Service department is awful. It’s winter tire change over. I was having an oil change also. Came in first thing in the morning, was told about 1-1.5 hours wait. I’m still here and it’s been over 3 hours. I was told (along with other customers) that I needed rotors, pads totaling over 500.00. The car has barely over 30,000 miles. Also transmission leak which was under warranty. I had the warranty work done but not the brakes. Research shows Recommend brake/rotors work between 35,0000 - 70,000. My car stays in a garage and I drive like an old lady. I feel that possibly this week the workers were told, brake and rotor week. Go get em! Last time I came in and they did the same thing. I fell for it and paid out 500.00 in extra work. Never again. Wonder how many customers this place has lost because of this behavior. One thing for sure, they’ve lost me!

The whole staff goes above and beyond, and they were able to answer every question we had. Friendly service, comfortable waiting area if you choose to wait for your service appointment. Ryan was professional and honest. Im always wary when I go to a dealership, or any mechanic, that Ill be sold things I dont need. So, when he came to tell me about the additional services that were recommended by VW, my guard was up. I declined, so that I could do a bit of research first. Sure enough, the things he recommended were in fact due based on the age and mileage of my vehicle. More than anything, I appreciate honesty from car professionals, and Ryan passed.

I recently bought my first new car at this dealership and it was a great experience! I worked with Sam W. Sam was great to work with. She was kind, funny, and attentive. She had a no pressure sales approach and was very down to earth. Sam was very knowledgeable about many different vehicles not just Volkswagens.I would defiantly highly recommend Sam to anyone who is purchasing a vehicle.I think this dealership is lucky to have this women as part of their team.

Where do I even start. First and foremost I have never had a positive car buying experience. Until I met Sam at Shearer Volkswagen.I felt no pressure, and I didnt feel rushed. She made sure to walk me through everything along the way. She is extremely trustworthy. She listened to me. The dealership as a whole made the process easy. Sam was quick at responding and had great, clear communication which consisted of email, phone and in person conversations. No games were played at all. The final price was exactly as negotiated, the team worked with me on a price that work for me, understanding life happens, making sure I got into my “dream car.” Very thankful to be a now lifelong member of the Shearer family. My regular mechanic told me that my car would need specialized work that only the dealer could do, so I took my car in to Shearer and explained what had already been done. Apparently no one wrote down what I said, because they did an hour of diagnostics and suggested that I try what Id already done. Left with $130 less in my pocket and no progress on my car.When I asked the service consultant questions to try to understand why they couldnt look into the potential problem my regular mechanic had already flagged, he told me my regular mechanic had given me too much information. Is it better to keep your customers in the dark?

My husband & I went to Vermont last minute to look at a vehicle, at another location. We popped into Shearer, took a look around the lot & headed inside. Thats where we met Sam! Sam was friendly, very knowledgeable & was there for us the entire time. We looked at a brand new Tiguan & fell in love, and Sam helped make our first time buying a BRAND NEW vehicle so easy and enjoyable. I would return to Shearer VW and Sam again and again. Ryan in the service shop went above and beyond to make sure we were 100% satisfied with all aspects of the vehicle. I would recommend Shearer VW to everyone!

I recently purchased a certified used car from Shearer VW and dealt with Chris OConnell for the transaction. Chris was very friendly and helpful with the purchase side of things and the finance department was also pleasant and helpful when it came to completing the myriad of paperwork buying a car entails.I am opting for a 3-star review for the simple fact that the car I purchased had been previously owned by a smoker and pet owner and the car had not had an interior detailing service completed before I took delivery of the vehicle and this fact was not disclosed at any time during the process. Not having this knowledge up front, I presumed the smell I was detecting during the test drive to be the new car smell of a used car from this dealership as this was my first purchase here. Sadly, it was not - and as I suffer from pretty significant allergies to both smoke and pet hair/dander, I had to pay to have the interior of my car detailed (including seat and headliner washing) so I could be in it without my eyes swelling shut from an allergy attack. This of course caused further issue as the seat washing adversely affected my passenger airbag dash notification icon and I had to bring it in to the service department for a diagnostic check (which I paid for) only to be informed that I shouldnt have had water touch the seat as it may have damaged the sensor, which I would then have to replace. For the price, I think the car should have been cleaned before taking delivery - or at least disclosure about the previous owners smoking in and having pets in the car should have occurred.I have also now purchased seat covers and a cargo liner and the staff in the parts department have been exceptionally helpful.All in all, I am happy... I just wish I could have been happier.10/19/2021 Service Review - 4 Stars - I recently brought my car in for a service, which included a brake review. For this review, it was determined that I needed new front brakes and rotors. When I came to pick up the car I spoke with Austin about this charge and I explained that I felt that I shouldnt be liable for the brake charges as the car had been in my possession for less than three months and I had put only 751 miles on the car since I took delivery of the car. After some back and forth, Austin was able to remove those charges from my bill, for which I was very grateful.Overall, I was pleased with my recent service experience.

I had such a pleasant experience working with Sam Williams on the purchase of my new Tiguan. Its not an easy time to be purchasing or leasing right now due to inventory shortages everywhere, cars are hard to find and they sell QUICK when they become available. Even with those added complications, Sam was instrumental in helping me find an option that would work best for me and my family, staying within my budget. She has checked in multiple times since the sale, knowing that I am still getting used to a car with way more tech than my previous vehicle, and I appreciate that so much as a consumer. When I was having trouble connecting my vehicle to the app on my phone, service was calling me to help within seconds of my conversation with Sam. All around great customer service, plus shes not pushy with her sales at all, just easy going and down to earth which is exactly what I was hoping to find. I have driven around the country a lot, and had my car serviced at numerous VW dealerships from coast to coast, but Shearer stands out as particularly on their game. Anyone you talk to is courteous and astute. Ryan in service is excellent – professional and communicative, yet laid back and comfortable to work with. Im in the Burlington area often, and if my car needs work, Ill always bring it to them. When it comes time to replace my Tiguan, this will likely be where I go.

I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service provided by both Austin Hemmingway and Shearer VW on my first ever visit.We purchased our 2013 Jetta wagon from a southern N.H. non-VW dealer. I had read previous horror stories about dealers not having parts in stock and not wanting to honor the VW diesel extended warranty. I recently leased a 2022 Tiguan SE R line black and I worked with Matt. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable about the vehicle and also the process of leasing. This is my first lease and I had a lot of questions. At no point did I feel I was being rushed, pressured or that my questions weren’t being fully answered. Matt took the time to talk about the different vehicles, the options I had and helped me find the perfect vehicle in my price range. Throughout the process I was in constant communication with Matt and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. In addition he took the time to show me every aspect of the vehicle and how things worked so I could get everything set up and be comfortable and confident. My car was scheduled for a software update. Between making the appointment and bringing it in, another problem arose. As it was a Saturday, they werent sure they would be able to fix it, but luckily they were. My car was ready within an hour. Very pleasant and easy experience. Lizzy was great to work with!

Truly horrendous experience, which is unfortunate because Ive had very positive experiences here before. Suffice it to say my vehicle was returned to me in much worse condition than I brought it in. Brought it in for a sunshade repair, was returned to me with engine clanging, paint chipping off the front and I ended up with two broken front coils(had to get it towed), flat tire, sunroof leaking and now the check engine light is on AGAIN. When I spoke to customer service about these numerous issues, they tried to get me in ASAP (two weeks later) and when asked about how it might have happened they brushed it off like it was normal wear and tear. Seems like an odd coincidence. Unfortunate because Ive enjoyed service here in the past, but now feels very untrustworthy. Not to mention I dont trust my vehicle.

We commented later that we felt like it was one of the least complicated and easiest car buying experiences we had ever encountered and we do trade our vehicles every 3 to 4 years. Our salesperson, Sam Williams, was super helpful and friendly. She listened to what we were looking for and, although we ended up buying a model that was slightly different than what we thought we wanted, she was more than willing and happy to accommodate us. She spent a good deal of time with us on the lot looking at many different models of the vehicle we were most interested in. This past year our elderly Golf TDI had been having an increasing number of problems. We brought it to Shearer VW for a thorough diagnostic exam. I went to change my tires and update a few filters, and during the rainy day they observed my windshield wipers were not doing a good job so they even fixed those for me! Our one service experience here has me decided that I dont want to own another VW in Vermont because of how bad the customer service was. My partner spent over 2 hours repeatedly having to explain the problem to different service reps. And the real winner was when a service rep told her that other mechanics had given her too much information. Entire experience was a waste of time and money.

Honestly the best car dealership I have worked with. I have always serviced my cars with certified dealerships and purchased only through official dealerships. My experiences have definitely been varied, with some pretty good but also some appallingly bad. Shearer has surprised me with amazing customer service both in dealing with the sales department and with the service department.My first car was an Acura, followed by an absolute lemon of a Chevy. Andrew at Shearer VW helped me get out of my Chevy and into a VW lease. I’ve never leased before, so I had a lot of questions and definitely needed some convincing to go that route. Andrew was super transparent and actually listened to my questions / concerns to help me figure out what was right for me, which ultimately (to my surprise) was a lease. I never felt pressured, even when I decided to walk away to think on it for a few days.I would highly recommend Shearer VW (& specifically Andrew!) to anyone considering buying or leasing a VW.The service department at Shearer is also great. I usually work with Ryan and it’s always a pleasant experience! I have only been in a handful of times for routine service like winter / summer tire changes, but it’s a smooth process and I never have trouble making an appointment within a few days.

I hate the whole car buying experience. If I could I would order my car online, have it delivered, and be done with it. Having said that, this was my first ever VW purchase and it was very simple and not at all annoying. I pre-ordered an ID.4 and paid my deposit. The dealership contacted me not long after the initial deposit was made to introduce themselves and then sent a few updates along the way. Once the car was ready we made an appointment, went in to finalize paperwork and payment. As compared to my recent experiences with two local Toyota dealers, this transaction was pure pleasure. It was relatively quick, no games played and no hard sales pitch for unwanted extras.

I highly recommend Hillary at Shearer VW of South Burlington. Before I went in, I called and told her what I was looking for. I had been on the search for a new vehicle and after a couple weeks I wasn’t getting far… Other salespeople were lying to me about what they had in stock, they were unprofessional, rude, and they flat out wasted my time. Hillary at Shearer was the absolute opposite. When I arrived she was ready for our appointment, she had the car I wanted to test drive pulled around, and was friendly to me the entire time. I did not feel rushed, I did not feel pressured to make a decision, I asked questions to her and her team and they answered every single one without making me wait. I was in and out with a new vehicle within 5 hours. Even though I have already bought the car and I am at home now, she gave me her number to ask questions I may have about the vehicle and she responds almost right away with the answer. It’s here! We picked up our 2021 VW ID.4 AWD Pro S on Friday October 8, 2021 from Shearer VW of Burlington. We couldn’t be more pleased with The Shearer team headed by Dave Swartz. I cant say enough about my buying experience with Sam Williams of Shearer VW. She was responsive, timely with information, played none of the typical car buying games, and made the entire process EASY. Sam recognized that I wanted to communicate by phone, text and email; and knew that I was not interested in driving to VT to buy a car. She never once tried talking me into coming to the dealership - for the almighty Sales Manager Power Close. I have previously not been the biggest fan of Shearers service department, but my last experience there was fantastic. I went for and inspection and an oil change, while it wasnt quite in and out, it was all done quickly. Lizzie, my Service Advisor gave great feedback and let me know what service was due, and some other things I needed done.

Chris O’Connell was our sales agent and he was fantastic! We spoke through email clear and to the point about the car we were interested in. We agreed on a price and he emailed me all the info I needed and had all of the paperwork ready when we arrived at the dealership. It was a busy day at Shearer Volkswagen when we were there but someone greeted us as soon as we arrived and we waited a very short period of time to sit down and sign paperwork for our new to use Jetta! Chris took the time to show us all the ins and outs of the car and has texted or emailed me a couple of times since the purchase to be sure we are still happy with the car and that things are going well. The dealership was clean, staff was very friendly and I felt like we got the best deal on our car!

Went in for a ad blue service light Ryan helped me out squeezed me in for a quick and painless service. While service was happening I went into show room curious about the new electric cars. Tom rykr answered all my questions and more and I was able to go for a test drive all while my car was being serviced! Lizzie greeted me as soon as I announced my name when I came in for service. She reviewed the list of service needs I wanted done. She said it should take about 2 hours and I was pleased it was complete in less time.The waiting room is set up for safe seating and distancing. I also witnessed an employee sanitizing door knobs and areas around the waiting room. Each person at Shearers including the people waiting were all wearing masks. There were snacks and beverages available if any one wanted something. Thank you for the personal service.

2020 Atlas Cross SportMy wife and I bought a 2020 Cross Sport a couple months ago. Kristin Thayer was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the car. We appreciated her quick responses and felt she really cared about our needs. Not once did we feel like we were pushed into something or pressured to buy. I had the best experience here thanks to Paul Hatfield! He is genuine, knowledgeable, and down to earth - everything you could hope for and more in a car salesman. As a young woman there for my first new car purchase/lease I was nervous of those classic dealership stereotypes but he completely blew those out of the water. I could tell right away he just wanted to help me find what made me happy! He asked the right questions, listened to me, and found me the perfect car - at an honest & reasonable price. I was fully prepared to negotiate but there was no need to. Paul took such great care of me that I will have a really hard time going anywhere else in the future.

I brought my car in to get a repair done on my transmission, and to have a skid plate put on, as well as have an oil problem investigated. Ryan Maxwell was excellent to communicate with both this time, and the appointment I had prior to have a recall and some warranty repairs resolved. He ensures that the labor was completed in a timely manor, helped me set up a plan to moniter oil consumption, and went a step further to have my inspection done for me. Ryan took care of us at the service desk Thursday April8th,2021. He was quick to take our vehicle, asked if had any concerns, quoted us the price( which in the end came to $0 since we have a package on our vehicle) and checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable in the waiting area. Sales agent Sam was amazing, kept up on us to make sure we didnt need anything, took a special interest in our dog whom we brought with us and definitely made us feel welcomed . Had we been in the market for another vehicle she is exactly the sales girl i would choose !
