I went there to rent a viloin and another customer was already waiting ahead of me. There was only 1 employee and after he helped a customer on phone, he waited on the customer ahead of me. Point is I waited 45min in there. You cant run a successful business w only 1 employee doing everything. I understand covid has slowed businesses down but to have a business that differs from other competitors, process should be more efficient and def atleast 2 employees.
They have a problem with double booking. Try another location or different establishment.
Great customer service. Friendly knowledgeable staff
Great local music store. Walked right over to greet and help me find things. Decent variety of instruments, equipment, and books.I purchased a guitar strap, tuner, cables, and books.
My son and I love coming to Music & Arts in Severna Park. From our first visit everyone was very welcoming, kind, helpful and knowledgeable about helping an aspiring musician become even more excited about learning to play an instrument. Each time we come to Music & Arts in Severna Park we are greeted with welcoming smiles from the staff no matter how busy they are with other tasks and customers. The manager at Music & Arts in Severna Park, Molly is a true gem. My son is particularly enamored by Molly and her genuine kindness and caring attitude towards his newly found interest in playing the guitar and music in general! After each fun guitar lesson with Mr. Justin at Music & Arts in Severna Park she takes the time to ask him how the lesson went and maybe even show her something hes learned. Shes also happily pointed out different variety of instruments and what they are to both of us helping to further foster his curiosity and love for music. My son is always excited to go to Music and Arts in Severna Park to see Molly and learn his new notes from Mr. Justin. I highly recommend them to any aspiring musician, with their knowledge, wide variety of instruments and knowledge, Music & Arts in Severna Park cant be beat!
Weve had a very positive experience with the Severna Park Music and Arts store. Most of the employees are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They helped us find an appropriate, reasonably priced instrument for our son when we made the decision to but after renting. Our son also takes lessons in the store with a wonderful teacher. I would recommend this sure to others.
I went into Music & Arts in Severna Park on Monday, still pondering whether to invest in a digital piano. Its three days later, and I now have my new piano set up and ready to play :) Sue, Molly and Shannon were all incredibly helpful, friendly, and responsive to all my questions and concerns, even bringing out and setting up a model I wanted to try out before finalizing my decision. Since the piano I settled on wasnt in stock at their location, they called around and found one for me. Bottom line, were it not for these women, Id still be pondering... I couldnt be happier~
Every time I go into the Severna Park Music and Arts everyone on the staff is extremely kind and helpful. The team members have a ton of knowledge about instruments and accessories and everything you can imagine! The last time I went in I was helped by Mike and he was phenomenal. He was so nice and kind and fantastic to work with. I highly recommend his services to anyone who comes in! He has a ton of knowledge and is the best addition to the team.
The only reason they are getting two stars is because the staff is very friendly. On black Friday I ordered a new piano as a Christmas gift for someone. Two weeks later when it hadnt been shipped yet I called back and was told Yamaha no longer makes that model and my order had been cancelled (without being called). No biggie. Stuff happens. I placed a new order for a better model. Another week later and it hadnt shipped so I call again. Their website says it is in stock and ready to ship. They told me I wouldnt receive it until Feb. So, I had to reorder from Amazon, losing the discount from black Friday. This companys incompetence cost me $300 over what I originally paid ($1500). I definitely will never shop with music and arts again or their parent company guitar center.Edit- they responded to this review and asked me to email them so they could try to make this right. After waiting weeks they never responded so now they get a 1 star.
My son decided he wanted to play the violin this year. I went into this location over the weekend and was immediately asked what I would be renting. I had fully decided that I would not be renting. I have numerous monthly payments already and I was not willing to add another one to my list. I was very aware of music and arts rental program...it sounds like a great deal but like I said if Im not looking for another monthly payment, then Im not going to be talked into one no matter what the sales associate says. I did a lot of research on violins plus contacted my sons violin teacher to talk about good ones to buy in my price range. She gave me some brands, I found them online on music and arts website. She was fully aware of the violin that I would be purchasing and she said it was a great idea and great deal for a 3rd grader just starting out.So fast forward to my trip to music and arts. When I told the sales associate, Michael that I would not be spending $800 on a violin, he literally huffed and puffed. Giving me the whole story that I wont be paying that if I decide to return it at the end of the year. Okay. But he already knew I didnt want a monthly payment. He then starts talking about how he plays the violin and Im basically buying my son trash if I dont spend $800. He was extremely rude (in front of my children) and when I told him I couldnt afford another monthly payment, made me seem like lower class trash...which I am not, I just like to limit my monthly bills. Which is my business and should have been left at that. This all went on for a good 30 minutes. When I realized that he wasnt going to sell me what I wanted, I went to the front desk and realized that they dont sell anything under $500 Which wound up being used. So I did go home and order what was needed, but shouldnt a music store carry a better price range of instruments?Bottom line...if renting an instrument is what you want to do, then sure its a great deal. But thats not what I walked in there to do and my sales associate could not understand that. I have many people in my family that work sales and this is not how it works. Its all a money maker for music and arts. No care goes towards the customer.
Molly and the staff at Music and Arts are extremely kind, knowledgeable and helpful! I highly recommend this business. The care and concern for our music and instrument needs is spectacular!
Were frequent customers of this location and have had a great experience! All of the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Love the private lessons as well!
All of our experiences have been great.. Weve purchased sheet music there several times and had two different instruments repaired/serviced, and other purchases... The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Sorry to see others have had problems with rentals and such..... If we ever rent Ill be sure to post an update.
When I walked in, I was greatted right away. Molly was so amazing and knew her information well. She helped me out so much! Thank you every one! This is the best music store I have found since Ive been here. They have wonderful prices on guitars, bows for violins, and great quality string and rozen! I felt so welcomed and none judged. I will be coming back and for lessons as well.
Dale and Molly are friendly and very helpful at the front desk. Zeke is a wonderful guitar instructor and we have been very pleased with Music and Arts!!
Scott was wonderful picking out a new guitar for a first timer. Didnt try to sell me on a more expensive piece and was very kind.
I have been renting an instrument for the last 2 years and have over $1400 invested in this, i turned in the instrument since june and i have been trying to use my credit for another instrument, however they are telling me what instrument i could get and it is not an instrument my son wants they are only trying to get rid of certain pieces, and currently i am still paying it is being debited from my credit card i will be coming down there with a few friends to picket in front of their store until they honor my credit for an instrument my son can use.
I ordered a violin bow from them back in March, after a couple weeks of not receiving a call from them that it had come in, I called to see what was going on and there had been a mistake and the order hadnt gone through. At that point I was really understanding, its not that big of a deal, mistakes happen all the time. So then I ordered another one and now its been a full month since I ordered the second one and UPS lost the package. They had me go through UPS and file a claim. Even though its been almost a full month since the package was last seen, Music and Arts will not give me my money back until UPS declares it lost, which is a two week process (8 business days). Its been two months now since I originally ordered this violin bow and honestly I just want my money back so I can get a bow somewhere else. The store is fine if youre purchasing things within the store itself but, for the love of god, do not order anything through them!
Excellent customer service!Steve measured my grandkid and selected the right size instrument and suggested the items needed to and accessories as well as the music book. Thanks
Had an absolutely terrible experience with Larry Rodbell. He literally insulted children... the ones he was supposed to be teaching. Go elsewhere for lessons
Sue was very helpful as well as the remaining staff.I would highly recommend this place.
It’s fine, went there for violin lessons and the associates are niceGot materials needed, when it wasn’t there I could ask for them to order it or just find it online
They always have what I need, very polite as well.
This all started when my daughter was in 4th grade. We rented a flute, and everything was fine. $19.99 for the first three months, plus the damage coverage for $6 and some change. After that, the price went up to 28.99 a month plus damage coverage. Well fast forward to last year. My daughter no longer plays the flute, but now my son, a 3rd grader wants to play the violin. M&A center kept reminding us about this credit you build as you rent. Little did i know, that was just bait. Were looking at violins, and were told that we are able to purchase a new one, using the store credit we built up, and it would be at a very reduced price. Unfortunately, that violin became out of stock. And since this was out of stock, if we wanted to rent a violin, we would have to rent one of a higher value. Thats fine. My son wants to play the violin, so we will get him a violin. It just seems too convenient that the student level violin, at a place that rents, student level instruments, magically disappeared. Now that he is in 4th grade, he has the option to play in the standard band. NOW he wants to play the drums, which requires a bell drum kit. Great, well just return the violin, use the credit, and purchase the bell drum kit. That would make too much sense. Apparently, we had too much credit, and the bell kit was not valuable enough to compensate. we could order a trumpet, or a bass, blah blah blah. You can purchase the violin for $87. ($87 after 30% off the original price, and using close to $800 in rental credit)We checked online, and it appears that the bell drum kit was around $249. So being semi practical people, we figure, lets buy the $87 violin (we have a 3rd child who might need one, or we could just sell it to recoup some losses), and well also buy the bell drum kit.My wife walks into the M&A center to do just that. After being told this is impossible, the sales associate now tells my wife, we can purchase a higher end bell drum kit, and they would apply the credit towards that. Apparently this bell drum kit costs 899, but youll get 30% off, and we can use your credit. Now, heres the kicker, we only ended up paying $21.20 out the door. They charged us $620 (not sure how that math works, should have been $629.30), and applied $600 in credit (not including tax (1.20)). I guess we lost the rest rental credit (close to $200)Now I would be perfectly fine with that, EXCEPT the fact that SAME Pearl percussion starter kit is $250 at guitar center. M&A has it listed for about $357. Are you FING kidding me, you just charged me $600+ for something that costs $250 down the street? You told us you could not help us, then do help us by charging an outrageous amount.Over the last few years, weve spent $1200+ on rentals. All instruments that were rented to us like new (used), and returned in the same condition. All instruments, that could be recirculated back into the rental market, and used to make money (which Im sure they are). When we come in to cash in a whole $350 of the almost $800 in credit, you mark the price up. There is no benefit to this company. There is no reason to buy in to this program. There is no reason to hold out for the credit. I could compare it to catching a unicorn, and selling its tears. Its not going to happen. This is terrible business practice. I will never patronize this business again. I would rather try to eat that percussion kit than buy anything from Music and Arts again. I suggest, that if you read all the way to the bottom, you take your business to Bills Music (in Catonsville), or Chuck Levins Washington Music center (Wheaton, MD), like I should have in the beginning.
A decent music store for its size but I normally go to a larger store by default unless I am looking for something very basic. Still, the staff is very friendly.
One of the worse businesses I have ever encountered. Music teacher canceled lessons at last minute or didnt show up. When we brought up our concerns with management, they called us liars. Take your business elsewhere!
Friendly Service
