Came here to try their salted Hudson cold brew. I liked it but was hoping it would have been more unique or flavorful. It was still great coffee though. I also ordered the doughnut mini muffin which was very good. The woman who took my order was very friendly and nice too. Next time Id like to try their other drinks. Bonus, there is a parking lot behind the coffee shop which made parking much easier!

This place is a jewel in town. The absolute best vanilla bean latte I’ve ever had. Their raspberry shortbread is also amazing. Great customer service and very cool atmosphere.

To quote my son, this place is “too good for this area.” Some of the best coffee, scones, cookies that I’ve ever had. Lovely space. Welcoming staff. Thank you for being here!

Love this shop! I ended up finding this shop and sitting here the whole day after being swamped with work after finishing up with an appointment nearby. Ive been a customer ever since!I love the aesthetic (I take a ton of stationery/work-life pictures for my own business so the lighting in here is perfect!!) and the coffee and food menu is awesome!

New favorite place! For about 2 months working remotely, (to keep things exciting) I pick a new coffee spot to go to once a week to try out. This is definitely the winner! Bonus- it’s only about 10 minutes from my house! I ordered ahead, to pick up- “The Uptown” which is- A Black Drop twist on a classic. Currant Standard iced tea with our lemon mint iced cubes & a “Lavender Latte” which is - Housemade lavender vanilla syrup, our award winning espresso with my choice, almond milk. (Seasonal drinks) absolutely amazing! So tasty! I was getting these drinks for me and another person, by the time I got back my partners drink was already almost gone. (Haha) Also, don’t want to forget; I LOVE, love!- the interior of the coffee shop too! Super chill spot, can’t wait to bring my laptop next time so I can enjoy my drink, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the atmosphere of the establishment. I am a huge “tea person” and after getting the Uptown, I can’t wait to try all of their teas! Super tasty- bonus the tastiest, most creative ice cubes I have ever seen. Definitely recommend! Just had citrus rosemary scone. I would probably say that this is best coffee and scone combination I ever had! Plus the service was good especially Maureen. She is brilliant! If you like your coffee shops with great ambiance then this is a must-visit! We will be back again!

Best gluten and dairy free baked treats Ive ever had, and home made. Great summer drinks, too. I dont know the owner or anyone related to this place, Im just glad to have a cafe near me that responds to my needs and creates a good vibe.

The best part about this place the owner is there working making sure everything is good. Ive been here twice so far I tried different things each time. I dont know what Ill get next time everything has been good so far.

A gem of a coffee house.The coffee is exceptional and the unique creations of pastries are to die for! The owner / pastry chef was warm and welcoming even after the hurricane Ida challenges.Scotch Plains finally has a superior barista ..Black Drop Coffee.

This was quickly becoming my favorite place. Good coffee. Good food. But it’s been too many times now that I’ve seen and experienced unprofessional behavior from the staff. Friends have as well. I kept going back because it’s really a beautiful place and I wanted to support but after the last time, no thanks. Everyone there needs to do a better job of giving warmth and appreciation to customers. Everyone.

Everyone is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The coffee is excellent, as is the food. The drink specials change seasonally and are a nice addition to the standard coffee shop menu items. Its always very clean and theres ample seating and wifi. A great addition to Scotch Plains!

By far my favorite coffee spot in the Scotch Plains/Westfield area---and I go to pretty much all of them. Love the Americano (cant seem to get one as good anywhere else) and I love their gluten free stuff, especially the sweets, which they bake there. The staff pretty much all knows me by name at this point and they all know my order. The people who work there are super friendly and very accommodating. I go to different coffee spots with my laptop to work and this is my favorite spot for that. They have several fun seating areas in the front and a huge table in the back where multiple parties can set up shop and work or just gather. Really cool ambiance and good background music (not too loud, which drives me nuts at other places). And my husband love the cold brew.

First time visiting this place, I always drive around the area and never got the chance to stop by and try their coffee. Being a native New Yorker, I was spoiled of experiencing some great tasting coffee. Honestly this coffee shop are in the same category as what I experienced in NY. Their staffs were friendly and welcoming and the decor of the place is well executed. And Oh, their cold brew is AMAZING! Definitely looking forward to visit here more often!

Coffee is delicious, the food we have tried is also excellent, typical coffee shop fare with a little twist. It is obvious that they really sweat the details at BDC. They have outdoor seating in front and in back that is quite cozy.

Their chai latte is so flavorful. Great atmosphere, nice staff. Really a gem for downtown Scotch Plains. I just wish they were open later so I can go more often.

Black Drop coffee provides excellent lattes and coffee. The people that work their are courteous and extremely friendly, a very professional staff. Every time I go into their establishment, it is pleasant experience. Strongly recommended!!!!

We popped in here during a house hunting trip a few weeks ago. The Nitro and ice coffees were smooth, not bitter and non-acidic. If you like cookies, give the peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie a go 😋

I started coming here from Summit for their great coffee but primarily for their mini duffins which my 3 year old daughter LOVES. We often make an outing of it. We get coffee and a cupcake and then walk across the street to the fountain. They even have a changing table in the large, private and clean bathroom and a convenient parking lot in the back. Today we came with 3 other families (7 kids total) and I pre-ordered 5 of their mini duffins to make sure we didnt run out. They were very accommodating to our big crew.

Ive never seen a place have so many reviews repsonded to by the owner and the owners friends respond to the reviews. Its so obvious, especially the review attacking another reviewer. Its very high school behavior. How can we trust reviews when its clear the owner tracks them and people attakc others?Aside from that, I have been there a handful of times. Coffee is fine. I did enjoy my Americano and the ricotta toast was good. The other stuff was fine. Boxwood in Westfield is more impressive to be honest. I had hoped SP would get something more like that. In general I dont like to review, and keep going places even if I havent had the best experience because usually things iron themselves out especially with new places but after seeing the reviews here being so sketchy, I had to add my two cents.If I were the owner, I would tell my friends to leave reviewers alone and maybe the owner should too? Its weird and looks like they are trying to intimidate people. Not exactly ideal customer service.

This is the 3rd time here... today my customer service was the best Ive had..I only had a cold brew but it was excellent...the employees were super friendly and conversational... unlike my Last experience with the middle aged male who was angry

I love this place. Not only is their coffee great, but their lemonade is fantastic. Its made with a touch of rose water (I hated anything with rose until I tried this lemonade. Its transformative). Downtown SP needed a place like this!!

I was really rooting for you Black Drop. We had a great 1st experience but the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th time sucked- it was inconsistent and expensive and just not the same. The woman at the register, not the owner, was also a little too high up on her pedestal. Just not warm and inviting.

Convenient local spot, friendly staff & very, very good cold brew. Nice interior, has an upscale but still cozy feel. Would go back.

Coffee is great! They also have vegan and gluten free treats they make in house that is out of this world

First time visiting the establishment place is very nice I did meet the owner she is very engaging and knowledgeable. We ordered breakfast and coffee and was very pleased with the service. One of the most important things for me is the bathroom it is very nice and clean. As a new business I know it is challenging but I could tell they have the best foot forward and are trying very hard to make it a great experience.

Improved a lot since my initial review when they first opened. Hours have been expanded. The staff is friendly and professional. I love their iced Americano. Also like the chocolate chip cookies. Some of the pastries are very good, while others I found a bit dry (like the pumpkin scone and the vegan cookies). Still wish they offered traditional hot-brewed iced coffee. Cold Brew is ok, but not for everyone. Its great that they bake everything fresh on location. Best coffee shop in the area now that my old favorite (Coffee Box in Plainfield) is closed.
