Best place to find authentic, local art and gifts in all price ranges. Debi is the SWEETEST and most helpful lady in town. I detoured on my way home to Dallas from a two week road trip, three kids in town, and looking every bit the part. Normally when you walk into stores looking like this, you dont get the best treatment. Debi treated me as if I walked in with a million dollars to spend, which i appreciated greatly.I came in for a specific family of artist and she let me know (BEFORE I purchased from her) that they were actually in the square at the Spanish Market! Again, she did not have to tell me this, much less before i made a purchase from her!Additionally, she asked my kids all about their two week adventure and tested then as if they were mini adults. They, too, looked every bit the part of the second Saturday off a two week road trip through five states! She told my oldest daughter all about the artist that made the item she wanted to purchase, which made my fifteen years old excited to buy her first actual piece of art.Side note: I purchased a few things from her over the phone a few years ago, and she described what she had over the phone, then emailed me pictures to make sure I liked the pieces she picked out, then shipped them to me to Dallas.If you want great, personal customer service, local art, unique gifts, do yourself a favor and stop by here! Debi will inform you, guide you, and make you feel good about your purchase no matter how big or small!

This is seriously the BEST locally owned business in Santa Fe, if not all of New Mexico!! There is so many incredible items here, and not to mention the owner, Debi, is AMAZING!! Visiting El Nicho was truly the icing on the cake for my visit. If you are in Santa Fe, this is a MUST GO TO STORE!!

Many flavorful pieces of art including some famous Ortega family wood carvings. This shop supports local artists. Debbie, the shop owner could not have been more friendly and kind. True Santa Fe spirit.. Be sure to stop in.

Nice store but they apparently need help with customer service. Sent email through website requesting price of an item to purchase without any response or acknowledgement of it. Ordered same item from another store and received it within 2 days.

A truly charming store and equally charming owner. The place is chock full of folk art, jewelry and gifts of all sorts and for every price range. I purchased quite a few beautiful pieces but wanted more! Don’t miss it. It’s a gem.

What a treasure this place is. Not only do they have unique and well crafted artwork, Debbie, is also a wonderful and knowledgable person. She was so kind to my mom and I.. and spent time telling us about the area with cool and interesting things to do. Would love to come visit again soon.

Fabulous local art. Just fun stuff. Amazingly carved Santos that look as if they have been waiting in the wood to be released. Ditto birds, and animals needing to be collected. And the miniature clay houses, etc. Way too much to list. True Santa Fe folk art. Love it

I LOVE El Nicho! No place like it! A true treasure in the City Different, I own tow Joe Ortega animals and love to look at them every day! Everyone should NOT miss visiting this unique shop!

Great little folk art shop in Santa Fe with very friendly staff. Not packed full of stuff like many stores. If you want to take home a piece of original art without paying hundreds of dollars this is the place to go. My sister and I both purchased beautiful pieces by a local artist that I didnt see in other stores. Highly recommend searching out this place since its off the plaza on a quiet street.

This is an absolutely wonderful store. Mrs. Madeline Dunn is the proprietor and her shop is full of the Ortega family art works (including two sculptures by Ben Senior!) as well as other New Mexican artists. I had a really great experience there, made a new friend for life, and learned many things about the local scene and artists. HIGHLY recommended!

This is my favorite place to shop in Santa Fe... You can not only find real souvenirs (not junk to sell tourists) but you will also hear about where it came from...local and Native American artisans. To anyone really wanting to find a memory, not just a trinket... This is the place!
