Kyle was able to diagnose and fix my master slave cylinder issue in a matter or days. Saved me hundreds, as I thought the clutch was completely shot. I called them up for an appt. (yes, i had to wait a while to get in...big deal) If your job requires immediate attention, take it elsewhere. Being the only 4X4 shop left on the hill, Id imagine it gets backed up. Tahoe Diesel was recommended by an old school local, whom I trust. Certain things I do on my own (fluid flushes), so I dont know much about those experiences here. The work that I had done, I opted not to do, so I had to go with the flow/things. I will take this rig back, if I run into anything thats beyond my abilities, no problem at all. Dont be a butt, realize that youre the one who needs help, act accordingly, and all should be fine. Kim was pleasant and so was Kyle on the multiples conversations that we had. Terrible service, slow, and extremely rude. Booked an appointment a week in advance for first thing in the morning. Show up at 9am and not a single bay has been opened up. Walk into the office to check in and they had no idea why I was there. When pulling up my info i was told they were just supposed to take a look at the car? I booked the appointment a week in advance specifically for a radiator flush, diff fluid changes, and an oil change... then when asking for an ETA of when to expect my vehicle some old man whom I wasnt even speaking too yells out ALL DAY to get me out of the office. I said it takes all day to change some fluids? Its a 40 minute job. Dude tells me to do it myself than..... this place is a joke, go elsewhere in South Lake Tahoe

Absolutely the rudest business ever dealt with. Made appointment weeks in advance with owner Jim with time and duration of repairs, as i was leaving for vacation the day after agreed upon completion. Brought RV in as I committed. Called Kyle to arrange pickup he stated it would not be ready for another week and they just tore into it. When describing the time frame for completion and got angry. Said I should come and get it as he was going to put it back together, then hung up on phone. Called owner he said they had miscommunication offered no option or apology.These folks should not be in business at all.

These guys are my favorite place to go in South Lake because of their attitude, fairness, and guidance in car repair. Fair prices, and great work. They simply do what you ask and thoroughly check-out any issues you bring up. Also, I found out I was doing something very wrong with the operation of my vehicle, and they were very nice about explaining how I could have damaged my car, and told me what to do to prevent that in the future.

This place never heard of a Johnny joint which is on all high quality lift kits.He got rude with me due to his lack of education of a 4wd. Johnny joints have been out for over 20 years. Don’t go hear if your stranded

While traveling from San Francisco to South Lake Tahoe for vacation, our car broke down about 40 miles away— our worst nightmare! The driver from D&O towing via AAA named Nick recommended Tahoe Diesel, said he’d known them a long time and they were good and honest. We dropped the car off to Judy who was very nice around 3:30pm. They closed at 5 and by 8:30am next day, Kyle called today that our car was fixed and ready to go! No runaround, no BS.... they were just honest and delivered a fantastic job! Saved our vacation!

I arrived on Tuesday Morning May 26, 2020 8:10am. My truck was towed to this shop from a breakdown while towing our camper home for what was hopefully an emergency repair to get me back on the road. I was told the following: If we can look at it, it will be late this afternoon and We cant promise we have the time to fix it... Now I understand with all the craziness in the world things have changed. Fortunately another local business owner assisted me with relocating my truck to Standard Diesel in Gardnerville where they performed the analysis in the same time it took Tahoe Diesel to tell me to move on... the truck was repaired in one hour!

Thanks Tahoe Diesel!! So I spent two weeks getting bad information about smog from a smog shop in town. I bought an E-350 V10 from Carson City. I was told to go through the drive cycle by the smog shop tech/owner?, because of a recent battery replacement. I finally did my research after driving 700 miles and discovered I have an OBD-1 van. I took it back to the smog shop anticipating a quick smog due to the new information, but I was told to drive it more. I told him it was an OBD-1 van. He berated me about how he knows all and this couldnt ever be an OBD-1, because theres this here OBD-2 port that both of us are using to read the monitors. I then took it the christensens automotive who told me what I had already discovered. Its an OBD-1 rig. Christensens told me to take it to Tahoe Diesel Service and theyd take care of me right quick, which is exactly what they did. I now have a California license plate and can move on with my life! Thank you for your quick, prompt and knowledgeable service. I will recommend Tahoe Diesel Service to all!

They are the only ones in town who are capable of getting parts for my car, and the only ones I allow to touch it. They are timely and very professional in their work, and I would recommend them highly.

Tried to get an emissions test taking care of here mechanic wouldnt even hook it up he was bragging about his experience how long hes been doing this Im telling you your truck will never pass said my fuel system was missing parts charcoal canister I got under the truck and immediately behind the fuel tank there it was. Most definitely dont go to these people for animations they dont know what theyre doing as far as diesel work I have no idea but I would probably look elsewhere

Staff is kind of abrupt. DO YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT? no, I..YOU NEED AN APPOINTMENT. Ect. I mad an appointment, shouting through the crack in the door, but decided not to come back. I get that youre mechanics, but you could really give a *hit about people in general.

Was referred here by another mechanic who was too busy to see us when our van started overheating and dumping water and coolant. They ran a diagnostic on us, then booked us in for the following day for a full cooling system replacement. Really happy with the service we received and the van is running perfectly again - much better than only being able to drive for 5 minutes at a time! Really helped make a stressful time while on a vacation road trip a lot more manageable.

I had a major power steering issue and called these guys and took it in on a Wednesday morning. Had to replace just about all my power steering system. They had my truck finished Friday afternoon. Completely impressed with their mechanics and entire staff. I was quoted $750 and they got me out the door for under $600 in 48 hours. Fantastic staff with amazing knowledge of Toyota 4x4s, originally went in months ago for a smog and was so impressed with their walk through on my truck when they told me my power steering had major issues. Sure enough it failed big time months later. I will always return for any mechanical needs again. Very impressed. Thank you from a Tahoe local!

These people saved our lives last week!When we had a serious vehicle problem (needed brakes) we talked to andwe were referred by a gentleman waiter at our hotel who took his own vehicle there!Husband called, got an appointment date, took the car in 12 hours early just too be sure. When he took the car in, Tim called the parts companies in town, made sure they had the necessary parts for all repairs. Plus this company is certified with our insurer, AAA.The next day we called around lunch time, the work was done, our vehicle was ready! We picked it up and have been driving it steadily since that day. (Including an almost 600 mile drive to get home!)Wonderful service, very reasonable rates and all around VERY nice people!! I was camping in South Lake Tahoe and scheduled to leave the next day when we noticed that fuel was dripping from the underside of our truck and we could smell fuel while driving. They saw me immediately and were able to get the parts in 20 minutes and installed them right there on the spot. No waiting or anything. They were extremely helpful and respectful. Had me back on the road in less then an hour.

Horrible service. Do not take your vehicle here. My 1st vehicle Tim the owner told me I needed a new $14,000 diesel engine. Capital Ford in Carson city repaired it for $2,500.This 2nd time I took my Ford F350 diesel down there it sat in their parking lot for 10 days without them doing a one hour repair on a fuel injector. Tim the owner is a liar he told me they were working on my truck when in fact it was in the back lot Blocked by 3 other vehicles.

I would GIVE IT LESS THAN 1 STAR IF I COULD!!! I made an appointment over a week ago. When I arrive at 9am... two gentlemen were working. The larger gentlemen ask the younger gentlemen to put my stuff in the computer. I asked about how long it would be to change the differential fluid on my jeep and he said 2 hours. This is about a 20 minute job, but I said ok after having an appointment for a week. I went back two and a half hours later the same larger gentlemen was sitting on a yoga ball in the waiting area(very small) speaking to a secretary or assistant. I ask if my Jeep was done and he said I believe so but give me 5-10 minutes to check. I walked outside and looked in my Jeep and the diff. fluid was still in the passenger seat. I then went back I and he was still sitting on a Yoga ball talking to the assistant. I said well I just looked in the jeep and the fluid is still there so its not done!! He said well it will be a couple of more hours then!I then asked for my keys back and left without any apology from them about wasting my time and half day! The customer Service is very poor..... not sure if the mechanics are any good, but I will not be finding out!! I will be contact AAA, NAPA AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS TO LET THEM AND PEOPLE KNOW..... DO NOT USE THIS PLACE AS IT IS A DIVE/DUMP!! Very unprofessional!!Also it will not let you post a comment on their website and always goes back to excellent!! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE

I give this place one star mostly due to poor communication between owner and his employees. Then from the employees to the consumer. Took my truck in to see if control arm bushings could be replaced. Tim recommended that two of the bushings were cracked and need replaced. Also noticed that the cv boots were shot and needed replaced. I told him let’s get it fixed now that I know what needs replaced. My truck sat for five days without any work being done. When I called in to see the what progress had been done, an associate mentioned were not quite sure what you were trying to fix. Was it the exhaust he replied?? Non the less, five days passed with no work done, and to mention no one called to let me know of the situation. Poor service, I’d recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else.

So I had heard that the snow was coming here in Tahoe and was told awhile ago by another shop that I needed outer tie rods so I figured I better get this done before the snow hits. I originally went to the shop that told me I needed them and they couldnt get me in because they didnt have the parts. I called another place and they couldnt get me in. I remembered Tahoe four wheel drive because I got an oil change there before so I called them. They were super friendly on the phone, and they said they could get me in right away. They gave me a ride to a nearby shopping center so I could kill time while they were doing the repairs and they came and got me when my vehicle was ready. Overall, it was a good experience and they were under the quote I received from the other place! I will come back and I will recommend to a friend!

These guys did a heck of a job replacing my blown transmission on my Ford pickup. The shop manager even worked on Thanksgiving so I could get it on Friday. Thanks again guys

Watched multiple friends deal with issues here. Makes up problems to charge for fake repairs. Says theyre working on the vehicle as we speak although youre sitting the the parking lot looking at you car not being worked on for hours. Vehicle sits in the parking lot for days not being worked on when they tell you its a few hour repair. If you fix parts yourself, they end up forgetting to mention the other issue so when you return for your smog check or other simple thing, they create another problem so they can try to get more cash out of you to fix something that isnt even an actual problem. Acts like they have to do brain surgery to reset your check engine light when simply disconnecting your battery does just that. Scammers trying to scam the wrong people. Dont waste your time and money on this place.

I went there for my smog inspection to have my SUV tested for DMV. Theres hardly any wait the times Ive been there They are off of Tahoe Blvd. On Tahoe, CA side. Fun ppl to talk with.

Basically they dont care about you or your car but pretend to sometimes. & they wont be thorough or check the work & break stuff & lie about how long it takes to fix & put it off. Ok 2 stars for replacing the gas tank that got wrecked by accident there. 😆 Something else broken after i just got it back. I just took it back in because some stuff broken after it was fixed. GULP. i have to take it back again. I already was freaking out over waiting 2 months when i was told it would be about a week or less. 5 hours labor took 2 months. 😔😆 It was the dishonesty about it, not the actual time. i never got calls about time passing or when it was done. 😲 Nor did i get a call the 2nd time it was done. 😨 Why cant they check everything before they give it back? So weird. ☻

Stopped by there this morning at 8:00 to have my Jeep smogged - doors locked, waited 20 minutes, still nobody. Left and came back only to be told they only do smog tests Monday thru Friday. Hmmm, does their website mention that? They just lost my business...

Made an appointment to get my car smoged and had to request some time off of my job to get it done becuse i work monday through friday 8-5 and when I went in to get it done they told me they couldnt do it now im out a day of work and my car still isnt smoged. They didnt even bother to notify me that my appointment was cancelled, vary unprofessional.

I was having trouble smogging my Jeep Grand Cherokee when changing title and plates from Nevada to California. The gentlemen at Tahoe 4-Wheel Drive were not only curtious and respectful but they had fixed the problem, smogged my Jeep and had me on my way in an hour and for $90.00!!! The next day I was all set with the DMV and rollin legal!!! Thanks guys! I will never take my car anywhere else - you ROCK!Everywhere else was quoting me in the $300-$500 range.-Janine
