Visiting Scarborough at a near by RV park, driving by noticed On The Vine Market. My wife who enjoys quality meats decided to visit the meat depot. She bought chuck roast for stew, meat was unbelievably tender, full of flavor. Also purchased the bone in extra thick pork chop, cooked with a dry rub and placed in air fryer for 14min. OMG we both said the best pork chop we ever had!! Pork chops had little veins of marble, the juiciest awesome piece of meat! Was planning to make a meat loaf, noticed they offered already made loaf. Another OMG experience, very tasty with little fat residue. One last purchase was the ham hocks for split pea soup, fantastic. Oh, also the chicken wings were good quality as well. We left Scarborough before cooking all the meat purchases. Biggest regret, should have bought a load of meats to put in the freezer. Local shoppers are so fortunate to have such a wonderful place to buy meat. The butcher who assisted us also gave an awesome customer experience!

Recently had the pleasure of planning outstate Baby Shower for our daughter in law and son-Planning from Vermont, party Maine.Val was so very easy, made several suggestions. Desserts were absolutely beautiful and DELICIOUS … highly recommend Raspberry Cheesecake

The Quality produce and other pantry items they carry are amazing. The deli case with ready made side items and entrées are delicious with a constant rotating variety. I frequent On the Vine and I happened to be there today- you will not find better service anywhere. The staff goes out of their way to help you. I was asked at least 3 times if I needed help finding anything starting from produce all the way back to the meat department. You are made to feel welcome and valued as a customer. And Im not done... The bakery is second to none their cupcakes are actual Art. My sons first birthday is this weekend and they are making a large assortment for us- we are EXCITED. Valerie was even kind enough to take a last min addition to our order today. Thank you so much for being awesome!!

Found this place a couple of years ago on business trip. Drove up today from NH for long weekend. Amazing selection of high quality produce, sandwiches, pastries, seafood, snacks, and cooking ingredients! Kind of a blend between Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Taste Unlimited stores in VA Beach. Amazing. Prices higher but you get what you pay for! Highly recommend!

I already love the store and their deli/bakery/grocery options, so when I ordered a birthday cake from them for my sisters 30th I had pretty high expectations. From the start, communication was easy and regular. That was immediately a plus. Then there was the ordering process, again so easy and smooth. They listened to what Iwanted and let me send in pictures They made the cake to my exact specifications and it was soooo good! It was a huge hit and hardly any was left afterward, which says a lot because it was a massive cake! Also the value for something so beautiful and delicious could not be beat! Under $80! I highly recommend OTV for anything you need!

I was disappointed with the low amount of local producers on the shelves. No local dairy or eggs, and hardly any vegetables from Maine farms. I also didn’t appreciate the building being poorly maintained inside and out (the interior floors in particular). Seems to need investment and new management. Sandwich I got here was not good. I did appreciate how nice the staff was! Rosemont market and the Portland food co op are better options(prices included).

This store takes you away from the impersonal shopping experience of big box store grocers and into a unique small town feel where the customer matters. We have driven by this store so many times and today we decided to meander in and see what they had to offer. Their selections of fresh produce, mouth watering meats, and enough beer/cider/wine to make me want to become an alcoholic will keep us coming back time and again. I love this place probably came out of my mouth 20 times before we checked out. To top it all off, the employees were smiling (smiles that reached their eyes) and treated us like we were long time friends. If you havent figured it out yet, we would highly recommend giving this store your time and business. Its local treasures like this that deserve our support.

Love this store, but do NOT buy their hotdog buns that are brioche-style and Baked in FRANCE with Love -- I tried slicing them in half and they fell apart. Maybe Im supposed to smush and mold the broken bun bits around the hotdog, a-la PlayDoh style or something... Clearly the French dont eat hotdogs (nor do I blame them), but do NOT get these in hopes of a good cookout, as you could end up the scourge of your barbecue... and for goodness sake, leave these in France.

I live in another state, so to be able to send my grandparents a birthday cake from 2,000 miles away during a pandemic is priceless. Thank you for making this work!

Absolutely changing my review after going in today. We went in and noticed their no new normal signs etc. Not giving a business my money or risking my health for selfish people who wont believe in the science of mask wearing or supporting the things we need in the name of unity to ensure everyones health &safety in this country. So sad. Loved the place sm over the years and now definitely not going back. Grow up, On The Vine. No one likes the pandemic, but we all have to do these things so we CAN have the normal back. Sigh

The butcher is the reason to go here. Decent produce and local beer selection. The hummus selection is a situation, I kind of wish they made their own.

Discovered this market about a year ago. Started coming here for this and that, but its grown to a regular stop for us. Especially the meat area, which is fantastic. They have a butcher and ground sirloin (grass fed!!) and chuck daily for delicious burgers. Even better are the steak tips, particularly the maple bourbon - which are amazing!!!!

We’ve been loyal customers for a few years. Their recipes are inconsistent and getting worse. Our go to Buffalo Mac and cheese was so spicy we threw it in the trash, this last time my kid was actually got sick from eating it.

Went in the weekend before mask mandates were to be lifted, and there wasnt a mask in sight on any of their employees. Really disheartening.

The Bostonian was pretty damn good. Tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and meat to bread ratio was pretty much perfect. I could have used a bit more of the horseradish mayo for my taste, but I realize most people wouldnt like that.I called in my order and it was ready when I arrived.

This store is a great place to get fresh baked good and locally made honey, jams, and jellies. There is so much more too. Cant wait to visit the area again, so I can go back.

Ordered a few baked goods and I’ll just say there are people who are good at decorating and people who are good at baking. Sadly sometimes not good at both as in this case. Everything looked beautiful but was either soggy (cheesecake crust) or stale (cupcake and macarons) all overpriced in my opinion. I’ve never seen anyone put plain tasteless icing in a macaron before. Enough said. 🤷🏻‍♀️

LOVE this place. Everything is fresh and many items are local. My recommendations- try the bacon pea pasta salad from the deli, raspberry macaroons and lemon blueberry bread, maple bourbon steak tips and meatloaf from butcher. This local business is really well run, organized and clean.

A great place to go for a sandwich at lunchtime or to grab some things to avoid going to the supermarket. They have lots of local and unique items so I would recommend you check it out. You cant go here without finding something you want to try.

Deli makes great sandwiches and wraps with quality Boars Head meats. Store has good selection of mid to high level specialty foods.

Nice spot but we ordered 2 roast beef sandwiches on the chabata roll. The bread was very stale and the roast beef was dried out, and brown and it smelled terrible.Unfortunately we were to far away by the time we took them out of the cooler to return. So we are the bag of chips for lunch. Doubtful we will return. Yuck!

The food, albeit a bit pricey, is very good overall. They are doing a good job with social distancing and adhering to numbers however my guess is about 40 percent were not wearing masks. They should be required to do so. More upsetting was that none of the staff was wearing a mask. If you’re gonna promote healthy food please promote health, especially during a pandemic!

I have not been in any store for a couple of months - I was so surprised and disappointed none of the employees were wearing masks. I have been so careful and will not return to a store where the employees do not care enough to protect their vulnerable customers.

We have gone to On The Vine for many years. Tonight, we were taken back that none, not one, of the staff was wearing a face mask. I am blown away that they do not realize that its more than protecting your customers. Its protecting everyone.

Great store with great food. Bakery is fantastic and so are their prepared foods. My only issues is none of their employees wear facemasks. Dont really understand this in the age of covid-19. Even more so in the food industry.

This is a great place! Love the fresh made sandwiches. Salad bar is small but has a great selection to choose from. Sausages are fresh and delicious. Organic selections, local selections. If you have a sweet tooth their dessert section will be beyond tempting!!

This year for Easter dinner we wanted something very special for our family and friends. We decided to try a beef tenderloin from On the Vine. I needed a little help figuring out exactly what would be best and the owner of the store himself called me and explained several options. We decided 2 ( 3 1/2) lb. tenderloins would be best. He was so helpful, informative and pleasant. Needless to say this meat was the hit of our dinner. We had rave reviews from everyone...including our 11 year old grandson (unheard of with him!) This meat was so tender, fat free and incredibly flavorful. And yes, expensive...but for a special treat...worth every penny!!! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Whole heartedly confused with the interaction I had at the deli today. I ordered the classic italian (hard salami, ham, bologna and sharp provolone) and asked to substitute sopressata and genoa salami for the ham and bologna. I said I had no issues paying the per pound cost for the special items. One of the women behind the counter told me that was not possible again I stated I have no issue paying an additional cost just please build the sandwich for me. What I got was a wrapped roll with the veggies and 3 separate bags with the meats and had to build the sandwich myself back at my office. Still being charged $12 to make my own lunch. Why order a sandwich if you have to make it yourself?

I waited in line to enter the grocery store on 6/7/20. When it was my turn to enter the building a young employee (without a mask) told me to stand by her and wait. I then looked around and observed that none of the employees had masks on. I asked the young lady why not and she replied that the owner said he had no control over it and ultimately did not feel it was a risk. Discouraged, I turned around and exited the building. This policy, or lack thereof, demonstrates that the owner and management are not concerned with the well-being of their patrons. Especially in a town (Scarborough) that has so many elderly residents; this is flagrantly irresponsible. For the sake of our vulnerable residents, I will shop elsewhere.

Employees are not wearing face masks during COVID pandemic. Including in food preparation, putting their customers at risk and not adhering to Maine requirements. It is a shame that this business would operate like this when so many others have closed due to the pandemic. OTV also ignores the requests of patrons to have employees supplied with face masks.I only give two stars because the selection is good, prices are like any specialty food store and I believe the store to good from my experience if I disregard what was mentioned above. Curbside pickup is available but I will not continue to shop from. Whatever everybodys opinions are on masks, the company is required by law to have their employees wearing them and fail to do so.

Recently my daughter and I got 2 steak tip subs. The sub wad perfect and tasted great. Will be back again to try other sandwiches for sure.

This community has a high rate of Covid.This store is reckless. A ground zero for the CORONA VIRUS in Scarborough, Maine.The manager/staff ALL REFUSE to wear masks since the pandemic started. On the Vine is a great store! Fresh produce, tasty bakery section, and decent selection of wine and beer (upstairs). Its also in a convenient location to stop off at on my way home from Salt Pump (climbing gym) or surfing at Higgins. The people that work here are very nice and even helped me with some car trouble today.

My wife and I have been shopping here since the stores opening, the food quality is 2nd to none, best ever! Today my bride had sea food chowder which was perfect, I had a tuna sub which was also fantastic! Love On the Vine!!

Outstanding meats. Yes, they are pricey but in this case, you do get what you pay for. When the occasion calls for an amazing steak or steak tips or melt in your mouth prime rib there is only one place to go. I will drive past closer places to come here. Just arrived in Maine with my fully certified service dog to visit my daughter for Thanksgiving. I’ve had my fully certified service dog for two years and have never been questioned or ask to leave anywhere until my first experience in Maine at this store. I was there with my daughter because she wanted to make a special meal for me. Under any other circumstances this would have turned out different, but for the sake of making a scene I obliged and waited outside.My dog’s vest clearly showed I am a Vietnam Veteran and my dog is a fully certified service dog, but this man never acknowledged either one of us.Based on what I read about this part of Maine I thought it was very supportive of veterans.Not this joint. I’ll never go back and either will my daughter who was a regular client.

Ive driven by a thousand times and always wondered what it was like. I finally went in today to check it out. I was impressed by the variety of things. I really didnt need anything but ended buying a couple of produce items that I have never seen in a regular grocery store. The butcher shop looked pretty amazing and the bakery items had me very tempted. Im glad I finally went in and plan on returning soon.

I love and hate this place. Its convenient and carries good stuff, but something is off. I think its a combination of expecting some of the pre-made foods to be a little bit better, as well as the weird layout of the store, that keep me from shopping there more.

I work next to this place and want to love i . And i get why so many folks review it highly, but...i just get stuck going here. Please whoever owns this, pleaaase just make it a little better. I want to give you my money but im done until something changes. Ive spent hundreds here...and maybe 10% of the time feel good about what i got. Maybe! Why do i go there you ask, bc everything else is closed in the winter.The food is often old. My hummus today was literally dry like old clay. Lol. Its also expensive as hell. Hummus and pita, over 7 dollars, stale and dry. I thought, maybe i should return this, but instead im writing this passive aggressive review. Dont be like me. Get your 7 dollars back and go somewhere else.I eat meat but theres nothing for vegetarians pretty much...so my gf isnt interested. Feels a little disingenuous with the branding. Lol bait and switch. I can get a meatball sub on every corner in this state, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE BRANCH OUT. The sandwiches in general....so much meh. The stuff behind the deli is never fresh enough looking or interesting enough to get me excited and the pre made food selection is literally pasta with sauce and a meatball for like 10 bucks. Ouch. Always bored with the menu. Always dissapointed with the food. Always spend waaaaay too much.This looks like a farmers market but it is a tourist stop b4 the beach. Dont be fooled. I would say its a step up from subway but not worth the jump in price.The fact is its your best option nearby. I mean its subway, a few delis on the beach, pier fries, the worst mexican food ever and them so they will do fine, but damn...so much potential and really im just not into it.

Really like the butcher and bakery sections of the store and think they have some of the best quality in the region. Some grocery staples are a fair bit more expensive than the grocery chains, but the great staff always make a trip here a good experience.
