I called one Long Beach bicycle shop that never answered the phone, and a second that transferred me from one answering machine to another without ever connecting me to an actual human being. My third call was to Plenty of Bikes, where Jon was kind enough to bother picking up the phone. I explained the problem I was having putting together a fold-up bike I purchased online, and Jon gave me an estimate for what it would cost for me to have him finish the job. When I got to the shop, Jon assembled the hand brakes in accordance with the very reasonable estimate he gave me when I called the day before, plus he reversed the handlebars I had inserted backwards, and tightened the seat, which needed to be set more securely, all at no extra charge. So, the next time I have any kind of bike related need, I know exactly who I should call first.

I was looking for bike because everywhere else was sold out of road bikes and then I came here today and saw Jon. Jon helped me find the bike of my dreams and I took it for a ride up and down the beach and it was so smooth and fast. Thanks again Jon for helping me find the perfect bike that fits me.

We came here yesterday and I felt so welcomed. The owner who helped us was so nice. We went to another bike shop the day before and didn’t get the help or answers we needed. I’m so glad we found this shop. He was wiping down his work station after each customer and allowed us in (with a toddler 🥴) and let us look around while he found a bike in my size. I was able get the last 54 he had in stock(at a great price) and was able to take the road bike home that day. We will be back for more purchases in the future!

Great shop with excellent service

I did a lot of research just trying to find a simple bike to ride during quarantine.I had some unanswered questions and no one at other shops seemed reasonable enough to talk to to help fill in the blanks. I did a lot of research on their website and finally made the call. he didn’t have my first choice of bike in stock but we talked a little bit and he made a suggestion to something he had. drove down and grabbed it in about 15 minutes and got it home very happy with my purchase

I went in after seeing some posts on Craigslist and was not disappointed. I think it’s important to provide feedback that is comprehensive so I will get the small things out first, prices were great, selection was great, and John keeps his website up to date. Now here is the important part, John explained to me what was available in my budget, allowed me to test ride and then even explained what made the bikes better with bike prices/models. Not only that, once I bought the bike he accommodated my relocation and when my wife went to pick it up, he even helped her load it into her SUV.Bottom line, he cares, is passionate and wants people to share his joy in cycling and he even provided the assembly and tuning others charge $100+ for with the price. Ignore that single one star review of this bike shop; this place is awesome. Ive bought 2 bikes from here and theyve been amazing each time. Fair prices and great service across the board.More bike shops should take note from here on how to do it right. I encourage everyone to frequent this local business as much as possible.

I dont really understand what Christian is talking about in terms of being a shady business because Jon at Plenty of Bikes is one of the most amazing and passionate bike shop owners I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I have been to over 30+ bicycle shops in the past 12+ years of cycling ranging from New York to SF to the LA/OC area. He has an amazing knowledge of a variety of bikes in all categories from the high end road bikes all the way down to kids bikes and can order almost anything with a reasonably prices which most or almost all shops cant really compete with in my personal opinion. Hes helped me out over the years with many of my bikes whenever I had a specific question about any part of the bike he always had the most honest and straight forward answer without trying to make it sound like his shop was the only one that could fix the issues. I bought my first nice road bike here over 5+ years ago and couldnt be happier on how well it still rides today and have been a returning customer throughout the years customizing my riding styles both road&fixed. At the end of the day my experience with Plenty of Bikes as a long time customer has been amazing and I cannot stress how much you will not be disappointed coming here!!

I purchased a bike from Jon a little over a year ago, and just never liked anything about it. I finally went back to speak with Jon about it. Not only did he give me a fair trade in, but he matched me with the perfect bike. Service beyond the call of duty!

Stopped in for a top up on air as Im on tour. Finally! a bike shop owner/employee who doesnt mansplain or give you attitude (a serious problem Ive found on this trip). For you other bike chicks out there, I recommend John. Nice guy who will some day close the shop to go on a tour. :)

Bought a bike online the day before Easter 2020 for my 24 year old granddaughter . The owner met us at store on Easter at 12noon to give us her bike.

Great service by knowledgeable owner.has a great selection of good quality bikes at moderate price points.He has an eye for for the really cool looking older style contemporary bikes without the garrash colors and cheap components.His part prices prove to be the lowest in the LB area (l buy allot of tubes tires and such) always reasonable.Hard to find this shop but worth the search.

Yep, just another shady business that spams their bikes over and over on the online classifieds reserved for private sellers. Its a shame the sites dont do more to curb this practice, but its an even bigger shame this store wont follow some very simple rules. If I am looking for a bike by a private seller, why must I be bombarded by ads for this bike shop? Hopefully they go out of business for misleading their customers.
