Always polite staff that tries their best to ensure that everyone is helped. Been going here for years for camping supplies and shoes. The manager here is the best and his staff does the same.

The only couple things i dislike is being watched over like im up to no good or something, its not the way i dress because i dress nice all the time and not only that i got accused of such when they saw me put stuff back right where i got it from which is really upsetting. Other than that it is clean and they have a mask policy

It was ok,but not like it used to be with A large salection of firearms,amo.ect, I got a great deal also on a pocket knife 🗡️12.00 bunks down from 29.00 dollars, okay quality.i wouldnt of payed More then that for a less quality folding knife.

Ive had good experiences and not so good experiences at Big 5. Ill still shop here. Sometimes they have great deals and a few of the managers there are great.

Bought a knife here. Was much needed. Was in and out. Stayed long enough to check out a few knives. Bought a USMC on my way out.

The store is overrun of things being sold, feels disorganized & somehow feels dirty. Though I did find some hiking shoes they were not the ones i asked for model/color. Completely different from the one i handed to employee. And i was only helped because another customer pointed me out to employee though I was standing right in front of them. There was also confusion on what registers were open vs closed. I also saw for myself another customer being ignored when asking for size in shoes & a plead for help.

Found good quality tennis shoes for my husband for less than $40 so were happy.

Excellent service I received from the cashier Emely. I had a couple questions about some shoes and she answered all of them with no attitude super helpful young lady.

Horrible service, they dont want my $$$, but they do want me to wear a mask. This mask B.S. is over! I can go to Walmart and Costco and they no longer request you to wear a mask, but this place does! So go try to make a dollar off of someone else with a mask! You lost my business this time and probably forever!

Came to this location to look for some weights. They did not have much at all to offer at all. Their customer service was weak as well. Don’t even bother. Go to Pismo if you must. Nothing was stocked. Bad Retail Merchandising.

Walk in and saw employees around front register. I had to acknowledge them as I felt invisible to them. Went to area for firearms and hunting goodies. Look! Im still invisible! Had to go back to front counter and coax an employee to help me. My son worked for Big 5 for many years and I dont like giving mediocre reviews, but this one deserved it.

They have just about everything youll need for the outdoors and fitness.

I got a pop up canopy and it works well even with a little wind.

It was getting closed to closing time and I was in a hurry to find some Bearpaw boots on sale. They were very helpful. I bought the boots great sale.Thank you.

Big 5 Sporting Goods has a lot to offer a very wide variety athletic equipment and clothes, shoes and so much more. They have friendly staff thats always willing to help you out with what you are looking for.

Cleaning store very time I go in.

They have been great to me, taking returns with no issues which I am very thankful for. Clean atmosphere and very helpful.

Big 5 is certainly not the place for high end goods for those deeply involved in specialty sports, but it is a good place for starting out to explore a variety of things, or for more casual enthusiasts. It has a wide variety of merchandise, although this means small quantities, and often not the size one needs, etc. I do get good deals on sale items for things that do happen to meet needs, one just has to be patient, check in occasionally, watch ads, and wait for the right items at the right time. Overall, a positive experience, and I will continue to shop there for core items, shoes, etc., while going to more specialized outlets it online for specific things not found here.

They have a nice selection for being local. Im sure due to Covid there are no dumbbells in stock. Im not sure how long it takes to receive new shipment during times like these but since Im left to assumption i gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Id expect a store like Wal Mart not to have any because theyre not a specialty store, but if youre a sporting goods store Id have a little bit more expectation that youd have stock by now. Either way Ill be coming back. Probably not their fault considering these times.

Great place to go for anything 🤽sports🤾 related. My daughter plays Soccer⚽,Basketball🏀 & Softball⚾ and anytime she needs anything from cleats to headbands to kneepads I always know I could find it here🛍. Plus they have really good coupons💵. This store has been in Santa Maria for years⏳ so you know it has to be good to have last here this long.🎾🏈

Just had the worst service I have ever seen at my big5. I been coming here since the 90’s and have never ever been treated so unprofessional and poorly like manager “George” and his cashier working today January 14, 2020. I was given a discount coupon last time I purchased something and was told to bring it in on my next purchase to get 10% off. So, thats what I did today but they said that I had to wait for a coupon code to be sent to me first. I explained to the cashier that was not what I was told when I was given the coupon so I asked to talk to the manager. Then, with an attitude and smiling like it was something funny to ask for, she called George who then continued the “you are bothering me” attitude and instead of telling me “I am sorry my employee who gave you the coupon did not explain how it works” he continued with his attitude like I had made it up and told me I was not getting any discount with a nasty look on his face like he is now telling me how its going to be. I told him that was not the right way of talking or treating a long time customer. I told him all he had to do was to apologize and tell me that he would make sure his employees understand the right procedures. Instead, he continue to argue with me saying that they all know the right way of doing it. His cashier was now laughing because she thought it was funny. As I left the store, I saw another manager who was talking to George. Outside of the store an older couple came up to me and also told me that they had been treated the same way in the store. I will tell all my friends not to shop here anymore and will be making a formal complaint with big5 corporate. They say Santa Maria is center of the best. More like center of bad attitude and bad service at most stores you shop at and Big 5 Sporting Goods is an excellent example of it!

The Santa Maria Big 5 Sporting Goods store has gone through a remodel and has really changed their brand. This store now carries many different brands of athletic wear in many different sizes. The shoe department has also expanded and carries all the major brands of athletic shoes in all sports. The shopping center that Big 5 is located in has plenty of free parking, a Drug Store and many restaurants in walking distance. There is also a bank and ATM machines available.

Bought the baby daddy a nice fathers day gift here. He hikes and I found him a nice fanny pack and a survival knife with a leather sheath, for really great prices. Better than Dicks Sporting Goods in my opinion.

Manager seemed a bit rude, when I called when at 8 (note: I didnt not know they open at 9, was giving this number) and they say to call an hour hour later so they can their computers working, so i wait an hour and call back, to look for a certain item and they dont even use their computer, instead he looks for it himself

I always come here to buy all the equipment to get to go to the lake their prices are pretty good and if somethings not right with the price that always take it back thats what I like about Big 5

Great place to buy a firearm. To be American is defend Ones self and come in defense of ones Neighbors and wherever people are oppressed. plus they have great first aid and survival supplies plus all the sports equipment your kids will ever need for all of their sports stuff!

Terrible service. High prices, not one worker other than hispanic. Seems equal opportunity has been ignored here.
