Enjoyable city park with old artifacts. when I was there the museum itself was closed, but the grounds were open. As everywhere in Sedona, amazing mountain views
I lived here for 4 years, and we just went. I wish that we went earlier. Very informative.
Loved this place! I grew up on a fruit farm and loved seeing the orchard equipment. And there are plenty of other things to see as well. The hostesses were kind and informative. Take a few minutes and enjoy this museum!
We were there for a very small outdoor wedding, so we could only peek in the windows. It looked like a fun little museum. The setting was gorgeous with peach and apple trees, a hiking trail and a spectacula r view o f the surrounding red rocks. It
Im a native to Az and went hear when nobody was around. I found it peaceful and a beautiful place to visit. Its just off Jordan rd yull miss the entrance if you blink, I went in most of the bildings they are filled with historical farming equipment, with lots of info to read on them! The paths are also lined with farming equipment. There were lots of movies made back in the day there. They had a school house moved form another location and rebuilt there, its filled with info on some of the movies it was in. There is a John Wayne cutout u can pop your head into and snap a pic with☆ The surrounding mountains and lushTerrain make this place seem like its own little world! I would suggest families, couples, and singles to visit this little historical museum oh and theres paths you can walk on just hidden below the multiple wooden sighn post when u first drive in!
It was an interesting account of an early farm family in Sedona. So much history. I really enjoyed it.
Met the founder when we stopped to ask about parking. Then went on short hike. Interesting place.
Wonderful trip into the past. Payment is on the honor system so please stop by the house to pay the $7 and ask questions. Part of this site is open air and the rest is the homestead with a wonderful collection.
Cute place, were having an arts n crafts show which was awesome
Nice staff. The lady at the front desk was welcoming and gave a lot of great information. Very interesting place to visit.
Beautiful hidden gem!! A great place to walk around, enjoy the Sedona mountains, and learn some history!! This place was perfect for my daughters graduation pictures!! Has that old rustic feel plus the great mountains all around!! Cute hiking trail right next door as well!! Kept very clean and great staff!! They do ask for donations. It was a pleasure to give!! Walk at yr own pace and take it in. They also offer a guided tour, but do to COVID, not available while we were there. Enjoy!!
Pretty views. Interesting history information.
Love to bring visitors. I noticed many updates to the displays since I was last here. Making huge progress in many areas. Much appreciate seeing the olden ways of bygone days.
Volunteers are so nice and knowledgeable in the history and in regards any questions you may have. Had a great time with my kiddos here, its a small museum with alot of items to see and history behind all of it.Unfortunately video and pictures are not allowed inside the museum but still a good place to visit.
Interesting. Staff was super friendly. Cutesy tourist stop.
I am so happy I went!! A must see if u love old Westerns and the decor/architecture of the 30s...and John wayne
A very historical place to visit. Simply wonderful and enjoyable.A must see place.
Step back into time! Lovingly maintained farmhouse occupied by the Jordan family into the mid-1900s impressively showcases Sedona history and culture. I loved its ”modern” kitchen boasting an electric stove, killler custom cabinetry, and spectacular views of nearby bluffs…purposely planned by the innovative woman who designed her family home. The family’s possessions remain much as they did when the Jordans lived in the home. Additional indoor spaces showcase a one-room schoolhouse, cowboy artists, and western artifacts. Outdoor structures demonstrate how the family maintained their orchard business.Movie buffs: don’t leave without seeing the old-timey telegraph building that was moved to the site after being used in the John Wayne film “Angel and the Bad Man.”
Excellent exhibits lots of information.
An amazing about of history crammed into a small museum
Super nice to see the History.
Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable about the history of the buildings and grounds.Special needs friendly.
Excellent place to see the beginnings of a nice city. And it wasnt a piece of cake back then!
Great place to spend a few hours learning about Sedonas history. Nice old antiques.
Good amount of history
Very interesting place! Gives such perspective of what it was like for the homestead families in this beautiful place!
Happened to come in on the day of craft show.
Cute little museum, its actually a house from an original family from the area. Everything is authentic and tells a great story about how the town of Sedona came to be. Visit and support!
Great little museum. Have some family living style around 1930. Gift shop is pretty nice.
The vibe was cold. Seemed overpriced so didnt pay to tour the inside. walk the grounds for a minute. The bathroom was clean.
Wonderful experience and grounds! Very interesting history!
Visited because it was raining, and were so pleased we did! The volunteers were great, and there is a lot to see. The audio guide was very well produced too. Highly recommended, whatever the weather!
Well run. Contains many artifacts of original homesteaders in Sedona.
We saw it on Sedona Arizona channel and went to go check it out and it was very nice the staff was very pleasant and very informative and I would recommend it to folks I know are coming to Sedona thank you
Nice to learn more of about Sedona history. No military discount at this place.
For $7 you can check out the museum that was once the homestead of some founders of Sedona. For $3 more you can do the audio tour, and honestly I recommend it. They have stops in each room and at all of the out buildings for the audio tour. The staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. The gift shop is small and the prices are about what youd expect. If youre visiting Sedona and want a break from all the craziness and crowds, this is the place to check out for a few hours.
Wonderful museum of local history. Staff was kind and engaging. Short walk from uptown and very reasonable at $7 a person
Excellent this time! I have been to the museum before. Christmas in the Park made this time very special for me and my sister. The women singing were wonderful!
Great history of original settlers. They are continuing to develop new items to display for guests. Friendly, helpful and upbeat volunteers!
Great wine and cheese selection😊⛄
Beautiful staff. I loved the hospitality by the ladies who were staffing there on 9/10/2017. Amazing ambience and fantastic landscape. The scenery around is mesmerizing. Decent, isolated and calm place. I had been there with my family and all of them enjoyed. The way things are preserved tells me how respectful the whole set up there is to the Jordan family. Id certainly go visit this place whenever possible.
We wanted to learn a little bit about the history of the area, and the volunteers and exhibits certainly have their facts straight. The stories and the photos of the first settlers were interesting and seeing the cabin of one of the first families brought everything into perspective. The volunteers are very enthusiastic and answered all of our questions. We also had an opportunity to go into the barn where the fire truck is stored, although there were no volunteers in there to explain some of the other equipment and tools in there. It was a very informative and eye-opening experience.
Love this place. Will definitely return when the audio tour is available.
Awesome place
If youve ever wondered how Sedona Az came to be, you must visit this museum. The focus is on the earliest settlers, with a touch of Hollywood westerns filmed in the area.
I was very happy I decided to visit this museum. The idea of Sedona has been commercialized and warped from its original, small-town, western settlement roots. It was wonderful to see the history of hard-working pioneers preserved here.
Such a peaceful and happy place. A very low key museum, but so many things to offer. It will take about 1 hour to complete the tour. It tells about how people who came, settled in Sedona, making it what it is today. How those people lived and how they grew. A must visit when you visit Sedona.
Great place to visit! For some reason my previous review gave it only 1 star and it should have been 5 stars. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. You could take your time enjoying each exhibit!
Stopped by this museum to take a break and since we home school our kids this was prefect. Ton of history to teach the kids and us adults! We had a great time.
One of the first homesteads in the Sedona area-this museum does a terrific job telling the story of the home, its residents, and the lifestyle back in the day. Wander thru the grounds with an audio guide and enjoy some spectacular scenery while you get educated on Arizona and Sedonas past. They even have a little gift shop. This place is a treat to visit.
We love history. This had cool stuff
Worth a visit
Loved this museum! ♡
Very interesting place. Well documented historical timeline of events. Clear photos. Lots of artifacts dating back to the 1880s.
Was fun seeing the telegraph office, that was in the movie Angel and the Badman with John Wayne right here in Sedona. Love that movie!
It takes about a hour, a must see
This place is excellent to learn about the history of Sedona. The site is well kept with quite a bit to see and read. The staff is absolutely kind and very informative. A must visit for those who are visiting Sedona, AZ.
This is a great place to take photos and buy gifts at very reasonable prices. A must see if you like history and like to buy rocks and minerals.great VORTEX being there.
Yes we were there an d really were pleased we were able to take time to visit, interesting information about the areas past and present, very helpful staff. Assisted with entry location for better handicap accessible entry location to building, I was able to enter with my walker an d observe many of the objects displays available. Staff were very helpful with ideas to be of help reading, photographing items, very nice clean areas to be able to visit.
Enjoyable, filled with historical stories and memorabilia. Docents were friendly and knowledgeable. Walking tour was excellent and allowed us to tour at our own pace. Highly recommend, especially for first time visitors!
Great Museum. My Brother-in-Law was a little skeptical about going to Sedona, but imagine to his surprise that this place was where John Wayne made a great deal of his movies. I haven’t seen my brother-in-law this happy in years.
Great history dated back 1927
Museum is always right.
Great representation of local history. Perfect rain day adventure.
A must if you are interested in the history of Sedona! This very well cared for museum is full of history and mementos from Sedona’s past. The staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. A great glimpse into the lives of those who settled the area!
Surprising amount of information to get through and a neat little window to the past. Good prices in the gift shop, kind stewards, and I was surprised they had a scavenger hunt/bingo for the kids. Be sure to listen to the stories the statue tells you. If youre interested in local history its a must!
Really informative well recommended
Nice presentation. Lots of great info, pictures, equipment. Nice gift shop. We learned a lot.
Really cool place. The people are so nice and knowledgeable. Definitely stop by if you are uin the area
Great way to learn about sedona and it has a small hiking trail near/behind the mail house
I love museums like this that help me get a feel for the place I am visiting -- the people who came before, how the town got started, and all that. This place is like a fun little trip back in time... and its a great place to escape hot or rainy weather.
Great museum and gift store
Interesting. Outside buildings are better than the main building. GoodMovie stories. Kitchen was uncomfortable as volunteers were eating. Overall good place to go.
I love museums that are actual homes of people and their history. Very educational for my girls and they put their phone down and went crazy in the barn where they dressed up like 1900 century people and cowboys. If you love history youll love this beautiful place!
Good place to visit to learn the history if Sedona and its famous visitors and residents.
Its so epic... that we got married there in 2016 and visit a couple times per year.
We did the audio tour and enjoyed every minute of it! We learned a lot about the area and the people that settled it. The volunteer at the door even told us more stories that were not part of the tour. All of the volunteers were so kind and willing to share their knowledge of the homestead.
Beautifully researched and cared for museum. Worthy of anyones time to visit.
Beautiful views and a museum providing background on the history of Sedona. The antique farm equipment on display is wonderful. The museum offers insight into life in Sedona from the early days.
Love this place glad its still here after all these years
A fun little museum showing how people lived during the early years of Sedona.
