I am the owner of a Ferrari 355 Spider convertible with a failed potentiometer, Ferrari part #64978300. This part is a poorly made part of a safety system designed to prevent thousands of dollars of convertible top damage and to prevent the top from taking off your head. This part is not available anywhere on this planet and if you are a 355 Spider owner, you might have have done many unsafe workarounds to defeat this system. I fought with Ferrari for years and even made an NHTSA complaint that is on file. After five years I was about to give up but someone, I cant remember who, told me about O.D.D. Parts in Sonoma California. I called Jim, the proprietor, or more aptly, the artist and he informed me he created a fix for this impossible to find part. As he is just one and a half hours north of me, I decided to visit him personally and enjoy a day in beautiful Sonoma County. Then came the pandemic and one and a half hours became one and a half years. I finally visited his amazing workshop that is literally in an artists enclave and saw many of the parts he has rebuilt, refurbished or fabricated for many classic and exotic cars including multi-million dollars cars shown in Concours de Elegances. To say I was impressed is inadequate as these parts were all re-engineered better than new. He fixed my potentiometer on the spot for an extremely reasonable price, even more so when I am aware I cant get this part anywhere on the planet at any cost. When he was done we were given a golf cart tour of the property and neighboring artists and what started out as a part repair became a delightful adventure. We also visited with Jims protege, Matt, and it is comforting to know that the art of automotive part fabrication will be passed to another generation. I just finished installing the Ferrari part #64978300 into the seat and replaced the seat in the car and everything works perfectly and as it should. I could not be more pleased. While Jim does work fabricating parts for rare classic cars all over the world, not everybody lives in Northern California and will be as fortunate as I to visit his artists workshop in beautiful Sonoma but if you have a broken potentiometer in your Ferrari 355 spider, hes just a shipment away. He put an end to my five year nightmare and maybe he can put an end to yours too. Be sure to check O.D.D. Parts out.
