. Always had good, prompt, friendly service at reasonable cost. Good parts when needed, which has been rarely, and no parts when not needed, which has been most of the time, and much appreciated from a business that makes a chunk of income from parts. Highly recommended!
My wife was visiting Santa Fe for a week, and happened to have the computer power supply but not that power cord (known as type C5) that runs from the wall outlet to the power supply. I called Dotfoil, was connected to Mike in their service department. They did not have such power cord for sale, but Mike looked around and found one laying around in his service department. He gave it to my wife for free. Thank you, Mike and Dotfoil.
Very happy with the service all the way from start to finish. All my questions were answered so I could understand what was going on with my computer. Unfortunately I need to get a new one, but if I ever have any problems with another computer I will make sure I head over to them again!!
Excellent resource for both business and personal Mac and PC users. I brought my MacBook Pro in recently with what turned out to be a micro-cracked screen. They were very clear and professional, and advised me it probably would be 3-4 business days until a technician could check it out and follow up with me about whether the warranty would cover it. In two business days, he called to tell me it was already fixed, covered and ready to pick up. Very graceful and positive experience.

Whenever I have a computer problem or question, I go to Dotfoil. I have always received terrific customer service there, and I never been disappointed. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I am not a techie, so having a someone take the time to clearly and patiently explain the computer issue is very important to me.I had been experiencing a problem with my Mac mini for a few months. I called Apple tech support a number of times, but the snafu continued. Once I took the machine into Dotfoil, Tyson gave it a complete check-up and resolved the issue in one day. He also took the time to answer my other computer-related questions.I give Dotfoil five stars because the rating system does not allow six stars!

He figured out what was wrong with my 6 year old Pro (ancient hard drive which decided to die and move on to computer Heaven which left me in Hell...)But when it came time to salvage whatever data could be salvaged, and then move old files into my nifty, new MacBook Pro, Tyson heroically saved the day! The critical files were successfully transferred.Then Tyson took the time to show me some good tricks, update my passwords, and made me laugh.Thanks Tyson for your vast knowledge and good humor.Also, many thanks to Tony for patiently answering every question I had, and for letting me play with all the cool computers on display. He was sensitive to cost and pricing issues, never hurrying me, and never pressing to make a sale.Crystal at the front desk, was friendly and professional too.I will definitely use them again, and confidently recommend them. I still hate being without a computer for even a day or two, but thats really more my problem than theirs.

After banging my head against an unintentional Windows 10 upgrade that disabled my graphics driver, I emailed Dotfoil and received a response almost immediately. After some additional attempts at troubleshooting the problem myself based on recommendations provided by Dotfoil, I brought my laptop in to the store for help solving my driver problem and Dotfoil turned it around in 24 hours. Problem solved. I am very happy with the service Dotfoil provided and their willingness to offer me advice via email at the troubleshooting stage. I would definitely use them again.

I have been coming to Dotfoil for the last five years for all levels of problems with my computer or iPad. Most of time, they have examined the device and solved the problem within fifteen minutes. On these occasions, I have never been charged for these short evaluations and corrections. When the problem required an extensive examination, I have always been satisfied with the service being both accurate and prompt. I can not recommend Dotfoil enough. They are GREAT!

Ive had dealings with other repair shops in town over the years and its been hard to find a tech person who is also a human. Some are a bit robotic, some downright mean! But Michael at Dotfoil not only knows what hes doing on the tech side but is warm, friendly and extremely professional as well. I had some issues with my iMac and had to bring it back it several times to get to the bottom of what was happening. Michael communicated clearly and well at every step and figured it out. When there are other options for consumers out there, customer service becomes a tie breaker. Hang on to this one, Dotfoil.

My macbook would not turn on for me to access tax forms for completion. In a panic I searched for an Apple endorsed service center and found Dotfoil. I walked in with my laptop, got prompt service and in 4 hours had a diagnosis(faulty on-off switch)., and in less than 24 hours had my laptop returned fully functional. Cant recommend more highly. Unfortunately, my IRS tax news was not good.
I use Dotfoil for my personal Mac computer and have had fantastic repair service as well as learning about what tools and equipment are best utilized with my Mac. They have also been able to answer questions clearly and concisely compared to information I attempted to garner from the web which had left me dazed and confused. They are also our service provider for our Windows system at work and we have used them for at least 10 years. They back up our system, do repairs on equipment and help us fix any and all problems related to internet, networks and those unidentifiable bugs that can bring you to your knees trying to resolve on your own. Great staff. Great leadership. Overall phenomenal company. I recommend them highly to any individual and to any business no matter what systems you are using.
I have called the Dotfoil, tech staff several times, and have always had prompt, courteous help for my issues. I have purchased my last two computers from them and appreciate their service. I find it impressive to be able to get in touch with knowledgable professionals, with no long wait times, or annoying automated prompts etc.
I am writing to highly recommend the service provided me by Layton Ellington. He was courteous, patient, knowledgeable, and completely affable despite my lack of familiarity. I have had experience in other tech stores where the employees have been condescending and dismissive. Not so with Layton. I applaud your employee. It is a pleasure to do business with a company with such high standards for its workers. I would like to add that on a previous occasion, I was treated affably and respectfully by Tim Dineen.
As recommended by Apple, we took our computer there to recover information on the Seagate back up which had failed. They had the electronic equipment for 3 weeks,They never called to update us on the time needed to finish the job or the status. We called 3 to 4 times to get information.The Technician Gab kept prolonging the time it would be finished .Then there was another week delay because of Thanksgiving. WE Finally called John the owner, who also took messages and did not return calls.He then said that if we would purchase a new back up that they would set it up. When I went to pick up the computer, I discovered that the application for I photo was not there, So I had to wait another two hours for that.! upon returning home( 45 miles away) it was discovered that the back up that was charged $85 for was not even taken out of the box or programed. Company is much overrated and not consumer friendly.
My wifes ancient malfunctioning iMac was diagnosed the day I brought it in. An inexpensive fix was suggested, but I opted to buy a new one. Being a hopeless Windows guy, I paid Dotfoil a trivial amount to set up the new iMac, and transfer the data from the Time Machine backup drive. From start to finish just 24 hours. The several people I dealt with were uniformly courteous and helpful. Very impressed, very pleased.

Great repair facility, they stand by their work! I had Dotfoil replace a cracked iPhone 6 screen. They did it in 2 hours. A few weeks later, I noticed the dimming wasnt acting normal. I ended up going in, nearly 5 weeks after that install to have them check it out, thinking they would charge me to fix the issue. No! They admitted the part was defective and replaced it on their dime, again under 2 hours. Thats a great company that stands behind their work! When the new MacBook Pro ships in a few months, Ill be buying it at Dotfoil. They have my business from now on.Update: 11/2019, took my MacBook Pro Retina in because the internal battery swelled up. They had the part, replaced it in a few hours so I could get back to work. Excellent and timely service (with a reasonable expedited fee), faster than going down to Albuquerque and back. Tech cleaned out the inside, fixed a bent fan blade. So happy to have them here in town to support Apple repairs.

Im older than the internet, which means I struggle to keep up with every new iteration ofa software release or a new hardware gadget. Dotfoil always has the answers to all of my questions, and the patience to put up with someone not of the internet native generation. Took my computer there because it was running very slow. They didnt find anything wrong other than my virus protection program, Symantic, and firewall, Zone Alarm, were using most of the resources so they took them off and I put Webroot on it. They also installed more RAM. Two weeks later and no improvement in my system I took it to Best Buy. They found two rootkits, software that had not installed correctly and a few other items. Spent $181 at dotfoil and $216 for a years service contract and three more licenses to Webroot at Best Buy. Other than the extra RAM, dotfoil was a total waste of my time and money.

If you have a problem, dont use them. They are very terrible at contacting you about anything, and furthermore are extremely slow, and attempt to do things with your computer without permission or informing you. Its been more than four weeks and Im still having problems. Since they asked to send in my computer to be replaced, theyve left the box out shipped for 5 days, and according to them its only just been picked up. When i initially asked to replace the logic board, they did other replaces first which did nothing, until they did the repair i requested and when that did not work, ordered replacement under the computers warranty without asking me if i just wanted to pick up the broken computer. I would have much rather picked up the computer and request a replace myself, as it clearly would have been quicker, i regret fully not choosing to send the computer directly to apple in the first place at all. The place acts like its run by a group of teenagers and the person was working with me looked quite young anyway and they are less willing to talk to me anymore or provide details of progress because of how much they are slacking off.
Michael did a great job explaining the problems and solutions, then he solved them The price was fair and reasonable. Ive used Dotfoil several times and will again!
