Cute little market in the heart of South Orange Village. Great variety of organic fruits, meats, cheeses etc.

I really like Ashleys. They have a unique assortment of products. They have hot prepared foods and salads. Deli, fresh meats and seafood and their fruits and vegetables are very fresh. I would recommend

Expired cheese on sale? Not good. I should have checked before buying - the best before date is either 6/9 or 8/9 - couldnt read clearly. Nonetheless expired considering I bought it on 8/24. I tasted it and it was so sour, which prompted me to check the expiry date at home.

Have been going here pretty much since it first opened. I have really grown attached to the supermarket. Plus it usually has at least some foods that are in the least difficult to find anywhere. The staff there is helpful as well.

1st time visiting Ashley Marketplace. Spacious. Nice and clean. Prices a little steep, quality is good. Nice variety. My only issue was no one acknowledged us, we were left waiting in front of a hot food bar until the gentleman heard us complaining about the service. Gonna give the benefit of the doubt... It was lunchtime, maybe staff was on lunch. Otherwise nice place. I would go back. My co worker loved the whole experience.

Trying this vegan mac and cheese option, I hope its good. the blue chips I love

Very disappointed with the place. It used to be a good place to pick up dinner after church. Now there isnt much to make it special. Parking lot is dirty. Not sure if the change is due to covid or something else.

Somewhat pricey, but they carry a diverse variety of high quality items. I would definitely check it out if you go to Seton Hall, but dont expect for this to be where you should buy all of your groceries (unless youre rich). If you need mixers for drinks this is the place to go! My friend and I like to buy our sardines from here.

Ashleys is a South Orange staple. A little pricey.. but great quality.

Its ok to buy there if you really need something( like emergency), the first time I went I liked it the fruits looked fresh but when I came back the second time (like 2 weeks later) they were mostly spoiled.

Average experience...higher prices and lower quality stuff.....seemed little dirty ...also NO refills on coffee.....seems like they are trying be like whole foods but not as good....average experience overall...

I cannot adequately express my love for Ashleys. We are there nearly every day. Thank you, Ashleys for all you have done to make it safe to shop at our beloved local supermarket!!

I enjoy going to this place. The food is always fresh and the service is great. Everyone is always so pleasant and hospitable. With their large variety of food, you can always find something good to eat.

High quality merchandise. It’s rare that they don’t have what I need. Their in house hot roasted turkey is AMAZING!!!

Great service well stocked with items and production

This is not the place to do your weekly grocery shopping. Prices are considerably higher than your average grocery store. However, if you want very high quality meat, this is your place. Marty the butcher is a master at his craft. The porterhouse are the best you’ll find on this side of the Hudson River. There is free parking in the lot behind the market for your convenience.

I was disappointed that for my most recent two consecutive trips to shop there, the deli closed earlier than it was supposed to. I was already aware that the deli department has different hours and it closes earlier than the rest of the store. On both of these recent occasions I had called the store earlier in the day to check what time the deli department would be open until on that particular night. However, both of these recent times I arrived earlier than the delis closing time: once by about half an hour and the other time by about 15 minutes--both times the deli was already closed despite their supposed hours of operation. There was a 3rd time where they closed the deli well over an hour earlier than the stated time, that was months ago. When I talked to their employees while I was at the store (maybe once it was a manager) to ask why the deli was visibly closed, each of these 3 times I received quite inadequate explanations. Twice it was that the deli person left a little early and the other time I was told that they sometimes will close the deli an hour or two early if it had been really slow. So then why tell me when I call in advance that the deli will be open until a specific time when theres a strong possibility that it wont be open? Its annoying and its a big inconvenience for me to schedule my day to make it there to shop when I can get all my groceries including my deli meats and cheeses all in one trip to the store. They do have very nice, upscale products which are admittedly expensive for me, but its the only grocery store within walking distance so sometimes thats the only place I can go to get my groceries seeing as how I have to walk back carrying all of the bags. But they do have very delicious foods including their bakery and their deli has quality items. Also, the customer service has otherwise always been great.

Very clean & organized, everyone’s also so polite & helpful with a nice welcoming as u enter in. It’s the perfect quick food stop for shopping.

I don’t know if it’s the new boxes they are using or they did something with the scales but I had 3 chicken wing flats, a piece of Brazilian Chicken and one chicken nugget that came up to $4.53. If I was at the Chinese buffet this wouldn’t even top the scale. No way I’m ever using that place again. Buyer’s remorse made it impossible to enjoy my meal. Never again.

Kind Of Expensive But Ok If You Need An Item In An Emergency.

Literally come here almost everyday... 😩Lol . The small buffet they have is fresh and delicious... The sandwiches are some of the best around. Will not get a sandwich from any other place. Fresh breads. Smoothies and juices are great. Recommended definitely.

Good selection of organic, fresh food. Produce and fish are particularly good. For a small space it has a good selection. Staff are extremely helpful. Four stars only because its a little expensive

There prices are way to high and they have associate to help out when I have a question and they dont have what I am looking for

Im going to give it a 2 because I went in for their buffet and the food was horrible. The noodles, white rice and macaroni and cheese had a weird taste. Not normal. And the pork ribs were very tough. I also had a container of fresh kiwis. They too had a weird taste. As far as their grocery section? It looked nice. I bought some hot sauce for the horrible good hoping it would help and it was about a dollar more than what you would pay at stop and shop or similar grocery store. There dessert section looked good but Im afraid to go back because of the weird flavors of the food I had. I wont go back.

Sort of a high end supermarket. They offer some great stuff. Its not inexpensive. But convenient and depending on what you need a good place.

Very and Intimate Shopping Experience

Weve been loyal customers since they were called Garden of Eden. After workouts we head over forsmoothies and shots of wheatgrass. I also pick up dinner from their hot buffet which offers a varied selection of meats, sides and salads. Occasionally Ill pick up pastries as they are baked fresh daily and taste scrumptious.Quality of products sold are excellent. Even though the staff of late are not as helpful or as courteous in the past, I adore this grocer and will continue to support them for the time being.

The place is beautiful, and they only sell high-quality products. Its obviously smaller than a chain supermarket, but you will find everything you need here. The fresh bakery items are really delicious!

Their supermarket side looked fine but expensive. We got hot/salad bar. It was on par with whole foods etc for price and quality

Ashley is a solid grocery store, and convenient to me. Prices seem about average. Decent selection of prepared foods. Smallish selection of produce, but its good quality. The layout drives me nuts, though. Tight, narrow aisles, odd categorization and overstuffed shelves. I find it really difficult to navigate and hard to find things reliably.

Fresh produce. Great products and all great organic brands I love especially the Buddha Bowl Organic Pop Corn. So delicious. Staff is great as well. Highly recommend.

When there 7:30 am and was able to have a Turkey and provolone wrap made fresh for me .

High quality grocery store, but very pricey. Come for 1 or 2 things, not your weekly trip. They have an especially good selection of grab and go items, perfect for entertaining guests or if you dont want to show up to a party empty handed (cookies, breads, fruits, etc).

The food here is good from the hot food bar. Their sandwiches made to order is good as well. They use very high-quality products, which makes the difference. If you into eating healthy the juice bar has wheatgrass and many other fresh juices.

Very convenient, and is generally stocked with high quality produce. That said, youll pay a premium for all products. Also a decent stock of kosher cheeses.

I stopped by Ashley Marketplace the other day and found out something else I like about Ashley Marketplace in South Orange, NJ. They have this great late evening sales process. You see they have these great fresh food bars and I always stated the food was great and always neatly laid out. The great part about this is that when you come home from work, late day Ashley Marketplace puts their cold salad trays and hot cooked food bars on sale at 50%. My wife has being going for months but I just discovered it and now I know why she loves it, like I do now. The food is great, never looks disheveled or picked over and while food is on discount pricing they will actually bring out more if they have it. The discounts are great and the food taste great and the service is wonderful. Just what you want. .

I love Ashleys. Only place in south orange that lets you takeout buffet style food. There is a weighting system for the food, which is how you pay. Products tend to be a bit on the pricey side, but it is well worth it.

Great gourmet food market. staff is friendly. and the hot meal buffet is really good. think they use same chefs from their restaurant Above.

Really nice local grocery store. Organic produce and higher end products. That being said its more expensive but if its within your budget great place! Also sushi is 1/2 off after 7:30 pm!

The 4 stars is because of the high prices. The market is clean, big, spacious. They offer an array of products, vegan, gluten-free, organic. Unfortunately everything is really priced.

I just had the Grilled Chicken & Veggies with Macaroni and Cheese from the Hotbar. It was very delicious.

Bakery associates are rude and clueless. Everything is mis-labeled in the case and they will up charge anyone $5-$10 and blame it on the signs. Please get a better staff behind the bakery counter- someone that cares maybe?

Literally double the price of competing supermarkets. Selection is barely adequate and hot food is awful. Theres plenty of other grocers in the area for a fraction of the cost

Excellent variety, traditional and healthy-conscious products, ready-to-eat food, very good prices. Fortunate to have one near us.

Overall the place is clean...the food is good and I typically dont have sny issues...the last time going there last week I was followed throughout the store...I purposefully zigzagged in the aisles to see if the employee would continue to follow me and he did until I finally spoke up...

Where do I begin. Ashley markets was a Dailey spot for me as far as lunch, and teas/drinks; but their staff members that consisted of young female hooligans were increasingly rude to my husband, even to me at times. So we stopped shopping there. Fast forward, we decided to cater for the holidays, and we werent happy with the food at all.

Almost everything is overpriced, even if you allow for there being a premium on location convenience near the South Orange station. If you can go a couple blocks further to the Stop & Shop, your wallet will thank you.

They have what youre looking for, but you can definitely find better prices.

Mean rude customer serive plus employees also the employee who kicked me out and said never come back to me for no good reason i reported him to the essex county sheriff dept who was sitting out side in a patrol car because i felt threatened by the employee i dont know his name

This a wonderful little high end supermarket. Larger than it looks from the outside but not big like a Stop and Shop or Publix. While its expensive its also clean, well staffed, filled with organic produce and speciality meats and cheeses, has a butcher, decent seafood section and yummy bakery. The salad bar and hot food bar however, are my favorite! The chicken stew is a-maz-ing. A bowl of that and some garlic bread and ... *sigh*!!! This place is a gem.

I like going there at 730pm for half off the buffet food and sushi. I think that is great, especially when you know everything goes in the garbage and there are a lot of disadvantage people in this world.
