Pupusas! The staple dish from their culture (on the right). What you see here is a breakfast dish that is served anytime of the day.White cheese on the left is next to their flavor of sour cream which tastes sweeter than American sour cream. Fried plantains are a type of banana which are best eaten fried. Scrambled eggs with some small pieces of bell pepper (not hot). Their re-fried beans are black beans instead of pinto beans. Chips and salsa that isnt very spicy, and not thick. Curtido tastes like a spicy version of cole slaw made from cabbage and carrots. The restaurant is a re-modeled gas station. Inside are photos, maps, and flags of El Salvador. The also sell bread and snacks native to their country.Im so glad to have found this hidden place in Sherman. Im happy to drive 45 minutes just to eat here.
Love this place, we come from Paris. I love papusas, my husband turned up his nose at Salvadorian food because hes unfamiliar and had his mind set on something else. He loved everything he tried, was even talking about it this morning. Great service too.
The best pupusas in Sherman, hands down.Great service too.$1.85 cheese pupusas 🤤
So good. We had a pork, a beef bean and cheese and a cheese and spinach pupusas. They were all really good but the cheese and spinach was great. We also had a fish, a chicken and a spicy beef taco. The fish taco was one of the best Ive ever had. The chicken tamales were pretty good. Really liked the salsa. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely be going back.
Everything is so so good! Love the corn tamales! Wanted to eat here Mothers Day but they were closed! I understand, their moms need a break from work too! Definitely going Monday!
Excellent food, friendly staff, and great prices! Although the name specifies El Salvador, this restaurant has a lot of influence from other countries too.I had the pork quesadilla, and three pupusas (bean & cheese, pork bean & cheese, and cheese & Loroco flower) and paid just under $12. They serve pickled cabbage and chips and salsa (both free) as an appetizer also.
The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is very friendly and courteous, the food is delicious I recommend to anyone who loves authentic salvadorian food.
This was SO GOODClean and friendlyIll def be back
The food here is amazing! My favorite place to stop when I’m Sherman. Great service too!
Every time weve been the food has not disappointed!
Good food, good service. Always nice. I had a big order today and the girl helped me to my car.
Great food!!! Excellent service, order was right on point, not missing anything and on time. The flavors are out of this world!!!
Food is always amazing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Love this place!!
Exceptional and authentic family owned Salvadorean restaurant, very friendly staff and phenomenal food. The papusas are great, but dont sleep on the fajita beef quesadillas. Use their green sauce as a dip, and youll have a good time. Been going there weekly for years now!
A bit of an oddity in Sherman, but a welcomed one. They have great pupusa and deserts!
Fabulous authentic food & dry goods market. The entire restaurant was clean and staff very friendly. Definitely go again
We ordered the pupusas and they were FANTASTIC. The cantelope water was alao very tasty and refreshing. Would be great on a hot summer day.
Fresh food, great flavors! Very attentive staff, fast service.
The owner is Salvadoran, the kitchen is amazing, they have the flavors and real seasoning from El Salvador, pupusas, tamales (salvadoran style are not the same) soups, creamsand many others. Unfortunatelly i have drive 5 hours to get there so im not able to enjoy it very frequently but i would go every day if i could.
Great food! The staff are very friendly and will explain any menu items that you are curious about.
We were driving through and stumbled across this gem. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was AMAZING. The prices were modest and servings were generous. I highly recommend!
The fried whole tilapia was awesome! Looking forward to having it again.
Great food as always, all came out really quick. Great place to eat!
Food is made to order and fresh (besides the ones that prior prep)! Great service and fantastic food. Definitely recommend if youre in the area. I had the pupusas, tamales and platanos. All were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Try out their habanero salsa!
Hot, fresh, authentic, and great service!
Food is always good!!!! Great prices!!
This was the best restaurant Ive been to while visiting Sherman. Everything was made to order and fresh. Authentic and delicious. Dont forget the homemade milk cake...trust me!
Super cheap, super tasty! The fried plantains were so good and are served with some kind of crema. Just absolutely delicious! Of the pupusas I tried, the jalapeño & cheese was probably my favorite. They were all delicious though. I debated ordering the whole menu but the portions were so big I didnt even end up finishing it all in one sitting and had to take it home. Leftovers were still popping though.
Awesome food and great little market inside!
Delicious and affordable, with great friendly service!
Outstanding fare, reasonably priced. Service is a touch slow, but the food is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
Good food and atmosphere
Cute little hole in the wall place, food was really tasty.
The food is fantastic.
Super delicious and great service. The owner and employees are very nice. Definitely will be back.
Fantastic food at an affordable price and a nice selection of El Salvador grocery items. Friendly people, too!
The black bean dip is fantastic. Very reasonable prices for great quality food
Is a simple and friendly Salvadorean good joint. Cheese popusas and empanaditas are very good. Helpful staff, visit if you are in the area.
Best coconut water Ive had. Food is good. Wait time was very short. Prices are great for amount of food given. Quality could have been better
Great food at an even better price.
You will not find better tacos
Great people, good food to bad no inside dining at this time. There are outdoor tables. The owners are very accommodating, they want you to enjoy their food and atmosphere.
Good food. Service could have been a little beter.
This place was amazing. You barely notice it driving by, but a friend recommended we all eat lunch here. The food tasted authentic and incredible, and you absolutely CANNOT beat the price. Definitely would come back.
Good pupusas and probably the best tacos in Sherman. Authentic flavor. Cant ever go back back to fake tacos like taco bell, taco casa, and taco cabana. How do those places stay in business? Long live La Placita.
Wow what else is their to say but wow . Wonderful family owned great tasting delicious food restaurant. Super nice owner. Super good food . This place is a hidden gem
Hands down the best tacos I have ever tasted! The corn tortillas are handmade.Absolutely delicious
Delicious!! The pupusas and fried plantains are so good!
Had a late lunch, early dinner. The food was outstanding. Very fresh. Very tasty. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Very attentive service! I have nothing bad to say. When I am in the area again I will certainly return
They take a log time they say 20 minutes and then we got to the place we pay and they said 5 minutes more and it was 25 minutes later that they give our food to us it was 45 minutes of waiting
Spoke to the manager prior to bringing my party of 16 (smaller dining area). He assured me that it wouldnt be a problem and would have everything ready for when we returned. He delivered on his promise. Tables were lined up to the way we discussed earlier. The waitress took care of us all in a timely manner and everyone was happy. The food as always was GREAT! Most of my guess were first timers here and they all enjoyed their food. Thanks for taking care of my huge family!
Food was delicious!!
First time here and they were amazing! Great service and food was spectacular
Great flavors and good value. You can feed a family of 4 for $20. Well be back.
Nothing says good food batter than a hole in the wall atmosphere. Have an old gas station as a building just perfects that. This place is outstanding. Not only is the food good and tasty, but it is affordable too. The people have always been friendly here whether we have eaten in, got it to go, or even when catered to events. If you are in the Sherman area and like non chain restaurants, this is a place to definitely check out.
The best papusas Ive had. Good service. Awesome Salvadorian modest place. Very economical :)
Absolutely no one makes pupusas like La Placita does. They are consistently delicious.
Delicious food, friendly management.
No fallan. Easily one of the best restaurants in Sherman, locally owned and operated by some of the sweetest people out there. Truly amazing restaurant with very authentic salvadorian food. Grew up with a salvadorian neighbor back in Dallas and I have to say this is easily better. A true hidden gem
Good food. Good price
This is definitely a hidden gem. The empanadas, fish tacos and fried plantains were delicious. Cant wait to go back.
I ordered the deal of the day. It was a little over ten dollars. It was huge. I would split it if youre not a big eater. The meal was delicious. This place really delivered. When I got home my dad ate my leftovers without asking. Then wanted to know where the restaurant was. Its that good.
Love it food is great.
First time there fell in love with the food.
One of my favorite places to eat. They have the best tamales and Tacos of anywhere around. And the price is outstanding.
Everyone needs to make this a regular place to eat! The food is amazing and the people are so friendly.
Best pupusas I have ever had!!!!
The tacos and pupusas are great! Rice definitely did not taste homemade and needs some major improvement. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Seating is sparse so dont go during the rush of lunch hour! Overall a great place to eat, Ill be returning.
First time there. Wow..great place to eat. Great service. Great prices.
Hands down, some of the most amazing street tacos Ive ever had! I highly recommend this place both for taste and price! It also has a very authentic look which only adds to its allure.
Such great food and service. Very authentic, this is El Salvadorian type food! Their tamales were very good, highly recommend.
The food is very good and served quickly at a perfect temperature. The price can not be beat! Do not let the outside or location be a deterrent. The inside is pleasant and the staff very nice.
The mixed pupusas are delicious!
Great food... never disipointed... everyone is very friendly.. great customer service... Thank you
Food is very good. A first for me for El Dalvadorian food. We will be back.
Been coming here since they opened, pretty much. Went to school with a member of the family that runs the place. Great people, who know how to make great food. Glad to see some traditional food (El Salvadorean) being brought to the community instead of more mainstream Tex-Mex fare.
Wonderful food.
Great family owned restaurant.
The best central America food in Sherman Texas. Delicious pupusas and great service with a smile.
The tacos were amazing I just wish they had corn!!! 🌮🌮
Amazing food for the price. Super nice staff.
Awsome food. Very inexpensive. Dont let the building throw you off.
Small menu but it looks like they make everything with precision. The bistec plate was fantastic. If I wasnt on a diet Id ask for a second one to go. They also have authentic Salvadoran food products. Ill be coming here may times, for sure.
Great food even better prices
My dog ate my taco & flan which really disappointed me but the plantains were awesome!!!
Awesome food!! We tried all the non-meat pupusas and they were delicious and very authentic. I tried the beef fajitas burrito (without the cheese) and found it to be a winner too. My husband really liked the beef fajitas tacos and everyone loved the sweet tamales. We found the service to be great, the prices very reasonable, and the food amazing....We will definitely be returning.....frequently!!
If i could give this place six stars i would. The atmosphere is great, the employees ande friendly. The food could have been double the price and still worth it.
