Mark’s classes are incredible! I was terrified of guns before taking his handgun fundamentals course. I am now confident in handling handguns because Mark takes his time and thoroughly explains every detail. I could not get home soon enough to write this review after completing the fundamentals class today, but this was a very satisfying and fulfilling experience. Before this class, I felt like a bull in a china shop when it came to anything regarding firearms and safety. After this class, I feel more confidence in safely handling, gripping and aiming my firearm at any potential targets. I am now equipped with knowledge about gun laws and how they differ from state to state, and most importantly, I am more aware and cerebral of my responsibility as a weapons owner. I’m late for posting but I went in not knowing what to expect but man what an amazing and safe experience. I know more than I knew coming in and I feel much more comfortable owning my firearm and knowing how to keep my family safe. Mark and his team are a wealth of knowledge and are always safety first, engaging, and in control of the environment in a way that keeps thing awesome. Mark is fun and knowledgeable. I have attended 2 classes so far with Mark and I will attend more. Mark is very knowledgeable and presents everything in an easy manor. The facility is awesome, remote and safe.

My wife, daughter (age 17), two sons (ages 15 and 14), and I all took the course this weekend. None of us had taken any firearms training classes previously, but Mark made us feel comfortable very quickly. We learned a ton both in the classroom and out on the range. Every one of us left there feeling much more comfortable with handguns. Mark clearly has a passion for God and the second amendment (my kind of guy), and he has a multitude of movie quotes that he can pull out at will depending on the situation, so it is entertaining as well as informative.We all had a great time, and we are looking forward to taking some of the more advanced classes that Mark offers. I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking to become comfortable exercising his or her right to bear arms. Oh and ask him to show you how the flame thrower works :-)

As someone new to handling firearms, this course exceeded my expectations. Mark is an excellent instructor who provided detailed information about the legal and technical aspects of firearm protection. The course included 8 people and the environment was safe, controlled, and organized. The drills that were included in the course were relevant to self-protection that could not be replicated in an indoor range. Excellent course and looking forward to more courses.

Just took a course last week. Both Mark and Brad are phenomenal. They were patient, knowledgeable and efficient. Everything they taught was not only insightful but it kept my attention. My 13-yo son and I took the Fundamentals class. I have owned handguns for most of my life but hadn’t shot for several years. My son had only shot a BB gun in the past. Mark was informative and entertaining. Even in the midst of, what I found out later to be, a family medical emergency that took Mark out of town for several weeks, he took the time to call me personally. He is patient, knowledgeable, and super careful in everything he does. I highly recommend Mark, and his assistant instructors Jennifer and Gip, of Armed Citizens of Georgia. He simulates a close quarters encounter, as you would experience in your own home, while stressing safety. ACG’s new facility is beautiful and clean, though I cannot offer a comparison as I never saw the previous one. The range is outdoors, but he keeps a generator and two huge fans to increase comfort when it’s hot. Mark offers several other classes, which I intend to take with my son, and my parents. He offers several models to try, if you don’t own a handgun, which was great for my son as he was able to gain confidence with a .22 then quickly progress to a 9mm. Four thumbs (2 from me and 2 from the kiddo) all the way up for ACG!

My husband and i recently attended the fundamentals and safety course and it exceeded my expectations!! Mark is such a great instructor. The classes are a great size so everyone gets personal help and attention. He is very informative and thorough. I feel like we learned a lot and cant wait to come back and take a different course!

My husband and I attended Mark’s Handgun fundamentals class and it was amazing!! I was nervous before going because it was the first handgun class I ever took and didn’t know what to expect. My hands were shaking but Mark and his team were extremely helpful, patient and before I even knew it all of my nerves were gone and had one of the best times of my life. Mark kept the class engaged and entertained the entire time. If you are doubting whether you should sign up, then stop thinking about it and call him now! You will thank me later. Although connecting with this company may be difficult, it is well worth persisting to participate in the courses offered. Mark (owner) is a superb communicator and the course provides varied methodology for instruction. Unfortunately I found one of his assistants to be very brusque which put a damper on the course for me and makes me hesitate to participate in additional courses offered. At the end of the course I was able to chat with the other assistant who was very helpful and personable.

Mark is a passionate, thorough instructor. He can turn an absolute beginner into a pro, in a matter of hours! He’s incredible. Worth the investment & travel.

My wife and I both have taken several classes with Mr. Swinson, including private sessions. He provides a wealth of knowledge that makes you think about how you live and ideas about dos and donts regarding personal safety. Mr. Swinson provides wonderful instruction regarding firearms. Each drill builds on the last and he gives specific reasons on why each step / technique is performed in that specific manner. He takes each persons abilities into consideration and provides several options to help if needed. In my opinion, you can tell Mr. Swinson thoroughly enjoys what he does and has a true teacher mentality.

I highly recommend taking the handgun fundamentals course. Especially if you are new owning and handling a firearm. The instructions that i recived were way above what i expected. He not only shows you how to operate and fire a gun. But goes over other valid information that i feel all pepole should know not just gun owner . me and my wife walked away not only learning how to shoot But on some information on safety and reponsibillitys of being a gun owner. We also plan to take some of the other courses . abd get some of are friends ro take the beginner course as well.

I can’t say enough about this class. I personally went in as a novice, wanting to learn more to be able to protect myself & my house. The confidence I left with was absolutely amazing.No matter your skill level you’re going to come out of this feeling safer & more knowledgeable. It’s the beginning course, but I’ll eat a frog if you don’t take this course & feel more confident & secure in your knowledge of guns & how to handle them.I absolutely recommend. Enormous learning opportunity, entertaining, & I feel indebted to the instructor for teaching me so much so easily.

My wife and I took the Handgun Fundamentals for Protection course and are very impressed with the information we learned and the practice we completed. We have some experience with handguns but wanted to get some real defense training and become more knowledgeable about rules, regulations and laws. The first few hours of the course is classroom, which is both informative and entertaining, as Mark has a great sense of humor and very good delivery. Then you go to their private, outdoor range in the afternoon. You start with very basic safety and gun handling instruction and progress to some real-life drills. Know that this course works well for someone with no handgun experience at all, as well as an experienced shooter who wants to practice drills. The best drill was at the end and consisted of a near life size target, moving toward you quickly, in almost complete darkness. This simulates what you might encounter in your own home late at night. This course produces results, educated us and made us much more comfortable in an emergency situation, and that is why we will be taking more courses soon.

Gained a wealth of information taking their handgun for defense course. The first half was in the classroom and the second half was on their private range. Got pretty intense as well. A lot misconceptions were cleared up. They also gave the why behind their training techniques which was a plus. The course was so good Im signing up for the conceal carry class as well. A great experience. In looking to educate ourselves and to become comfortable with our weapons a friend found ACG. They are extremely thorough and safety conscious. We have started with the Fundamentals course. They were patient and gave us a detailed overview of the laws and practical safety in our home and in public. Great advice even if you didnt want to carry.Then we moved outside and turned to hands on step by step tactical training. Extremely detailed, starting with proper handling and holding of the gun. Highly controlled exercises which progressively developed your skills and confidence in shooting situations you may face in real life. Cant stress enough how careful they are and how they take everything step by step. It really impresses upon you to be safe with your guns. This will stick with you throughout each exercise and beyond.Oh and great facilities ;)

OK, I didnt know what to expect. My friend Brad suggested we take this course and after taking it this weekend I have to tell you it was amazing. Our wives took it with us and both had almost no experience. The class was basic enough to get you up to speed but had enough advanced principles to keep you engaged if you were more experienced. Mark and Belinda were amazing. We drove over 1 hour and a half for this training and we plan to drive again to take some more of their training. Do not hesitate to train with these two. By the way I have never made a google review for, I just felt so compelled to this time!

This course was recommended to me by a friend. I have spent many years around guns and thought I was fairly skilled. This course removed many of the falsehoods that are perpetuated by novices. There are many things that I had to relearn. I wish that I had taken this course years ago to have a better foundation. It also debunked many myths and it is helping me focus on future acquisition of weapons. I would take this class again just to have the reinforcement, especially the outdoor training. I am also interested in their advanced courses as well.The pace of the class was consistent and there was never a doll moment. Both instructors are highly skilled, enthusiastic, and attentive.

I received so much from the one day course that my husband and I took. Learning more on my legal rights and the wonderful practice in the afternoon - realizing I need more practice! They kept the class interesting and fun but always with the knowledge we are working with deadly weapons. I felt safe and feel safer now on my own. Thanks guys!

Took the Firearm Fundamentals course with my wife and truly enjoyed every moment of it. We had very little gun experience prior to taking the course but now we feel a lot more comfortable with using our firearm. They take time to teach you the rules and the laws during the beginning of the course and then you go to an outside range where you are taught the basics of using and firing your gun. Instructors are very knowledgeable and experts in this field.

Amazing courses!!!My wife and I took their fundamentals class expecting a lot... And got WAY more than we expected!!!The teaching is fun. But covers everything. Legal, mindset, and practical application for protecting yourself or someone else should the need ever arise.We will be taking their other courses for sure!

I can’t figure out how to add a second review, so I’ll just update this one. We had another private lesson (with Mark and Gip) today, and there aren’t words to properly express how wonderful this training is. They make me realize just how inadequate my previous training experiences have been at indoor ranges. Each session at ACGA increases my level of confidence in my own abilities and in my legal knowledge surrounding firearms and self defense. Thank you for another excellent day, and here’s to hoping there are many more in the future!Original Review from May 2019:I took my mother and my daughter (6 years old) today for private instruction with Mark. It was amazing! Mark was incredibly patient and made my daughter (not to mention my mother and me) feel 100% secure while handling the firearms. I would have thought I’d have been uncomfortable watching my young daughter fire a gun, but he took all of that fear and uncertainty away instantly. He took time to explain, in detail, differences in the various calibers, round types, etc.. He is extremely knowledgeable about all legal aspects and even squashed some of our incorrectly-held beliefs. I’ve already been back on his website looking for the next opportunity to continue our training. If you are considering weapons instruction, I highly recommend you reach out. You will not regret it.

I finally conquered one of my fears. I took the Handgun Fundamentals for Protection class. It was so incredibly empowering. I started off hitting just outside the targets body. Then with great coaching I was hitting the target consistently in the middle/on target?Such a GREAT and extremely professional husband and wife team. We learned at an outdoor range with a moving target - the suspect coming at you, etc. I cannot begin to tell women how powerful and amazing this was. I highly recommend this training and this team.

I have to say this is my first ever review on something but I just have to let everyone know how great it was!!!! I was super nervous going into the training, but by the end of the day I was more comfortable and was extremely happy!!! I have told several friends about the courses and would definitely recommend it to everyone interested in gun safety!! I will be looking into doing more courses with them in the future!!

Ive been a gun owner for over 30 years and still gained a great deal of knowledge from this course. The teaching was explained in terms easy for all to understand and the training was invaluable. I would highly recommend this program for everyone regardless of your knowledge of firearms.

Training was well done and at a relaxed pace. None of the students are rushed and both of the instructors are enthusiastic and caring.Safety is paramount which is important in any gun training. They never let you forget what the tool in your hands is capable of.I am not a gun nut, I believe a gun has a very specific purpose. Its to ensure I keep my wife and family safe from anyone who wishes to do them harm. Although guns are what they teach, they never come across as Ted Nugent type gun people. They have their opinions on things and will share them if asked but for the most part they arent going to spend a lot of time trying to indoctrinate you into the NRA.The classroom is comfortable for the class size, its clean, and the surrounding area seems safe. The range is about 35 minutes east and is very private. If its hot make sure you start hydration a day or so early. Its a long day outside and everything youre covered from direct sun, its hot. The instructors do all they can with fans, water, and snacks but its still Georgia. I would be remiss if I did not mention the toilet situation. Although youre in the middle of the woods roughing it for guys is frowned upon. They have a very nice electric toilet in a shed, which was warm but very clean. Its just another example of the things that armed citizens of Georgia does to ensure you have as good a training experience as possible.Im looking forward to returning in the future for their concealed carry course!

My wife and I, along with 3 of our kids ages 14-18, took Armed Citizens of Georgias Handgun Fundamentals for Protection course last week. It was fantastic. Prior to the course, I spoke with Mark on the phone and explained what we were looking for. He spent time talking to me about their courses and the benefits of what they do. We had virtually zero experience with guns prior to this course. Mark and Blenda are top notch instructors and have a clear yet detailed way of teaching. In addition, they spend the time to answer any and all questions. Before the course we were very uncomfortable with handguns. After the classroom portion and time on their outdoor range, we had an greatly increased comfort level with handguns and most importantly we understood safe gun handling requirements. We also had a better knowledge about personal protection in general, including items not related to guns. I highly recommend Armed Citizens of Georgia and will definitely take some of their other courses in the future.

Cant say enough about how great the Handgun Fundementals class was. My wife and I both went from being nervous with a firearm to confident over the course of the day. Every gun owner should take this course.

I took the Handgun Fundamentals for Protection course. The first few hours are spent in a classroom learning about laws and your rights as a citizen. Mark did an amazing job of keeping this portion of the course very upbeat. He had such a great sense of humor but also kept things very serious as they should be. I learned so much in the classroom. Then the real fun began, we left out to their private range which was beautiful and spacious. I started out super nervous about holding a gun. I had shot a handgun just a few times before and the last time I hurt myself because of improper grip. I never went back to shoot. I thought Id try some training and Mark did a great job of making me feel comfortable and in control. Would recommend Mark and Blenda to anyone! Amazing people!

If I could give 10 stars I would. Mark is an amazing and patient instructor. Having no previous gun experience, I was a bit nervous to say the least but I left the class knowing the fundamentals of gun safety, Georgia laws and ready to sign up for my next class. I will be coming back and bringing my entire family!!

This is an excellent course for those interested in using firearms, knowing more about, and understanding your rights to use them. The handgun fundamental course was half classroom and half range. No question asked was a stupid one. Mark Swinson walked the class with simple examples and concise direction. Very unassuming guy. No flash and boast. No politics or bias brought to the class, just a plethora of information. By the time we got to the range, I was more than ready to get some shots in. Safety was a priority and Mark Swinson proved that he was a more than adequate trainer. They only train small numbers at a time, as to give personal assistance to each student. I took this class with my father and we were both pleased with the outcome, looking to go to a shooting range in the near future. I highly recommend this course.

I had a wonderful time taking the Handgun Fundamentals for Protection course. Mark was a phenomenal teacher/instructor and made the class very engaging and informative. He cleared up numerous rumors and misconceptions regarding firearms and was highly knowledgeable in the laws. The small class size allowed for much individual attention and Mark was very kind, articulate, encouraging, humorous, and clearly experienced. The private outdoor range was quiet, fairly spacious, and quite pretty, which was nice. All of the equipment was provided (as Im not yet old enough to own my own handguns) and it was great to be able to try multiple 9mms including a Glock 17, 19, 26, and 43. I got to shoot a total of well over a hundred rounds in various scenerios that would not have been possible at an indoor range and had so much fun. I got way more than I had expected out of the class, which was also very inexpensive. I feel more confident in my shooting skills and, perhaps more importantly, I feel better prepared for dangerous situations. I recommend the ACG 100% and I plan on returning in the near future for one of Marks other handgun courses.

I highly recommend ACG for any self-defense related questions, guidance and instruction. I was searching for instruction as I wanted to start carrying a concealed gun for my protection. I wanted instruction in a way that was transferrable to the situations that I might (but hope I never) encounter. After searching, I found theirs to be the best as it was outdoors, and they simulated different realistic scenarios. Also of interest to me was to understand concealed carry law, and if one ever had to use a weapon, then how to deal with all aspects of the aftermath. I was also not interested in some of the cookie cutter type instruction out there.When I contacted them and discussed their course - they were very helpful and took the time to discuss my questions, and gave me valuable suggestions on which items to consider, what brands, and which items they would have in the course so that I could try them out (such as how to carry, what would be practical and comfortable for me). They were also well versed on the choice of firearm I was considering, and that helped me to confirm my purchase.The first day of the carry course is more lecture and discussion on carry law. They are very patient and take the time to explain any concept or scenario you have a question about.The second day is on private land where they set up the shooting drills. You get a lot of one on one instruction as well to address any technique or skills you need to go over. I learned a lot in that one day, as well as basics of improving how I was holding and shooting the firearm.They are very thorough in also making sure everything is safe. Even after the course, they are still answering questions that I have.There is a lot more I could say, but I want to get this review out there and hope this gives a good idea.

We learned a lot of valuable advice about how to use our handgun in the event of a home break-in. When the class transitioned to the gun range, we were taught proper grip, stance, and aim. As the afternoon went on, I became a faster and more accurate shot. Mark and Blenda made the class fun, but they take gun safety VERY seriously. We are planning to have our kids take the course as soon as possible. I would definitely recommend Armed Citizens of Georgia to all my friends.
