I purchased a bunny from this store and they were extremely nice and helpful the cared about the animals health and they were really nice my bunny was playing dead in the store but when I brought Him home he was fine

Just picked up our beardie that we reserved on Friday. Took our baby home and followed the advice of Ryan as well as the dozens of hours of research we put into husbandry before getting a bearded dragon. Day one our beardie is eating well, both foraging crickets in his enclosure and hand feeding veggies. Despite being an hour in the car he seems healthy and relatively unstressed. Very happy with the staff and quality of our animal. Will keep this review updated as time goes on.

Great pet store! Went today for a fish tank setup and left with that and 2 parakeets. Everyone was very helpful and nice. We definitely will be making the trip to go back and use them as our go to pet store!

Knowledgeable but brought home feeders today and six had ich. Thank god I put them in a 20 gallon just for feeders.

Ive been shopping consistently at the store for some time. I appreciate the knowledgeable staff and the high quality pet food thats available. Saving money by buying cheap pet food doesnt work. Youll just give the money to the vet later on. I tried the catnip spray, but my cat ignored it so I dont recommend that. They do have the catnip in small bags, and the cat loves it.

WOW. I cannot say enough good things about this store. I was recently sold a bird from another shop that was sick and died. My husband and I were heartbroken and told that we probably did something wrong. We came here for a second opinion and Christine was SO amazing. She explained that it sounded like our bird was sick when we got her and it wasnt our fault. When we were ready, she took us around and let us interact with a few other birds they had there. She was so kind and patient with us. She wasnt in t for the sale which was a completely different experience from before. We left with our sweet baby Green Conure and she had paper proof that it is healthy! I will never go anywhere else for my pet needs. Thank you Family Pet Center!!!

I frequent this pet shop at least a couple of times a week. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about the pets and products. I go there any time I have questions about my fish and the guy is so nice and has helped me so much! I definitely recommend them for your pet needs. The prices are reasonable especially here in Sarasota and compared to the rest Ive found they have the best prices around.

This is truly a wonderful and helpful pet store. It was hard for me to believe that they would take care of the nails and feathers on my blue and gold for no charge as long as I spent $16 in the store. That is amazing! It used to cost me more than four times that amount to have a veterinarian do it! In addition, they are extremely friendly, answer any questions you have that they can, and really care about your pet. I highly recommend them.

At first it was our go to store in the area, now not so much. Seems like it got busy and customer service went out the window.

Today was my first time visiting this pet shop and I absolutely loved it! The staff was very nice and I like the fact that its a family owned business. Well I ended up leaving with the Pacman frog they had, such a cute little guy/gal. As soon as we got home he went right into his tank (not before biting my finger!) and he ate 5 large crickets. I would highly recommend this shop and I will keep coming back!

A great locally owned shop for your pets. Very knowledgeable staff and a great selection of dog food and cat food. They also have reptiles, birds and salt water fish. They know alot about pets and can advise you. Very friendly.

All the animals look like creatures in nice size slices of their natural habitat. Not prisoners in a cell waiting to be sold off. Always try to buy from local shops like these and support proper animal treatment.

Very nice store! Appears to be well kept with knowledge staff. If you like birds they have a great selection with a large inventory. They also have a large selection of reptiles and marine fish in very well arranged display set ups. They carry a huge selection of cages, fish tanks and terrariums. The store has supplies for any pet needs. Im giving 5 stars however we did not make any purchases so we werent really able to gauge that part of the service. Judging by the courteous and well educated staff I believe they will meet your needs there as well. Overall a very nice store.

This place is amazing they have a huge selection of exotic birds, reptiles, animals and fish. Their aquarium section is super dope as well. Bought our sugar glider from here too.

Sold my wife a pregnant hamster (after we were told they dont mix females with males) refused to take the babies and said sorry, good luck. Poor customer service. Will tell you they will call you back when they have certain stock but throw away your number when you leave. You have to actually seek people to help you out with anything.The only nice thing about this store is the bird seed and toy selection

I took my puppy John Snow here and it has been the first place is Sarasota that he has liked. He came home happy! We showed a picture of what we wanted to Angel and he came exactly how the picture was. She was extremely professional and great! I highly recommend this place!

The animals are so well taken care of and all pet supplies are reasonably priced. The rabbit I got here 3 years ago has grown up well and will soon be getting him a friend.

Today was my first time visiting this store and I was pleasantly surprised. They have a great variety of everything especially fish, reptiles, and birds. I also felt that the staff were more knowledgeable than the chain pet stores.

My kids love pets, so we bing in more than few of petstores, but this one was one of the best, as my kids said, (18 and 23), for us they are still kids :), the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, answered all questions and gave the best advices what product is best to buy which one not necessarily for Parrot we were shopping for, even though they had great variety of the products, its rare to find service like this. RECOMMEND!!

Purchased guinea pigs twice and they were healthy however I was told they were female and they were male I already had a female to start with and now I have five😑

A great family owned business, usually busy, nice fish dept, also sells birds and small furries. Good selection of high quality foods. Best part is the staff...so knowledgeable, helpful, and nice! Customer service is excellent.

You would think as a pet store they would promote proper care of the animals that theyre selling, but instead they set a bad example and pass that bad information off to the buyer. They had a Senegal chameleon that was extremely sick but still on display and for sale. Not only was the animal skinny but its skin was blotchy and would not open it and had symptoms MBD which is caused from improper lighting and is FATAL if untreated. To make matters worse they had the correct light literally inches away from its cage. They also had 2Panther Chameleons for ($400.00) both have blotchy skin, skinny and have the wrong light on them as well. They had 3 juvenile Veiled Chameleons in the same cage(which is improper). On top of that They had the Dome light on them (Dome lights only provide UV if the animal is within 3 inches of it. With notging in between and the UV light that They do provide when the animal is within 3 inches of it is not strong enough) that cause MBD. So there is a good chance these young They had a Basilisk for sale with a bloody face but otherwise looked healthy. As for the other animals I cant speak to their health as I do noy have the expertise and knowledge that I do on reptiles. Pic is of the Senegal with the dome light and the correct light next to him

Super nice, helpful people work there. Their prices are fair. Its not a large place, but they still have a nice selection of animals and accessories. I would recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been going there for years mainly for my parrot needs. Everyone is helpful with any questions I have. The parrot food has always been fresh and reasonably priced. Great store!

Smaller selection (fish) but worth the visit. Tons of reptiles birds and mammals just not my bag. Fresh water and Marine fish look great - corals are priced well but again, a bit limited. Ocassionally they have really interesting stuff like a bright orange frog fish or this almost clear sexy shrimp paired with a maxi. Nice folks again worth the visit.

Such a friendly and low-key place to visit. Ive been visiting them for several years for all of my snakes and ferrets needs as well as toys for my cats. The staff are knowledgeable and will help you find the info and supplies you need for proper care of your pets. They also cater to various birds and small rodent pets and provide grooming services as well. They also recently expanded their store to include aquariums and various fish, both salt and freshwater varieties. Love visiting this place!

Just started going here a few weeks ago and wow! I came here for a special product from another county and it was a perfect discovery! Well worth the drive! The fish and tank section is awesome! They have all the best fresh and saltwater tanks along with some coral frags. Competitive prices and its always great to shop locally. Big store and a lot of selection of reptiles and other animals. Store also sells salt water for your tanks by the gallon. Friendly and helpful staff that know what they are doing! If you have any questions about fish I highly suggest you speak to Chris. He is a great guy who will help you with all your needs for fish.

Best Pet store in Sarasota!!! All different types of animals! Christine the owner is down to earth, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! She even gave me a dozen crickets one time for my chameleon because I left wallet at home. Great prices and even has ways to earn rewards. All employees and nice, knowledgeable and helpful. My Dogs love all the different types of treats she has to offer. Tons of choices of flea meds and shampoos that actually work! This is a must for any pet lover in the Sarasota area. Wish I could give this place 100 stars lol!

I purchased a $600 bird on October 31. On November 1, it was clear that because of constant squawking, It was not the right bird for our household. That same day we brought the bird back to the store and had to surrender it for FREE because of the no refund policy. The store will sell that bird to someone else for another $600, so why do I get screwed but they make $1,200 on a $600 bird? Why? because they only care about the dollar and they dont operate their business with any ethics.

Always love shopping local when we can. Small pet shop with lots of supplies avail for run of the mill pets as well as exotics such as sugar gliders. All animals for sale looked healthy and happy. We ended up taking home a cutie dwarf lionhead bunny!! Staff we worked with were knowledgeable and patient.

Dont use grooming service. They cant keep consistent groomers. They dont know how to contact you if the groomer doesnt show up.Third time I have gone and the groomer wasnt there. Wasted my whole morning. Im done.

Always have a good selection for my cockatiels toy needs and food needs. They have great pricing on the zupreem pellets I feed them too! You cant get it pre packaged or do it yourself at a deal!

We bought a Parakeet on Monday. He was really quiet and he didnt move much when we got him home but we thought he was just getting used to his new home and us. Three days later we found our baby dead. Were heartbroken.He was in a cage by himself at the store. Maybe this should have been our cue that there was something wrong with the bird.We went there because we thought that theyd take better care of their animals than big chain stores.I wouldnt buy another pet from this store.

Very cute animals but I purchased a rabbit from here and it had a severe severe case of mites. It was the worst case the vet has ever seen. The rabbit looked worse than any photo that’s on google. Now my boyfriend got a pet mouse from there and it also has a bad case of mites. This is the only place I’ve ever gotten animals from that have been sick, and with the same thing. Could be some kind of freak coincidence but I think they have a mite problem.

The staff is great. We drive from Lakewood Ranch all the way to Sarasota just to shop here. Prices are reasonable for a family owned store. Their crickets last longer than any of the big name stores we buy from. They always have things on stock or order them for us if they dont. Definitely recommend them to anyone in the area.

I’ve shopped at there when it was previously “Animal Crackers” since 1997. So glad they’ve reopened the shop under a new ownership. Wonderful to have a bird and aquarium specialty shop. The staff their is always knowledgeable and so helpful. Especially their fish tank guru whose very patient and kind. I believe his name is Chris, he goes the extra mile to assist us. Our Thanks to the entire staff!

This is a family-run pet store.the owners are extremely conscientious about the care of their animals and also are extremely knowledgeable.I recommend them to all of my family and friends over buying from the big chain stores.

If you always want a saltwater aquarium in your house, see a gentleman by the name of Chris. Extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in every way. I highly recommend Family Pet Center. Do not even bother going to another place to get a saltwater aquarium, you will get ripped off and most of the people do not know exactly what they are doing, Chris does, and he grows his own Coral, sponges ect.., and has seahorses for sale.

Its a nice little neighborhood pet store.

Great little pet store with a small selection of birds, reptiles and other small mammals. The do sell feeder rodents too! No other pet stores with reasonably priced frozen rodents in the area. They also offer pet bird boarding for a reasonable price. Only reason I did not give 4 stars is they could be more personable and attentive.

This is a great locally and family owned pet store. We bought a cockatiel with all the supplies and we couldn’t be happier. They worked with us and made our experience the best possible.

Went in about two weeks ago to check out their snakes because Id been interested in buying a ball python. They were very helpful and friendly and were able to answer any and all questions I had. At the same time not trying to pressure me or sell me anything. They had a ton of beautiful snakes, one of which I ended up going home with. Jupiter is a beautiful ball python who is extremely calm and friendly and curious snake. She also happily took to eating frozen and thawed even though she fead live her whole life. Great service and a great animal have already suggested them to people I know, and I plan on shopping there for all my future pet needs.

Just wanted to say this pet store is the best pet store in my whole town I go in there every week asking all sorts of questions and buying feeders for my lizards and they have been nothing but kind and helpful in making sure I get the things I need. The owners are terrific people along with there son! There other employees are great as well! If you want something and its something they dont have they will special order it for you. You can tell they actually care for the animals they Bring in and make sure they are as healthy as can be unlike some places I know (petco). Thank you to the owners and there staff to being such great people I will never shop anywhere else for my pets needs!

They are family owned & you can definitely tell the difference with how personable they are with all there customers. If theres is something you want that you dont see in the store they do there best to get it in for you. They also have a rewards program which is a huge plus. There prices are amongst the lowest in town Ive noticed as well. Five star pet store!

Many years ago I worked at a pet shop in this same location and it has obtained a sort of mythical status in my memory. I watched in horror as iterations of pet stores replaced the original and failed miserably in every aspect of their mission. This store is different; when I walk in I feel the magic that I remember from years ago, that had been so obviously lacking from the previous incarnation. The staff is helpful and friendly and the animals are healthy and well kept... I love that I can look forward to taking my son to a location that was so formative for me and not fear either of us being disappointed.

The people couldnt be friendlier or more helpful. The prices are GREAT and OF COURSE the birds 🐦🐦 were a riot!!! I stayed an extra 10 min just playin with them.

Really a great store! The animals they kept were so well taken care of, they all looked good with appropriate enclosures for the species. While they didn’t have what I was looking for, they were very kind and helpful. Probably the best experience with a pet store I’ve ever had. Bonus points for one of the employees (owners?) having pet pigeons! It’s rare finding someone else who has house pigeons. I can’t reccomend them enough 😃

The reptile room has a great selection and is always clean. My kids love to see the great variety of pets they have. My dogs get groomed here and always are well taken care of and look great. Awesome to see a family run store like this doing well!!
