I was thrilled to receive my kitchen knives back today! They are all incredibly sharp and make cooking a joy again. My knives are about 5 years old and had never been professionally sharpened. There are a few knives I hadn’t even been using as I was afraid of cutting myself with how hard I had to press to cut anything. Krystina did an amazing job and even offered her professional advice on how to better handle the knives and how to better utilize the steal for honing.

They did a great job sharpening the 12 dull knives I brought in. When i say these knives were dull, i mean it was like using hammers to cook instead on knives. Afterwards they were very sharp. The price is very reasonable and I will definitely go again when they become hammers again.

I recently went to Sharper Than New, for the first time, to get a Japanese Chefs knife sharpened professionally. This is definitely the right place. Krystina, the owner, is certified by the Japanese manufacturer to sharpen their knives professionally. She even showed me the equipment she uses sharpen a blade without taking away a lot of the knifes edge. Shes also great at instructing you how to use the knife properly to prolong the edge on the blade. The shop has a display of some of the best knives made. Great service. Called late afternoon to get 3 grooming scissors sharpened. The scissors needed to be done by 8 a.m. the next morning for a new job my daughter was starting. They actually fit in the job and didnt even want to charge extra for the last minute rush request. Will use them for all my future sharpening needs. Very nice people and very professional. True craftsmanship is hard to come by these days but Kristina, the proprietor at Sharper Than New, is a throw back to the times when people studied hard and accepted apprenticeships to learn skills that would make them masters of a craft. As a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, I know the value of finely honed knife. I wont let anyone else tough them - shes the best at what she does.

Met Krystina yesterday with a chefs knife, two pocket knives and a pair of pruning shears. The only place to go for knife sharpening! I recommend making an appointment but I happened to luck out and got my Wustof classic knives sharpened the same day at a great price. They are a Wustof dealer as well so I’ll be taking their advice and buying my knives local from now on. They just moved into a new location so despite being in the middle of renovating still provided great service.

I had three Cutco knives that I hadnt used for years. I broke them out a week ago and ugh.....they were about as useful as plastic knives. I brought them to Krystina, and 20 minutes later I had knives that were perfectly sharp and made food prep a breeze. It was well worth the 30 minute drive to get there, and Ill definitely bring my Wustofs to her when I unpack them.

Took two Shun knives that were so damaged that my expectation were to simply bring them back to usable condition. Krystina not only exceeded my expectations but brought them back to like new condition, stayed within Shun specs and managed to do it in one day. I highly recommend them, I know I will be taking the rest of our knives there.

I recently brought Krystina a whole slew of blades that needed sharpening - a set of Henckels, a hatchet, loppers and hedge shears. Thats a pretty good test of her skills, and Im happy to say she passed with flying colors. I finally got out to do lawn work this weekend, and can report that the hatchet in particular is definitely sharper than new, and the loppers are cutting through things better than they have in years. Hedge shears are great too, and the knives are just as youd expect. Speaking of, she even spotted an inconsistency in the Henckels that Id never noticed, so she definitely knows her stuff. And she went out of her way to accommodate my schedule on dropping off and picking up the blades. Five stars out of five.
