I would like to give this shop 5 stars but the tech that fitted my boots did not adjust the cant so I almost crashed several times trying to get back to the car to get the adjusting wrench out of the box in the van. I asked him to adjust the cant on the boot and he poo pooed my request. I knew better. Be careful when you get your boot fitted at this place. Great salesmen sold me skis and bindings along with the boots. Almost ruined my ski trip. I’ll be going back to tell them in person.
So happy with these guys. This weekend was their big sale and we got back to town too late on Sunday, cruised by on Monday and they let us still shop the sale! Johnna (might be spelled wrong) was awesomesauce helping us with helmets and glasses. Dana was so awesome to let us in and get what we needed! Thanks guys!!!
Customer service doesn’t exist here - I gave them many chances and not one employee ever has been helpful, always seemed bothered or preoccupied talking to coworkers - or they love running into the back stock when they see a customer, instead of greeting them. This is why these store are going out of business- from now on I’ll just shop online - even had an employee- short older lady with short brown hair walk into me twice while I was holding my baby, she never even excused herself. Just an awful place to shop, with useless employees.

Me and my friends went to the store less than two weeks ago and the costumer service was terrible. We got to the store half hour after they opened and they said they were all out of our size of snowboard boots for renting, we were trying to make it work with the sizes that they gave us and we were being really understanding with the fact that they didn’t had our sizes, which was completely fine, but the entirely time it didn’t look like they wanted to help us at all. We ended up getting a bigger size since we had already paid for it and while me and friends were talking about who was gonna wear which one since they were a little bigger, you know just trying them on to see which one fits better, one of the guys that work there literally told us “is take it or leave it” which was extremely rude, even because we called the store a day before and they said we did NOT had to make any reservations and we were there literally half hour after they opened and there’s no costumers at all at the store the whole time we were there, and not even to mention that is not ski/snowboard season anymore, so it kinda looked like they just didn’t wanna help us at all.
Top notch customer service at BlueZone. Treat these guys with respect and they will take care of you as a customer. I’m a South Lake Tahoe local living in the Keys and always my go-to for everything snow and wake.
We rented ski equipment and found everyone to be extremely friendly and helpful. This will definitely be our go to for rentals going forward! They also had a great selection of ski gear and clothing. The staff were very helpful in finding the perfect helmet and goggles for my 6 year old. We will be back!
Staff was friendly and very helpful. We will definitely rent from them again. They went above and beyond to size us correctly and make sure we got the proper equipment for our needs.
Go here if you want your ski boots to fit you. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, efficient and attentive.I have very wide feet and I’ve had a lot of trouble finding the right boot. Dana worked with me to find a fit that I didn’t even think was possible
Dana, Dylan, and the rest of the staff are all knowledgeable and helpful with your ski, bike, and water sports needs. Save your time shopping around and go here first to get everything at a good deal.
Dylan was incredible with my boot fitting today! Can’t wait to get these boots out on the mountain. I’d recommend without reservation :)
Dana helped me out a ton - my carbon bike handlebars broke - bought them elsewhere by the way - and he very promptly found me a replacement in his parts bin!Thank you Sir!
Dillon was very patient, helpful and knowledgeable on the different backcountry boots available in the store. He took the time to share with me each of the options features and allow me enough time to really feel into each boot. I came in looking for an atomic boot but may have been convinced otherwise today. Ill definitely be back to fit my boots and get custom insoles made
I have been a local since 1990 and have visited several times and always feel very uncomfortable. I’m either followed around and or employees assume I can’t afford anything or don’t enjoy or engage in any outdoor activities. I know this place is capable of providing positive experiences for others based on previous reviews, but this store needs to do better and be more inviting to communities of color (WE too are an integral part of this beautiful town).
Worst service Ive ever had at ANY business! They cannot even complete the most important task of a ski shop, mounting the ski in the correct place. They did not know how to find the center of the ski and mounted my ski 2cm back from the factory recommended line, making the ski unable to perform. When I came to pick up my skis the employee did not even notice it was incorrect and just handed them over. They then proceeded to give me excuses and lie to me about what they said they would do take care of me. I never got a refund for the mount that day and days later I had to call back to follow up and see what they were going to do. The general manager then proceeded to feed me lies and tell me how they would follow up with me the next day about getting me a new pair of skis to replace my miss-mounted ones. It has now been almost 30 days and I have still never heard from him and he will not answer any of my calls. I have even tried the corporate office, who pretended to sound concerned and told me the CEO would call me back the next day. Never heard back from them and they now wont answer at the office. This is the worst business Ive ever delt with and I will never recommend anyone to blue zone ever again this is just unacceptable. They have no respect for the customer and dont even have the common courtesy to keep me informed or refund me the money for the mount. Severely disappointed.
Went into the store and could find no help. Then I found what I was looking for and stood at the register for 15 min waiting to check out. Finally someone came and took my money. They need to hire more help. Everyone was busy working.
If there were a PhD in Ski Technology, Dylan would be teaching it! The guy is a genius when it comes to skies, and he hooked me up with a brand new pair of Atomics that are absolutely perfect for my size, ability, and style of skiing. Dana was a superstar and had me out the door and on the slopes in a flash. Everyone here is very nice, the inventory is awesome, and the Pres Day sale (40% off!) couldnt be beat. I strongly recommend anyone who is in the market for new equipment - or even just curious, as I was - make a beeline for BlueZone. You wont regret it!
I brought skis in early 12/1/2020 to get mounted. On the way out of the store after paying, I asked how long they would take and they said a week to a week and a half. I hesitated in disabelief that it could take so long and sensing my hesitation about the timeline, the lady said “but call in a couple days”. I thought that meant that they just give that timeline so they could beat expectations, as I have never heard of a shop that is over a week behind on ski mounts.I called Thursday 12/4 and they said the employee indicated the skis would be done on 12/5. I went in mid day on 12/5 and they still weren’t they ready so I asked if I could get the skis back so I could get them mounted somewhere else and ride the weekend. They said they would get then done by the end of the day. I went in an hour before close on 12/5 and they hadn’t even started. I called Sports LTD and they said they could do them same day so grabbed my skis and took them to Sports Ltd.One of the staff I encountered on 12/4 acted like I was bothering him by asking for my skis. As a result, I skipped out on the gloves and spy glasses I was going to buy and will vote with my money elsewhere. If they are that behind on mounts, they should inform customers before they pay as other ski shops can get right on it. They should also hire individuals who aren’t bothered by customers coming in.
Nolan greeted us and walked us through a kayak rental for our entire family. Even though we were perfect strangers we felt like someone had given us a family friend to help equip us for our kayak adventure. It’s people like Nolan that keep you coming back to a business. There are a lot of places to choose from in south lake Tahoe to rent gear, but when you are treated with kindness, friendliness, and this kind of hospitality it’s what makes or breaks your experience of the day. I would highly recommend buying gear or getting rentals here.
Didn’t charge me anything to change out my pedals. Walked in and they changed them out for me right away.
Rented a demo skis, Head Kore 93. Was told that I can credit my rental cost towards a new pair of skis if I liked it.It was awesome so I decided to buy the same ones new the next day. They had a 40% off sale. Was able to pick up my new skis the next morning.Happy with the service and mounting of my bindings.
Overall great experience at BlueZone Sports! Ive been to reputable ski shops all over the US, and my experience at BlueZone tops them all. Dana helped me find skis that were perfect for my needs. Not only was Dana extremely knowledgeable, providing me multiple options that would work, but he truly listened to what was important to me and my habits and preferences skiing to find the perfect pair. From there, he was able to quickly diagnose an issue my friend had with his ski boots, analyze his old boots (realizing there were no tweaks he could make to salvage them) and find him a new pair of boots that would suit him well. Since then, my friend seems to have no issues with his boots and can ski pain free! Dana, thanks again for all of youre help, youre the man. BlueZone itself has tons of equipment and clothing and really is a one stop shop.
Im a local. And knowledgeable about ski equipment pricing. 50 years of skiing.Blue Zone is having their tent sale.50% off marked pricing. Looked at boots and ski. No price showing, front or back. Asked a worker there and got a totally rude answer.Lost my business. The pricing is marked way up.Go to Powderhouse. Alot better.
Best ski/sporting goods store in South Lake Tahoe! These guys are awesome. Dana has helped me several times and he’s great! So nice, so knowledgeable! They also have all of the needed ski race gear. Really great store!
This is a great store, especially for bikes. They have a very good service shop, run by Alex, who is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. My wife and I wound up buying two Scott mountain bikes there, and the staff was very helpful.I highly recommend this store.
Such a fun time! We even got recommendations on areas to take the kids it was a memorable experience. We will return and recommend them to everyone!
My “Lefty” Cannondale mountain bike seat broke on our way up from Los Angeles. Some of the parts had fallen off while it was on the bike rack. I was referred to BlueZone Sports by another bike shop. I headed back to the bike area, and was greeted by Dana Paul, the general manager. He is an awesome guy. Very knowledgeable, welcoming, and extremely kind. Dana knew exactly which parts I needed. He fixed the problem in no time. I got to enjoy the afternoon biking around beautiful Lake Tahoe with my family. Thank you BlueZone and Dana!! Amazing experience !
Purchased our sons bike at Blue Zone and he LOVES it! We dropped it off to get it repaired and just picked it up today with it being fixed and all tuned up. Nothing but amazing things to say about Blue Zone and all of their employees in Tahoe. Our families go to sporting goods store for everything we need in Tahoe! I would highly recommend shopping there.
These folks are awesome! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of ski, bike, hiking.....outdoor stuff. Dana has come to our rescue a few times now- what a great guy!
My wife and I went to the new Blue Zone Sports in South Lake Tahoe to see if they could help us with a boot fitting. When we walked in the store we spoke to a gentleman named Matt who said he was one of the people who did the boot fitting. We then asked Matt what his experience had been in ski boot fitting since I know some people are more experience with snowboard boots, hiking boots, etc.Matt responded by saying that he didnt have to answer that. I then asked, sorry if we said something wrong, were just curious to know what your experience has been fitting people in ski boots to which he said, yeah, not telling you.The woman behind the counter laughed at us and he snickered back at her. We left feeling terrible, without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had in a retail store. We made the manager aware and he was very understanding so while I hate to give a bad review here I do need to warn other people. If I find out that Matt is no longer at the store I can certainly update my review since this is the only person I had a negative experience with.
We took our 2 sons, 11 and 13, to ski Tahoe for the first time. We ski often locally in Berkshires and occasionally in Vermont. My sons are primarily interested in skiing trees, jumps and terrain park. They are used to skiing on flexy, twin tips. I knew they wouldnt be happy with standard mountain rental equipment. Blue Zone had everything they could dream of. The staff and management was super helpful in finding what made them happy. They had a great time with the skis we rented. We ended up buying skis there for next season -the exact equipment my boys had their hearts on -at a great price too! We are coming back to Tahoe next year and wont rent anywhere else. Amazing equipment at better prices than you will find at mountain. Highly recommend the trip here.
Great shop. They have excellent ski boot fitters. Dylan did a fantastic job of custom shaping my boots to my feet and elevated a great deal of pain for me. I had been to a couple of shops before trying to get my ski boots to fit, and this was the first shop that was up to the task. Thank you!!
We rented mountain bikes and had a wonderful time. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we opted for the half day rate so we could really explore the area. We ended up biking around 30 miles and it is a memory which will be treasured. If you are in Tahoe this is a great activity and shouldn’t be missed. Stop in you won’t be sorry.
Top notch. Knowledgeable rental staff - and better than that, friendly and helpful - happy to have your business rather than annoyed to have to serve ANOTHER customer. Took time to ask/learn what I was looking for, my ski ability and style. They even put together a different board for my buddy who is “differently sized” and they didn’t quite have one for him in the rental inventory. Rental gear priced right, I didn’t buy anything else.
Helpful staff and wide variety of sports products.
My husband and I have found ourselves living in South Lake Tahoe after being displaced by the Camp Fire in Paradise CA. Since we lost all of our snow gear along with our home in this fire, we went to Blue Zone to replace our snow gear. The staff here were amazing... so friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate. We were well taken care of and plan to continue to support this wonderful store.
Great shop! Needed to get a new jacket, gloves, and goggles and wasn’t sure what I wanted. The staff was super helpful and knowledgeable, and I am very happy with my purchases! They spent plenty of time with me and were very patient. Will definitely come back again and again! Ask for Dana, Kyle, or Tim! They were fantastic!
Was in town visiting for a wedding one weekend and I had come to this store to get some board shorts and sandals. The staff only talked to us when it was time to check out, so no good customer service, the dudes were up talking to each other about sports the whole time I was in the store and needed help, had no one help me at all, everything was over priced and they only cared the smallest sizes in everything we were looking for,I would recommend looking somewhere else before you actually commit to buying anything here.
I came in for new alpine ski boots. Jacob was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced. They had a great selection of boots and I left with a new pair of boots that fit great after their customizations.
Ive visited this location several times and theyre rad! The assistant manager, Kyle, helped me out with my last purchase and recommended some Hestra ski gloves. Definitely worth a visit if you need some quality gear for the mountain.
Nice store but you can find better prices and customer service elsewhere in the south lake area.
Very clean, very friendly people. Much better than Big 5.
Literally 5x cheaper than renting a kayak at the lake. Also the manager is really nice.
Dana is a stud. Great help with boot fitting. Can’t image a better place to go to get better service. Down to earth good people.
Went in to purchase new ski boots Jacob is very knowledgeable and recommend a few different types of boots that would fit my foot and skiing style. Unfortunately they didnt have anything in stock that would fit me that day. Jacob was willing to special order them for me and do a custom boot fit for free once we ordered and they arrived. I plan on going back in and taking him up on his offer.
Went in looking for new boots and Jacob really helped me out. He made sure that my boots fix well after riding. They were kind and very helpful. Got an awesome new board there too!
Went in today to have my boots punched and could not have had better service. Jacob was extremely helpful and fixed my boots in a timely manner. Being a ski patrol at Homewood you can imagine how important it is to have comfortable boots. The employees are very knowledgeable and polite when it comes to fixing and purchasing gear.
Excellent customer service and deals. Chelsea was great! The manager and cashier were very friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommended!
Walked in to look at snowboards and helmets and was greeted warmly. They answered all my questions expertly and were not pushy at all. Didn’t end up buying anything, but would go again.
I found this place through a friend who recommended it and glad I did! Discounts on almost everything and found bindings I have been looking for for a long time. The 30 day return policy also rocks! Thanks Bluezone!
Early season I came to Blue Zone for my first back country set up. I was blown away by the selection and the friendly staff. Dana helped me with my boots, and made sure they fit me properly.I lost a screw from one of my boots, and Dana replaced it for free!Part of my set up was the Kingpin 13 bindings. They came highly recommended from a friend. After skiing them, I cant tell the difference between them and full resort bindings.Needless to say, I will buy my next set up from Blue Zone!
Ive recommended everyone to this store nonstop since! Back in December, I traveled to the Truckee area looking for a cheap, full ski set up. I went to 5 different stores in the area with Blue Zone Sports being my 5th store. When I walked in and told them that I was not well versed in ski knowledge, but wanted a decent set up on a budget, they walked me through the entire thing. I was so turned off by the other stores because they had more of a snobby attitude and were quick to send me away once I mentioned being new and having a budget, but the people at Blue Zone were great. I dont remember the name of the woman who walked me through everything (potentially Tricia, shes the wife of the store owner), but she is godsent! She looked up previous years models and helped me keep the price reasonable. I never felt like she was trying to push the more expensive thing; she would give me all the options and let me choose. She also took her time with me letting me try on multiple ski boots and teaching me about how boots should fit. I ended up getting skis, bindings, boots, poles, and a helmet all from this place, and they were able to mount the skis that night since I went to the store in the afternoon. Picked up the skis the next morning at 8am, so I was ready for the first 9am lifts at the resort. Would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for ski/snowboard gear, clothes, and all around advice. I noticed they also rent gear out to people as well. Very happy with my purchase and will probably return in the future for more gear!
Awesome shop.. military discount!! Would rather ride to the far end of town for the service at blue zone for cycling equipment then shop around the village!!
Great place to rent bikes. Free parking, good choice, great pricing, and easy to get to trails going toward 89 and State Line.We rented 2 Cannondale mountain bikes and 2 cruzer 7 speeds. Thought we wanted then for half day but came back earlier. They gave us hourly rate which saved us money.
Ryan, a manager, his body language and look on his face could not be hidden or misinterpreted. Discounted my issue, disagreeable, with a childish snicker. When asked about his reaction (his words) Im being polite to you with a flat, how dare you vibe. Corrected my word choice a couple of times & told me that I was wrong when describing the problem I was having with my ski boots. Negative experience, if there is a problem- but there for you at the register to take you cash! I go back today to see the Master Boot Fitter hopefully this time, at least some type of customer service will be provided.
Lots of high quality gear. Very nice and helpful.
Jacob, a friendly store manager and an expert boot fitter did a great job fitting my Fisher ski boots. He suggested that he can also make a custom orthotic insoles for my dancing shoes.Next time, when I go skiing to Kirkwood and Heavenly, I will bring my dancing shoes too.
My wife and I stumbled across this shop on our way home from a ski trip. Since our local shop is closing down it was a nice surprise. Jacob was were helpful in recommending a new ski boot for my wife. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about boots and custom boot fitting. He was very attentive and spent about a hour on and off custom fitting a new boot for my wife even though the shop was very busy (It may be due to the customer appreciation day they were having and serving finger foods and drinks : )) My wife really fells that her new boots were fitting well. It was nice to find someone knowledgeable and with passion for his work. The employees we had encountered were very customer service oriented and helpful. They had very competitive pricing I was told they would match any internet price (even though I have never purchased any ski equipment off the internet) We will be returning whenever we need help with ski equipment purchases and tuning
Bought my son a pair of SF GiantsHe is a great fan.
Very knowledgeable and professional staff! Jacob, Dana, and Kyle were very helpful with setting me up with a new pair of Dalbello Panterra ski boots. These guys really know there stuff! BlueZone is the go-to sporting goods store if your in the Tahoe Area.
This is a review for a fitting for backcountry randonné downhill skiing boots. I have not written a review in years - like everyone else, no time. After my experience there today though, I have to change that.First: my expectations were high - I came all the way from the Central Coast, at the end of the season and after many painful days on the slopes, just the get someone who knew what they were doing, and BlueZone wasn’t my first stop in town. The fist place did not know backcountry skiing and after 5 minutes of talking, it was clear that they weren’t going to touch my boots. Because randonné skiing involves so much more walking and flexing than resort skiing, fitting boots is much more critical. When the first shop guy was overwhelmed with all my questions and concerns, he referred me to BlueZone, and told me to ask for “Dana”. Thank you for that tip!Best way to describe my experience with Dana, beyond the non-rushed, patient commitment he showed to proper fitting, and the ton of high tech gear the store has to do a top job, is that it felt like I was dealing with a podiatrist, more than a skier - he even had a skeleton model of the foot, and referred to all the foot’s bone by name! I walked out of there a couple of hours later, with my fancy Scarpa boots fitting me better than I honestly had hoped, all at a very reasonable price. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dana! Your store is the best and I plan to come back every time I’m in Tahoe!
Awesome new(ish) place! We were stoked to discover this store next to our favorite T.J. Maxx. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their sales prices were ridiculously low, and some items were even discounted on top of the sale prices. We got shoes and snowboard pants and saved almost $200. Plus theyre dog friendly. Cant wait to go back!
Great store and customer service is excellent. Jacob is awesome with custom ski boot fitting!
Lots of good quality products better then big 5
Amazing staff, good offers for rent, nice range of equipment for sale
Nobody wearing masks.
Great selection, knowledge, and customer service. The only place we go!
Love this new place! Their sales are incredible!
