I had a diploma that had been partially damaged by water that I needed to frame. ART was recommended to me by a local framing service. I called ART and immediately made an appointment. The ART representative inspected the diploma and suggested a course of action to repair it. ART restored my diploma to a state where it was not possible to see that it had once been water-damaged. Very happy with their services.
My 35 year old marble King Tut statue broke at the (very skinny) neck and the head is very heavy. I didn’t have high hopes for a successful reattachment but they did a beautiful job, you can’t even see the surgery, he is as good as new! Very happy!
Huge amount of thanks to Emily Kane and Elke Claus of Art Restoration Services of Skokie IL. They came to the house last week to open up the case containing the taxidermy of a giant black cat names Smut for treatment against the larvae of the evil white moth. My god I love these two ladies.Smut belonged to a sword swallower by the name of Gamboli of Liverpool England in the late 1800s. I found him at a store in Chicago called Jacob Marley on Clark Street back in 1990 and fell in love with him the minute I saw him. He has been in his memorial case for some 125 years. It took them a good two hours to get the case open. But for the first time in my life I was able to pet Smut. He was so soft.My deep thanks to Emily and Elke. I cannot speak highly enough of your professionalism and care and kindness.
Wow, I couldn’t have been happier with the photo restoration job they did. I had a 1943 newspaper photo of my father that was glued to a piece of wood and was rapidly disintegrating. ART was able to somehow make a copy of it which is much more clear and legible and will last many more years. I now have it framed and under glass (and not glued to a piece of wood). I’m HAPPY!!!!!
At the very end of January of 2020, we sustained major water damage to our home while we were out of town. ART of North & Central Chicagoland was called in by the mitigators to remove the artwork and photographs from the walls of our home, and provide the needed restoration and storage until the house was restored.Needless to say, having never dealt with home damage of this magnitude before, we were overwhelmed with all the decisions we were asked to make in a very short amount of time – all while we were out of town and as travel home was becoming more and more inadvisable because of COVID – 19.Jeff Liebert, the owner of ART, more than any other person we had to deal with immediately after we were notified what had happened to our home - and through the many months ahead was beyond patient, informative and sensitive to our needs and concerns. When initially our insurance company denied our claim for any reimbursement of anything, Jeff took an enormous amount of time with us, giving us honest information about the condition of the artwork so we could make decisions about what we could afford to pay for and what we would have to let go. Thankfully, when our insurance reversed their decision and accepted our claim, Jeff again gave us his time to reassess what artwork we could then add for restoration and storage. His calm, understanding approach to every decision we had to make – and his expertise - helped us beyond measure. And when at last, when our artwork and photographs were returned to us, we were delighted with the care that the restoration reflected. Everything looked like new – clearly beautifully and carefully dried and cleaned, in some cases reframed. We couldn’t be more satisfied with all that was done and we will be ever grateful to Jeff (and his staff) for their marvelous, professional work and for shepherding us so patiently, so kindly, through this difficult chapter in our lives.Anne and Jayme Brentan
