Stopped by and got an old SR45 fixed. Did a great job getting it back to looking new. Had a good selection of firearms that are priced pretty well/with the market.

I brought my rifle in for a simple stock change and buffer spring replacement. After 3 weeks of no work done to my firearm I brought it elsewhere and the work was done same day. Theres really no reason it should have taken so long. Take your business elsewhere if you want your gun back within a reasonable timeframe.

Brought a Glock in to have new sights installed. They completed the service same day, however, the front site was not flush and the back site was not centered. I had to redo the job myself. I used their service under the impression that they would be more precise with the installation than me doing it myself. Not the case.

I need some work completed, and mission accomplished. The staff friendly, knowledgeable, and answers any questions asked. Easy to find off Whitfield ave, in Sarasota County.

My husband wanted a specific gun for his birthday that no one had. I spent a lot of time calling shops with no luck. Until I reached out to JM and they had it and priced way under what I expected. Staff was amazing and knowledgeable. They made the transition so easy and I was so impressed by this shop. Would definitely recommend this shop.

I highly recommend this shop. Like many others my mother was left with some of my fathers gun collection when my father passed away. Some of the items were specialty black powder rifles that have a unique market.The shop was kind and compassionate, met with my mother and I and offered a very fair price. A wonderful experience!

This local, family owned business of 45 years has retained what most businesses have lost, customer service. Very knowledgeable, very helpful, and especially in these times, very fair pricing. I am not talking about fair as in comparable to the rest of the market, Im talking about a business that has some integrity and willing to do the right thing and not trying to get rich and retire overnight. I highly recommend this business.

Words don’t describe the inept service I received. I wanted a barrel replaced on my M1 carbine needless to say it took a call from the county sheriff detective just to get my own gun back. And the work was never even started six months after I dropped it off. I have bought a couple of guns from here over the years but I will never set foot in this place again. A 1 star review is too high but couldn’t put anything lower.

Everytime I go in Im treated with kindness and respect. Im new to reloading they answer all my questions help me with reloading equipment and supplies. For the gun items I am unable to make or repair, I take it to them, knowing they will do an excellent job at a great price. I look forward to many more visits

I have been waiting for a specific gun to come in for three months. The gun finally came in and I was excited to go pick it up. After multiple emails between myself and Ben confirming a price, I went to pick it up. When I got there I was told I couldn’t buy it for that price. The email literally confirmed that my price would “always be $XXX”. After showing the email and explaining that I had intentionally passed up on the gun online for the price Ben offered me, as I wanted to support a local gun shop, I was told that they would not honor it. I was not even offered an alternate price. So much for trying to be the support a local gun shop guy. I guess I need to find a different local guy to support.

Absolutley the best!My Dad has been dealing with JM for a long time, he suggested them to me and Ive been going there as well. Have bought plenty off ammo from them and had rifles sent to them Ive ordered online. They charge less than every other dealer for FFL transfer fees, and they are the nicest people. They provide excellent advice, and they even talked extensively with my wife when she had questions about self defense and concealed carry. Please understand that they are not responsible for delays due to COVID-19, just about anywhere I go I hear complaints about shipping times and things like that, low inventory. This is not their fault, they cant just make things happen any faster than the manufacturers, suppliers, shippers, etc.

Not a very fancy place, but the service and professionalism is priceless. Wish I would have just started out talking to Jim about what my idea was and had him lead me the way. He put on my scope and rings (purchased elsewhere), but I needed a riser. He had it in stock and showed me why I needed it. I am happy how I purchased my scope and had him to install, however I think I may have done better just to tell him what my rifle goal was and listen to his recommendations. I feel I just went the hard way. If you are an expert on scopes and installation have him put on your gear, if your a new-by, go talk to him first. Oh, I received same day service, within an hour to be exact.

I have purchased several firearms here and will continue to be a loyal customer. The service and pricing is great. I have never been disappointed.

Excellent place that definitely fills a niche that is often times missing with Big Operators. I have brought in Old Guns of mine that I thought were inoperable and they didnt try to steer me away from it and sell me something but fixed my firearm at a very good economical price. Hence they seem to be very honest people and their knowledge, which they give out, freely is always helpful . They have an excellent Gunsmith and a pretty good inventory of new and used weapons ! Glad I found them !

Just came here for the first time today and was very pleased to deal with such welcoming and knowledgeable people. I was looking for black powder supplies and was surprised to find a wide variety of black powder supplies, reloading supplies, and a plethora of firearms at very fair prices. I will most certainly be back, and recommend them to others!

I have never been to this place but, for the first time ever in my 82 years, I am writing a review even though I have not concluded any business with JM Gun Repair. The service is above and beyond anything that represents the norm. The owner of this establishment even kept his word and called be back with just why he was doing what and when and why it would benefit the customer, me, in the long run.

Excellent gun shop! Knowledgable and friendly staff. They have a real gun smith and this is a real gun shop. If you want guidance purchasing a firearm or have a repair you need, this is the place to go. Like I said, this is a real gun shop. Nice to see opposed to some of the other shops in town that might as well be shoe shops.

This is by far the most experienced and knowledgeable Gunsmith shop in the Bradenton/Sarasota area, and possibly further. They have a large ammo stock and a very good selection of new and used firearms. If you havent been to JM Gun Repair - GO! Youll be glad you did.

Nice Mom and Pop gun shop. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Fairly large inventory for such a small shop and prices are very competitive to shops of that size. Master gunsmithing service there too so paying a little extra for great service is worth it.

Ive been a patron of this gun store for over 10yrs & for good reason. Jim is one of the most experienced gunsmiths I know and I know quite a few. Ive always had a positive experience there and would recommend them over any other gun store in the Sarasota/Manatee countie area, hands down. Small selection of firearms. Mostly use them for FFL transfers because of low cost. The staff seems knowledgeable. I have not needed gun repair but they would probably be the first place I would try.

Best GUN SMITH in the tri county. There are gun stores that advertise gun repair, and then ship your repair to people like J&M gun repair. Then there is a gun smith shop. Big difference.

I am highly surprised to be writing a bad review after all the great things I had heard. I brought my Taurus 1911 in because the rear sight screw had fallen out and I did not want the hassle of sending it back in and JM was across from where I work. I dropped of my pistol telling them that if it was going to be a problem to get parts just put more expensive sights on it and I would pay for them no problem. After over a month had passed with no phone call or info I stopped in to get an update but no one was there that knew about it so they said they would call me first thing the next day. By noon the next day still no phone call. I went over to pick up my gun and figured I would just call Taurus and get the part myself. I was told the screw was on order and I told them I would just take the gun no harm no foul. I got some attitude about what are we supposed to do with the screw we ordered? So I offered to pay for it and just let them keep it. after a lot of them looking around I learned they had lost the rear sight and was told they would try to fix it in a day or so. I respectfully passed and took my pistol and called and ordered the part from Taurus and it will be here in a day. I am so very disappointed. I really assumed this was a quick easy fix not something that would draw out for over a month and they would loose parts. I will not return or recommend.

The only Master gunsmith around you need anything done besides replacing Parts he can do that too along with Machining like installing muzzle brakes they can do it all great place

I have a rare handgun and they not only were able to repair it for me it was very reasonable pricing good work and they also gave me tips on using the proper hollow points because the ones that I was using did not work properly with my handgun and inform me which ones were it is a very dependable full service Gun Shop with great employees there I have been referring all my friends to them plus I will be going back this week to have two of my grandfathers rifles to be brought back to life

Great place we had a .22Lr and it broke in half some how (we smashed on an otter trying to kill it) and we took it here and it is good as new ps it still has the original stock pps. They are the only place we can find .22 ammo
