The store looks like it shutting down, and need some love. People go stimulate this economy. Their prices are very good, with a lot on sale, it was the perfect place to shop for everything we needed last minute while in Tahoe on a spur of the moment tour trip around the lake

Very low quality establishment right here. I came for boxer shorts and less than one out of five boxes werent already ripped open. I asked an employee why everything was opened with boxers laying around the place and while walking by without stopping or barely looking at me she said I dunno I just stock the shelvesTwo stars because there is a large variety of products here but theres no upkeep for them. The store could be a lot better.

Wow what happened to this store. Used to have so many things and great place for bargains. Guess the pandemic killed it. Just basic things there and even some of the basics not there. Just not much there anymore. People are nice though.

Limited stock.. lots of brand name.. Craftsman and Die-Hard cloths..could not find a 36 waist for men. Its the last of its kind.Great staff!

The service is the best, Kmart employees that care. I miss my local Kmart but these people at this Kmart give the extra service, caring and helpful. Kmart is a needed store because they support our Vets and pay theyre employees good wages, I like that I am buying here instead of Walmart or Target because Kmart is a better store for my needs.

I love this Kmart store when your in the mountains far from a lot of things, this store rocks. The employees here are incredibly friendly down to earth people. Many thinks and I will continue to save shop to keep this store open.

The landscaping is nice.The employees are nice and even though this is my first and last time at this store...I’m very sad to see it go. California will be down to only 1 Kmart now.

Yes there is still a kmart. Customer service was excellent. Used their western union services 2 days in a row without a hitch. Made a couple purchases as well. With the covid their dressing rooms are currently closed. I bought a few clotjing items anyway. Being a women, went straight back for a couple returns. Very easy. Thank you kmart your staff is great!

I love coming here for my Everlast sweatshirts. I find good clothes here but havent shopped for much else.

The Rumor is that this store is closing, so the inventory is a little slim. However I dont know that for sure. In the past it has most of the everyday items that you buy anywhere. The prices are good for South Lake Tahoe.

Place is closing down and is in complete disarray, would not recommend going here unless you are really looking to pick through whatever hasnt already been bought.

The associates are nice and the store is organized and very clean. They always have good deals/sales.

This is the worst Kmart Ive ever been to, and that is saying something. If it was any place other than SLT it would be long out of business. If SLT ever gets a Target, this place is gone.

They dont even have the basics here. Its a waste of time. If you really need something go to CVS or Raleys, or drive to Carson City Walmart. The only good thing I can say about this place is they have toys for Christmas and winter wear when its cold.

Glad we have a local KMART, but this is the worst one I know of....so small and under staffed.

Best prices in town for general stuff when staying in South Lake Tahoe. Still an open K-Mart and quite busy. 3 registers open and lines moved fast. Reminds me of how K-Mart used to be when I was a kid. Not a fancy place, but all the shelves were full of products and I enjoyed getting a few things in there while on vacation....even took my kids in for a stroll down memory lane.

Fair prices to bad they are closing

Just your typical Kmart. We come here during the shopping holidays during Thanksgiving week for the sales. Not alot of items for essentials but will be ok with that for certain items.

This store needs help! Management is slow and careless. Multiple occassions have I experienced issues with items ringing up double or more what is advertised on the floor.

Poorly stocked. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable, but they certainly didnt have the household items I went looking for.

If you want a store with not much on the shelves. go here you will love this placeAnd if you want buythings at lot higher price then everywhere else this is your new favorite....

This is a fairly typical Kmart, a little crowded, and things not labeled with all the prices. But, there is a big variety and low prices.

Good prices on everything, all sort of stuff

Many empty shelves. Ran into a bewildered shopper who said wow, they dont have much of anything do they. Check out girl was super awesome (five stars), but the rest of the employees just shuffled around and they all looked depressed and unhappy.

Didnt have several items that were on my list. A lady associate stocking the shelves in health department was helpful and friendly, she could see that I needed assistance to find a couple items.

Seems as if its going to shut down soon you can only spread out items so much before it is obvious that its spread to thin . Prices seem to high for a kmart as well. Sorry K but this store is a one star lately.

Bought the last pair of bike pedals during COVID times and came twice to return them today because they were incompleteand didnt include the adapters. They are supposed to be universal and the product was missing parts so they cant be used for anything.I was told twice to come back and return them after covid. I came back today, and even though they sold me a useless and misrepresented product, they said I cant return them now. They are able to look them up, and I did try 2 times before. Im stuck now with $15 that has to go in the garbage. I have spent hundreds here this year, and Im never coming back.

Over priced itiems

When I was growing up, K-Mart had a great electronics section, a huge toy section with bikes and skateboards and nerf guns. As a kid it was a one-stop-shop. Mom could get ya shoes and school clothes, and you could use that allowance money for a new video game. Then they closed down the electronics section, the toy section got fused with automotive parts and luggage. The seasonal section to the left just became a spot for discounted patio furniture that never seemed to sell. Im not saying K-Mart was some glamorous oasis in the cramped parking lot of the Y Center, but it just refuses to change with the times, and you can see it on every employees face. Its an outdated eyesore. Its a fart in the wind. And its gotta go.

This store rarely has what I’m looking for. I always go here first for things I think it should have before making the drive to Carson or Gardnerville walmart/Target. You would think a small town, “Big Kmart” would be stocked with things for your daily personal and home needs; not the case here. It seems that about half the store is filled with filler items, and the rest sparsely stocked with things you might need.

Absolutely love this door. Great bargains. Nice people. Beautiful location in South Lake Tahoe. Highly recommend.

Kmart stores in general are ghosts of their former 80s-selves, and it creaps me out to go into this one - which I absolutely avoid unless its an emergency and nothing else available. If there has to be a huge discount store, and this can be a KMART, why cant it be a Walmart, instead?

For a K-Mart, this is one of the more decent stores Ive ever seen -- but thats not saying much. It can be one of the more affordable places to get certain basics in South Lake, but be careful to compare prices because on some items, they seem to charge more than normal; its strange, and there doesnt really seem to be much rhyme or reason to their pricing strategy. Sometimes youll find what you need here at a bargain price, and other times you walk out going, I cant believe they want $XX for that! Ill drive to Carson City or Reno! I also agree with other reviewers that the staff here seem pretty unhelpful and miserable.

Love this place with all my heart, but the constant lack of stock is always an issue. Though the problem isnt the employees. Theyre all a friendly helpful bunch. Be wary of their bikes, especially mongoose. Theyre prone to breaking randomly but surely. No refunds on bikes is the real flop for me. Something is wrong with the metal parts and mechanisms so that they are super flimsy and easy to break. Clothes are also alright but certain stuff shrinks after wash without warning. Also the electronics section has basically been ripped out.

I was amazed to see this store after I had thought they had closed them. The shelves were fully stocked to the brim. The employees they had were new that we spoke to but were happy to be working there. Prices were reasonable in Kmart fasion.

This Kmart was pretty organized, but when you go to the fitting rooms to try on a some type of clothing, the doors are locked. So you have to wait for a worker to come and unlock the door.

While Im not a KMart shopper, this is the only game in town. At times the store can look clean, other times its quite messy. Same goes for product in stock conditions. The building and store are in need of a remodel. Appears to have plenty of staff but I am rarely asked if I needed help. Front cashiers are pleasant to deal with and usually quick to get you out. Prices are reasonable.

Hello, I live in South Lake Tahoe. I have heard that the Kmart here in town is one of the busiest stores. The last two times I have been in the store, I have ended up leaving and changed my mind to purchase the items I had found. This is due to the poor customer service in the store. While in line, both times, I had conversations with others about how poor the service is. Many others left out of line, also, due to too long of wait as there is never enough help. You are loosing business!!! Being it is one of your busiest stores, I would think you would have enough help. This has been a complaint for quite some time and no one seems to be taking care of it. Sincerely

They should have courtesy lawn chairs, it would make the long wait in checkout lines slightly less arduous...you can pay/checkout at the customer service station if there is someone there, that is usually faster than waiting in line at the one checkout lane that is usually open.

Seriously surprised this place has shut down yet. I mean they are only open 8 hours a day and they’ve shut down half the store. Don’t go here for fishing gear they have none!

You could find what you are looking for, but it might take a little while because the store could get messy when busy. The register process is fast and employees are happy.

Not organized. Items are consistently mis marked on prices. Terrible staffing on a regular basis. During the holidays and the day after Christmas they had one register open. For many years this store has been more stress to shop at than it is worth.

If I didn’t need what I needed I would have left no joke. I’m from out of town. Today 01/5/18 2:05 the women at customer service asked for the next person in line witch I was. And she was rude about saying “she was the next in line”. And I mean RUDE. I’m here for an emergency I had two items she had a lot. Still made out out before her with three people ahead of me now. While I was checking out with the other lady she was complaining to the three people at customer service and the customer that I called her out on being rude. And said “ I can be as rude as I want I work here”. Even though she just told me “I wasn’t being rude“. I live by standard it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. I live by standard it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. So the customer service here is terrible. It was a woman about five to dark hair dark eyebrows and darker-ish lipstick. So avoid her as much as possible and she was over in the customer service check out line. With an attitude like that I know she won’t last long. Its disorganized and DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY!

Overcharged for a product to which the cashier told me that I had to go to customer service which I waited for 10 minutes and no one helped me. Someone shouted Oh shes in the dressing room and that was it. Ended up leaving because Im not waiting. Will never come here again and Im pretty sure thats why youre going out of business.

Honestly just tired of coming here only to not find the simplest of items, like a shower curtain, closet hangers, coffee maker, ect... Their shelves are always 60% bare. They must be going out of business due to poor service and not stocking anything in their store.

This place is a good representation of why KMart is going under. Its messy, disorganized, and some shelves are completely bare. The only thing its good for is picking up forgottensupplies. That is if they have it and you can find it.
