I go there a lot and lately I’ve been going when the regular red head girls haven’t been there and they always mess up my coffee. Twice now my coffee has tasted like milk. They don’t put enough coffee and barely put any caramel if they even do at all. This time I went back and asked for them to add it and the one girl with dark hair and blonde underneath replied “caramel does melt btw” The little but she added still has to be stirred in… and I let her know usually I have to stir it in… which I like because it gives it its sweetness. And to start she didn’t even let me finish my order and told me the total. Just rude overall. Definitely will be going in only when the girls who do their jobs right are there.
Its a shame I couldnt give this place 5 stars. The coffee is amazing and their tea even better (being more of a tea guy myself). The environment is nice and cozy where they play great music and have fun live events such as comedy night or music night. The only reason it gets 3 stars instead of 5 is because of the fact that they do not let you use the bathroom. Coffee, as most people know, makes people use the bathroom much sooner than one would like, same with tea as well. Not only this but if I want to eat something there it would be nice to be able to wash my hands. This place is great if you want to grab a cup of coffee and head out. Not the place to stay and enjoy yourself because once you need to use the bathroom (which you will need to) youre out of luck. Hopefully these guys change their minds so that those that would like to stay here could have a more clean and comforable time being there.
Best cold brew and coffee (Honduran is my favorite) in the area. Great customer service. I love the atmosphere and music selection. Highly recommend!
Nice layout, kind staff but its a bit on the higher end of the price per person for coffee. A chance to experience if you like personal coffee spots.
Finally a good Coffee place in this New Jersey neighborhood. I cant wait to come back!
Great capuchinoGood atmosphereWant to go back when they bring live music
Awesome coffee and great selection of vegan baked goods!! So happy to find this place!
Really great basic latte; live when the fundamentals are strong. Hip patio seating on Division Street pedestrian space. Shop Local!
Best coffee in NJ!!!All their coffees are organic and delicious. We drive 40 mins away every week to get a cup or two to go. The atmosphere is soooo cute and chill. Super insta-worthy and their vegan donuts and cakes are TO DIE FOR. You won’t regret it! Starbucks who?
The Columbian and Honduran coffee were very good. Almond croissant was good also. Bathroom was out of order which is strange for a cafe with seating and food being served.
Great local coffee spot! The atmosphere is warm and inviting as well.
Thank you for the feedback!!Leaving some of the review as I think folk should still be warned that there is no bathroom. It is a coffee shop and coffee has a tendency to get things going. I had to leave early (would have stayed for what looked like a tasty baked good - the cannolis looked amazing) bc I needed to use the restroom.Thank you for you kind response :) I wish you all the best!---------This place is clearly loved by the community and had lots of folks coming in to get coffees to go. But it just wasnt my spot - for folks a bit pickier a few things of note.1. They do not have decaf coffee and can only do half caf espresso if they also pull two full caf espresso shots - which kinda defeats the purpose of the wanting half caf (or at least this is how I understood the explanation)2. They have no bathroom.....
Unpleasant experience. To add to everyone not being able to use the bathroom. Its true, the girl was really rude because i went to the bathroom, there was no sign outside stating the bathroom was closed. Only a curtain that was half closed.
Went there today for the 1st time. The guys behind the counter are really nice. My wife got tea and I got coffee. She loved her tea and I loved my coffee. Will definitely be going back again.
Great coffee ! I am from Israel, Did you change the name of the place ? Used to visit summer of 2019 and I think the name was different. Also remember guy named Shawn… is he still work ?
I was very excited to learn that this cafe sells desserts made by Vegan Treats! I stopped by last weekend and picked up cannoli, Boston creme donuts, strawberry crunch donuts, double chocolate donuts, old fashioned donuts, chocolate chip cookies, and cookie butter cookies, all from Vegan Treats. I also bought a chai tea latte with almond milk. I look forward to returning. Thank you so much for selling these wonderful desserts.
Ive come to this coffee shop continually over the past two years and they do a great job. I used to set up shop and kill my work day here on a regular basis, and now through COVID, theyve provided their service in such a safe way. Great service, menu, and community!
Coffee tastes really good and they offer vegan bagels with vegan butter as an option. You can order ahead via their website, which is usually my preferred method or call it in. Besides limited parking (still new to the area), nothing beats a good local coffee shop. It is not like Dunken nor Starbucks, which I prefer cuz the quality of coffee is better.
I was tired of the burnt, expensive coffee at Starbucks. What a refreshing surprise. Everything i wanted in a cup of joe. Truly a gem of a place. The proprietor is personable and cheerful. My cappuccino and croissant was 7 and change.....CHANGE. You dont have to go to that other place ever again! Give them a try, youll thank me for it!
Lisa provided me with excellent customer service. Coffee was delicious and fresh too.
It saddens me to give this a one star rating but after my experience last night I have to. I was there with four other people and we got coffee and wanted to sit. The three tables all had two people as two of the seats have signed asking people not to sit in them. They have bar style seats available. We asked if we could sit in them and the clerk said no. A few minutes later a table became available so two of sat at the table and the other two stood near by. 3 minutes later the women making coffee yelling from behind the counter said that theres four to a table and were at capacity you have to leave. There four people who came in after us sitting at the bar style of seats that were not addressed and came in after us. We took the high road and left but the batista, who clearly was targeting us couldve handle the situation better. Yelling from across the counter was disruptive to the other patrons who turned their heads and looked thinking they were being addressed. There was no explanation why we had to leave but four other patrons sitting in seats with signs saying you cant sit in them and came in after us were not addressed and the batista was highly unprofessional in how she handled the situation and we were clearly targeted.
Great atmosphere, stylish look, sweet people working there! We went there on a weekday evening and even though it was slow, baristas didnt look bored, or tired (which is normal for human beings, so no judgement). But we were greeted with a smile, and just taken care of. The place was very clean and had acceptable amount of succulent plants. Perfect. Thank you ❤️
Came in yesterday with a few friends. I didn’t get any coffee. I asked if we could sit at the bar seating and the barista said no. Another table soon opened up, so two of us sat and the other 2 were standing nearby. The barista yelled across the coffee shop at us (which was SUPER unprofessional and rude). We do understand Covid guidelines- however- the way she addressed us was uncalled for and could’ve been handled more appropriately. ALSO, other patrons were also not following the rules. The table next to us were sitting ACROSS from each other while the seats clearly stated you should be sitting on the same side. ANOTHER couple came in after us and sat at the high top seating that clearly stated DO NOT SIT, and they were not addressed either. Again, I fully understand Covid guidelines... if you’re going to enforce them, it should be for all patrons and for all the rules ( sitting on the same side of the table, not sitting at ‘do not sit’ chairs etc). Very disappointed and not coming back.
Coffee was ok. However, staff was extremely rude. Multiple people were breaking “covid rules” but they only targeted a certain person while yelling across the room at them. Not cool. Will not return.
Love this place, such a warm and comfy coffee shop! Thank you for the experience 🙂
Great local spot for a quick coffee and bite to eat. Will definitely return again soon!
I love their cold brew. I usually like light to medium roast coffee from local roaster for fresh flavors. To my surprise, their cold brew is made from dark roast but it has smooth and unique taste. They also have good variety of vegan desert menu, vegan deserts are coming from external bakery every Friday, so if you want to try vegan donut or cookie, try to go on Friday & Saturday to get more variety. All I can say is: Ill go to Cheechs for cold brew again and again.
Mediocre at best. Never been to a coffee shop where they have specialty coffees and a variety of beans but you cant get the coffee the way you want it. There was a great Honduras bean that they wouldnt make an aeropress or pour over. I was informed they only make it for drip coffee. Additionally, they have very interesting coffee concoctions made with juices but was informed they dont make them due to covid... but i can go down the road and have fresh juice smoothies made in front of me. Apparently, the employees are so afraid of fresh juice facilitating the spread of covid... sad excuse for a coffee shop.
I ordered online to pick up in store, and the wait time was very quick! I got cold brew with coconut milk and vegan caramel, it was delicious! Highly recommend, and the interior was very nice. :)
Great chocolate vegan donut. Happy to see vegan options - surprised to find they were so tasty. A friend was happy to see gluten free options as well. I enjoyed my house brewed black tea. Nice atmosphere and staff.
I like the coffee, it tastes well and I feel the caffeine kick coming in soon. The rewards point program is standard here. Update on COVID, they arent allowing customers to use the bathroom. I would appreciate it if your establishment posted a sign at the entrance stating the bathroom is closed until further notice, so that other customers know.
Coffee taste good but i was disappointed with their customer service. I was treated rudely with an attitude from one of the employees here,.
Stopped by here after getting haircut and deciding to walk around town. Super friendly staff! I got a large cold brew that tasted amazing. Just simply a great cafe to grab some coffee, atmosphere is very hip and theres people working there, on their laptops reminiscent of a Starbucks but homier. All in all, if you need coffee and are around, you cant go wrong here, reasonably priced coffee with great taste! 10/10
Today I stopped here for the first time to try their coffee. After standing in line for about 3 minutes, a gentleman asked me to stand outside and wait for someone to exit before going back in. Everyone in line was social distancing so I really didnt get what the issue was, but ok. I went outside. Five people walked right in as soon as I went outside. No one said anything to them. Nothing. They were allowed to stay in line... what was the difference? Its ok, keep your coffee!
Do yourself a favor and never go to Starbucks again! If you want to know what actual coffee taste like come here! The space is modernly designed and has a great vibes to it. The coffee is fair priced along with all of their treats. Some days they have poetry or music live in the store, so be sure to check it out!
LIT ENERGY... great place to sit and relax .. esthetically appealing.. great for photos.. lattes are delish.. employees are sweet.. if you love coffee shops this one is worth checking out..
Love the modern feel of this coffee shop! I still have to come by when they have live music. I work down the street, and this place is great for a little pick-me-up. Staff has always been friendly and the cold brew is pretty good.
$10 for a medium latte and a donut, way over price! Service was good though.
Love this place! Beautiful aesthetics, great service and really good coffee. Such a friendly and welcoming staff. I got a latte with almond milk and it was the best I’ve ever had! They also have outlets conveniently all over the place so you can really get work done and not have to worry about being in a spot where you won’t be able to charge. Will definitely be returning.
Just a nice coffee shop that isnt a Starbucks. Great coffee and good vibe. Live music as well on certain nights just check the site to find out more however of course. Clean and quick for a your caffeine fix. Service is really good and the staff is friendly.
Such a cute coffee shop! The staff is extremely friendly and the design of the interior is one to remember. Coffee is amazing too!
I found think coffee shop while strolling through Somerville. From the art films playing on the big screen, to the modern minimalist decor, I loved the atmosphere. The bakery case was filled with both vegan and gluten free options, which I found to be both rare and delicious. The staff was knowledge, friendly, and seemed passionate about the product being sold. I strongly recommend the Continental, an iced coffee served layered over fresh squeezed orange juice.
Great coffee. Right on division st. You can sit outside in the summer. Perfect place to meet up with a friend or have a quick meeting over some coffee.
Good selection of vegan desserts. Three types of non dairy milk for tea and coffee, coconut, oat, and almond. Eco friendly with metal straws and compostable utensils. Its a nice independent business!
Super quick, accommodating service. Ample seating and great location for people watching. Background music was a little loud for my taste, but the coffee is fantastic (I keep going back for the dark roast!).
Parking is the worst but the coffee is good. Sometimes the wait can be long depending on time of day and how many people they have working; it’s only ever really been bad early afternoon during the week. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here, but if I’m passing through Somerville and there’s parking within a block or two, I’d stop by.
Very nice ambience. A large variety of vegan options. Great service!
Cold brew is great and 5 stars for having oat milk
Love this coffee shop. I think the coffee is 5 stars. I couldnt believe my taste buds when I first tried a latte. I love the atmosphere. The staff is friendly. Although the owner is surly. I always feel like Im burdening him with my order if he is working the counter.
Really good coffee and the staff is very friendly. Great place to catch up with a friend or get some work done. Sure beats the bucks!
High quality coffee from a small coffee house. Skip the Starbucks and Dunkin this place blows them out of the water. Cozy atmosphere and they sometimes play live music.
What can I say that hasnt been said already except Vegan Baked goods and Oat milk!!Pleasantly surprised by the selection of choices! Service was friendly, atmosphere relaxing and most definitely a stop whenever I am in Somerville!!
The standard coffee is a bit pricey, but tastes much fresher than Starbucks and is clearly high quality. Espresso is excellent as well. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere to relax or work.
Great new addition to town and truly a high quality coffee shop. They make the drinks with real care to detail. Friendly service, beautiful ambiance, and yummy treats. Good music, too!
Friendly baristas, great coffee, and a relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor seating area right on Division is a big plus too. So glad to have this place in town!
Great smooth coffee and a great selection of vegan treats
Always has friendly staff willing to explain/chat with you about their options. Its clear they watch out for the little things, too. Good place to study at and opens early
Love it! Ive been going there Sunday mornings for coffee or tea... if youre into coffee, tea or just want to work from a cool local spot, other than those big coffee chains (and you know who they are), Cheechs Own is def a cool spot. In addition to the coffee and tea they serve food as well. Personally I havent tried their food but its just another reason to go back; surely its good too! As a point to reference, my favorite tea there is Sticky Chai Tea, its silky smooth and flavorful... Enjoy!
Coffee is really great here. When they first opened, they were hesitant to make lattes. On my last visit, as per the owners suggestion, I ordered a tea and asked for honey. As of 1/9/19 they still do not offer honey. I can get honey at the competing coffee places in town, like Starbucks and Dragonfly Coffee Shop. Both of which also have great coffee and tea.
Taking a walk through the downtown for the first time when I saw the name of the shop & laughed. Had to stop in! Upon entering, the atmosphere was very warm & inviting. The acoustic music setup at the window-front further developed the shop’s hip and relaxed vibe. I ordered the classic: black w/ Stevia. So good! You get what you pay for here.
Great coffee, Kombucha on TAP! Lovely environment and friendly, professional staff. 10/10 recommend
Nice coffee place with a cool setting. Big selection of different brews. Need to try more things before a better judgement. But I will take anything over chains...
Have came here multiple times, and also have performed my poetry here. Have always had a great time (and great coffee) would highly recommend everyone to try😊
Best coffee and espresso drinks in the somerville area hands down!! Greate vibe inside for getting work done (only thing they need are seat cushions for those long work sessions 😂) pastries are amazing too and always have vegan/ dairy free/ gluten free options!!!
Great fresh coffee, best latte I ever had! People who work here are so kind and its got a great atmosphere with lots of big windows. Ill be coming around regularly!
Loveeeee this place, I visited for the first time on Sunday and absolutely loved it! The coffee was perfect and the customer service couldn’t be better.
This was our first visit and it was awesome! The. Cold brewed Indonisian was great and all of the gluten free bakery options were an added bonus. Well be back
The three of us visited Cheech’s own for the first time and were disappointed in our chai lattes. The one iced chai just tasted like milk, the one chai latte was just super spicy, and the other chai latte was hot water. For the price we expected much better.
Music is too loud! Coffee is good, decoration is nice but the loud music ruins the experience. Especially first thing in the morning.
Awesome place. Very friendly and helpful staff. One of their kombuchas was recommended to me and it was delicious. Definitely going back
The coffee is always really great and the atmosphere is Fantastic for working. The Baristas really know their stuff and they have a great selection of various pastries that are vegan and gluten-free which are pretty damn tasty. I cant wait to try their kombucha.
Had a great iced coffee. We also enjoyed a cheddar and basil scone which was delicious!
People are soo chill and the coffee slaps so hard. this is my girlfriend and i favorite spot to get coffee after a date. great music too
Excellent mocha latte! Made with real shaved chocolate (local too)! Lovely place to hang out.
Honeslty this is the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life! The cold brew is so tasty, so fresh and organic. I’m personally a huge fan of cold brew. I’ve tried it at so many different places from Starbucks to Dunkin’ Donuts and other coffee shops and this places cold brew is crazy good! The atmosphere is so comfortable and the staff is awesome! I would highly recommend Cheech’s own to all the coffee lovers out there, especially the cold brew coffee lovers. Such an awesome place!!
Got a large iced coffee black. It was poured out of their packaged cold brew bottles and mixed with water and shaken in a tumbler. The color is basically see through and just tastes like lightly flavored water. I was expecting something better than Dunkin donuts unfortunately what I got was just a more expensive version of it.
Makes Starbucks taste like Dunkin donuts. Awesome. Great for coffee lovers.
Been here a couple times and Ive never had a bad experience. Great coffee and service and interior is clean and quaint.
Outstanding atmosphere, cold brew, hot coffee and food options. The owners are present and hands on. Cool location and they have live music/comedy and poetry too. Place is spot on.
I thought this was a coffee shop. Tastes more like battery acid. Yuck! Glad I got a small.
Very hip and sleek vibe. I enjoyed my coffee, but it was pretty expensive for coffee.
Cool vibe, live music, great coffee and desserts. We love it. Get the whoopie pie.
