Great chocolate & great vibes! I am not really one for posting reviews but people should know about this little gem right in Schenectady. The chocolate is not only delicious but also creative. So many fun dipped things and great bark combinations as well. I used them as favors for my wedding and they were a huge hit! The owner Heather is super friendly and helpful.This store is a labor of love and it really shows.

One of the reasons we go to concerts at the Bardavon is to stock up on the dark chocolate Oreos.

The shop owner is pleasant and the atmosphere is lovely! However, the chocolate made at home by the owner taste poor. It taste cheap and flavorless and though there are amazing concepts what is created within store, the quality to what is being put out ruins the point of what sells in store. Other things sold within the store are charming and very diverse and the vintage feel is otherwise charming. I really wish the in house chocolate was just better.

Some of the best chocolate Ive had around the area, Heather is not only always creating new delicious creations... but she is also super friendly and helpful! She is always willing to go the extra mile, and think out of the box. I highly recommend ordering your custom chocolate creations from Bittersweet! She also helped create a chocolate with hops in it for a special occasion, 10/10!!!!

Best candy store in the area. Outstanding selection of anything that you could ever want as far as sweets. The owner is very knowledgeable about her craft and just about everything is made by hand. The most amazing chocolate! I dont even like chocolate (I know Im weird) but I look forward to ordering every year. My clients also look forward to receiving their holiday gift. Shipped all the way to Florida and it is always fresh and delish! Highly recommend trying this candy store.

Best peppermint bark Ive ever had. The owner is really nice and the shop is cute. We picked up a few little presents for the holidays too. Well be back for sure.

I visited Bittersweet on Sunday, not only did I get some amazing Chocolate raisin peanut butter bark (the chocolate is so yummy)but I also picked up some nostalgic candy to send to my childhood friend of 30 years(so many candies we use to eat as kids)not to mention the chocolate teddy bear I gave to my mom for her bday (she loved it) the owner Heather is the nicest owner on Jay street and definitely knows her chocolate. I will definitely be returning again..and again!!!

Adorable shop with amazing hand made chocolate treats, as well as super fun and sassy gifts. The peppermint bark is my favorite. Season permitting Heather’s treats can be shipped anywhere! Clean shop with appropriate pandemic precautions in place!

The candy from Bittersweet is unique and tastes amazing! All of the bark combinations are to die for! I personally love the s’mores one or anything peppermint. We drove an hour and a half today to shop at Bittersweet. The chocolate is amazing. Previously, Bittersweet was located in Poughkeepsie, about a mile and a half from our house. Heathers product line has grown in volume and quality and there is no better place to buy stocking stuffers for the holidays. Highly recommended!

The owner was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. She has tons of unique flavors of chocolate including vegan versions of most. I really enjoyed the dark salty pretzel bark. I will certainly return.

My family has been going to Bittersweet since the minute it opened, and has never been anything but blown away by the quality of the chocolate skillfully crafted. The flavor profiles Heather comes up with blows our minds every time. Happy to accommodate custom orders, we have a few family favorites made special at a moments notice. Her on-site kitchen is only one chocolate waterfall away from putting Willy Wonka out of business, and we couldnt be any happier!

I stumbled across BittersweetCandy and was intrigued by not only the variety but the unique combinations. I ordered a couple boxes online and waited. They came well packed and I noticed that this was all hand made chocolate. 10 mins later and box one was gone! Absolute perfection! Bittersweet has been my go to ever since! Excellent quality! Exceptional customer service! I’ve chatted a few times with the owner and she’s such an amazing person! I will always support this small business. Well... twice a year for my fix!!! There is a massive variety of chocolate flavors here, my personal favorites are the Java bark and pistachio/cherry bark. Also a great place to have a gift basket done for parties and holidays, I have used Bittersweet several times for some last minute party snack baskets.
