Arrived 15 minutes early for pick-up. The rep was extremely friendly and helpful. I was out of the parking lot within 10 minutes. Rented a 9’ cargo van which had only 10k miles on it, was clean and worked great. At drop-off the guys were excellent again. I literally parked up and they took care of everything straight away. Within an hour of leaving site I received my final receipt via email. $50 for six hours rental (incl $10 damage waiver) - you cannot beat it. Great experience, thank you to the guys at Ballard.

The staff at this location was on point and did a great job. However, as of yesterday (Aug 7 2021) This location is not accepting after hours drop-off. There was no indication of this fact on-line when I made the reservation. So, it came as an unpleasant surprise when I arrived to pick up the vehicle. I had to push my limited helpers (recall, there’s a pandemic) harder than I would have liked, and then abandon them briefly to ensure I was able to return the truck before 5. The reasons are valid but I had to mention it here because I did not need this additional stress on an already tough day and might have gone with another location.

The people at this store are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. When U-Haul customer service royal messed up our order, the staff at this store took some of their own work time and their resources to make things right. Cannot recommend them enough!

The world will be a better place when someone decides to compete with them and puts them out of business.The reservations are mere ballparks. They changed mine from 9am-4pm to 4:30pm-2am with 15hs notice. When I called, they said we are sold out, you can take it or cancel, your choice. They also let me know *at pickup* that 2am was not a real option, because they dont have after-hours drop-off.Lots of hidden/unclear charges, etc.The guys at the Ballard location were nice and effective; not their fault

This is a very busy location! I rented a 10 truck yesterday, glad I had made a reservation online over two weeks ago. Dont walk in without a reserved vehicle, you may leave empty-handed. I thought the staff were very nice, keeping their cool under demanding conditions. Five stars for the staff, really.

Avoid U-Haul in general. Rarely is it a good experience. Yesterday I made a reservation online for pick-up this morning, but when I arrived, they didn’t actually have the truck I reserved and could only offer a more expensive and larger truck. They were able to transfer my reservation to the Interbay location, and I was able to get a vehicle there, but the whole mixup cost me an extra hour.

Great experience renting a Vehicle Trailer (Auto Transport) from them. Reed was very effective and knowledgeable. He hooked up the trailer to my truck very quickly and he showed me what I needed to know (which was also on a youtube video from u-haul).Overall a great experience towing on the trailer a Forester 2005 car. Heres the trailer in action. PS: The ferry fees were a lot more than I realized. Just so you know if you plan on towing and using the ferry (nothing to do with U-haul).Thanks Reed @U-Haul!

Hands down the best uhaul you can go to. The customer service is outstanding, the trucks are clean and well serviced, and the team even went out of their way to help me find my lost wallet when I returned the truck. Can’t recommend them enough!

The Ford cargo van is the van everyone needs. Hauls in every sense. Fits a ton of stuff, and is honestly pretty rad to drive. Surprisingly good gas mileage too - I drove 560 miles, tow ways over two mountain passes, and it used just under a tank and a half. If I had three thumbs, the Ford cargo van would get all three way up. Way easier and WAY more fun than towing a trailer when it has the same-ish room for cargo. Get the van - you won’t regret it! And the quote was exactly what I paid. Smoothest part of the least smooth move I have ever done.

I rented a truck with a trailer hitch, to pull a tent trailer, and it worked great. They were super friendly there, and had what I needed.I would take one star away from U-Haul national for goofing the online reservation and self serve option. I had a mild panic when they told me they didnt have a truck assigned to my reservation. Turns out they just needed my drivers license, but that could have been solved on the online side.In any case, the truck had a hitch, which was not adjustable, and a really cool dual plug wiring connection (flat-4 and round 7 point).

Been coming to this location for many years out of convenience even though every single time I have been given the worst customer service. I expect bad attitude when I come here.

Easy peasy..the guy that pulled my reservation up was friendly and the two guys that were there when I returned were also great...nice to see.

Rented a uhaul for 3 hours. Had to return it after hours, was told I couldn’t by the staff and they had zero explanation. Called corporate customer service who assured me I could actually return it after hours. When I went to return it the lock box for keys is taped up and a sign states due to crime in the area I can’t return the truck after hours. So had to drive all over town just to keep the truck at my house and be late for work the next day so I could return the truck, and then get charged for gas because it wasn’t exactly at the same fill line as when I picked it up. I will NEVER use uhaul again, and I will steer people away from using uhaul for alternative companies so they can avoid the mediocrity that is uhaul.

They claim they are able to fill propane during the hours in the attached picture. We have been five or six times over the last several months during those times, and they have not had anyone available to exchange or refill a propane tank. Its a mystery why we keep trying to use them.

There’s no one working in the store. What’s nice is that you can just go in and take whatever you want for free

Had a somewhat bad experience with this U-haul facility. Was given a van at 13/16 tank, returned at roughly the same amount (per instructions) was fuel charged for 4 gallons (18$). Bogus charge, contested it, placed on hold with customer service for 45 minutes...Charge was dismissed without issue and agent agreed it was bogus. Not sure what is going on with how theyre reading the gas meter, but renter beware. Overall was a hassle and will not be renting from them again.

Would be nice if they picked up the phone after canceling my reservation. I appreciate the waste of time and the inconvenience of having to change my moving plans. Awesome service.

They charged me almost triple based on the estimate they gave which I have documented. Went and talk to them 2 days later. Told them I turned the vehicle in an hour before closing yet still charged me for another day.They apologize and offer to refund me the total charges and then charge the actual amount. 2 weeks later now I have two 2 charges in my bank account. No refund. I can understand 1 mistake but 3!. Wasting my time and literally stealing my money. Shows the lack of integrity this place has. Beware!!.

Recently rented a van to pick up some furniture. Went in on a Saturday morning, so it was incredibly busy, but staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints!

About an hour before I was to pick up my truck, I got a call from U-Haul that it wouldnt be ready for another 2-1/2 hours....youve GOT to be kidding me!?! (was my not-so-gracious response). I asked to speak to a manager. Karim (I hope Im spelling the name right) got on the phone and explained that the truck had been returned late but that his team was cleaning it ferociously quickly and that he GUARANTEED it would be ready at the time I had originally booked it. And it WAS! Thank you, Karim! Excellent work delivering on your promise (and talking me off a ledge!)

This location has great service! We showed up to pick up a trailer and our light were not functioning properly. But a bearded black haired gentleman named Jeff (maybe?) Was able to do a replacement on the spot even with the regular customer flow. It was greatly appreciate, great service. We were able to make it out of town and home safely. Thanks you.

This is a general feedback on U-Haul, the reservation system is not great, I almost drove to the other location in Kenmore where I thought I booked the appointment for the hitch rack installation but got an email notice the night before.

I don’t care what customer service says, this location is not able to accept drop offs of trucks after hours. Also make sure you click the link they send you to remark any issues with the truck before you leave the lot. They forgot to mention that.

Been going here for years but gonna give up soon. I don’t know why they bother selling propane if they keep turning away business. Too busy or not today or feeling like you are bothering them. I get it if it is not worth it for them but then why bother advertising you sell propane if you or your staff don’t want to.

I always rent a truck from here. Convenient location. Great service, clean trucks. Reasonable prices. They don’t do after hours drop off anymore due to population issues. Little inconvenient. Also don’t do paper pretrip walk thrus. The link they send before the ride is very laggy. But that’s a corporate thing I guess. I will be back for all my box truck needs.

The staff went above and beyond. I was there to buy a box, but my car died in their parking lot and they offered to jump it and take a look at the engine. Can’t thank them enough for helping out and being so kind and patient.

Very dissapointed. Called to have a hitch installed. Told me it was in stock here. Set up appointment and drove an hour there to find that they did not have it in stock but could get it in about a month. They did say they called once but because they could not get me they didnt try again. I never got an email, text or voicemail. Also to be fair, if they could have actually done the work the price seemed fair. Definitely wont go back.

Best customer service Ive received from a uhaul. There were a ton of problems the morning we went in to pick up our truck on July 29. Someone just stole gas out of one of their trucks and stole a battery out of another truck overnight, so it was a chaotic morning there for us and them since both were the truck sizes we needed. I wish I could remember the names of the two gentlemen that helped us because they were great! They apologized, swapped batteries to get us moving, and gave us a discount for all of the trouble and delays. They really did the best they could, given the hectic morning, and my wife and I both noticed and appreciated it.

No one picks up the phone. Two encounters with a guy there to get propane - both times the guy was abrupt and could not care less about the customer’s needs.Propane price went up over 30% from one week to the next. When I asked how come, I was met with a shrug of the shoulders. Same uncaring as before… This strikes me as awfully close to price gouging during a pandemic.

Angie helped me out so much! We were missing the bar for the grand wardrobe and it didn’t look like any were in stock. Angie ran to the back and found one! Very helpful and very appreciated!

Ive rented a 10 truck from this location multiple times. Each time the staff has been friendly and efficient. Check-in has always been a breeze and after-hours drop off is a life-saver. There is no on-site parking, but Ive always been able to find street parking right next to the lot. Would definitely recommend.

You need a question on the people who interface with customers. The guy who helped us was FANTASTIC! AND he had a sense of humor to boot! So, HE is what made the overall experience excellent. Dont sell your employees short. Great experience.

This place was really understaffed, considering it was the end of the month (what I would assume would be a high volume time). When I arrived, half an hour late for my scheduled time (so they had plenty of time to be prepared), my reservation still wasn’t ready. The truck itself was available, but it didn’t have the hand truck, furniture pads, or furniture dolly I had paid for. So for my “contactless” pickup, I had to stand in line indoors twice. (Once to get the keys and again to get the equipment.)The most frustrating thing is that when I stood inside to get the keys (for several minutes, including a long stretch when there was no one even inside the building at the counter), the employee who was outside had the key, so we had to go back out and get it from her. Really unorganized, and again I think it was because they were seriously understaffed.Not sure how Covid has impacted them, but I used this place back in March too and had a much better experience then.

Don’t trust them. Antiquated systems, guarantees they’ll never follow, and an vehicle return system that absolutely sucks. Go for budget, Penske, or Home Depot for a better rate. Don’t work with these stores. Their marketing president Eddy Arenibas and Brett Grover will lie about your interaction to save their jobs. Don’t take the liability. Borrow your friend’s truck.

Called me at 9:30pm the night before my move to let me know they no longer had the trailer I reserved weeks ago. They rescheduled my move from morning to evening without my knowledge and changed the location to an alternate almost 1 hour away. I was still charged for the rental and had to dispute the charge with my credit card company.Not to mention, my move I’d been planning for weeks didn’t happen on time because it was too late to find an alternative. Save yourself time, money, and hassle, and avoid booking with Uhaul of Ballard because they have zero guarantee your reservation will be available at the time and location you think you’re reserving it for.

Everything was a bit worse than any other uhaul location Ive rented from. It wasnt great to realize Id been given a truck with one missing windshield wiper blade and another sub-par one while it was actively raining. The truck also had a kind of iffy shifter that made it hard to put into drive and overall the truck drove poorly and more loudly than any other uhaul Ive used. I returned the truck during business hours and a sign said to pull up and wait but no one ever came so I did the truck return online. Overall, the truck ran and could be filled with stuff so at the end of the day I got done what I needed.

They were friendly, knowledgeable, and taking precautions due to COVID. I was able to reserve a van ahead of time on the app and was grateful that they were open and that it was a simple process.

This is a great place to get propane tanks filled. Best price in town.

Ive rented trucks from this location numerous times for moving and never had a problem. Everyone has been very friendly each time. Even though I dont live as close as I used to I would go out of my way to rent from here again. There is also a gas station right down the street to fill up before returning. Just make sure you call a day or two before your scheduled pickup to confirm your reservation!

Remote controlled side mirrors would be an important safety improvement. I was unable to manually adjust the passenger side mirror without getting out of the truck and it was impossible to check positioning from the drivers seat except by trial and error.

Poorly trained employees dont know how to fill propane tanks or read certified tank labels from a place they recommend.... Continuous problems.

They sell propane, but refused to fill my bottle because it was under 5 gallons. Unfortunately this is the only size bottle that fits on my boat and there was nowhere else in Ballard that was open. I had to ride a Lime bike here from Shilshole with the bottle. So basically I have no way to cook and have to cancel my weekend on the boat and go home. F these guys.

The person at the counter was incredibly helpful, efficient, and kind. I hadnt had great experiences before with a uhaul pick-up, but here is was super easy and everyone was kind and expeditious.

U-haul cancelled our reservation on accident, which delayed us getting a trailer by 24 hours. The general manager was really trying to help but the other employees at this location were either too incompetent to help or just not interested.

Wanted propane. Only one person working said it would be over a half hour wait as she had to clean 3 more trucks and I should find somewhere else to get it. Great I wont have any problem spending my hard earned money elsewhere and never come back there again.

This is the first time I have used an U-Haul van. The staffs, especially Jordan, are super helpful as I have no experience in the process, as well as on usage of the van.I am a bit late (less than 15 minutes) when I returned the van, but they told me it is fine.I will definitely go there again!

I am very unsatisfied with this purchase for the second time, uhaul has overcharged me. And then when I was talking to a representative online, I was told the same information on repeat and did not answer any of my questions. The location itself was friendly and clean, however your online services are completely useless, and have once again screwed me over!

Terrible, terrible customer experience! I should have read the bad reviews for this place before booking.Joey, one of their employees, snatched the key of a truck that I booked online while I was sitting on the driver seat and the truck turned on. He quickly walked back to the office without giving me any explanation. I showed him that Uhaul charged me for the truck. He just said “that’s not your truck” and canceled my reservation leaving me with no alternative. I had no choice but to leave. Our moving day was ruined and we lost money since we had to cancel our plans last minute. I later escalated this issue. Renea, the manager, gave a very poor explanation: “Due to that customer being 15 min late, you were able to do an online check in for that truck which was caused by a bug in our system.” This doesn’t make sense since I booked the truck 2 weeks earlier. Looking to at least get $50 back as part of their promise guarantee, they have ignored all of my contacts. I am very disappointed by this entire experience. I really hope no one ever goes through this.

Its hard to get excited about a U-Haul, but this place is good for what you need. Ive rented moving gear and Ive filled propane tanks. Both of these went smoothly and quickly. What more can we ask?

We had a trailer hitch installed on our 12-yr old Prius. The service was great. Everything was done on time and as agreed upon. We are happy customers.

Sorry but what a hassle to deal with these guys........ Also they gouge you for mileage on the weekends.My reservation was transferred to SeaTac from Ballard somehow, set to the wrong truck, AND THEN CANCELLED without any notification.So we were LUCKY when we arrived that they had something similar.Also, account setup for the second reservation (my original was cancelled with no notification) was done wrong! We couldnt do the self check in after hours because they typed in the wrong email address, so I had to wake up at 7AM to call because of their mistake, after spending the entire day moving yesterday. Never had such a hassle with U-Haul in 5 years of renting yearly.Right now were HOPING they dont tack on extra fees since were not there, and HOPING we get an email confirmation. But I dont have faith in either of those things with these guys...

The shift lead on duty 12/12/17 lied about not being able to accept cash truck deposits. He said (and VERY rudely I might add, almost yelling) that his manager said its U-Haul policy that no stores in Seattle take cash deposits anymore. I thanked him, walked outside and called the Rainier Valley location, who was happy to work with me, cash deposit and all; the boxes there were 20% cheaper anyway. Therefore, these guys are liars that just didnt want to get off their asses. I was late to work because of the extra travel involved, but it was worth it to not have to work with this outlet. I would never recommend this location under any circumstances.

Hitch Installation --Terrible service and extremely unreliable. Save yourself time and trouble and go elsewhere. My appointment for installing a hitch was postponed and rescheduled several times during last 3 weeks. Once just 10min before, so I lost 1 hour to go there and back. Its impossible to contact the office. Nobody returns calls for 2-3 days. Assistants in an info line just sent me to another assistant, who reconnected me to yet another assistant without giving me any answers. Save yourself time and trouble and go elsewhere.

What an awful person Lynda Price is. Horrible customer service, attitude, tone of voice, pushiness. I cant believe she has any job at all, let alone a manager of this place. Came to get propane tanks filled, and asked her which way shed like me to pull my van in. She jumped on me and told me that it was her lot and I should just let her handle things. It escalated from there, with her telling me that I should go elsewhere.And I will. I recommend the same for all.

Brandon is very nice and helped me load heavy box bundles into my car. I do think maybe there should be a second worker this time of the year (summer moving season), though; there was a long line.

Pretty lousy customer service experience. I was charged for 65 miles for a 10 mile trip. I called to complain and Lynda Price apologized and assured me they made a mistake and she would fix it. A month later the charge was still not corrected and when I called again Lynda was rude and dismissive. I eventually did get another apology and a refund (hence the extra star) but only after she checked and saw I was telling the truth. These folks could really stand to step up their game.

One of the few Uhaul centers that answer their phone and not let it roll over to call center. Brandon does a fine job managing his store properly.

If I could give them anything less than a 1 star I would. This UHaul is a scam, they over charge you and dont take your complaints seriously. I drove to pickup some furniture and drop it off in a garage in central district which took less than an hour and half and they charged me $273 dollars! They lied and said I drove upwards to 150 miles, how can one drive that many miles in under 2 hours is beyond me. BEWARE and choose a different place for you next moving needs before you get scammed like I did!!

Huge selection of stuff to rent, when I was there, there was only one person working. I couldnt get what I needed at the time. Properly staffed, is bet its a great store.

Poor customer service. Not by the employees there. They were nice enough. But by the management. I got a huge charge and contacted the contact info provide and they never responded. I guess I am just eating that cost. I would not return to this location.

Showed up 15 minutes early to make sure I would have my truck for the full 4 hours I paid for. Wow was I in for a surprise. I waited in line for 40 minutes as the ONE person behind the counter rushed around helping everyone. Let me repeat that, on a Saturday morning, near the end of the month there was 1 person working. I will never be giving uhaul my business again after this frustrating experience.

This is a great U-Haul. The employees have been very courteous the couple times Ive rented from them, and lighthearted about their neverending stream of broken side mirrors people keep bringing back.

We reserved a utility trailer to be picked up this evening and used for four days. My husband drove across town to get there and was told that all of the utility trailers had been rented. We had a confirmed reservation, and all the person at the rental place could do was shrug and say its close to the weekend and someone shoulda called you. How can a confirmed reservation (held w a credit card) not be honored (vs. renting to someone who showed up without a reservation? Bad business practice.

Truck was in great condition, made the move easy--and it only ended up costing me $15 dollars after the $20 gas-refill credit.

The employees here are extremely kind and helpful. They went out of their way to help me with my reservation.

I spent an hour and twenty minutes at this location to pickup and dropoff a simple trailer. I even attached the thing myself because there was just one employee with 7-8 people in line when I arrived. When I returned the next morning there were 4-5 people waiting in line, phone ringing off the hook, and again just one person behind the counter. When I asked the GM Brandon how long it should take to pickup and dropoff a trailer he said about ten minutes. He didnt seem too impressed when I said it had taken almost an hour and a half of my time and merrily charged me full price before sending me on my way.Fair warning youll be late to whatever you have to do any day you make the mistake of renting here- Almost 1.5 hours to rent simple trailer (does it take a fortnight to rent a truck?).

Test stats for usually having what you needed by way of equipment, but service is so I can barely be bothered its almost an art form. Two guys behind the counter looking at paper ignoring the only customer in the store stand in front of them. No acknowledgement, not even a glance. It was so apparent they could care less. Also, didnt pay any attention to the reservation info.

First time here. Made an appt for 4:30 to have a towing hitch installed, showed up and checked in, and the guy behind the desk said he needed to make a phone call. I asked if it was ok for me to park in the driveway, guy says yes. So I go out to my car and wait.....for 30 minutes, while other UHaul employees are going in and out right in front of my car, helping other customers who arrived AFTER me and who are waiting in their cars next to me. Wondering what is happening and if this phone call has to be a collect call to Nairobi or something, I come back in and the guy is like, Oh, we didnt know where you went. Really? Its raining, Im nowhere in your lobby, I just told you my car is parked right in your driveway, and you cant guess where I went? Then he says the hitch specialist cant be there until at least 6, which is when my vehicle was supposed to be almost finished. Appointment that should have started at 4:30 wont begin until at least 6. They invited me to just come back tomorrow, but that is not possible. Vaporized my evening plans.

I waited in line 20 minutes to ask if they had any medium boxes while they spoke on the phone. Finally they told me they had none because it was their busy season and the end of the month. I said I had never seen a U-Haul run out of boxes before and it was baffling they didnt increase their stock with demand.
