Michelle and her team are amazing! We worked together to choose all of the furniture, paint/wallpaper, lighting and art for my condo. From the first time I met her, she understood clearly what I already loved and how to add to that to create something Id love even more. I was worried that working with a designer would mean being pressured to spend more than I wanted to but that was never the case. We chose pieces from the same stores I wouldve shopped at on my own, plus the team found things from places I didnt know existed. I only wish Michelles own line of fabrics and wallpaper had existed at the time ... planning to get her wallpaper for my den!
I am so glad that I thought to ask Michelle for help with the renovation of a triplex we purchased. It must be amazing to have Michelle’s ability to look at a space and immediately know exactly what it needs. She helped me maximize the rent potential of our property through changes to flooring, kitchen layout, and even small cosmetic tweaks while keeping a close eye on minimizing costs. And she is clearly in touch with not only the latest design trends but also what is going to endure and look good decades from now. I am always so thankful to have her guidance when I run into tough design decisions, as she always ensures that my renovation dollars are well spent. She is also a lot of fun to work with and I really appreciate her clear and direct communications style.
Our general contractor, Blue Sound,, recommended that we engage Michelle to design built-ins for our bedroom. We are so glad that we did. We knew what functionality we wanted out of the built-ins. But we had no idea what they should look like. Michelle came in and talked to us and investigated our space. She quickly came back with a proposal that avoided some missteps we’d been planning, maximized use of available space, and integrated seamlessly with our 1901 home. The history buff in our family visited recently and complimented us on how “well-preserved” the built-ins were - ha, joke is on him! Our built-ins are drop-dead gorgeous, maybe the prettiest thing in our entire home. We aren’t exaggerating when we say that we appreciate Michelle every single day.
From a contractors perspective, you couldnt ask for a better team to work with than Michelle Dirkse Interior Design. Their plans were thorough and complete, which may sound normal but in actuality is less common than you may think-- making contractors look bad and off the mark. Not so with Dirkse. Everything was abundantly clear and specd out, and when we had questions, their responses were prompt and effective. Our project manager still raves about what a seamless, enjoyable process it was to work with them. The end result is that an urban project that we anticipated being tricky to perform came in under budget and on time, with beautiful, sophisticated results. As builders, we covet using our skills to create lasting, artful projects and a satisfying building experience for clients, and with this team, we were able to achieve all that and more.--Ben at Blue Sound Construction, Inc.
Michelle is an amazing designer. She was able to understand our style and what we were looking for right away, and in many cases influenced us to consider ideas that werent in our initial vision. The result definitely exceeded our expectations! Its been a year since we remodeled our home, and we still love every part of it. Michelles team is very competent and professional.
Michelle is part marriage counselor, part artist, and part visionary. My husband and I bought a 1989 designed condo, which needed some serious work. We had no idea where to start. She worked with us, especially listening to both of our needs and likes, to create a home that we truly love! We verbally comment to each other regularly how much we love how our home makes us feel as well as how so many details just work great for our family. Michelle painstakingly designed and documented every detail. While this was not inexpensive, it saved us extra expenses with our contractor and certainly resulted in a design that we are so happy with!
Michelle did a great job in taking a 1960s era 200 square foot bathroom and turning it into a classic with a timeless design and finishes. While she had a good vision for the end product, she listened and incorporated our important criteria into the final product. She also assisted in sourcing a reliable and quality contractor (Howard Freeman ). Michelle was always available throughout the process to clarify questions from us and the contractor and in the end, we ended up with a beautiful bathroom. (our iPhone picture does not do it justice)
Michelle is a pleasure to work with! She combines an amazing design esthetic with strong communication skills. I was so pleased that my projects -- first a 500-square-foot apartment and then a 750-square-foot condo -- werent too small for her. Michelle is very conscious and respectful of clients budgets and preferences. I never felt like she had an agenda other than to leave me with a space that was functional and lovely. Her recommendations for contractors to do work in my spaces were great.
Weve worked with Michelle on three completed projects (living room, master bedroom, nursery) and are kicking off a fourth - furnishing an empty house for my in-laws who are relocating to Seattle.Michelle and her talented crew are a lot of fun to work with, and most importantly they get the style my wife and I want, but are too overwhelmed to do ourselves. They really know their stuff, and Im continually impressed by how they pull pieces from multiple vendors together into a cohesive whole. Definitely a huge step up from me buying a pre-designed set at a retail store!Theyre money very well spent in exchange for less stress and a beautiful home, and theyre great about selecting pieces to fit into our budget for each project, too... without it looking like we set a budget!
Michelle and her team helped us pull together some amazing interior design for our recently renovated home. Its sharp, clean, sophisticated, and just what we were looking for. Theyre easy to work with, professional, responsible, timely, and at the top of their game. We highly recommend them.
Michelle and her team worked with us to update the main floor of our 1940s home, and later, furnish it. She is a great listener, respectful of budget, and helped us to establish our personal style - marrying modern and traditional design elements. We are so happy to have worked with MDID - we could have never achieved such a beautiful, cohesive interior without her expertise and counsel.
Michelle is an amazing designer who is the utmost professional and has a great/creative design sense. Worked with her on two projects with her picking out furniture, materials, and accents as well helping manage my contractors. Both projects came out fantastic in the end.
Looks very interesting, I like their designs
Amazing Seattle designer with a keen, creative eye and fresh perspective.
