I just finished a shore dive with Mike today at Esplanade in Venice. The dive conditions for my window of availability were very limited and over the course of three days Mike kept me informed and found a great spot. He was very friendly and professional and knowledgeable. We encountered a manatee, sting ray and a variety of fish...Ill be back to see Mike agan!

Mike was an awesome SCUBA instructor. I took my 2 kids down and the three of us got open water certified under his guidance. His equipment was clean and worked perfectly, and he took the time to calm some of our nerves as we entered some low visibility sea conditions for our open water dives. Mikes knowledge of SCUBA and of the dive sites around the area made for the best conditions we could ask for! Very personable and he made it fun for all! We did the online course before arriving and he had all of our information ready to go and proctored the final exam.highly recommend!

I can always count on Mike to help and give me the straight scoop . I was certified with Mike almost 20 years ago and his enthusiasm for the sport hasnt faded. Thanks for all you have done for us over the years .

My husband and I did a Discover Scuba open water dive with Mike Hays of Ocean Pro Dive Shop, and we could not have asked for a more perfect introduction to scuba diving. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and he has a laid back and jovial personality that makes him great fun to work with. We met up at Emerson Point Preserve, got fitted with gear, and learned basic concepts and skills on land before wading into the ocean to practice in shallow water. Only after we had passed Mike’s safety checks did we make our way out to deeper water (~15-20 ft), where Mike gave us the signal to descend. Visibility was excellent that morning, and we got up close and personal with coral, starfish, flounders, sea urchins, jellyfish, small crustaceans, and even a ray. It was a wonderful experience that opened up a whole new world, and I wholeheartedly recommend going with Mike if you’re curious to see if scuba diving is something you’d enjoy. I’m definitely planning to get certified at some point!

This is the best dive shop in the area and Mike is so worth it!!My husband and I went for our honeymoon. He has dived multiple times and loves it, but it was my first time. Michael/Mike, our instructor, was amazing!! He is so informative, helpful and patient, but fun and laid back. He made me feel completely comfortable and he worked with us to find days/places to go diving when the weather was not great. My husband said he was the best instructor he has had.

Mike did a amazing job accommodating us after flew in from Michigan just to find out our dive charter was canceled from another dive shop. Mike hooked us up with tanks and shore diving info and then did a guided shore dive with the shop the following day. We hooked up with Melissa during the guided dive and had an amazing time diving with her at the 3 Piers location and then a second dive at the Spanish Rocks Reef location.

We had a great experience with our shore dive. Mike was very attentive, very knowledgeable of the dive sites in the area. I would recommend Ocean Pro Dive Shop if you plan on diving in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.Palmer & Eva

If I could give no stars, I would. I booked a snorkeling trip for 2 at the Point of Rocks several weeks prior to my arrival in Siesta Key. The day before the trip, Mike texted me to let me know he may cancel due to weather, totally understandable. The day of the trip comes, he texts me again and he cancels the trip, no problem. He asked me to reschedule and I explained I couldnt as I was leaving the next morning. I then waited 3 weeks with no refund and kept contacting Mike by email and text asking for an update on that with no responses. I ultimately had to contact my credit card company and they gave me my money back and said they would take care of getting their money back from Mike. That is so unprofessional and absolutely ridiculous. Obviously, I dont recommend.

Although the dive trip I experienced went without any issues I had to write a bad review for the overall management. I paid to use a go pro on my dive and never received the videos I took. I emailed and called at least 4 times and was told I would get them, still no videos and no email or response back. Beyond that the instructor was late to meet me and couldnt answer any of my questions about species of crabs and fish. Overall not worth the money.

Mike was a great instructor! Knew the waters like the back of his hand and was super knowable! Also he has great prices cant be beat

Mike is unprofessional, and well, just an airhead. I wouldnt trust him on land let alone underwater. Equipment is a joke, training is subpar. Better choices for the quality conscious. If you want cheap. he is the man. but, you get what you pay for

After calling every dive shop in the Sarasota area I decided to choose Ocean Pro, and Im so glad I did. The instructor Michael is not only extremely knowledgeable, but also knows the waters in this area like the back of his hand. If you are looking to get certified by true professionals who really care about your safety and success then I highly recommend this dive shop.

We had a great time during our snorkeling tour with Mike! He showed us really cool place to snorkel besides Point of rocks, it was worth driving there!

Awesome guy! I was working on a very tight budget and he made sure I got everything I needed! He has an excellent inventory.... Even pink BCs and regulaters!!! His prices cant be beat! Also has cheap gear rentals!

I booked a 2 day diving trip in Sarasota for Friday/Saturday. Thursday the owner of the shop informed me that he will put the Friday/Saturday lesson together. Friday late afternoon he told me that the dive course is starting at 8.00 am and that is 1 hour away by car. Did not reply to my email when I asked for reasons first. Then offered me a refund, which I accepted but never got it.This is not how business should be done - especially in diving, when its about trusting the instructor!

Very good customer service, but I forgot to get my personal 5 min. emergency air filled. Next time.

The man who helped us get our gear together (BCD, Octo, Shorty wetsuit, weights and tanks) literally took an hour to complete our visit to the shop. He was high and very unhelpful.Our gear ended up being probably 10 years old and barely functioning. My depth gauge did not work and had buoyancy issues the entire dive.My friend that went with me rented from the same shop and his BCD was leaking air the entire dive. If we were any deeper than we went this couldve been very dangerous.I do not recommend this shop to anyone.Visited November 2015
