I have been purchasing vehicles from the Sunset Group for about thirty years and have always been extremely satisfied. This was my first purchase of a Volkswagen. Susanne Sanders was my sales person and she exceeded our expectations. Susanne, is technically proficient about the vehicle and made the sales process quick and easy. She explained the car in detail. Also, Rob Sanchez, and his super cool computer desk made this part of the transaction quick and easy as well.Thank you for your help.
Apparently, the “accumulation” of white crystals seen on the DEF injector here is normal. This part is covered by the Extended Emissions Warranty. Pete Pomante, their service manager, stood by the decision not to replace this clearly leaking and faulty part.In the second picture Mark, another guy from service, is explaining to me that’s an “old accumulation” and no longer an “active leak.” Perhaps this part repaired itself? That would be impressive engineering!!! But I’m afraid the more likely scenario is Sunset VW doesn’t want to honor a warranty.
This was my 5th VW purchase in a row, but the 1st at this dealer.The experince was extremely pleasant and stress free. Most impotant, I was not presurred into buying unnecessary extras., as I was at other dealers. Salesman Tom Selby and the rest of the satff were honest and easy to work with. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND this dealer.
Inquired about a specific brand new, non-demo 2022 VW Taos via the website. I received an email and phone call confirming that it was available and I could purchase the next morning. I originally planned on going Friday evening but decided to go Friday morning instead.When I got there around 9:20am, the sales person I was supposed to meet was not there yet. Another sales person looked up the VIN/Stock number and told me the vehicle had been sold 2 days prior. I explained that I spoke to a real live person the day before who had assured me the vehicle was there.When Brian Green finally showed up he said we have 4 of those in stock. He never greeted or spoke to me. He told the other sales person that the vehicle was in the used cars lot. This sales person took me to view a 2022 Taos that had dirty drivers side floor mats, trash in the door, and someones USB cord plugged into the outlet. He told me this is a new vehicle, the employees drive them to and from work... theyre demos... this one only has 3500 miles. He also tried to show me another Taos Demo vehicle that had 20,000k miles!!!!I wasted my time driving down there from Ellenton! They were not honest and didnt even record my visit to the dealership!!! See photos... I would never buy a car from a dealership who cant be honest about something as simple as availability of a vehicle... SMHGo to Kuhn in Tampa instead! They actually had the vehicle and I was able to buy it the same day with no issues. Ask for Chris Adams
Called to schedule an appointment for an engine noise and specified that I would need a loaner as I could not wait. I was told the earliest I could get a loaner was 9/14/2021, so I scheduled the appointment.Upon finalizing the drop off of my car for inspection, I was told I could wait in the waiting room... I mentioned that I needed a loaner, something I specified when I made the appointment (otherwise I would not have been able to make it), and I was told they dont have any.At the very least, if they didnt have any loaner cars available on the day of my appointment, they could have called to let me know. Instead, I wasted 90+ min of my time. I will not be back to this unserious dealer.

Avoid this dealership if you can. I recently bought a certified pre owned vehicle from them. The buying process was easy enough which is where they earned the two stars. However I have never had a positive service experience with Sunset. The vehicle was not cleaned before I purchased it but they promised it I brought it back they would fully detail it. WRONG. They had me schedule the detail a few weeks out so I could have a loaner car. When I showed up there were no loaners available. They said it wouldn’t take long so I could wait. That should have been my first warning, as details usually take a few hours, not minutes. The “detailer” brought my car out and it looked exactly the same, with trash from the previous owner still in the car!! He told me if I wanted it cleaned to my standards then I would have to bring it in for a detail. WHAT! That’s what I brought it in for, maybe someone didn’t communicate that to him so he tried again. 5 min later he brought it out looking EXACTLY the same. So I was told to reschedule. Then the car started having mechanical problems. I was told to bring my car in EARLY Saturday morning to have the detail and mechanical problems fixed. Woke up early on Saturday to bring it in and I was told they didn’t have anyone there on Saturdays to fix the vehicle. So they gave me a loaner (at least) to hold me over, which was FILTHY. Couldn’t see out the front or back window at all and it was covered in dirt and animal hair on the inside. And they expected me to pay for the fuel, after all the time they’ve already costed me. Picked up my vehicle 3 days later. Thankfully the mechanical problems were fixed, but they still had not detailed the car. Previous owners trash STILL THERE. Sap and pollen on the roof still. Never wasting my time at Sunset again.

I went in twice complaining of my tire losing air and they said its fine without even taking the wheel off my car. they sent me on my way knowing I had a 2,000 mile trip ahead of me. It wasnt fine, I HAD A NAIL IN MY TIRE. second worst dealership in FL. VW port charlotte squeezed me in immediately, go there.

VW has big shortage of new car inventory. Sunset does not understand how to talk to customers about the issue. You walk in there to investigate a particular vehicle you are interested in, they dont have it, have absolutely no way to give you availability info. Plus they ignor your conversation and interest. They do not listen to your requests and all they do is talk about other cars they have to sell you. Frustrating, rather than retaining a potential customer they loose a great future opportunity. Shocking
Fast friendly efficient. A bit higher in price than other VW dealerships for routine maintenance. I was disappointed that a tire rotation was extra after paying over $500 in service

I didn’t even want to select one star. I purchased my vw here five years ago and could not have been happier with my sales person. When it was time for service I was less than enchanted. After moving back recently I thought I would give them a try again. I ordered a part and when I picked it up I simply asked the service dept. advisor if he would simply listen to something under the hood. He handed me his card and said if I still heard the noise after installing the part that I should call and make an appointment. I won’t be returning to this vw for service, except to return the part; it doesn’t fit.
100% the best, dont waste your time elsewhere. You will have the best car buying experience. I spoke with Brian the sales manager on the phone to get a rough idea of what it would cost before I drove across the state to help my sister with her lease. She ended up working with Marcus. He was kind, helpful and knows VW inside and out. The whole process was very smooth including the financing with Mr. Sanchez, we got a great deal and exactly as we spoke about...and the customer service was 5 stars. We are very thankful for the way the dealership treated us. I will definitely buy my next car there as well.
Came here when I was disappointed with my experience with Toyota down the road where I had to ask for help to look at a car and ultimately got a very rude salesperson, I did not really ever have VW on my radar but I found a car I liked and took it for a test drive - I liked the car but wanted to leave and do more research before making a purchase and they did not pressure me to purchase at all. Most dealers I go to, I ended up waiting around just looking at cars by myself because I never get approached and ultimately just leave, here I only waited for about a minute or two before a sales person very kindly approached me. The sales guy I had was very professional and very kind and was able to answer all the questions I had at the time for the vehicle I was looking at. I left very satisfied with the service but ultimately ended up buying a used model elsewhere as i found a fully loaded one in factory condition but will ultimately be coming back here for all my service needs as they treated me so well.

Took my car in to get an air filter changed. I received a call back naming a list of parts that needed to be changed in the car along with needing an oil change. It seemed weird since I just had an oil changed done two days prior. I was told that my car is extremely low on oil and highly recommend that that I get my oil changed and not to drive my car home. I told them to fix everything except my oil. When I picked up my car I checked the oil level and if anything the oil was over filled. That night I parked my car with cardboard under the car and there was no leak. The next day I went to the place that changed my oil and had them put my car on the lift to check. Once on the lift I was able to see my car was not leaking oil and took it to another garage for a 2nd opinion, same result no leak and if anything still over filled if anything. After writing a review from an email they sent me I received a call from Pete the service manager who told me to bring the car and they would take a look. Also told me the reason my cars oil level was full was because they topped off my oil. However that makes no sense that my car can be dangerously low on oil and they would highly recommend that I don’t drive my car home but a little top off would fill my oil tank. Now take more time out of another day just to show them my car wasn’t leaking oil because it wasn’t at the 2 different garages that I took it to and no oil leaking on cardboard under the car over night. I agree to bring my car in because I was told if there was no leak they would refund me my money which I spent almost $300 dollars on probably nothing, just charged me to hold on to my car for a cloudless hours. Once I took my car in there of course they told me my car was leaking oil. I told him to put my car down and I wanted to leave asked me what he wanted me to do. I don’t no if he wanted me to beg for my money back however the whole experience was terrible. Basically a full day to get an air filter changed followed up with 2 more trips to different garages to check if my car was leaking oil and then another trip back to the dealership which was a complete waste of time. I took my car there on 10-15-19, as of today my cars oil level is still full even though as they told me my car is leaking oil and would highly recommend me not to drive the car home. This place is a joke.
Got an oil change, simple process like always. Recommended for service. However, I bought from Bert Smith in St Pete as they bent over backwards to make a deal work. Sunsets price was higher and was not as accommodating so they lost the sale.

I recently had the opportunity to purchase a vehicle here and the experience was outstanding. Nick in sales was very detailed and he handled every one of my concerns and answered all of my questions. Ultimately, I believe we received an excellent deal. From there, Mark, the finance person was also excellent. There was absolutely no pressure and everything was explained very well, from start to finish. Sunset Volkswagen deserves five stars as a Class A, Number 1 establishment because of people like Nick and Mark.

Nick was easy in showing us the vehicles we came into look at. However, his demeanor was kind of rude and that he is above you. Brian Green the “manager” was always cutting my spouse and myself off when we were talking. It was almost a constant argument. Brian seemed to have no care about selling a vehicle.
Has never taken advantage of me! Provides loaners and great waiting area with free snacks & drinks. The only dealership I’ve ever been to that I can say positive things about. Def. recommend to anyone that wants a honest service department! + they wash your car when finished!

I purchased a 2009 Mini Cooper from Dario at Sunset Volkswagen. Dario was very nice,helpful, and easy going. It was the end of the year, and asked for a very good price and Dario made it happen without any push back. Well. 1 cent over what I asked.Sunset Volkswagen stands behind there product too! About a week after purchasing the vehicle I had mechanical failure that wouldnt have showed up during inspection. It was a pretty expensive fix and with zero obligation they stepped up and split the bill with me..Highly recommended, ask for DarioDerek Wright
Great cars and great service. Marcus K. is one of their best sales people and really takes care of his customers. On the service side, Ken is awesome. So, if youre shopping for cars and want the best in pre- and post-sales and service support, Sunset is the way to go.
Tammy was excellent, they fit me in immediately in the day that I didnt even have an appointment. They were completely honest about everything and did a pretty fantastic job. They told me it would take an hour and a half for my job and they finished it in under an hour. Im a happy camper.

I put a deposit down on a pre owned vehicle, booked flights to go pick up the car, only to be told through a text that they are not selling me the vehicle. Mark Cobb and Cranston Scott you guys should not be on this business. Your words have no merit, no value, and no hold no meaning. I will continue writing 1 star reviews about the horrendous situation you guys put me through.

Fantastic customer service from presale to postsale. Vega and Dario were nothing but responsive, courteous and very helpful which was much appreciated being an out of state buyer. Mark was helpful through the finance/paperwork process. They picked me up from the airport, and the dealership took care of a tire issue immediately without question. The goto place in SRQ for everything VW
They are very shady. When they printed out the total price and the monthly payments they inflated the prices from 418 to 430 a month for 72 months. They had said they tint windows for free before and all of a sudden it was 600 dollars. When we started to walk out the finance guy (I think he was) came out and got really pushy with us. He never gave a good reason the price was inflated. We compared it to a price for A Jetta SEL Premium at a different dealer which was cheaper in total than the Jetta we were going to buy (a regular SEL). It was a complete waste of time, I have a feeling that a lot of people have been scammed out of better deals. It reminds me of a scene in Fargo, (if you have seen it you know what I mean).
My wife and I stopped by the Volkswagen dealership this week and had the pleasure of meeting Volkswagen Brand Specialist Whitteny Meyer. She very capably assisted us in looking at vehicle options and followed through with promised information. While were undecided on when or what brand vehicle well eventually purchase, we wanted to give a shoutout to Whittney for her professionalism and assistance.

I am very pleased with the dealership, especially Suzanne and Cranston. I drove 400 miles to get the car, and it was well worth the drive, as I could not secure a deal with the area dealerships (especially Gainesville was dreadful). I highly recommend this dealership and the above mentioned sales people, and Ill be glad to talk about it personally, if needed.
This is a fantastic dealership. We didnt buy a car here but thats no fault of the dealership. We looked at several VW models but none exactly met what we were looking for and so we ultimately went to another dealership for an entirely different manufacturer which had the special car we wanted. The VW is a good car but it just wasnt right for us.Though we didnt buy a car here because of our special needs, the salesman at Sunset VW was outstanding in every way, as was the manager. The salesmans name is Dario. He is knowledgeable and patient and thorough without being pushy. Over the years, weve bought many different cars from many different places, and Dario is one of the best people weve ever dealt with. If you have any interest in checking out a VW, this is definitely the place to go.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Whittney during this time. Whittney went above and beyond to make sure that everything was taken care of for me and that my car was in TIP TOP perfect shape to pick up. I would, without hesitation, recommend the use of this dealership for a purchase. I was recently serviced at a local high-end AutoNation dealership and the experience was absolutely atrocious. Wanted to take a second to write this review because I had a minor issue today with my car. Brought my vehicle into the dealership, Mark Peters resvolved my issue within minutes, it’s nice to be a part of a great group and it’s nice to say we have people like Mark Peters and Dario working for us. They hold themselves to a very high standard of excellence and I’m just taking this second to recognize that. Couldn’t be happier with my service as a customer of the VW store.
Go to the Bradenton vw way better service! Speed car off at 115 for 130 appointment came back at 212, car not done air filter change and diagnostic. Was told my appointment wouldnt come it its appointment time cuz they squeezed me in when I made the appointment earlier today which I was not told. I was also told that people that wait for their car get seen first which in my opinion defeats the purpose of an appointment. Dont waste your time go to Bob boast Volkswagen in Bradenton. As Im leaving the young lady told me she didnt realize I had an appointment I needed to be to. It shouldnt matter where I need to be you should be able to give timely service.

I absolutely recommend this location if you are in the market for a new VW. We brought in an offer from the mail. Despite us not being eligible for the offer they worked with us at great detail to get us a deal that we are happy with.Shane Kulick was the sales professional that helped us find the right car. He was great. He was extremely professional and caring. He never took his eye off the prize which he made clear was getting the features my wife said were important and was not afraid to think outside of the box.We worked briefly with the manager (whos name has escaped me at the moment) and he was great to work with as well. There was no high pressure negotiation to drive the price down. It was simply a discussion about what our budget would allow and what he could do to help us get that price.We finished the process with Apryl. Having just bought a car (at another dealer) for myself and having dealt with a sub par financial representative for that purchase we can say that Apryl was a breath of fresh air. Apryl did an amazing job of summarizing the paperwork, and ensuring that we understood what we were signing without making us feel rushed in anyway. She was very professional and personable.This location made the car buying process very simple and enjoyable by removing any feelings of pressure, and making our needs a priority.
