This is good old fashioned style of a hardware store where they want to help you find everything you are looking for.They even give you good advice on something you may be working on and having a little trouble figuring out a better way.

This place is great! The guys there are always so helpful and knowledgeable. These guys will tell you what they think you need even if they dont carry that item. The store isnt very big but they have a little bit of everything and what they dont have they can order. Most people dont know but they also have a huge supply of plumbing materials in the back and can help with that as well! The best part about the Builders Store is that it is locally owned and operated. This is my favorite place to shop for home repair and improvement. 😁👍👍

The Builders Store remains a bastion of Americana, tucked in the corner of an old fashioned commercial avenue, serving a neighborhood that has itself remained largely the same for the better part of a century. The staff are knowledgeable and perfectly helpful in both helping customers find what they need, and in offering expert advice on whatever projects brought them into the store. In an age where big box retail has largely rendered these stores extinct, the Builders Store is a treasure.

They are always attentive, willing to help and answer questions. I was able to have seven pieces of glass cut for window pane replacement.

Friendly place where they will help you find exactly what you need, at the same prices as big box stores but with superior service, and you can support a local small business.About 6 months back I was looking for a part to fix a dripping faucet, something I had never done before. After spending an hour each at Lowes and Home Depot with no results, it was suggested I try Builders Store. I was greeted as I came in the door and after a brief wait while they finished helping another customer, they helped me find the part I was looking for and figure out exactly which version I needed for my faucet. After talking for another minute to get some details about the problem I was having, they then told me that rather than buy the $15 stem kit I had asked for, I could just replace the seat washer on the stem for $3 and keep the stem. Worked perfectly and its become my go to hardware store from then on.

Best hardware store in the city. I have a history going back to the early 60s. Good to see a small business survive this long. Shop small business Saturday.

I have no idea why I or anyone else would go to home depot when the people there often times dont know anything. not even where items are. let alone complex questions.If you come here there will be several very wise gentlemen there to help. they cut keys which are perfect. they are super helpful & right in the neighborhood.Support small business & shop here.very cute building. nice signs painted on brick very small town feel with everything u need noting u dont

This is a very special place. Youre certain to find exactly what youre looking for, whether thats hardware, gardening supplies, tools or paint. However, what made me fall in love with this store is that the owners/employees are always friendly and willing to share their excellent advice with customers. Ive never been disappointed, and Ive learned a thing or two.

The Builders Store Do-it Best hardware is THE place to go in South Bend for all of your hdwr needs. The staff is always very helpful and quite knowledgeable on many subjects, and their prices are competitive. They also have convenient hours; open till 530 on weekdays and 1 on Saturday. Conveniently located on Mishawaka Avenue, this hdwr sells not only quality products, but great service as well!
