In 2019 I contacted Brightview Builders and Mark to re-do our homes siding. Mark was great and came out to do multiple quotes, adjustments and talked us through options within our budget. We landed on a horizontal Certainteed vinyl siding with the widest possible reveal that we could have and a board and batten accent on the peak of our house (wed originally wanted to do a vinyl cedar shake, but this was not available in the color we selected). We paid our deposit and waited to be scheduled (a few weeks, which was great). We were surprised when we were out of town to get a call from the project lead that he was onsite asking us a question-- we had not been told that we were scheduled or that anyone would be arriving that day. Not a big deal-- we assumed just a miscommunication. My husband arrived home later that day and the work was well under way-- the crew was super nice. Our job only took a few days and overall we loved the look and it was a dramatic transformation from t1-11 siding that had been rotting off of the house to the new vinyl. We had a few concerns: there were plates behind our exterior lights that did not match (one white, one off white), there were a few boxes (water spigot comes to mind) that had to be painted to color match (no big deal). My other concerns were that the caulk used on the siding (blue) dripped all over our white accent trim and wasnt taken care of and here is the doozy: our board and batten looked nothing like what we anticipated, instead of board and batten we got vertical vinyl siding. It literally looks like someone took our house siding and flipped it to go perpendicular to the rest of the siding. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I reached out to Mark who told me that the board and batten didnt exist for the color selection that wed chosen and that the vertical siding was what was available. We paid extra for this accent section and I can understand if something isnt available (the vinyl shake was not), but as customers we expected that our vision was going to be executed, if there was a deviation from that we just would have liked the opportunity to understand the difference so that we could make an educated decision (we definitely would not have elected to pursue this accent). I asked about remedies and was told that if we wanted to correct it wed need to pay additionally to replace the section. In other words: no solution but it would be treated like a new job.The reason Im writing this review two years later is because I chalked up the initial disappointment around the accent siding as not properly researching what was plainly listed on my proposal (whether it was what I expected, communicated or not). Mark was great to work with and we truly enjoyed the experience and appreciated his patience with our many changes. But we also had a window replaced during this project, a standard window in a bathroom was replaced with a half window. Now that were renovating the bathroom we have found that the window was not properly installed. It wasnt centered in the existing window space and is only secured on one side meaning well have a different reveal on each side on the interior. The window was installed on the first day of the project when my husband and I were not there to supervise.Overall again, I really liked working with Mark and I was very impressed with his responsiveness, but we definitely have some buyers remorse related to the accent siding and the shoddy installation of the window.
Do you want a salesman or a craftsman?Ill be honest, my wife was concerned with Brightview at first. Mark didnt really sell the job, he took some measurements, not much of a talker. He went straight for measurements. Thats the mark of a technical person, not a salesman. We got 2 new doors. They look great. They seal. Good care was taken to clean up and work around my kids.
If youre looking for siding, stop searching. These are the hands you want to be in. Nothing but class & professionalism from top to bottom from Mark, Nicholas & their team. Beautiful work that was done quickly & a price that beat the rest of the competition. Thank you, Mark!
We used Brightview to install new hardie siding on the gables of our home in Severna Park. Mark and the superintendent Darrell were great to work with. They were competitively priced, timely and followed up with replacing a piece of siding for me that no longer needed a hole in it for a AC condensate line. Thanks guys!
I used Brightview to install Certainteed siding on my home and repair the roof on my addition. I love Mark and his crew. They did excellent work, and were professional, efficient and fast. I absolutely recommend them!
