This store had literally everything you could ever need! From everyday items to souvenirs, they had it all. The store is huge and has two floors for browsing. We got our classic state magnet souvenir along with some travel toys for the kids. We also got little grow your own cactus domes. They had lots of things to choose from and the staff was very friendly.
We came her almost everyday of our trip to Santa Fe. All kinds of toiletries and snacks. We bought the famous frito pie at the snack counter which was pretty good! Best of all are free bathrooms in the back of the store!!!!
Lets face it - there is one reason that every Santa Fe visitor must visit the Five & Dime and, without doing it, you have failed to experience the one essential task required of every tourist. You must order a full size serving of the Frito Pie and eat it while walking at least part way around the Plaza. Unless you can tell your friends you have passed this test, you cannot claim to have been to have been to the oldest real city in the USA. There must be no feigned gastric sensitivity or excuses for keeping the fat off your suede and leather. Just do it and, if you must, record the moment on your Instagram, Facebook or Youtube feed. We will be watching you.
Great postcard selection; they cost $1 for three. Lots of other souvenirs. I bought a sticker too. The store also has magnets and other souvenirs too. You can buy snacks and drinks too, and theres hot food available at the back of the store. The location is great, right on the Plaza.
Good place to get a soft drink. Inexpensive hot food (very limited) served in the back of the store. $4 Burritos, nachos, popcorn... Not a social hotspot, but if you just want a quick bite, not bad at all.
This general store has souvenirs, snack bar AND free public restrooms. It’s a life saver.
Has one of the only public restrooms on the plaza. Kudos to them. Purchased some stuff as a way to say thanks.
This place is great in that it has everything and more than you would good to find in such a store. Very nice to have when you need something like aspirin or a snack but dont want to drive.
Great store has many local souvenirs. They have a food place at back. Their Frito pies are so good! Must check it out!
A relic of the past, gone but not forgotten. The ole Five and Dime stores! Where a nickel could buy you a newspaper, a soda pop, and a candy bar and youd still get change!
Awesome! Lots of cool stuff especially postcards!
Its so nice, but I will always miss Woolworth.
Friendly customer service and very convenient location. Nice collection of souvenirs at decent price.
I love it. My favorite place in town
Great place. They have it all. Must show
I visited for the first time on a recent trip to Santa Fe and did not leave empty-handed. Not only were the employees nice but there was a huge selection of souvenirs. Said souvenirs were also very reasonably priced and made everyone happy. Next time Im in need of snacks or souvenirs Ill stop by again.
Fabulous and Great Customer Service!
Being an Actual Local Born & Raised in Santa Fe, I remember the Frito Pies made in the actual Bag of Fritos were Awesome!!!!!!!! i think it is still done that way. I even remember being real young and it being a Woolworths.
We definitely came here just for the Frito Pie (love you, Bourdain!) and it was exactly what we thought it would be (his description is actually pretty accurate). Overall, the gift shop is ok. Standard Santa Fe fare. We especially enjoyed the well stocked heartburn and antacid section of the pharmacy. Thank you for that.
Fun place to stop in for necessities, trinkets, souvenirs and snacks. Was highly recommend by a friend, we gladly pass along the recommendation.
I really enjoy visiting the Five & Dime General Store. Its a great place to buy souvenirs, postcards, knick knacks you can get Frito pie, ice cream, magnets the list goes on and on. Its also located in the historic downtown area. I highly recommend everyone stopping by and grabbing a gift for someone or yourself it really has something for everybody.
A local institution, and the place to buy affordable small Santa Fe and New Mexico related gifts and postcards -- or just get a pack of gum, Q tips. I think it is interesting and appropriate Anthony Bourdain enjoyed his first Frito Pie here at the small lunch counter in the back. It is both a holdout from a lot of the more pricey development around the Plaza, and a totally useful place to be able to shop while on foot downtown. It is old school and important in the tapestry of the Plaza. Thanks!
Horrible service ! They treat you like you are a leper. I understand we have to care for each other during this pandemic, but they don’t even give you a bag, treat you super rude. If you can’t treat people right just close !
Oh this is an eclectic little shop. There was so much stuff in there it was hard to appreciate because my eyes just kept going from one thing to the next. I was sure there was a place to eat in the back or maybe in the back upstairs but my sister didnt want to go there. I think we missed and adventure not eating there
One half tourist shop with CPS* and the other part traditional five and dime. For the touristy stuff they carry a lot of the same stuff other stores do and I think they are a little bit cheaper. They carry things that a traveler might need in a pinch. They also carry a fair selection of SW spices that also make great gifts for folks back home.Worth stopping in, getting a drink to go or a snack. If you need to get a couple things for folks back at home, also a good choice.*cheap plastic stuff
If you are a tourist you have to come here, they are the most reasonable with their small trinkets in regards to pricing and have a huge selection. Also a really huge variety of items to choose from.
A cool place to check out in the square. Tons of cool trinkets & frito pies.
We picked up some awesome souvenirs at great prices!! The line was long but moved quickly. The cashier was very friendly. There is also a lunch counter!! Go check this place out!!
This is my second home! I LOVE FIVE AND DIME!! they have amazing sunglasses that made me go back 4 times in 2 days! the workers even know my name! come here for everything- need an ugly friendship bracelet-five and dime. need a friend-five and dime. need cute sunglasses- five and dime THEY HAVE DESIGNER GLASSES FOR $12.99 come to five and dime!!
Everything you can think of. Need a hat? Need a toothbrush? Hot food! Ice cream! Popular place in Sante Fe. Just what the Plaza needs. Four Stars!
Im so nostalgic about this place. The same little infomercial about that wiggly thing (look out look out theres a wiggly about!), I think, has been playing for well over a decade. It makes me smile whenever I walk in. And there is such a variety of inexpensive gifts that youll find at many stores on the plaza for double the price. Nice people working there. Fun place to take kids.
Convenient one-stop shop for travelers who may have forgotten any essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste, Band-aids, etc. Theres also a lot of local themed items, some non-parishable grocery items, and touristy souvenirs/tchotchkes/curios.
This is such a fun store! There are all kinds of knick knacks, inexpensive apparel, wall signs, toys, and of course, hot dogs. Warning: the hot dogs sell out fast so get there early. I love the blankets, theyre inexpensive, colorful, lightweight, and easy to tote on those cool summer nights. There are cars, dolls, plastic lizards, hats, purses, fun signs for the home, wallets, shot glasses, cool Hispanic hoodies, cards, bottled drinks, and so much more. This place is full of nostalgic fun!
Wish I could leave a 0!!! Loved this store and all the cool, unique items. Unfortunately, some of the rudest staff in this town. Cashiers were polite enough, however the man working the snack bar could possibly be one of the rudest, most disrespectful people I have ever come across. “This is a local store.” I witnessed a poor woman carrying a suitcase around, who didn’t have a penny to her name, get yelled and cussed at for attempting to fill her empty cup with ice!!! Because she could not afford a drink. Ridiculous and unfortunate to visit a town known for its culture only to see how poorly a local treats another local. My friend bought the lady a drink after exchanging a few words with the man working the snack bar (who made the nice little lady cry), only to be treated with the same disrespect and foul language. I sincerely wish this store the best, but obviously some things need to change to create a more enjoyable environment for locals and tourists!!!
Pretty neat.. its the modern day Woolworths. (under 50? GOOGLE IT)
Cool luttle store in the heart of downtown Santa Fe New Mexico. Have the best Frito pies in the world.
Wide assortment of Knick knacks to browse through. The bulk of the items didn’t appear to be authentic and/or related to New Mexico like random stickers and cups for Arizona, I guess for the people that weren’t quit sure where they are.If you’re looking for cheap little souvenirs for kids this is a good place to checkout.
Amazing place and good staff!!
This is like the name says general store! Its a fun place to walk around and see all the things that they have, postcards shirts, hats, stickers, kids toys, metal signs and tons of more!Come and check it out! And get a souvenir for your fun friends!!
$3 minimum for debit card purchases on merchandise that is already priced twice as much as anywhere else in santa fe. I get that its the plaza but maybe its time to expand the convience store options on the plaza? Dont even bother wasting your time and money with the Anthony Bourdain Frito pies. #sad
Great little curio shop like the ones off I-40. Plenty of unique items for sale here. The store has a snack bar and is bigger than the outside looks.
I love that they keep the Frito Pies and lunch counter! Was a loyal luncher with my grandmother ages ago!
Fun stop for all things fun and funky. Lots to choose from and a nice selection of drinks and nibbles!
Love this place. So many childhood memories. 😁
Love this place. yeah, it is a bit (quite a bit) cheesy and not authentic but when getting something for non New Mexicans and kids it is cheap and fun to just snoop around. We make it a regular stop on trips to Santa Fe. they have public restrooms, too.
Nostalgia, fun gifts, good Frito pies, and the feeling of time leaving you behind in the old corner store grandpa used to walk to in his days. Great place to check out
World famous Frito pie? Maybe Santa fe famous....
If your walking around the. Santa Fe plaza its Definately worth stopping by the five and dime general store. Great souveneer shop. Fits perfectly into the downtown lifestyle.
This is where the Frito started, and it is still the best. You get a big bag of Fritos, lots of very hot and very tasty chili, and tons of cheese. You can add your own onions. A rare bargain in Santa Fe.
For those staying in downtown area, this is what is closest for food. But over half the shop is overpriced trinkets, and the food is almost entirely junk food. They could add a bit of food variety as a great service and profit center.
Great selection of reasonably priced souvenirs
My son works here great place to find all your land of enchantment needs
Loads of fun buying things I needed
The frito pie was HOT and goooood
Five & Dime is Santa Fe staple. Its the perfect stop for a frito pie and to grab a few local treats and treasures.
Great store. The frito pie was not what I expected. Had about 3 bites and trashed it.
Normal everyday Frito pie.. Nothing special, any new mexican fast food place can make the same. No tomatoes, no lettuce, not even a bowl.. Chile was NOT hot. Good place for a tourist that has no idea what a Frito pie is.. Anyone thinking this is authentic new Mexican Chile is WRONG. NOT HOME of ORIGINAL Frito pie either.. Not sure why people think that. Better off stopping by parasol or posas.. At least they understand customer service.
That have the world famous Frito pies green Chile stew and lots more and you can go mini shoping here for makeup belts and even like tide
Old five and dime store crammed into this space. Too cramped for leisurely shopping and full of what I think is junk.
Best Frito pies in the state.. hands down.. My moms, moms, mom has been enjoying the service and food...
As a store it is clearly aimed at tourists, but the real treat is eating at the snack bar. Many Santa Fe restaurants are very expensive, especially on the plaza, but this place is dirt cheap! Be sure to try the Frito Pie; it has been internationally reviewed for a good reason!
Worth going here just for the Frito pie.
Fair prices, given the fact that it is located in the downtown area.
I have been frequenting this store since it was Woolworths and it was four times bigger. They have the best Frito Pie on Santa Fe! Souvenirs and sweatshirts for Fiesta.
Cute little store, lived in Alb for 3 years and this was my first trip to Santa Fe! Great little store with nice souvenirs!
Go to the back and get yourself a frito pie. You’re welcome!
A novelty of a store a little bit of everything. Just closes to early. All of downtown sante fe closes early.
Staff friendly and helpful. In and out quick.
Nice quaint store in the middle of all the artsy store in downtown Santa Fe. Great stop to get some souvenirs or some quick gifts.
Always a good place to grab a frito pie. The only sad thing is everytime i go in, there are always people taking up all the chairs, but there isnt much you can really ask for when its on the plaza. Some of these things are over priced, but the food in the back is similar to what something in the plaza should be counted for. Plus they use the big bags for the frito pies and bot the small bags so you get your moneys worth!
Convenient for souvenirs. They also have cigarettes there. I bought two Santa Fe mugs. A bit expensive
Everything is super expensive here, but being the only general store in the plaza they can do that.
Pretty cool store and good frito pie but portions are on the small side for $5, also staff could be try and be friendly. I was not greeted, the frito pie lady was busy in the back and took a while to attend me. I come here often and I do not feel like a valued customer. A simple Hello how can I help you today? not hard at all, cant even Crack a smile... booo
The place to go for anything you may need in the downtown area from food and drinks, to souvenirs, try the Frito pies they are one of the best!!!!!
Best place for a gift for friends back home! Price is right so fill up your basket
Perfect for tourist needs- snacks, meds, cheap gifts. Plus, they have the best price on the wood incense and the biggest selection.
Unique little shop with lots of souvenir options for tourists. Staff could be friendlier.
Fun store to visit in santa fe
Neat general store that had everything you could think of. Bus loads of kids came in for souvenirs on a school trip. This is the place to try Frito Pie.
Good prices, great selection of cheesy souvenir and sundries. I got a bracelet and 2 t-shirts for under $25. Home of the Frito pie!!
Expensive store, items are pricey, did not have what I was looking for, lady that was working at register was not friendly, she didnt say hi, not even to say come back again or have a nice evening.
I went into this store to buy a few knick knacks a few days ago, 3 to be exact. When I went to checkout, the casheir had added a price ($4.99) for something that I didnt buy, when I told the Cashier about this after I had paid and gotten the receipt she got very upset and defensive and accused me of trying to fool her. After I showed her the receipt and proved to her that she did charge me for a 4th object (I even took my 3 objects out of bag) she then tried to say it was the purchase of the person in front of me and it somehow rolled over (he got gum thats it! couldnt be that expensive) after her explanation she went on to give me a refund back on my card and when I looked at the refund receipt a few days later when I realized it never went back into my account she never actually confirmed the refund. I strongly suggest that anyone who goes into this store to double check their receipt so you can be sure that this store does not try to scam you. Im afraid they have done this so many times and people have not realized it.
Lots of tschotchkies, but a fun little tourist stop and one of the few places open before 10 am.
Staff could be friendlier but its the home of the frito pie and if youve never had them here before youve got to try them. I try to come here every time I come home
Originally Woolworths the five and dime is a popular convenience store located right on the plaza! Cute and convenient but overpriced!
Theres something for everyone!Bathrooms are open to the public but in desperate need of some upkeep.
The store was nice, but was very crowded and had very narrow aisles.
Best place in Northern New Mexico for budget gifts.
Rude staff treat you horrible and terribly overpriced.
I enjoy walking around in this small store and looking at all the souvenirs.
A little bit of everything in here. Trinkets and small gifts everywhere, tshirts, hats etc.
I am a skateboarder that supports this shop because it is close to the skatepark. But me and my friend got kicked out for no reason. Im not sure if they have us confused for other people that go in there and steal. But I dont appreciate that we got kicked out of there for no reason. We asked them why they kicked us out and they didnt answer us. Im done supporting this store and I hope that they will stop what they are doing.
