We drove an hour to look at a modular, we get there at 10:45 (Saturday hours are 9-5) the gate is locked and no one there.. so we get out and walk around a little, 11:15 were about to leave and the salesman pulls up, opens gate and the building. Ok only 2 hours and 15 minutes late, we get keys and walk around and look in several units, go in and tell him were down sizing from our current 4000 sq ft house and are considering a modular to be debt free, he tells us the lead time to get a unit and then asks if we want to do an application or what do we want from him.. I understand people have bad days and are busy but he was just irritated to be there or talk to us I guess. I almost never give a 1 star review, but this was a terrible experience for a national business.

So I have lived in the breeze for over a year now. Scott was our sales rep. He let us pick the colors of the outside and the shutters on the house. He also let us pick the brick overlay for the masonry underpinning. Well as they started to put the house together we noticed them putting vinyl underpinning on the house! I was livid at this moment. We called scott immediately! He told us that they had messed up and put vinyl on our contract. Well we proceeded to ask if they were gonna correct the mistake. He said because you signed the contract we cant do anything about it... So now at this point Im so heated! We should have went to court and fought it and Im still debating on it. But I know with no doubt that they purposely messed our contract up so we would be stuck with high payments and never being able to refinance because we dont have a permanent foundation! So now we are gonna have to pay out of pocket to get out from under them!! They screwed us. I have also had multiple problems with trimming, doors, cabinets, drawers, faucets, floors, etc. Its just falling apart and we have only had it for a year and a half! I would not recommend buying from Claytons! I would not recommend buying a mobile home period! GO BUY A STICK BUILT HOUSE! we plan on selling this place and moving on with our lives! Being in debt a quarter million is ridiculous for a trailer thats not even worth 50 thousand dollars!!!!

Don’t go to this location. Hours are posted until 6pm; however, a VERY RUDE “salesperson” will avert your coming in at 4:30pm because “they have things to do and are closing in 15 minutes.” Not a great way to run a business. Unprofessional. Unmasked. Downright hateful. Would suggest Oakland Homes as an alternative.

Allen Stevens is a poor excuse for a salesman! I have been in contact with Mr. Stevens for a few weeks now on getting me an estimate, when Mr. Stevens got back with me I told him thank you for your time but you are about $20,000 higher but thanks for your time then the next day I received a phone call from Mr. Stevens I informed him through email I was at work and couldnt take his call and he them started to send me emails saying I was wrong no way he was that much over even after I told him I had itemized estimates and that was a ballpark he then called me more than 10 times from different numbers back to back even though I had told him I was at work. This is just poor way to do business and somewhat childish.

We were interested in looking at the Clayton Homes available off-frame modular floor plans, so, we made an appointment to do so with Eddie. Eddie was unavailable to be at the appointment so he scheduled us with another salesman (Scott). We traveled from thirty minutes away to come to this location. Ten minutes prior, we called and made Scott aware that we were going to be late a few minutes late. We arrived eight minutes late for our appointment. Scott was busy and we were told we would have to wait for him. Thirty minutes later, still no salesman. Whats the point in having an appointment if no one can accommodates you ?

We scheduled a meeting on our land for 12pm, 12:30 rolled around and had not heard from our sales person Daniel, sent him a message and received back that he was still busy at the office (no phone call to let us know) we have now waisted 2.5 hours of our day driving to our land and waiting on him to show. I am so frustrated I will no longer be dealing with the Shelby location. Thanks but no thanks, they obviously don’t have time for existing customers they only try to help new customers.

Clayton homes in shelby was like the worse experience I had with buying a home. Scott was my salesman and Jason was a manager that alway took Scotts side, when me and my husband complained about things that wasnt right. These people sit my house the wrong way. And try to make it like they told me it have to be that way. If that was so why did we go mark the way we wanted it to sit. I clearly dont understand. Why I have to live in a house that Im paying for that Im not happy with because yall made a mistake. And they didnt fix half of the stuff that was going on with this house either. Now my warranty is up I guess I have to do it myslf.

UPDATE TO ADD: The original post below was never handled by Clayton Homes of Shelby. Several months ago, after a heavy rain, we were sitting on the couch and water started dripping onto the couch from the window! We reached out via email to the owner of Clayton Homes at headquarters. The more damage we were witnessing made us believe we were sold a faulty home from the start. Within just a few days, headquarters sent a repair tech to fix ALL of the problems, which were extensive. He spent 2 full days repairing and replacing rotten wood, door and window frames. The home is a beautiful one and since having all our repairs done, we feel so much more comfortable and confidant that the issues have been addressed and fixed and hopefully can look forward to many more years in our home. Kudos to Clayton headquarters for immediately addressing our problem once they were made aware.I purchased a home from Eddie in July 2017 and we had excellent customer service. At the time, I highly recommended him. When I purchased the home, I also purchased an extended 5 year warranty. However, last year at the point the home was about 2 years old, it started suffering water damage due to there being no sealant installed above the doorframe to prevent water leakage. We did not realize there was no sealant there until this started. The door frame had developed mold along with the floor at the entryway. We contacted Eddie and he said we shouldnt already be having these issues with the home no older than it is and he assured us it would be taken care of. I ended up having to contact the warranty department. They came out and said it was not covered due to it being defect in workmanship and/or specific components of home not being covered. DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP. I ended up having my husband just replace the floor and add sealant. Fast forward to today...there has now been more leakage due to more windows having the lack of sealant. Upon calling Eddie again, he automatically got defensive and said he didnt recall speaking to us about the previous problem. We had proof via email with HIM from last year that he was very aware of the issue and assured us it would be handled. Ive just today received a call from my homeowners insurance who also denies coverage due to gradual damage. Now were stuck with the damages to fix ourselves that we likely arent going to be able to afford all at once, when the ultimate issue was defective workmanship. All adjustors that have come out have said that there should have been sealant where there was not. This experience has dissuaded me from wanting to purchase any manufactured home in the future, especially from Clayton. We have nowhere to look for help when the problem started with us ever buying from them in the first place.

Looking forward to working with Glenn Kelly in the future. My husband and I stopped by just to look around and Glenn immediately greeted us and allowed us to look at all the homes we wanted to see. Unlike car lots and other places, he wasnt following us around and trying to talk us into anything like a typical sales person would. I thought that was great because I didnt feel like he was baby sitting us. After we looked around he gave us the info on the place we are interested in and answered any question we had. I am super excited and will update my review when we move forward later on.

I spoke to an agent name Eddie and he first got me to fill-out some paper work and get the approval to what i want and then once i got the pre-approval he hooked me up with a broker agent name chuck to find a land to get a contract for the home I wanted ..Eddie gave me a big discount on my home and worked with my budget needs to get the home cost to the minimum cost ..very supportive person and a family man whom is honest too ..i recommend him to any one interesting in buying a home from their .i have not dealt with any one other than him . Allen was a nice guy he got my land contract papers prepared for me since Eddie was on a family business leave and so far my process is going well .i can not wait until i set up my dream home and move in .if you a first time buyer i recommend Eddie their because he will guide you through every step and get the process taking care for you and give you his own personal phone to keep in touch with him any time for any matter or concern .best luck to every one :)

I have waited to write this review until we closed on our home and got moved in. Well, we are all moved in and getting settled and so far so good. Just minor items here and there that have been addressed very quickly. My review is to let everyone know about the buying and building process. Before you decide on a Clayton home, go into it without any pre-conceived notion that the process will be smooth. With any home building whether it be stick built or modular you are going to encounter delays and frustrations. Just because the home is built in a factory does not mean that there wont be issues. The issues will come from your site prep. Things like inspections and weather will delay and frustrate you. Be prepared for this! I searched online to try and find a realistic timeline for modular home construction and there really is none. So let me give someone thinking about a modular home an idea....my wife and I walked on the lot for the first time 4/8/17 and we closed 10/24/17. We had some weather delays that were not preventable and we had delays that to be honest, could have been prevented but overall we were treated fairly and the only reason I do not give 5 stars is this, Eddie and Scott do a great job but they need someone that can be like a construction coordinator to ease their job a little. Clayton Homes in Shelby needs to remember one thing......a customer wants to feel like they are the only customer and it is hard for someone to feel that way when their primary contact is covering numerous job sites. No fault of Eddie or Scott and they try to make the experience as personal as possible but I think the experience could be better if they had a little help.Overall I would buy from Clayton again and I would recommend them. I just want folks to know that if everything goes smooth then that is an anomaly. So, thanks Eddie and Scott for helping us get into our new home! Our family is enjoying it!

Went in with a fully underwritten credit approval for loan. Picked the home we wanted and sat down to talk with Allen. We told him upfront that we were already pre approved and wanted to get things started. He promised to put some numbers together and call us the next day. Next day came and no call. We waited a few more days without receiving a call from him and decided to call him. He said he hadnt gotten around to it and would call us back that day at 5:30. Never got that call either! We called him the next 3 days in a row and he kept telling us he still hasnt had a chance to help us and he would call us back. It has been a month now and we STILL have not heard from him! You would think they would be more interested in people who are pre approved and ready to go! Clearly he didnt want to make any money!! We have our heart set on a particular home but dont want to deal with someone who cant help us promptly and do their job!!

I do not recommend this Company at all. Let me go by saying Scott is a LIAR! When we were looking at our house he said that the model would no longer be selling after November which was a LIE! It was just his sales tactic to get us to hurry up and buy. He also claimed our under pinning would get painted after being installed and that didnt happen because we had to have extra grading done is what he claims. The grading is a hot mess and still is. The guy came out MULTIPLE times and never fixed the problem. there is water running under our house out the back side Every time is rains. So now we are just going to hire someone to come fix it. Then when they put the house together it did not match up. Considering each side of the house was built in a different warehouse. I could stick my foot in the gap between the house. the walls are crooked from not being put together properly. Subs have came out and fixed multiple things but its always a cheap fix and we are so over it. so from now on we will just hire someone good to fix it. Its all cheaply made. and I have learned my lesson. I also have friends that got their keys the SAME DAY and have had the same problems with the grading and lies. DO NOT BUY FROM CLAYTON! (and i do not want Clayton to call me, I just want people to know the truth) I could go on and on about the negative. I would say the Only Positive about the Company was Randy and he is now retired. He was the one that would come out and fix the little stuff.

Ok long post and there will be screenshots. First of all I think Jason is great and so is Scott. Ok so we purchased a home from Clayton’s and Scott was our sales person. They moved pretty fast getting stuff moved off the land etc which was great bc I have two kids and did not want to stay at my parents long. Well I feel like it was rushed so they could close and get the money. A list of problems within the home itself was mostly trimming work wasn’t finished which they got right out there to fix it yet I find more things each day. Second I have a job I have to put in for time off in advance yet they done the “welcome home” thing without even telling me so it was just my husband that was there which aggravated me but it is what it is. So to my major frustration was that my mailbox got hit which the movers blamed it on someone else yet nobody really ever goes down that road and it happened while they was there moving out our old place. Second my trash can got smashed by a tree which Odell the guy who done that took responsibility but I still had to call and get someone to bring a new one out. Third my kids trampoline got messed up which I asked if we needed to move it and they said no yet they moved it and destroyed it. So as you can see in the text nobody took responsibility except Clayton homes and in the pic is when the movers moved it and u can clearly see they took net down and legs were off of it. So great Scott says Clayton’s will pay for it which is fair but I feel the moving ppl should have taken responsibility. Just if you have outside stuff just move it yourself so you don’t have to worry about it. But the repair service is great and will get right on out to getting your stuff fixed. Phil is awesome at getting you scheduled. And you can see the trampoline in the before pic as well. As far as Scott he has worked hard at getting our place done and has answered my text even after hours.

We have been in our new home under 1 year, since then: The flooring ( which has a 25 year warranty) has buckled, has swollen, and separated. The countertops in kitchen replaced once, and now need again. The bathroom repaired due to smell of a sewage park. Multiple caulking repairs. Ceiling over rear porch repaired( was falling down). Had to pay out of our own pocket to replace driveway, which the delivery of the home caused!BBB of Charlotte doesnt handle this company, must redirect through Tennessee instead. If had to do over, I would have elected a different route to a home purchase. Please do your homework first.

He was rude, and acted like we didnt have enough money for him to bother with us-maybe he had already sold enough houses that day and didnt want to sell anymore. My dad came along and asked some questions and he was rude and flippant with the way he talked. Little did he know that we had more cash money than loan amount that we were wanting to use, but he didnt even try and find out about down payment cash or anything. Very rude and unprofessional. Would never recommend using this company, or maybe they are a good company and if you do use them avoid the assistant manger Scott at all costs. We went to a different company and were treated MUCH differently and they acted like they actually wanted to help, and were much nicer and more professional.
