Theres something about this location that makes it THE go-to spot for groceries. Its always clean and organized so you can find your way around easily, but also have peace of mind due to the absence of clutter. The selection is impressive for the grocery side, but the prepared foods side is RIDICULOUSLY delicious. Do not sleep on that pizza or the stromboli, but try one of the abnormally large sub sandwiches if youre feeling frisky.

Love the how clean and organized the store is. This trip was to purchase a flower arrangement. Love how fresh and beautiful the flowers are.

It is a very vanilla big y. Im personally not very comfortable shopping here. The selection is okay. The deli always smells so disgusting Im not sure if its the cleaning solution or what they are doing wrong but its enough to gag you.

You can’t have an attitude and not have the product!! Pick one!! It be nice to have a selection from the bakery in the morning but the baker is slower than cold molasses 🤦🏾. A couple weeks now I haven’t been able to get my donuts... maybe my doctor is behind that counter 😂

Generally a positive experience every time, especially with bottle redemption when maintenance is needed to empty machine. Usually a young person with quick response, speedy service and I am glad to see the smile with the service. On this last grocery run though, it seemed at least 2-3 aisles had carts filled with stock completely unattended (which can happen) but they had no attempt to be moved to the side as possible. As I had gone back and forth with aisles they seemed to stay unattended as is for an unreasonable time. But consistently I do like to go to my local store.

Asked at the last day for a special order.I spoke to 2 different people one man one female. I asked for a cheesecake( you sell plain) in the case to be altered. I asked for strawberries. The first guy wasnt sure, he put me on the phone with someone who understood immediately what I wanted.We ate some hours after picking it up?Was PERFECT!! whoever was in the bakery Friday August 7th? Kudos!! We are still enjoying it, may come Monday for another!!They outdid THEMSELVES!! It was delicious. She understood and made it happen fast. Which I needed.Thank you big y.See you tomorrow

I went to Big Y in South Hadley, and had ordered a pizza. When we got the pizza I took a bite of a slice that had a curly, blonde hair in it. I picked it apart, and found a second hair (curly, and blonde). I am so angry, and disgusted. I will never be returning to eat that pizza again.

Ive found myself shopping here more frequently because of the quality, cleanliness, and excellent service. There is no arguing they are more expensive than most of their competitors but, as with most things, you get what you pay for.

First time here amazingly clean in order love it try the stuff crab w shrimp and scallops dish its a take 15 min in the air fryer you would think you went to a restaurant my new go too

I grocery shop from many grocers but I try to support a locally owned business & there are a handful of items I only get at nearby Big Y. Today as I exited the store I watched a head-in-clouds 50-something guy waltz past the masked clerk counting-admitting patrons with his gator mask rolled down as an after thought too busy fiddling his ear buds. I said hey mask first ear-buds later...nothing. when I asked same clerk did you see that she said we cant enforce since its not a law. Poor Governor Baker & all the predominantly older shoppers at that store. The printed, large sign at the door clearly outlines State & local regs....masks required. South Hadley has the ordinance posted on its website under Public Health. A store can refuse entry. Perhaps its managements choices? I can shop elsewhere. Good thing some front line workers wear face shields, & masks at minimum.

Love this location! I had a wonderful experience this evening when I stopped at the bakery to place an order for a birthday cake. Instead of just handing me the form to fill out, the gentleman working in that dept. took the time to talk to me about exactly what I need, filling out the form for me as we chatted. And then when I changed my mind about the cake size after leaving the store, I called and spoke to the same gentleman in the bakery. He remembered me and said he would absolutely make that change for me right away. Excellent customer service from a very personable employee! Please give this young man a special accolade!

I dont usually post anything, let alone a review. But, was there today for the first time. Since I got a gift card, and I shop at another big name location, I went to get a few things. I gotta say A+ on neatness and cleanliness. Every employee was either doing something( their jobs) or helping a customer. Keep doing what youre doing and Ill be a customer for a long time. The one less star was the prices. I thought compared to others they were a bit more expensive. And since myself had a good experience (so far) the price difference may be overlooked. But overall a great experience.

My favorite! The employees are friendly and kind, its typical for them to chat with my kids during checkout. Good selection of produce. Also I like getting $0.25 off gas just for my regular grocery shopping. I love that they dont use plastic bags. I finally got reusable ones and theyre useful for way more than grocery shopping. Super cheap too!

A clean and great place to shop. I havent been much since they remodeled so Im still getting used to where things are, but overall always a nice experience shopping here. And its in a very convenient location too!

With Stop and Shop on strike we have no other food store. The Big Y was packed probably with all of the Stop and Shop customers. Was so happy to see EVERY SINGLE register was open! Thank you Big Y!!!! I was in and out in minutes. I have to say that Big Ys bakery is much better than Stop and Shops. Plus, I really do like the hot take out food.

Came in on the Saturday Evening of Mother’s Day to get some fried seafood for a couple of Moms who had put in a long hard day of work. The seafood department had just one employee, and we saw a couple other patrons place orders for fried food as well. After waiting patiently, we ordered four meals. We were more than a little surprised by the employee’s reaction. Instead of thanking us for our order, or explaining that there might be a little bit of a wait, he launched into an accusatory diatribe about how he ‘is only one person, and can’t handle taking orders, cooking fish, and providing people with fresh seafood all at once’. Between being exhausted and so taken aback, I admittedly didn’t respond very well. I would never allow one of my employees to treat our customers this way. I understand being busy. My entire day had been no different. I also acknowledge that the employee probably didn’t have much control over the inappropriate level of staffing in his department. However, his attitude about it was so incredibly unprofessional and infuriating. To make matters even worse, we got home and found that the two whole clam dinners we ordered were under cooked. The majority of the clams were covered in partially raw batter, making the meals inedible. After this, I think I’ll just make the drive to Stop & Shop for my groceries and to Webster’s the next time I want fish for dinner.

Clean, well stocked. Fresh produce. Local asparagus. Had to go to the customer service desk where I was treated courterously and taken care of quickly. Finished my shopping. Asked where an time was and was given an accurate reply. Specials were advertised and well stocked. Had a quick lunch from their sub/sandwich/pizza area. There is an area to sit and eat that is set aside from the main shopping area. Tables and floors were clean but trash needed to be changed. Deli had specials, staff was quick and pleasant. All around a good shopping experience. A bit more expensive than other chains but still my grocery store of choice. Can add to savings by shopping specials and buying store brand products.

I go to the Big Y mainly because I like Cheryl at the Pharmacy. Shes very nice and takes good care of her customers. I like the store because the customer service is very good. Over the years Ive gotten to know some of the staff whom I like very much. The products can be expensive, but there are so many great deals including buy 1 get 2 free been so many specials that the prices are offset. Im happy to be a customer.

Im over 90 years old and grocery shopping isnt exactly a joy walking up and down the long isles. This Big Y store is a more than pleasant experience from the managers to the employees. Special mention to the bakery where they greet you with smiles and all the hugs youll ever need to make your shopping experience a pleasant one. When my wife hands me a shopping list, even at my age, Im pleased to go thanks to the Big Y and its personnel. PS this should get me a gold coin. Amen and God Bless.

This is a fairly good place to shop if youre looking to run in and out for items you need. There isnt much variety, but I find it is a good trade off for the speed of getting the groceries I need. I havent spent more than 20 minutes at a time in the market at each visit. Sometimes it all depends on the time of week due to how many shoppers are there at a time. This can slow the time. This is a good place to shop when youre in a hurry.

I love Big Y! Of course right now there shelves are getting bare but so is every other store.

I went to big y to cash in some bottles and cans for some spending money. When I went inside the store, it was very clean and look very upscale. I took a lap around the store and noticed they had a large section of prepared foods, produce and meat department. though I did like the store I did notice the prices were quite high and I dont go there very often.

Always find what Im looking for. If I dont, I ask a salesperson and within minutes I get what need. A high quality product at price that is unbeatable. Everyone has there own opinion on where to shop for food and other products, in my family everyone shops at World Class Big Y!!!

Every single time I go into this particularly big Y, I have a negative experience. The woman who works in the pizza department is never nice to deal with. As the cashiers. I have reconsidered my locations for big Y and the Ludlow one exceeds in customer service and being welcoming. I’ll talk that extra 20 min drive to Ludlow rather than deal with the employees at this location.

Clean and well stocked. The butcher shop and seafood Dept. are always helpful and good quality. The best thing about Big Y is that checking out is always easy because theres always plenty of cashiers and baggers. They dont offer a self-scan option because its an inconvenience to make you scan and bag your own items, and that takes more time!Bring your own bags because they no longer pollute the earth with plastic one time use bags. You can purchase paper bags if needed.

Hey everybody. Austin here. Rough night for myself and my boys during the December 1st snowstorm, we come here for our pizza because they are very delicious, one thing though is that the worker serving pizza is a real B word... excuse my language, I’m disappointed

11 am, Tuesday, November 12. Picked up scallops and seafood cooked dinner. 2 items. Express lane closed. All other registers had customers with large orders. Asked 2 supervisors standing near closed express lane for help. They told me to go to service desk. Went to service desk and waited more than 5 minutes for a woman to fill out a form for Big Y app. Mary waited while woman filled out form. I gave up and went back to the long register lines. It had to take 15 minutes to get out of Big Y for 2 items. They often have express aisle closed. Terrible.

Big y is one of my favorite stores to shops for food and groceries. They always have great deals, which is good for shoppers on a budget. A very clean store, and organized too.

I wish i could of found the large eclairs not the mini ones. I got some nice kielbasa and daisy ham to bring home. The bigy brand cold cuts will make good sandwhiches on their Kaiser rolls for our trip back home. I didnt find their brand soda and coke was too high but we wanted and got it.

Tried sending a western union and the manager NICOLE at customer service accused me of using/trying to buy a fake ID.

I like the place. Very nice people. But however, I bought coffee today and when I finished it up, there was a clear piece of silicone type thing in the bottom of my cup. I felt it in my mouth. Talk about physical contamination.

I love my South Hadley Big Y......I have yet to meet an employee who was not cheerful, kind, and helpful. On October 19 I accidentally dropped my soda. What a mess! The cashier handled the situation with ease: closing down her lane, calling for cleanup, replacing my wet newspaper, and much more. I believe it was the store manager who offered to get me a refill drink. I wrote this review to acknowledge with gratitude the wonderful service that the South Hadley Big Y employees provide each and every day-your teamwork is seamless.

I wish I could give it five stars, because the location is extremely convenient for me and usually, things are reasonably priced and of good quality; also staff are always very welcoming and helpful. But I don’t know what changed over the summer? Maybe the hot weather makes it difficult to preserve produce quality? I’ve got several spoiled produce within “the best use date” during the last trip. Examples would be a perfectly looking onion - only to find out half of it already turned black and spoiled after I cut it open and a cup of “freshly cut” watermelon - tastes sour and fermented well before the best use date. In the past, I’ve come across several boxes of strawberries with mold. But can’t really blame big y on this, because strawberry is a different beast... Overall, I was surprised and a bit disappointed about my last trip.I didn’t give it 1 star because of the past positive experience there, good prices, as well as other items that are working and taste okay. But now I’m starting to be a bit unsure how much I could trust the produce there after the recent experience. I will try again; but I hope I don’t find multiple items spoiled in one grocery trip for multiple times...
